FaceBook button missing in iPhoto 8.0.4, menu option does nothing

I can see the MobileMe, Email and Flickr buttons in iPhoto (latest version). The FaceBook button is missing. Clicking an album and then the FaceBook menu item in Share does nothing.
Neither does the Flickr button or menu item. MobileMe does bring up a dialog box but I have no idea where the FaceBook button disappeared to and how to bring it back and actually make it work. I have posted albums OK in the past.

You remove that file.
Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.
*What's the plist file?*
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.

  • Facebook album missing from iphoto

I am using both iPhoto and Aperture, and both are linked to my Facebook account. However, the primary photo album I use on Facebook - the default "Mobile uploads" album - does not show up in either application. All the other albums do...and if I create a new album in Facebook, it nearly immediately shows up in iPhoto. I've tried removing my Facebook account and re-adding it, but each time I do it goes through and syncs up the albums and omits the Mobile Uploads.
Any ideas how to gently nudge iPhoto (and/or Aperture) into noticing that album on Facebook?
Here's a clue about what may be the source of the problem. Some time ago, when I first connected Aperture to my Facebook account something happened and I had two Mobile Uploads albums and, if I remember correctly, they seemed to be duplicates of each other. So I deleted one of them, thinking somehow Aperture was goofing off and displaying the same album twice. But I believe what I later found, is that the folder that was left behind was a static copy of the "live" Mobile Uploads album on Facebook - so I think I deleted the live one. This became clear when I added new photos to the album on Facebook and they were not updating in Aperture.
So it seems like somewhere my Mac is being told to ignore that album. Interestingly, I got a new Mac a couple of months ago, and it also ignores Mobile Uploads folder so it seems like that instruction is coming from Facebook, rather than being controlled by something locally on my Mac (I didn't import anything from my old Mac).
Just theories...I have no idea what's actually going on. But I want to tell iPhoto and/or Facebook "Hey look...forget what you may have been told in the past. Here's a Facebook account, and here's a copy of iPhoto. You guys talk, and show all the albums currently in that Facebook account in iPhoto."
    Any help?

I think if you go to this link you can fill out a form which sends a message to iTunes support:
    https://expresslane.apple.com/Symptoms.do
I found that by going to the Express Lane (https://expresslane.apple.com/), clicking "iTunes" under product categories, clicking "iTunes Store", and selecting "Purchases, Billing, and Redemption".

Our I-Pad has never connected with our wireless internet from since we got it. Our laptop connects just fine and we have a strong signal.  We now have a locked screen stated that I-cloud has not been backed up in 9 weeks. Plug into internet?  However when you click the button to try to get to the internet it does nothing. The power off button is greyed out so not an option to shut down. Just froze on that screen?
Any help would be greatly appreciated:)
    Thank you in advance.

    Try this.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Photos deleted from facebook are now missing from iPhoto

How do I recover photos that went missing after deleting an album from facebook?

As documented iPhoto and Face book are synced and if you delete photos that weruploaded using the iPhoto/FB uploaded then deleting photos on eaither platform will delete them ont he other platform - that is what syncing is all about - keeping the two the same

  • All my photo's are missing from iPhoto and I'm getting a message "your photo library is either in use by another application or has become unreadable"

Yesterday when I opened iPhoto all of my photo's were missing.  After many hours of frustrating time looking how to resolve, I decided to try again this morning.  When I tried to open iphoto, I got the message I referenced above regarding the library is either in use or has become unreadable.
My photos are not in iPhoto anymore.  There's nothing there.  iphoto acts like its never even been set up.    I have iPhoto '11 version 9.4.3. I have OS X Lion version 10.7.5.  However, when I go to "All My Files" and then under "images", there are over 10,000 images.  I see my photos (I guess it's all of them - i have no idea how many there were) and other "images" also.  When i go to "pictures" I only see the 15 or so items I have scanned.  In "iPhoto Library", there is 1 picture of what looks like a deck of playing cards with flowers on them - I don't know where that came from.  But also in "iPhoto Library"  under the heading "desktop", it shows a size of over 27GB and under "kind" it says "package".  Still under desktop and "Photo Booth Library" it shows 53GB and under "kind" it says "Photo Booth Library".  Before I opened iPhoto to view my photo's, I went to "empty trash" yesterday (not in iPhoto) and it showed over 65,000 items to delete.  There were no more than 200 that I could actually see.  So, I don't understand.  I let it delete a couple of thousand before I stopped it because I didn't know what it was doing.  I know - not too smart.  I don't know if that has anything to do with iPhoto or not; I'm just throwing that out there.  Today I went to "empty trash" and it now shows the 200 items that I can see in there.  Don't know what happened.
I do have a time capsule but not sure if I’m using it correctly. If you were to tell me to restore to a certain point, I’d have to be walked thru the process.
I downloaded “iPhoto Library Manager”, not exactly sure how to use it, but got a message basically saying the library nor the database could be loaded and that album data file for the library “iPhoto Library” could not be read.
I’ve spent hours and hours and hours searching the web for answers but I’m scared to do much of anything thinking I could end up losing all my photos if I haven’t already.
    Please help!
    Thank you!
    James

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start
with Option #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Facebook Problems - Different than iPhoto

Hi, sorry for the long post!!!
First, I'm new to Aperture and was planning on moving from iPhoto.  I was testing and have noticed a lot differences when enbabling Facebook inetgration that has now raised a number of questions & concerns.
First, with iPhoto - connecting to your facebook account sync's all existing albums but doesn't put those images in the library, whereas, when doing the same in Aperture, it does.  The first problem is that if you decide to import the picture that Aperture synced from Facebook, it doesn't show up, if you have don't allow duplicates checked.  The problem is the file is not the same size and further more, if you delete it from your library, it removes it from facebook and won't allow you to undelete (or put back) from the trash.
I guess the bottomline is Facebook integration is really different from iPhoto and unless you only have 1 copy of Aperture and start using Facebook only when you start with Aperture, it might all work right.  In my case, I have multiple computers running Aperture and have already sync'd some photos with iPhoto and Facebook.
This is probably not easy to follow and maybe looking for any references on how the Facebook integration with Aperture is really designed to work and the workflow associated with it.
    Thanks,
    -chris

I was having the same problems. I think it is a problem with the way Facebook blocks applications.
I solved the problem by clicking on the iPhoto Uploader hyperlink in the uploader box, telling Facebook to Block the iPhoto Uploader application. I then went back to iPhoto and attempted to upload a photo. After the login screen all I got was a screen that said close. I did this, then went back to the iPhoto Uploader option in Facebook and told it to Allow the application. Then when I selected pictures in iPhoto and clicked on the Facebook button, I logged in as before and was presented with the option to publish the picture.
Now everything works .... my guess is that facebook was rejecting the request from iPhoto to publish, but fails to show an error message. The solution is to disallow then allow the iPhoto Application from Facebook (using the hyperlink in the iPhoto Uploader login box.)

  • Key photo missing after iPhoto froze

My iphoto froze while I was organizing photos.  I had to force quit.  When I opened it back up about 10 key photos were missing and I couldn't get them to show up.

    You could try this:
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button,
and select the library you want to add from those in the selection window.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note 1: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost.
Note 2:  Your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.

  • IDVD menu buttons missing

When I open the theme menu pages neither the "Play Film" or "Scene Selection" buttons appear. Anyone else have this problem? Any solutions? I've looked through the basic help pages and David Pogues iMovie&iDVD book. Nada...
Is there any way to add these two buttons? I understand that they're supposed to be on every theme menu page.
Sorry if the answer is self evident.....
    C.

You have to add an iMovie HD movie with chapter markers to the main menu to created those. Every Theme menu is empty until you add something.

  • Photos missing from iPhoto 11

A random assortment of photos that I use to teach have gone missing from my iPhoto library.  They were present when I showed them to my class last week, and when I tried to display the same photos again this week, they were gone.  One big block of missing photos is from the same date; a few others are from different dates.  I have tried rebuilding the library--no luck.  The original files are not in the Masters folder, either.  I know I didn't delete them manually because A) I have never emptied the trash from within iPhoto (everything I've ever placed in the trash is still there), and B) I know better than to mess with the Library package.
I'm guessing at this point that the photos are just plain gone, but can anyone explain how or why?  Is there anything I might have done inadvertently to cause the disappearance?  Is this a known issue with iPhoto?  It's driving me crazy.  Thanks.

Others have inadvertantly deleted photos via the Finder and the My Photos item in the left hand pane of each Finder window.
It's not an iPhoto issue.  Those original photos were deleted from the hard drive somehow but not by iPhoto.  You can get a library without those "missing" photo thumbnails as follows:
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button,
navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.

  • Facebook Problems - Uploading in iPhoto '09

I'm having a problem. When I try to upload photos to Facebook I get the "Set Up" window. I log in to my account and once it is on it tells me to close the window and go back to the application, but then it will ask me again to "Set Up" the account. It will continue doing this forever. • Delete the Flickr (and Facebook) Account preference on iPhoto

How can I delete my Flickr and Facebook account information from iPhoto? I tried to delete the iPhoto .plist file and then, when I started iPhoto again it just had all configured, I then deleted the iPhoto Library and even the Application, but it does not delete the Flickr account preference when I reinstalled iPhoto, does anybody knows what to do?

Sorry, my english is very poor.

If you've got an album published to flickr, click on it in your side bar of iphoto, and then click the settings button in the bottom right corner. When the window pops up, click on remove account from iphoto.
Once thats done, close the window and click settings again, and it will prompt you to link iphoto with your flickr account again - just enter in the new details and it's all done.

  • "events" is missing from iPhoto source list / left-hand menu

The "events" menu option is suddenly missing from the left-hand side menu of my iPhoto library.  See screenshot:
Photos, Faces, Places, but no Events!  It used to be there and now it's not, not sure what happened.  When I open a different iPhoto library it is there, so it seems like a problem with my iPhoto library?  I tried rebuilding the iPhoto database and that didn't fix it.  The event data still seems to be there, when I browse the photos view pictures are still grouped by events.  Anyone have any suggestions?  I'm using iPhoto v 9.6 on Yosemite.  Thanks in advance for your help!

    Try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete the contents the following folder: User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: For Mavericks and Yosemite,  go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
where you can check the Show Library Folder checkbox.

  • Why is the "overview" button missing from Preview scan?

When I try to scan something with Preview, the "overview" button no longer shows up in the menu. To the left of the scan button there's an empty button, but it doesn't function as the overview button. It functions the same as the scan button.

iPhoto menu -> Provide iPhoto Feedback
Alternative: Click on the top right hand corner of the photo or use the keyboard short cut (command-period)
