Facebook app won't open after update

I have an iPhone 4 iOS 5.1.1 and after I did an update to my Facebook app thru the app store it wont open anymore. When I tap the Facebook app it looks like its going to open but after a couple of seconds it goes back to my home screen. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it numerous times, did a reboot several times, deleted it from the bottom tray after double clicking the home key (circle button) and even tried tried installing several new apps but NOTHING works. Please help!

My facebook app is doing the exact same thing.  I installed all of the updates from the app store notifications last night.  Afterward, the facebook app will start to open and then close.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times and also rebooted the phone.  Nothing is helping.  Any other suggestions?

how come my apps won't open after updating to ios5?

Thanks for the feedback.  This is a custom enterprise application.   So there is not an update yet.   It will take our developer a little time to get it IOS 5 compatiable.  So unless I can change the IOS we can't use application until we get upgrade of the custom app.

  • Photo storing app won't open after update.

This is kind of embarrassing. I downloaded the app Private Photo Vault on my jailbroken iOS 7.1.2 iPhone 4. I used this app to lock away some inappropriate pictures I didn't need other people seeing in my library. It had worked perfect until the update yesterday. Now I can't open it. When i try to open it, all I see is the app's background. When I double home button, the app screen looks like the screen where I would normally type in the passcode, but I pressed it, and it went to the screen described earlier. I would really like to get the media I have stored in there back. I'm not sure if I want to back it up on itunes because of the inappropriate photos. I already tried to hold the home and power button for 10 seconds to reset it. When it came back on, it was still the same. I also then got photo vault pro to see if it would maybe want to move all the photos to that app since they are pretty much the same, but I can't open that one either.

  • Podcast app won't open after updating to 7.1.1

I just updated my iPhone to 7.1.1 and now the podcast app doesn't work. When I press it, it just sort of blinks and then nothing happens.
I have tried un-installing it, and then re-installing it, but that didn't help. Thanks for any advice.

Okay. That's looking like a badly broken QuickTime (although it's not the most common message people see under those circumstances).
So we'd better try swapping out your existing QuickTime. Since it's giving you "fatal errors", it's unlikely that you'll be able to use Add/remove Programs to uninstall it. So we'll try getting it out of there by other means.
Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. then use it to clear any existing QuickTime installation configuration information from your PC (Run CleanUp, find "QuickTime in the entries in CleanUp, select the QuickTime entry and click "Remove"):
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
Next, we’ll manually remove leftover program files and folders.
    1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
    2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
    3. Open Program Files.
    4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
    5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
    6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx.
    7. Restart your computer.
next, we'll try to get a fresh copy of QuickTime into your PC by doing a repair install of itunes.
switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the repair install.
go into Add/Remove and select itunes. click "Change" and then click "Repair".
if the repair install goes through okay, restart the PC and try launching itunes again. does it launch properly now?

  • ITunes won't open after update; MacBook Pro, Mac OSX 10.6.8, iTunes version 11.1.5

iTunes won't open after update - help, please; MacBook Pro, Mac OSX 10.6.8, iTunes version 11.1.5.

i had a problem similar to yours and better yet, i have the fix for it. i downloaded maverick 4 months ago and was without itunes ever since. all itunes icon did was bounce. itunes would never open and whats more, is when i would try to update it, i would get a "thank you for downloading itunes!" page , but the download would never work. so i scoured the net for solves. nothing that worked. <4 months later> then last night i took a new approach. i decided even though maverick would not allow me to uninstall itunes, i would find a way to uninstall itunes. then i would reinstall back to 11.1.5 i was successful and heres what i did.
    step one-
Back up your iTunes Library.itl file, found under ~/Music/iTunes
(even tho i didnt, i only had 3 artists in there at the time. and they didnt get erased but i advise you back up just in case.)
    step two-
download itunes 10.7 from apple. i used this link Download it from Apple here
(i pulled the link from Aarons website (awesometast.com). you download 10.7 however you want but i used the link above and have had no issues).
although im not sure you need to do this step ( you may be able to download 11.1.5 itunes without 10.7, i did because i was following intructions from http://awesometoast.com/downgrading-to-itunes-10-7-from-itunes-11-on-osx/
    step 3-
    open Terminal
    step 4-
enter in these 3 commands hitting return after each line. 1st line nothing seems to happen, 2nd line nothing seems to happen and 3rd line gives you a warning and requires password to continue. when i did it, my password didnt appear as i entered it and i hit return without looking, so i entered it in again, although im not sure i had to the 2nd time.
    killall iTunes
    killall "iTunes Helper"
    sudo rm -rf /Applications/iTunes.app/
    step 5-
drag off and dump the itunes icon (which now has the ? shadow in it) off your dock.
    step 6-
install 10.7 itunes you downloaded earlier. (not sure if this part is neccesary. you may be able to just download 11.1.5 but i downloaded 10.7 because i was following Aarons steps.) itunes now works.
    step 7-
go to apple and update to 11.1.5 itunes. install it. open it and you have itunes 11.1.5 in perfect working order. assuming you have a decent internet speed for the downloads, the whole process takes very little time.
with those steps above, you can solve itunes just bouncing and not launching issues and also the "thank you for downloading" and nothing downloads issue. enjoy. also i would like to give a shout out to http://awesometoast.com and thank Aaron for the knowledge that enabled me to get itunes back into my life.

  • My apps won't load after updating to iOS4.3.2. What to do?

My apps won't load after updating to iOS4.3.2. What to do?

Yes, I tried that (thanks for the suggestion, though!). In my music app, when I click on certain songs, the screen moves to try to start the song, but then it bounces back to the menu screen without playing the song. On many albums, when I click on the first song, a song about halfway through the album will start to play rather than that first song. My other apps seems to be fixed, but not the music function.

  • My messages app won't open, after I sent a large iMessage. I think it just has too much data on it. What can I do other then reset my iPhone?

My messages app won't open, after I sent a large iMessage. I think it just has too much data on it. What can I do other then reset my iPhone?

Hi everyone, I had this problem but none of the solutions above worked. What happened with me, and with others in other forums, is that a particular thread or message was causing the problem. I'd go to open the message and all I'd get was a white screen with the blue bar at the top. So, I went into contacts, pressed 'send message' to a contact whose message wasn't causing the problem, then I pressed back to messages. You then swipe to the left on the thread that's causing the problem, and delete it. Sadly this means you will lose all that person's messages, but you can try opening it from there and deleting it on the thread. Didn't work for me though. Hope that helps! It was the only thing that worked for me after about three days of total frustration and resetting!

  • Updated to iOS 8, now Facebook app won't open

I have an iPhone 5c. After doing the update, my Facebook app won't stay open. What to do?

    Hello there FAB54evr,
It sounds like your iPad is constantly losing connection to your cellular data service. I recommend the troubleshooting in the following article named:
Get help with the cellular data connection on your iPad (Wi-Fi + Cellular Model)
Tap Settings and make sure that Cellular Data is turned on. Turn Cellular Data off, then back on again.
Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open the Control Center. Tap the airplane icon to turn airplane mode on. Wait three seconds, then turn it off.
    Restart your iPad.
Check for a carrier settings update.
Update your iPad with the latest version of iOS.
Remove the SIM card, then insert it again.
If your SIM card uses a SIM PIN, tap Settings > Cellular Data and turn SIM PIN off.
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
If you have another SIM card with a valid cellular data account, remove the SIM card from your iPad and insert the other SIM card. If the cellular data connection works with the other SIM card, contact your carrier to report the issue.
Try another location. If the cellular data connection works in another area but not in the first location you tried, contact your carrier to report the issue.
    Restore your iPad as new.
If you still can't connect to or use a cellular data network, contact your carrier, make a reservation at a Genius Bar, or contact AppleCare for more help.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • Some apps won't open after OS X Mavericks update

After the update to OS X Mavericks, some apps won't open on my macbook pro.  That include things like preview, boot camp assistant, from what I've tried so far. When I click on those from applications menu or from the spotlight search, the icon appear on the dock very briefly(like 1 sec) and nothing happened after that. Based on the internet search, I tried the Disk permissions repair and didn't work. Any suggestions? Thanks

    Hi aung.24,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  I would recommend trying the troubleshooting for "If the issue occurs in various applications, or in Mac OS X" from this article:

  • Hi everyone, I've had problems with some apps on my iPad. The apps don't open after update

How do I fix apps that don't open after update?

Try a hard reset ie hold the power and home buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears (ignore the red slider). Are you still using iOS 4.3.3, as in your profile? A lot of apps now need an iOS of 6 or higher for the update to download.

  • Facebook app won't open, it just goes to the blue page then closes again

I click to open the Facebook app and it opens to the initial blue Facebook page, but then it just closes again. It does this every time I try to open it an I've tried turning off then restarting my iPod.

Additionally, the settings app fails whenever I try to view usage information, and the voicemail no longer functions as before.  It now prompts for a password because it is dialing out to Verizon which it never did before.  Any feedback on these issues will be appreciated as well.

  • Several apps won't open after 10.9.5 update

I have an 2011 Mac with 3.06 GHz Intel Core i3, with 4GB 1333 HZ DDR3.  After the iOS 10.9.5 update, the following apps will not open: Finder, Mail, Photo Booth, iPhoto, and Calendar (the mouse also seems to lose connection often).  I CAN get a second window of Finder to open and the system seems to think the apps are open.  I've restarted the Mac several times with the same result.  This is the second time I've done the upgrade to 10.9.5 - the first time I couldn't get a different group of Apps to open (including the App Store, System Preferences and that time the trackpad continually lost connection).  I've looked through the discussion boards and can't find anyone else with this problem.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and  Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.
