Facebook cannot open Facebook messages

I can see the messages selection on the facebook sidebar, but when I click on it nothing happens. This occurs on iMac running Snow Leopard, and a Deskpro running Leopard. The strange thing is that Facebook messages opens on my iPad. So if I want to read messages I have to go to the iPad. The only problem is scrolling within some Facebook messages is not possible, so I have to use both a mac and iPad to use all the features of Facebook. The inability of opening facebook messages is a big problem for me. Any ideas

If you are accessing Facebook with the Safari browser, from the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Preferences then select the Autofill tab. Click the Edit button next to: Other forms. Delete .facebook.com.
Now from the same Menu Bar click the Security tab. Click: Show Cookies. Delete ALL Facebook related cookies.
Relaunch Safari. Navigate to Facebook and try accessing your messages now.

Then I get man pages in English instead of my language.

I post this just in case someone has the same problem. Finally I was digging into /usr/sare/man and I found that apple just includes translations in man for English, French, Italian, Russian and Polish as you can see in the following listing of files:

fr.ISO8859-1 man1 man6 pl whatis
fr.UTF-8 man2 man7 pl.ISO8859-2
it man3 man8 pl.UTF-8

I don't know if it is possible to download the spanish translation from somewhere. If someone knows please let me know.

OK, just remembered that someone had posted a solution for this "login loop" issue.
If you follow the directions here and be sure to enter all of this EXACTLY as it appears here, you may be able to solve this problem.
You will first need to boot into single user mode, which will bring you to a scary looking text only screen. Don't be frightened.
To do this, startup holding the Cmd-S keys together. At the entry which shows root# enter the following exactly. Write it down now, since you won't be able to copy/paste. Pay attention to case and spaces. Everything is lower case. The only spaces are between /sbin/mount and -uw, between -uw and / and between rm and /var/audit/current
Type in
/sbin/mount -uw /
Hit return and then at the next root# prompt, type in
rm /var/audit/current
Then hit return and at the next root# prompt type in "reboot" no quotes. Don't type in anything new until you get the root# prompt after entering each command.
If after entering rm /var/audit/current, you get a message back saying "no such file," then just type in "reboot" at the prompt.

HT204065 installed facebook upgrade to my iphone 4 and now i cannot open email messages on my phone

installed a facebook upgrade on my iphone 4. Now I can no longer open facebook messages on my phone. It states we moved over to messenger. and will not allow me to read email any longer. I can only get on news feed, etc.

You have to install the Facebook Messenger app from the App Store. They moved all messages to that system some time ago.

We have a user who cannot open certain sent messages - I reconstructed her mailbox to no avail - I also copied the messages to my mailbox and reconstructed, I also couldn't open them.
Once one of the problem msgs is clicked, every message becomes unreadable, it seems to break the javascript function (javascript:parent.M(n)) which is responsible for popping up msg windows for reading.
Re-logging in, or a refresh fixes. Until one is clicked again.
My Firebug debugger shows:
an "unterminated literal string" error and references this for example:

I was told this particular user used Safari... could that influence the transfer-encoding? Or is ME messing up?
I'm not sure it's possible - but might he have created this in ME from an already received, but messed up message (e.g. one w/ the quoted-printable encoding)? In ME it seems he wouldn't be able to open these for editing.
The X-Mailer header is in the first set of headers,
The second set contains the multi-part - printed quotable and in-line enclosed (as opposed to attached) Word .doc.

I cannot open mail messages on my ipad mini. I can see the message in the bar on the left, but it will,not open in the message area

Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings

I cannot open received email. It appears in the inbox, but it WILL NOT OPEN. When I switch to Safari, it will open, but I prefer the features of Firefox. InDesign Content Manager 'Cannot open' error message

We are attempting to open InDesign version 2, 'indd' files, with version 3.0.1. We are getting the 'Cannot open xxxx.indd. Please upgrade your plugins to their latest versions, or upgrade to the latest version of Adobe InDesign'.
We are able to use a workaround found on the Adobe site by opening the file in version 2, exporting to an .inx file and then opening/saving using version 3.0.1. This is very cumbersome as we have many files in the older format.
Why can't we just open the file directly in version 3.0.1 as it seems like the program should be backwards compatible? Are there additional plug-ins or updates that need to be loaded?

It sounds like you're being misled by Adobe's misleading version numbering. InDesign CS is 3.0.something. InDesign CS2 is 4.0.something. If the files were actually from pre-CS Version 2, then they ought to open up in CS 3.0.1 without exporting. My exposure to InDesign 2 was pretty minimal, so there might be something here that I don't know about opening up InDesign 2 files in InDesign CS (3). So, if my suspicions are correct, then the workaround you're using is actually backsaving from a newer version (CS2 version 4.0.X) to an older version (CS version 3.0.X).

AFter updating Firefox, I can login to facebook but cannot open new messages and cannot logout from FAcebook

Since upgrading from Firefox 10 to Firefox 15.0.1 I have problems with Facebook. I upgraded to Firefox 16.0.1 and still have the same problem (with Facebook).
There are two problems.
1. If you have a new message (for example), a small red square with a number - eg '1' or '2' appears in the top left hand corner. When I click on this/these squares, it will not open - there fore I am unable to see what the message is.
2. I am unable to logout. When I click on the small arrow, instead of a box dropping down it takes me to account settings.
Even if I close the webpage, I am still logged in until I close Firefox. I have searched on google but can not find any help or answer to my problem.
I have tried the suggestion listed on Firefox, but nothing helps. I have cleared cache, cookies, history etc. and done all the things listed on Firefox, but still the problem persists.
I do not have this problem with Internet Explorer. I do not like Internet Explorer and have no wish to use it. Please help.

"Cannot Open iTunes" messages won't stop!

I have iTunes open in my Wife's account. I am working in my account on the same PC (Windows 7), but I am NOT trying to use iTunes. However, the dialog box keeps popping up giving me a warning that iTunes cannot be opened.
I tried turning off the iTunes helper service but that didn't stop the warnings.
Any ideas? I searched and couldn't find anyone with this problem that had found a solution.

Then it's something specific to your PC that I don't know about.
If you're PC-savvy, you could troubleshoot using SysInternal's Process Monitor. It's not for the faint of heart and will take several hours to sort out.
There is always the workaround of going into your wife's account and closing itunes. iTunes doesn't support fast user switching on windows, and that's why you're seeing that message.

The difficulty here is finding out what is trying to start itunes on your account. Usually it is a plug-in, like an instant messenger "what's playing now" that causes it. But you have no plug-ins listed. And presumably, no ipod connected to the PC with itunes set to open when an ipod is connected.
So like I said, the only way I know of finding it is with Process Monitor.

3GS - Exchange Mail, Cannot open any messages or scroll

I have a 3GS and an exchange email account. I receive new mail but after I go into my Inbox I see the messages but cannot click on them to open or scroll up and down to see other messages. I have deleted the account and created from New and shut down the phone. It is up-to-date on software.
Please help.

The updater wasn't able to update all the files and some were left as older versions.<br />
You need to do a clean reinstall.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

* Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

E71 - cannot open/read messages anymore

I was messaging friends earlier, and I tried opening an old message in my Inbox, by scrolling to it and then using the function key in the middle of the d-pad, and it does nothing. I also tried selecting options->open, and still nothing.
Is anyone else having this problem? The only time I CAN view a message now, is when I receive a new message, and on the home screen, a small preview window shows the message and I can go to it directly from there, but after that, I can no longer open any other old messages.

Well I wouldn't advise deleting that file. That was a source of my recent problem. I was advised to download a mail update and for me that did the trick. That is what I would advise you. Good Luck!

Illustrator CC2014 won't reopen file just recently edited and closed. "Illustrator cannot open file" message.

Windows 7 Home Premium, Dell XPS desktop. First problems with AI in a LONG time. Used to be able to go to the control panel for programs and "repair" the installation, now can only un-install.
This file is originally from a previous version of AI, opened it in CC2014 and edited, nothing extensive, just text updates, and after closing, it won't open again. And the program crashed. After a re-start of the computer, I could open a different file, but not the "problem" file. After re-doing the edits on another (even earlier) copy of the source file, the same thing happened. I can place the file in InDesign, and export to pdf, which views fine. I plan to try to edit the InD pdf in Illustrator, to see what happens.
Otherwise the computer seems to be fine, all other apps seem stable. So far.

The file size is the same as the previous version. I placed the AI file into InD, made a pdf, and can open and edit that pdf in Illustrator. If I could get the "bad" file to open, I would save as to a new file, see if that would help, but since it won't open.... Just weird. I should have what I need now, so I don't plan to spend any more time on it. Thanks for thinking about it. I just hope I don't end up eventually having to uninstall/re-download and re-install Illustrator!
The only image is embedded, no link. I don't have any non-standard plug-ins. I will keep in mind about the preferences, but why only this 1 file having a problem with them? I did install some fonts for another job while also working on this; I will keep that in mind, too.
