Facebook Apps
Is there only one Facebook application? Is this the official one from Facebook itself.
I like the Facebook app that I have but its a shame that you cannot type in landscape and also its a shame that you do not get push notifications through for status updates etc.
I am pretty sure that you can't but if there is someway that you can or if there is a number of facebooks apps please let me know!
There is one FaceBook app, which is provided by FaceBook.
The ability to use the app in landscape mode and push notifications is up to FaceBook to provide with their app.

i bought a second hand iphone 3g last week and it wont let me get my apps cause it says that i need IOS 5. on my itunes it say that the IOs 4.2.1 is current and that no update is needed. i stil tried to download fb but it wont let me cause i dont have the IOS 5. please help me.
The Facebook app now requires iOS 5.0 or later. I believe that 4.2.1 was the last version that Apple released for the 3G. And with the rapid approach of the iPhone 5S and possibly 6 they are no longer supporting the 3G. I would not be surprised to see them stop offering support for the 3GS this time around.

Hi...I am new to this site and it looks like I posted the question in the subject box...my bad.
I have an Iphone 3G which is used as an ipod (phone service plans are too expensive).
I had some apps on it, Facebook being one of them. The device was goins soooo slow (not even 2G of the available 6 being used) so I did as instructed and backed it up, restored it and then put the info back into it. When I tried to download the Facebook app...it said that I had a 4.2.1 system and needed a 4.3 something system? Can anyone provide any help on this or am I doing something wrong?
Thank you in advanceSorry. There's nothing anyone can do. The current version of the facebook app will not run on 4.2.1. The iPhone 3G won't run anything higher than 4.2.1. You're stuck.
Maybe it's time to buy yourself a new iPod Touch. -
It's frustrating to not be able to view my own Facebook page using the iPad mini. I have the iPad 1 and the Facebook app works fine there, I can see my personal FB page with 1. Is this characteristic of the iPad mini only?
Try this:
Make sure IOS is updated to latest version
Reboot device by pressing both the home button and sleep/wake (power) buttons at the same time for 10-15 seconds until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
If that doesn't work then reset the device by going to settings/general/reset/reset all settings
(no media or data will be deleted from the device, this will only take a minute).
If none of those work, delete the app and install it again. -
My facebook app seems to be frozen and i cant get it to do anything. what can i do to fix this problem or uninstall the app and then reinstall it?
Try closing the Facebook app completely and see if it works ok when you re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Facebook app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Facebook app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. -
Facebook app unable to load friends list
Hello everyone. About 3 days ago my facebook app stopped loading my friends list. I get a message saying "your friends list is unavailable". Because of this, I've been unable to post on someones wall, send a msg, or poke. The only thing I can do is upate my status, upload photos, and respond to a post someone sends me. I've search for a fix but can't find one. I've restarted the phone, reinstalled the app. Nothing is fixing it.
Only 2 things I can think of has worked for me when I had similar problem. 1. Clear Cache. 2. Log out of FB on your BB then log back in. You get to both of these in FB by pressing the menu key then scroll down to options and select one. Hope this helps.
Edit: One afterthought was to go to My Account in FB on your pc and click on the Mobile Tab. Then re-submit the mobile number for activation. It's worth a try.

Please help. My facebook app will not open on my iphone 4. I deleted it,numerous times and downloaded it again. It uploads, but when you click on the icon, it flickers then closes.
Help.Then the next step would be to restore your phone. My advice is that prior to restoring you import your photos and videos to your computer and back up your contacts (by syncing them with iCloud or to a supported program on your computer using iTunes) as a number of users report losing these when restoring their device.

I Have just updated my iphone 5 Facebook app, to version 11.0 and do not like it. Is it possible for me to go back to my previous version?
Okay, I found the answer myself. Going to about:config and setting browser.showQuitWarning to true, restored that option and brought it back. Thanks to anyone who is about to post. If this is false by default, it has got to change.

My facebook app crashes as i open it. I ave rebootes the system on my iphone still no use. I also uninstalled the app and put a new one but its the same. Please advice . Using iphone 5 Nd ios7.0.3
doesn't matter what iphone you have, the issue isn't your phone, but with facebook, either contact the app devloper or look at their support site to troubleshoot. Or leave them a review stating your issue.

Why yahoo/gmail retrieval and facebook app so so slow when in WIFI. But using the internet to check for emails and facebook is fast using the same WIFI connection??

Yes tried resetting the wifi connection and problem still persist.
Here it is...to make it clear. Connected thru the same wifi at home...
-> emails (yahoo/gmail) and facebook WEBSITES are working fine and fast when using/accessing thru a browser (chrome/samsung browser) - no problem with this.
-> emails (yahoo/gmail) and facebook APP is soooooo sloooww (thru the App). Slow I mean comparing it to using their browser/websites... news feeds/emails refreshing so quickly but not when using the APP installed in Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Slow like - It will take around 5-10minutes just to get your emails and news feed refreshed.
THIS HAPPENS ONLY WHEN CONNECTED THRU A WIFI which has a speed of 10-20mb. It is not happening when connected to the network data/plan.
My wife has the same Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (coming from different provider at&t) - same setup (emails, fb app), same wifi connection, but she's not experiencing anything like it.
Not sure why, I dont want to believe that while connected to a WIFI, Verizon is restricting anything and ******* me off to make me switch to my data plan connection everytime - which is Unfair!
Was there a known issue similar about this case?

I'm using an iphone 4S with IOS 6. Before the upgrade I was able to share thigns from my news feed on facebook and change pictures (profile, cover) from my phone. After upgrading I cannot share or change pictures or articles. I've tried resetting my phone, deleting and re-installing fb app, but no success. Would appreciate any help, suggestions...Cheers
I've never been able to share FaceBook posts nor seen the option using the iOS FaceBook app regardless the FaceBook app and iOS version. I can Like and I can Comment, and if I select a link or video to view under iOS 6, I can use the Share option for the link or video, but not for a post.

I just downloaded the Facebook app onto my iPod, but it won't log me in.
I just inherited an iPod 4 from my sister. She removed all her settings (and apparently most of her apps, only a MoonPig remained) and her accounts and stuff. She used to have the Facebook app, and it worked fine for her. I redownloaded it, and when I typed in my password, it, as per my user settings, told me to expect an SMS with a security code. I did indeed get that text, and I put it in. It spends aaaaages loading, and then either just keeps loading or goes briefly past the log in page, but after just showing the 'menu bar' of the app (basically the blue thing with the buttons on the top, which allows you tu update the status) very briefly, before any content is shown, it just goes right back to the log in page. I've synced my iPod to iTunes on my laptop, and set up my Apple account (obvs, or I wouldn't have been able to get any apps). Can someone please tell me why it won't let me in? It apparently accepts me logging in fine, because I got an email telling me that a security passcode has been entered and someone has logged into my Fb using an iPod (i.e. me). But it won't let me actually use the app. I've redownloaded many times, restarted my iPod, still doesn't work. Quick help would be much appreciated.
P.s. I also downloaded the seperate Facebook Messenger, and that works fine.Meg St._Clair wrote:

Resetting your device by pressing and holding the power and Home buttons until the silver apple appears will not delete any data. -

Actually Brooke, iTunes did that for additional Security purposes. It's not corruption. If iTunes is corrupt, they could've not entitled customers for refund when the customers does not want what they bought. If you're going to delete the account, all of your purchases will be gone. The security questions are originally set-up by you. If you can't remember setting them up, iTunes would likely ask you three questions. If it is asking you 3 questions, it means it's asking you to setup the questions now. If it's asking you 2 questions, it means it has been configured by YOU before. Go to appleid.apple.com to manage your apple id and see if you have a rescue email address where you can easily send the reset security questions email.

Unable to retrieve full contact screen by clicking track pad/ Facebook app update coincidence?
Recently I discovered that when I navigate to a particular contact (it just happens to be the people I talk, email, text with most often) their information doesn't open up when I click on the trackpad. This only seems to be happening with specific contacts and not the majority of people in my address book. At this point I can only get my frequent contact's specific information (phone numbers, email addresses etc) by clicking the trackpad to find their contact name, clicking again on the menu key (I cannot click view either) and then selecting email, call, sms, mms etc and only then can I do the specific task. This is a new problem so I'm wondering if I've turned off some feature on my frequent contacts when I updated my FAcebook app on my phone. Help!!

Doubtful.
I assume you're speaking of viewing those contacts from navigating to the Address Book?
Try a simple reboot on the BlackBerry in this manner:

Help with new facebook app idea
I created a drawing facebook app that allows users to draw on Graffiti Walls. If anyone wants to see the app LIVE right now, it's at, [link removed by moderator]. I made this app using Flash, Actionscript 3 and MySQL for the database. PHP for the serverside stuff.
Currently each user is allowed his or her own two favorite colors, a message of the day text and also a signature text. I would like to add the ability for a user to store a URL to a mp3 file.(I am not stupid and i'm not allowing users to host mp3 files). Just a link to an mp3 file. Then when you visit that persons wall, the mp3 file loads up.
I guess what I'm looking for is a good mp3 file host to use? One that offers an upload API would be ideal. Anyone help me with this?
[moved from AS3 forum]The storage used in that display is only an estimate. What do you see, when you select your Macintosh HD in the Finder and look at the sizes in the "Finder > File > Get Info" panel for your harddisk? The free storage is shown in the General brick of the Info panel:
The migration may be needing more free storage, if your iPhoto Library has a corruuption and needs repairing.
Try the iPhoto Library First Aid Tools before you try to migrate the library again to Photos:
Make a backup copy on an external drive.
Then try the iPhoto Library First Aid Tools on your iPhoto Library to repair the permissions and to repair the database.
To repair hold down the alt/option and the command key simultaneously while double clicking the iPhoto application in the Applications folder to launch the iPhotos Library First aid tools. Hold down both keys firmly and long enough, until the First Aid panel will appear.
The select "Repair database". Repeat with "repair Permissions".
If it still does not suffice, repeat with "Rebuild Library".
Then try to migrate the library again to Photos by dragging it onto the Photos icon in the Dock.
