Facebook Birthday Reminders - Don't Dismiss

I've got my playbook configured to add Facebook Birthday reminders to the local calendar, which it seesm to have done fine, with the default reminders being set for 2 days before.
This is fine and I get the reminders on schedule, however when I Dismiss the reminders, they simply pop back up again a short while later, almost as if I'd hit snooze instead.
Basically every time I pick up my playbook, I have to start off by dimissing all the upcoming birthday events.  The worst of it is that sometimes when the notification appears, it turns on the screen which was blanked at the time, menaing that its using up more battery.
I think that deleteing the current instance of the birthday (which hopefully keeps all the recurring instances for next year) sorts the problem, but surely i shouldn't have to do this?
Anyone else seeing this problem.

I guess theres a fix for this.
I have a BB curve 9320 and here's what I did :
First of all, uncheck the 'connect facebook to BB calendar' option in Facebook options. This will make sure there will not be anything added to BB calendar from facebook in future. Now lets get back to present where we can still see the Facebook notifications crowding the panel.
Go to notifications panel and click on each of facebook notifications. You will enter your calendar. Then 'delete this series' from the menu options. Do likewise for the three items in notification panel. Now, if you click on any of them, it shouldn't direct to BB calendar but instead show an error.
Now, restart your phone. In notification panel, you can see 3 new items from facebook (this might take a little time during which you can see the previous 3 notifications, but be patient).
Once new items are apperaing, repeat the same process, restarting your phone everytime.
After a few attempts, once calendar gets rid of all exixting notifications from facebook (this number can be seen decreasing everytime we restart, from options on calnedar), the problem will be solved.
Cheers!!!

  • Facebook Birthday Reminders not working

Just like the title says - my FB birthday reminders don't pop up. Under Settings, Accounts, Facebook - notifications are on, birthday reminder is set to On the Day at 9 AM. I've restarted the device, pulled battery, wiped device, pretty sure I've checked all settings. I can visually see the birthday in my calendar but just no reminder to notify. Any suggestions?

I have the same problem. I have no notification for my facebook birthday reminders.

  • I've set my iphone not to include Facebook birthdays in my calendar but it keeps doing it. How do I fix it for good so I don't get FB birthday calendar reminders?

In Settings > Facebook, I have Calendar set to "off".  In Calendars, I have FB birthdays unchecked. For some reason, it seems to default back to including FB birthdays in my calendar and I don't know how to set it to "off" for good.
I don't want to unsynch FB because I have a lot of contacts whose information I want, I just don't want the constant birthday reminders.

If you feel you have been ripped off, you should take the matter up with
the person who sold you the iPhone. Perhaps Amazon can assist since
the iPhone was not correctly described.

  • Don't show Facebook birthdays in the notification bar?

Here's one I can't figure out.  Whenever I pull down the notification bar, it shows me birthdays for my Facebook friends.  I can't seem to make this go away.  Here's what I've tried...
In the Calendars app settings, I have Facebook birthdays turned off.  This works properly and those Facebook birthdays no longer appear in my calendar.
In my Facebook app settings, I have turned off access to my Calendar.  The other two settings (Contacts and Facebook) are turned on.
Other than that, I don't know what to try.  I'm wondering if this is some kind of bug.  Any thoughts?

the padlock means they are using a secure server (HTTPS,versus HTTP).  <any sites are always secure, others only use secure when they are doing something that needs security.  if they are asking for info from you, like a password, or bank account, you need to see the padlock.  for general viewing, it does not matter, and does not mean the site is dodgy.

  • Birthday Reminders still showing up despite being unticked? (Outlook Calender)

Hi, I have my Windows 8.1 Outlook calender synced with my iPhone (linked through my hotmail address). The reminders for one always show up on the other when they are synced and on wifi which is great. However there is one main problem. The birthday calender under the outlook section and also under the main section are unticked. But I still seem to get notifications at midday every day about whos birthday it is the following day. This is annoying as my outlook is linked to everything, i.e multiple inboxes and facebook etc so I get a notification from pretty much every single contact I have. This also is annoying when using siri to create and event as at the end he will say 'there are already 7 events lined up for today which overlap do you wish for me to proceed'. That 7 being the birthday reminders. I dont know if this is a small glitch or what but it is starting to get really annoying. Any advice would be great!
    Thanks.

  • How do I turn off Facebook birthdays

How do i remove Facebook's birthday notifications?
I want to keep Facebook calendar integration, but I don't want the daily birthday notifications.
Is there a way to turn them off using Facebook, iCloud, or any other way?

In my opinion this is an "on purpose hack" by Facebook as I feel it is to tempt you to log onto Facebook to wish happy birthday, and thus expose you to adverts.
I have disabled Facebook birthdays in my calendar so many times, but it keeps getting checked again as if by magic.
I have disabled access to my calendar from Facebook, even disabled Facebook notifications in Settings, and the option in the Calendar keeps re-selecting itself.
I have now disabled all push notifications in the Facebook app under settings, lets see what happens.
If this is a hack, I hope Facebook get a huge fine for illegal privacy and hacking law breaches.  Lets see if the authorities in America or the EU stand up for consumers.

  • I have two birthday reminders for single contacts?

Firstly, I apologise if this has been asked elsewhere but it was proving difficult to search through all the other threads.
Ok so for some reason i've got two different birthday reminders for some contacts. I'm using Windows Live Mail and I synced all my contacts from there onto my ipod and the birthdays have carried over (I think, not sure if all of them but hey). I am sure that I did manually put the birthdays in for a couple of contacts a while before I synced all the contacts from WLM so that could be the reason for some, but there are definitely others which I couldn't have done - reason being I don't know the date of their birthday. One has a red dot next to it, the other is a picture of a present/gift.
    Here's a screenshot:
Now if possible, I would prefer to have them all just as the one with the present next to it... so anyone know what's going on here?
Also, some of them show up with the nickname instead of the full name (I fixed them all before I synced). I double-checked in WLM and in the contacts folder in my document and this guy had an empty box for 'nickname' on both accounts.... yet it still shows up as his nickname
So anyone know how to fix this? I'm a bit of an OCD freak so it's driving me insane haha
    Thanks

Not to worry. When you imported your calendars from Windows Live, it synced the birthdays you had there. Since you also entered the birthdays for some of the same people on their contact information as well, it shows up twice because it automatically pushed the birthday to the calendar. You have to choose between Windows Live calendars or your device's conatcts. Essentially speaking, it would the best decision to choose the one that has the most birthdays already entered. I'll give you both scenarios, however:
If you want to get rid of the Windows Live birthday:
-Tap the event that has the dot next to it
    -Edit the event
-Delete the event (and all recurring events)
**I believe this will also delete the event across all other devices that have the Windows Live account synced
If you want to get rid of the contact's birthday that you entered manually:
-Go into your Contacts on your iOS device
-Go to the contact that has the birthday that is repeated (for example, the pictures that you included: "Calum Leask.")
    -Edit the contact
-Remove the birthday from the contact
I hope I was of help

  • How do I set birthday reminders without having to create a separate contact card for each person in a family?

I'm trying to set birthday reminders in iCal based on the birthday field in Contacts. But in order to create separate birthday entries for individuals in the same family, you have to set up a separate card for each person. Anyway around that?

Thank you to johnbeardy, Anthony.Ralph and Rob for your replies.  The OP (I guess that's me, Maps Man) has been happy with CS since CS2. I have upgraded etc and used it successfully.  Unfortunately, I have recently up graded my camera as well but CS5 would not read the new RAW files.  My natural inclination was to look at a CS upgrade but Adobe effectively priced me out. It obviously is not interested in amateur hobbyists anymore perhaps because they don't produce enough cash for Adobe.   Even the new "Cheap" offer they are offering is still very pricey as well as being ongoing for life. I looked at a variety of alternatives including Elements, Lightroom and DxO Pro 8.  In the meantime I used a combination of Nikon's ViewNX2 to judge my uploads off camera then Adobe DNG Converter to change them to DNG and back to CS5 for the fun bit.  Rightly or wrongly, I decided that Lightroom was the least objectionable both for cost and user friendliness.  And I do like the results I get using it.  I can now go back to coming straight out of camera, do a substantial amount of edit work and go directly to CS5 for final touches such as size and frame (perhaps Lightroom does that also but I have not yet found how!  Time will tell.)  It is just that I find the first part so annoying.  I do not mind organisations giving us suggestions (e.g. Catalogues) I just find it a nuisance that I cannot say "Thanks, but no thanks it is too complicated for what I want."  As for using it "properly" it is debatable whether Adobe's engineers have done it "properly" if they don't give that choice.  After all, CS5 etc does not need catalogues to work well so why should Lightroom's catalogues be "proper?"
Obviously I will be sticking with Lightroom and I will try to find my way round the problem.  I had hoped that there may have been some way to customize it for my needs but there does not seem to be.
Thank you again for your comments.

  • Duplicate Facebook Birthday Entries In Calendar After Using Device Swap in BB Link

    Hello,
I recently swapped a Verizon Z10 for a T-Mobile Z10. After using the BlackBerry Link software to perform the device swap I have 2 entries for each facebook birthday in my calendar. I tried deleting one copy, but the only option in the overflow menu is to share the birthday.

  • Can't turn off Facebook birthdays

I have an iPhone 4s running iOS 6.1.2.  I have synced Facebook contacts with phone contacts, I also have the Facebook App.
I have disabled Facebook in notifications (no banners, off on every option), I go into Calendar and disable the "Birthdays" under "Facebook", I have even diabled Birthdays for phone contacts.
Once another birthday comes along the option in Facebook Birthdays for Calendar is enabled as if by magic and up pops a notification.  I disable it again and once another birthday comes along, hey presto it enables itself again with another message. The phone contacts birthdays does not re-enable itself, just the Facebook Birthdays.
Seems like either a bad Facebook "bug" which is legally a privacy infringment, or an iPhone bug.

The bug is that Facebook Birthdays calendars keeps turning back on by itself.  Once I turn off birthdays, they disapear from the calendar, then re-appear after something turns the option back on.
Bug is that something is turning the calendar back on without permission.  Disabling a usefull feature due to what seems to be a bug (or maybe done on purpose by the Facebook App) is not a solution.
If it is the Facebook App doing this, then that is against the law in EU and USA and it goes against the Apple and legal privacy policies and laws.
I know it seems minor, but due to privacy laws and my phone is being altered without my consent, this could be quite a serious situation.  If it is the Facebook app doing it (I'm not saying it is), this would encourage people to go onto Facebook to wish birthday wishes, then they are committing a crimnal offence by altering a phone contrary to the the users consent for their profit (adds are shown to us in Facebook which profit them).

  • Unsyncing Facebook birthdays and calendar

  • Facebook birthdays

I updated my phone to the iOS6 and went though all the setup with facebook and have it set to work with calendar.  At first all my facebook birthdays were there and thats what i wanted, but now they are not.  I don't know where they went.

Hi - this idea did not work - and I do not have a Facebook ICAL listed.
I have searched everywhere for a solution to this problem and can't find it.
I have tried clearing the cache, uninstalling, pulling batter, reinstalling, wiping, everything - and it will not work.
When I log into Facebook for the first time after reinstalling and go through the setup menu it says "getting calender events" for about 2 seconds, then it stops.  I know it isn't getting them and the calender isn't listed under my calenders.
I also don't think it is syncing the contact information either.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?  Please!?!?!?

  • Delete old birthday reminders

How do you delete old birthday reminders in the standard iphone calendar?.

well I can't see th problem.  the old reminders are in the past and will not show up again. If i tap on a day in the calendar that happens to be someones birthday then that is the only entry I see for that person.  I don't see the issue.  So if someone has a birthday on 10 May say and I tap on10 May then I only see that person's briday reminder.  Why would I see anything else?
