Hi,
Although I don't have a Facebook I d have 3 other Jabber accounts logged in.
One is from Google and the others are from other Jabber servers.
My Google settings look like this,
Most Jabber server need SSL and the App will automatically make this port 5223.
However Google will let you change theirs to use port 443.
One of the other 2 is using "Automatically find Port and Server" and is using port 5222 and No SSL.
Whilst most will use SSL and port 5223 it is not true for every Jabber server.
I can never remember if the Facebook chat ID is @facebook.chat.com or @chat.facebook.com (I suspect the second)
You are using the Chat ID and not your regular Facebook ID ?
I can't follow the iChat link on this page as I can't log in
https://en-gb.facebook.com/sitetour/chat.php
I would check the set up page  but if that does not work I would work through all the settings possibles with the SSL, Ports, warn on insecure passwords etc.

  • Facebook-Problem in Mountain Lion

The Facebook-button in Notification Center doesn't work at all. Twitter is working fine but Facebook doesn't work. If I push the Post-button nothing happens. It's the same when I use the share-button in Safari: Twitter works, Facebook doesn't do anything. The window to write the Facebook-message doesn't appear.
I already deleted my Facebook-account in Mountain Lion's system preferences and put it back in but that wasn't any help. Does anybody know a solution??

I know the ans...first install os x mountain lion again above all your installation..then see the build it should be.. (12c60) then..update every thing..but dont install or update..."update for macbook pro and macbook air 2.0 "it is the culprit ...then hide that update..and remember to install offline version of combo and supplement update 10.8.2..ok..as sometimes when ur notification cetre not work then installoffline "combo and supp" updates...ok..REMEMBER NOT TO INSTALL MACBOOK AIR AND MACBOOK PRO 2.0 UPDATE...PLZ...AND USE UR SYSTEM...!! follow me https://www.twitter.com/ankit8083   https://www.facebook.com/ankit8083...good luck..DONT CHANGE UR BUILD..AS IF U WILL CHANGE IT THEN UR SHARE BUTTON WILL NOT WORK..IN NEW BUILD..!!And wait for apple to get new build after april 2013...but not download macbook pro and macbook air 2.0 update..which help in graphical improvements and some usb devices...!!

Where is the new Facebook integration on Mountain Lion?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
First, you have to add the Facebook account. Go to System Preferences > Mail, Contacts and Calendars, select Facebook and type your email address and Facebook account, so you will be able to post videos or photos on Facebook directly from OS X, post on Facebook on Notification Center, and receive notifications on Notification Center

  • Facebook events. Mountain Lion vs iOS 6.

Why can't I see Facebook events in mountain lion calendar as in iOS 6 if I have my calendar in iCloud? I can see Facebook birthdays without problems.

You need third party software thats why. I think there is a app that lets you do this for $2 in the app store.

  • Odd behavior during full screen video chat with Mountain Lion Messages?

I've recently upgraded to Mountain Lion on two MacBook Pros (from Lion) and have started to use the new Messages app. I've been using iChat for years and found it reliable for the most part.
However, I've noticed a new behavior that seems like a bug in the new Messages app.
    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Open Messages app
    2. Initiate a non-FaceTime video chat via the Buddy List or the main Messages window video button
    3. Once the video is started, click on the Full Screen button in the window title bar or in the black toolbar at the bottom of the video
    4. After the video has gone full screen, move the mouse cursor
    5. At this point, the video will slide over (like a Mission Control / Exposé space). The video chat is actually STILL running in full screen view as a dedicated space -- you can slide back with the trackpad or the keyboard as per normal Mission Control controls.
Step 5 is NOT the correct behavior as per OS X 10.7 Lion. Not to mention, the black toolbar is unusable and it's hard to reach the menu bar Full Screen toggle button since moving the cursor even one pixel makes the screen slide over.
Has anyone experienced this? If yes, is there a solution? How do we bring this to Apple's attention for a future fix?

I got the machine to reboot but I had to hold down the power button. I found an article on macworld that said to use the command +control+eject buttons to restart but no go. Nothing.
There really... REALLY ought to be some way to exit full screen in such a case.

  • How do I integrate Facebook on OSX Mountain Lion?

I am having problems trying to figure out how to integrate Facebook into OS X Mountain Lion. I just bought a Macbook Air, and I downloaded it a day after I received the notebook in the mail! Help please!

True OS integration is not yet available. Apple has given some indication that it will be on an update in the late fall of 2012.
Till then, just use your web browser, the "old fashioned" way.

But Apple should say that on the advertising campaing.
They do.  See here, about halfway down.

See the little gold "Coming this Fall" thingy in the corner?  The text also says "This fall, OS X will be even more Facebook friendly. With built-in Facebook support..."
It's been up there for months.

    Mail, Contacts, Calendar
    Press the +
Add Facebook and enter your account information

  • Where is Facebook integration in Mountain Lion?

I upgraded to Mountain Lion and found the Share option in Safari but can't find the Facebook sharing option. Also, the iCould icon is emtpy. Is this not activated yet?

    1) Facebook Sharing option will be released this fall we don't know when yet!
    2) iCloud Tabs are not yet avalaible, we have to wait until iOS 6 comes out [iCloud Tabs on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch requires iOS 6]
    Hope this helps !

  • Import messages chats from Mountain lion to Mavericks

    Hi,
I erased my MacBook Air which had Mountain lion installed in and just performed a new install of Mavericks. As I don't have Time machine anymore, I backed up all the data (including Library folders and stuff) in a hard drive.
The only issue I have is about restoring my data from the previous system's messages.app.
In the new Mavericks Messages.app, I can't find out how to import my old messages back. I tried to put the saved ~/Library/Messages/Archive folder in the new one, and even in the ~/Library//Containers/com.apple.iChat/Data/Library/Messages folder (I've noticed this path in another forum). But nothing works.
    Any idea, folks?
    Thanks.
    Ken

    Hi,
Did you change the Ownership of the files ?
Whilst you may have used the same Info from Mountain Lion to set up the Admin account and/or possibly your Mac User account as well then the computer will still regard them as being owned by someone else.
Find the files again (or the folder in the case of the Archive one)
Use the Get Info option when you right click.
Scroll to the bottom in the info Panel and check the Ownership.
I don't see that you put the chat.db items back in the ~/Library/Messages folder (with the other .db items as well.

  • Can I use Facebook integration with Mountain Lion without adding all my Facebook contacts to my contacts in Mountain Lion?

I wanted to post a picture from email straight to Facebook....  Mountain Lion asked if I wanted to add all my Facebook contacts to my Contacts app...  Do I need to do that?  I'd like to keep that separated...

Yes, you can keep your facebook contacts out of your contacts app.
Open system preferences>mail, contacts, and calendars>(your facebook account)>contacts
There should be a check box for contacts, if you uncheck it, your facebook contacts/friends should not end up in your contacts app.
I'm not 100% sure, sorry, I don't have facebook integration activated on my Mac.

Reseting the SMC should fix this.
