Facebook created tags disappearing from iphoto synced albums

I uploaded an album to FB via iphoto09. FB friends added tags of themselves. many of the tags are to people Im not even direct friends with. Then days later I noticed all the FB tags are gone again! I re-added some. they disappeared again. Definitely NOT related to users untagging themselves, as i can re-add and it happened to photos of myself. I have added a photo to the album via iphoto, and i have updated the caption via facebook.com, but i wouldnt expectthose events to DELETE the tags created within facebook...but something of the sort must be happening....
WHY is that happening and how do i make it stop? if its "as designed" functionality...why? if not, can we get a response that its being fixed? or an explanation of how to ensure this wont happen again? wary of using the export if tags wont work, which is what makes photos on FB so social and useful, as its AWFUL to keep retagging friends pics, having them appear in their feed, doing it again etc...
any comment or workaround or explanation very much appreciated.

Remember that you are not just uploading to facebook, your synchronising with it, and this means that data in one side of this equation can be replaced or removed to make both sides of the equation the same.
You understand and agree that uploading your photos to a third party service requires compliance with the terms and conditions of that service. +At the time that you upload to or download photos from any such service, the iPhoto software will also synchronize your iPhoto tag information with the photo tags that you have on that service, which may result in a loss of photo tag information in iPhoto+.
That's from the End User Licence Agreement.

  • Albums /photos "disappear" from Iphoto 08

    Hello
I used Iphoto 08 for many years.
Recently I need to send some photos taken in 2004/2005 to some friends.
Unfortunately, I notice that some albums "disappear" from Iphoto 08.
I don't think I have deleted them by accident or whatsoever .
So, what is the cause and is there any way of "recuperating" these albums ?
Many thanks for your advice, help !

    James:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. What exactly are you referring to by the "burn folder" feature on Tiger? Did you create a folder on the desktop and then move the iPhoto Library folder from the Pictures folder into the one on the desktop? If that's what you did and then deleted that folder from the desktop you have deleted all of your photos. The iPhoto Library folder that you now see in the Pictures folder was created when you launched iPhoto the next time and it will be empty.
If you haven't used you computer much since then you may be able to undelete those photos with Data Rescue or SubRoas File Salvage. Use you're computer as little as possible until you've had a chance to run one of these applications.
Hope this has been of some help. Good luck.

  • Photo album disappears from iphoto

My two most recent albums keep disappearing from iPhoto, and thus from my iPad and iPhone.  I've repaired permissions and the iPhoto database, but no joy.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Remember: we cannot see your machine. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS.  So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Basic things like :
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For instance: 'iPhoto won't export' is best explained by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • My photos have disappeared from iPhoto 11

My hard drive was replaced at the beginning of this year by apple because of the possibility of premature failure. Just before Christmas 2013, i discovered my iPhoto was blank. sometime in January, the photos all reappeared but as of yesterday, they have once again disappeared from iPhoto. The pictures are still on the harddrive as they can be seen using Finder but are no longer grouped by albums. Also, they are locked in Finder. The iMac is running OSX 10.7.5 and the iPhoto version is 9.4.3.
I would like my photos back in iPhoto and would like them to be reliably there when i go to view them. Any suggestions? Apple Support advised me they had never heard of this happening.

  • For some unknown reason, the print themes have disappeared from iphoto 11 so cannot print. How can I fix this?

I cannot undderstand why the print themes have disappeared from iphoto 11 so I can no longer print photos from my imac. Can anyone advise me please?

When the device is set to Automatic for time, it is pulling the time from the cell towers.  Contact the carrier to ensure they are not experiencing issues.
Also, check the time on your computer that the device syncs with, make sure that the time (and time zone) on the computer are accurate.

  • Can't sync "Photos from iPhoto selected albums"

I used to be able to see all my iPhoto albums through the iTunes sync to get them on my iPhone. Now I can't see them and that option seems not to be available. I'd really like to just be able to sync some albums but not all and this way I can make a nice composite album of puppy pictures to load onto my iPhone. Any suggestions. I tried rebuilding my iPhoto library but that didn't help.
    chelly

Well, i have the latest version of itunes installed and I think it's only about a week or two old so it actually has been reinstalled recently. I also just noticed that the option isn't available to sync albums to my appleTV either. This is annoying.

  • Photos disappearing from iPhotos

I recently upgraded to iOS7 on my iPhone.  I currently use iPhoto to sync various albums that I created on that program to organize my photos on my iPhone.  Problem is I recently noticed that my pictures on these albums are disappearing from both my iPhone and in the iPhoto program.  Has anyone encountered this before?  I never had this problem before until I upgraded to iOS7 and don't know if the two issues are related.

    If you used Time Machine to make the backups see this screenshot;

  • Why won't all the photos from iPhoto sync onto my iPhone 5?

I am trying to put all the photos from iPhoto on my Mac onto my iPhone 5. Through iTunes, I select sync photos with iPhoto, then sync all photos, albums, events and faces. There are 285 photos in my iPhoto library and I would like to sync them all, but after the sync when I look at the photos on my phone, only 187 synced. What am I doing wrong?

I find the easiest way to transfer photos from iphoto or your computer in general onto your iPhone is to select the ones you want and click share then either iMessage or email them to yourself, its much faster and I don't know about you but i find iTunes to be a real pain when you sync photos because it always messes up your albums on your phone!

  • Photos imported from Sony NEX-3N disappear from iPhoto

I recently imported a series of photos from several different sources (pentax camera, iPhone, USB key and a Sony NEX-3N camera) and all the photos appeared to be imported correctly. I was able to edit the photos and put them in various events in the library manager.
Now, a few hours later, all the photos from the Sony camera have disappeared from the library manager but none of the other photos. They were briefly visible in the photo stream but are disappearing in front of me! When I click on one in the photo stream, it tells me that it has already been imported. Then when I try to display it in the album, it's not there. I've tried using the research function, sorting by date and even the intelligent album function (to find all photos from the Sony NEX-3N) with no success.
When I manage to grab a sony photo from the photo stream before it disappears, and copy it into an album, the information about the source disappears and appears empty. But the photo remains (unfortunately only about 10 out of 200!!)
When I view the event in the library where they should be, the other photos seem to move around on their own, as if the sony photos are there and then disappearing but I can't actually see the missing photos. I've also tried showing hidden photos and looking in the finder library files, to no success.
    Help??

Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - from the resulting first aid window repair permissions and if necessary rebuild your database

  • Add a photo from iPhoto as album artwork...?

    Hi,
Lovely wonderful iTunes Match has scrubbed the artwork of all of my bands albums, which is nice. I have all the album artwork as jpegs in iphoto. How come I can't add a picture as artwork? All I get is the finder box come up when I click add, from inside the Get Info pane of a song... And that doesn't allow me to get IN to my library to see the pics... Am I being thick, or is this another example of "It Just DOESN'T Work"...?  It's not unreasonable to want to do this is it?
Any advices, as ever, muchly appreciated.

Drag the photo from iPhoto to the Desktop to make a copy (this won't remove it from iPhoto) then you can drag it into the 'Drag Artwork Here' section in the bottom left-hand corner of iTunes when the song is selected (if it's not showing click the arrow-in-a-box indicated by the red arrow):
or select the song and hit command-i to bring up the info panel and click the 'Artwork' tab: or if you want to add an image to an album select all the songs, hit command-i and drag it to the 'Artwork' box in the info pane.

  • Need help - creating QT movies from iPhoto slide shows

I am creating QT movies from slideshows in iPhoto. I then put the QT movies on a CD. I am having no trouble doing this, but if I give the CD to a Windows user, will she be able to view it? If not, is there any way to make it Windows compatible? Are there any other problems I should be aware of before I give these QT movies for Christmas gifts?

Any PC user that has QuickTime 5, or higher, installed will be able to view your iPhoto slide show movies on the CD.
You must use the Finder to guarantee a PC compatible CD, however.

  • Creating ZIP files of iPhoto 08 albums

Very simply, how can I create a ZIP file of an iPhoto 08 album so that the pictures can be emailed?

    Very simply,
Select the pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export them to a Folder on the desktop. Zip and email that.
