Facebook event overload in iOS 6 Calendar.

I like the idea of easily having events that I am going to synced in my Calendar, but, apparently, it adds events that you've been invited to even if you haven't decided to go.  I don't need my Calendar filled with potential events, I only want the one's I'm going to.  And, that's only part of the problem.  Many of my friends' events occur on multiple dates - shows, concerts, etc... I only need the date I'm attending to show up in the Calendar.  Can I limit my joined event to the day I'm choosing to go?  Is there a way to fix that in either facebook or iOS?  If not, it really should be addressed because, otherwise, I'm just going to turn off the sync... because it's useless at the moment.

I hate to chime in and say "me too" but this is bugging me as well - I REALLY like the idea of having events that I plan to attend added to my calendar automatically, but I just can't deal with having events I've declined showing up - for now, I'm going back to my old system which involves synchronizing facebook with google calendar and synchronizing google calendar with my phone
apple, please fix this.

  • Declined Facebook Events Showing in iOS Calendar

    Hi
Ive noticed recently that Facebook Events that Ive declined show up in the iOS Calendar on my iPhone 5. Ive went into Calendars and Show Declined Events is switched off.
The strange thing is they don't show in iCal on my iMac which is also linked to my Facebook account.
Any ideas how I can resolve this irritating issue?
    Thanks
    Baz

    I second this solution
This was a long standing problem for me (even pre-ios7 maybe), it's a shame i've never come across a method so banal like this a perfect, easy way.
Thanks a lot Timothy, now i can switch fb calendars back on.

  • Facebook events not showing up in calendar app

    Hi
I can see the events I've joined on facebook showing up on the calender app on my iphone (ios6) but can't see them on the ML (10.8.2) calendar app. my facebook account is linked with both machine. what do I miss?
    thanks in advance:)

Hello, I have had the same issue, the Facebook intergration with ioOS displays all the facebook events in the calendar - which can be a real pain if you have lots of events.
I have not found any option in iOS6 to filter by accepted events or to hide declined events. This is something Apple should really work on - sounds to me like they just bundled this into iOS6 without consideration for accepted or declined events.
So the workaround which I have found is to stop the facebook calendar in iOS6 (Settings/Facebook) and instead to subscribe to Facebook events and/or birthdays via the site straight into iCal. What is in your iCal will appear on all your devices so there you go. Make sure in FB to state that you don't want al events to be displayed. Then you'll be fine.
Use this link if you want http://www.wikihow.com/Sync-Facebook-Events-to-iCal
Make sure to go to the settings option on FB page to select which events you want displayed.
It lacks the neat little FB icon that would appear via the iOS intergration but lets hope Apple sorts this out quickly and that we'll be able to chose which events to display, accepted or rejected etc....
    Hope this helps,

  • Facebook Events Displaying Wrong Info on Calendar

My Facebook Events that i have syncd either display the correct day but the wrong time or display both the wrong day and the wrong time...ex. Party on Saturday July 25 12:00am - Sunday July 26 12:00pm showing on calendar as Saturday July 25 3:00am - Sunday July 26 3:00pm ....and my another one is a Bday Party thats on Friday July 31 10:00pm - Saturday Aug. 1 5:00am...but the Pre is showing it as Saturday Aug 1 3:00pm - Saturday Aug 1 10:00pm
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

unfortunately that really doesnt help cause apparently Facbook uses your computers timezone as the default settings, and since all the computers ive used are on the east coast, there shouldnt be any conflicts. Ive checked my googles calendar settings as well just to make sure and those are correct as well...ive since just removed my google calendar to minize troubleshooting steps..
This is my current Calendar Settings:
First Day of the Week: Sunday
Day Start and End: 12:00am to 12:00am since i couldnt select 12:00am to 11:59pm or 12:01am to 12:00am
everything else shouldnt affect viewing, but they are all left at defualt.

  • Facebook Events Calendar Sync

Calendar used to show both Facebook events marked as "Maybe" or "Going". A few days ago, it began to only show the "Going" events. Is there any way to get the "Maybe" events back? iOS 7 Calendar is still showing both "Maybe" and "Going" events which is what I would also like to see in the OS X Mavericks Calendar.

I'm seeing this changed behaviour on both Mavericks and iOS 7. In addition, events which I was invited to (but had not yet responded) used to show up with a dashed outline, like other invited events; now, they are also not visible at all, on either platform.
I've reported bugs about this to both Apple and Facebook. There's also a Facebook help community thread about the issue: https://www.facebook.com/help/community/question/?id=576428008220
Hopefully the old behaviour will be restored.

  • Why can't facebook events sync with OSX?

For my iphone 4S and new iPAD, facebook events are reflected in my calendar due to new iOS6
However, my macbook air's calendar does not have facebook events (I'm using Mountain Lion)

  • HT5500 can't see Facebook events in the Calendar

I choose the option to sync calendar with Facebook events in settings, but I still can't see them in the calendar, and even though I checked the Facebook calendar in the calendar list. what am I missing?

I'm having the same problem. A few notes in case this might jog someone into realizing what's going on.
I removed all the Facebook apps on my phone, disabled all of the facebook integration settings, rebooted it, and started from scratch ... multiple times. Even disabled the other calendar sources I have. (Google and work CalDav.) No luck.
If I go into Settings-->Facebook, turn on Contacts integration, and go back to the Calendar.app I can enable Facebook Birthdays and they come across fine. You would think that the iOS to Facebook authorization is handled in one spot but perhaps that isn't the case.
I've looked up and down the Facebook settings via the web site and the iPhone app. Nothing looks amiss. (See previous comment about authorization.)
I have, for lack of better words, messed around heavily with my iPhone Calendar and Contacts settings. I started with syncing with Google contacts and Googe Cal over the net directly, then moving to CalDAV and CardDAV, for both. At various times I messed with iCloud sync as well and adding the same Google services to my Mac laptop Calendar and Contacts app. Currently, I'm back to Google for CalDav and CardDav over the net on the iPhone and the Mac. Everything works pretty well except some Contact fields don't line up, which usually isn't a problem and, of course, Facebook events no longer show.
Why do I mention all that? Perhaps some of you have tried similar things and we've corrupted one of the internal settings files or plist and put our phones into an unrecoverable state. I can't recall when the Facebook events stopped showing after I messed with things because ...
The events stopped syncing but some of the old ones were around for a bit. They all dissapered once I started trying to fix it but it wasn't like they were all gone one day. When I noticed this problem it was because events I were adding stopped showing up but there were still a few listed. Almost as if the sync stopped kicking in but the events themselves were still cached.
Anyway ... that's probably tl;dr length but hopefully it will jog some brain cells.

  • Facebook events not showing up in my calendar

I thought facebook events were going to show up in our calendars with the new update.  Mine is not doing that. Was I wrong about that's not is there anything I can do to fix it? Thanks!

  • Can you make Facebook events appear on Mac Calendar?

The title more or less says it all. Facebook events now appear on the iOS 6 calendars, but do they also appear on Mac version? Am I missing something?

  • Facebook events. Mountain Lion vs iOS 6.

Why can't I see Facebook events in mountain lion calendar as in iOS 6 if I have my calendar in iCloud? I can see Facebook birthdays without problems.

You need third party software thats why. I think there is a app that lets you do this for $2 in the app store.

  • Facebook events do not sync to iOS 7

    Hi,
Few weeks ago my facebook events disappeared from both my iPhone and my iPad both running iOS 7. I am logged into my facebook events and I have allowed access to the calendar and the sync facebook events option is selected. I tried restarting the devices but nothing seems to help.
Has anyone experienced the same problem?
    Cheers!

    Hi Orangeagle,
How long did you wait when you saw the iTunes indicator before you started messing with your phone? The reason I ask is because if the phone was just going through the various processes it goes through to update, then you may have interferred with the update. Did you wait, say 20 minutes or so to see if the device was finished turning off and on, restarting, downloading, and installing?
I'm not trying to be snarky here. Just trying to figure out if a lot of this is not being caused by folks not letting the device go through the entire update process without interferring. I updated my phone today, and it turned off and back on at least twice, reset at least once, and then turned off at the end of the process for at least 5 mintues before my Home screen redisplayed, indicating that it was completely done. This is not abnormal. The device just needs to be left alone until it has completed the update, and I think many people are not letting that happen.
Would appreciate any info you can provide.
    Cheers,
    GB

  • Time zone compatability problem with timed event created on iOS and pushed to Windows7 Outlook calendar for sharing

Hi, I am in Jerusalem time zone. My Windows7 LAPTOP time zone is set to it (UTC+02:00 Jerusalem). My iPhone5 and iPad are both "Set Automatically" (ON)  to Jerusalem. When I create any new event in my outlook on my Laptop it's generated with the Jerusalem time zone and pushed properly via iCloud to my iPhone and iPad. However when I create a new timed event on either my iPhone or iPad. or even in iCloud calendar (in a browser) the event is pushed to outlook on my Laptop in a "Beirut" time zone. Now that both Jerusalem and Beirut are on the same time zone (UTC + 02:00) it doesn't create any problem (though I prefer to see that the pushed events are indeed in Jerusalem time zone and not Beirut...). However, at and around day time saving change days there are problems of events created on iOS devices or even in iCloud (using browser) and pushed to outlook at the wrong times (1 hour earlier or later, depends on the change direction in Jerusalem time...) with a Beirut time stamp.
How can I resolve this problem and make sure all timed events, created on iOS devices at a Jerusalem time zone, appear as such after pushed via iCloud to my windows7 Outlook calendatr?  Thanks!

I also have this issue (iPhone 5).  Outlook needs to be configured properly in that timezone option needs to be selected.  Which is challenging enough.
However the bigger issue for me is that when I open the ICN file:
    1.  I have no way to accept decline etc.
    2.  When the event is populating the calendar in the wrong time I can neither cut and paste nor select and move.  It is totally static.
So for every meeting request I have to ensure it populates the right time as per my time zone. and if it doesnt i have to manually enter a second meeting 'X' hours earlier/later depending on which time zone the meeting was generated in.
I spoke to Apple.  Their solution is make sure Outlook is properly configured.  Fine...but good luck.  I need a work around that is Apple based.  Because this *****.
They said they would send to the development team.  I am not holding my breath.
