Facebook fix for slowness on wifi for iPhone 5S

While I was on hold for Apple Care I figured out why my iPhone was slow loading new posts from Facebook over Wifi. Locate in "Setting" the Facebook App. Find the "Facebook" App and tap to get to the Facebook "Settings" menu and tab to "Location" set to "While Using the App" plays an important factor in the speed of loading content. With Location set to "Never" it takes sometimes minutes to load new posts and with it on the speed loading is as fast as loading pages over cellular (4G).

Yes the pages load fine on data. But even games I have that use internet
don't always work right. But if I turn off the wif i. it works fine. I am
beginning to wonder if I made a mistake leaving sprint.

Lumia 920 Facebook connection very slow over WiFi ...

Since the Portico update the connection to Facebook both in the People and Me hub as well as in the Facebook app is very slow over WiFi, whilst still good over 4G/LTE (with WiFi off). The connection to the Nokia account also appears to have a similar problem. All other accounts and apps have good speed over both cellular and WiFi connections.
Any ideas anybody?
PS: FYI, a bit more info about the history and context: When I noticed the problem the first time after the update, I tried to solve it by deleting and re-adding my Facebook account on the phone. Unfortunately, that made me lose my Me hub tile, so I decided to do a full reset. That again unfortunately got stuck on the togg wheels, so I restored the phone using Nokia Care Suite with the latest firmware, and restored my accounts, apps and settings from scratch. Everythings seems to work fine now, except the above mentioned Facebook and Nokia account connectivity problem.

Did you somehow solve this problem?
I have the same issue here with my Lumia 920.
However I have already found out that it only applies to my home Wifi. All other Wifi networks i was connecting to did work flawlesly.
I need to note that all other devices on my home network are using facebook without a glitch. Only Lumia has some problems with it.

How to properly timewarp 59.94 footage for slow motion effect for 29.97 output

I have footage filmed in 59.94 that I want to use for slow motion effects and output to 29.97. Using timewarp I seem to get duplicate frames at times. What would the best workflow to accomplish the cleanest result? I've tried interpreting the footage at 29.97 and keeping it at its native 59.94. At this point I feel like I'm just confusing myself further by just trying random things. Thanks!

Always interpret footage as what it really is. If it is really 59.94 progressive then that's what it should be interpreted as. It will play at the right speed in any comp of any frame rate. IOW, if the footage is 10 seconds and you put it in a 99fps comp and play it back at full frame rate the clip will still be 10 seconds long. If you put it in a comp that's 15 frames per second, the clip will still be 10 seconds long.
Make sure you understand that.
There is a chance, and a good chance, that your footage is actually full frame 59.94 fps video. That's why I suggested putting it in a comp that's also 59.94 fps and checking for duplicate frames.
There is also a chance that your footage is actually 29.97 fps interlaced. If you separate fields and look at the footage in a 59.94 fps comp you won't see any duplicate frames.
To change the speed of the clip you just need to apply Time Remapping, Time Warp, or any of the other Time Time tools in AE. It doesn't make any difference what the frame rate of the composition is, you'll be changing the length of the clip.
To keep from creating duplicate frames you either need software that interprets the new, extra frames or you need to use an exact whole number multiple of the frame rate for rendering.
Where did you get the footage? What Camera? What are you trying to do with it? What is the final destination (delivery) for your project.

AC settings for creating Adhoc wifi for few notebooks

I have to create an adhoc wifi for about 3 or more notebooks. I know it´s possible, but i don´t know how to config Access connections. I pass throw many menus, but it need to set up IP, mask, gateway, and DNS. What i have to fill into this columms?

So insecure it can be cracked in less than 5 mins so not worth having. Best if possible to get a CAT5E cable for it, they are cheap enough for any length on ebay.

Is there a fix for slow wifi speed on U310?

I bought early july a IdeaPad U310 in Texas, and then I moved to Belgium to study. The wifi speed was awefullt slow. So having read the forums, i rang the support in Belgium, and after long discussion, i sent the laptop for repair. Service was fine, but extremely slow, with no information what so ever of where the pc was, if it was received for reparation... anyway, three weeks after, so that today. i received it back and, according to the intervention report, the wireless controler was replaced. The thing is, the problem ofthe U310 is not a defectuous part, it is something more fundamental. I tested the PC in various speed test website.
I have three laptop, a Lenovo W520, a HP Mini 110, and the IdeaPad U310.
I used speedtest.net and brosdbandspeedchecker.co.uk
the result are
Lenovo W520: Download: 19.64 Mbps Upload: 1.99 Mbps
HP Mini 110: Download:15.72 Mbps Upload: 1.28 Mbps
IdeaPad U310: Download 4.75 Mbps Upload:2.1 Mbps.
Now, the speed on U310 is not that catastrophic (not like the 0.3 Mbps I was getting) but still not great and rather much slower than the two other machines, and not fast enough to watch a movie in streaming, it pauses all the time.
So what should i do? Send it again?
But is there a fix to the problem? Because keeping changing the wifi controller as they did did not fix the PC. The MEDION Repair center, which is in charge to repair Lenovo for northern europe (i guess) stated as well that the test "#winstress#" as been done. What is it? Yes the wifi works, but way too slow.

You can change the Apple ID used for purchasing on her phone by going to Settings>Store>Apple ID, tap the ID shown, sign out, sign back in using her Apple ID. However, be aware that if she has any apps on her phone purchased with your Apple ID she will still be prompted to enter the password associated with this ID for all future updates of these apps. This is because apps are permanently tied to the Apple ID used to purchase them, regardless of the ID in Settings>Store.

There are no recalls, there is no widespread issue.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
If the problem continues, take the device to Apple for evaluation and possible replacement.

IOS 8.0.2 has not fixed the slow wifi bug on iPhone 5S

I have updated my iPhone 5S to iOS 8.0.2. The slow wifi issue has not yet been fixed......Even whatsapp messages take forever to get delivered. Apple/...please fix this

Same here.. My iphone 5s wifi does not working properl. It feels like sometime connected and sometime not, i have reseted the network setting, turned location service for wifi off and on. But there's nothing changed.
Battery and everything are just fine
Hope apple fix this soon because smartphone without connection is just not smart.

Sharing ethernet from Macbook pro to wifi for my iphone.

Internet sharing has worked completely fine for me for about 3 weeks up until now. Now, when I try to connect to the network on my iPhone, it connects for about a second, then drops connection. (This connecting and disconnecting happens rapidly if I stay on the Wi-Fi choice tab on my phone.) The network shows 3 full bars for connectivity, however when I choose it and the flickering between "choose a network" and the actual network being chosen happens, the 3 bars become greyed out. It jumps from the list of network up to appearing as the chosen network about 5 times than stops (ending up back on the list to choose from). I'm not sure why this started. I tried to connect my friend's tablet to the network and the same thing happened so I know it is a problem with my computer and not my phone. I've restored and reset network settings on both my phone and macbook several times. I just installed mavericks today in hopes that it might fix something but the same problem occurs. My macbook is still able to connect to the internet just fine when sharing is turned on which leads me to believe that the ethernet cord I am using and the port on my macbook are perfectly fine. I haven't seen any problems similar to the one I am having right now so I am trying to explain it the best I can. Can anyone help me figure out what is going on and what (if anything) can be fixed? Also, for the sake of providing all helpful information, I am on a college campus in a dorm room so messing with the router or modem or anything like that is not an option. The reason I share the ethernet from my macbook to wifi for my phone is because the wifi from the college is horrible and I am forced to use up all of my data quickly while I am in my room unless I can get this sharing to start working again. If anyone has an possible solutions or theories as to what is happening please let me know! Thank you!

Fix For Slow Down Worked!

From a previous fix - this worked to eliminate what was a 5 to 10 minute startup and shut down problem for our iMAC using OS X 10.5.8. with the 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo processor - from a thread from a while back (and sorry, I am not going through all the folks that contributed, but the dogs are ready to go outside):
(full excerpt below my procedures)
Procedures -
x - first close all unnecessary applications
1 - go to applications
2 - load the Terminal App
3 - type: sudo chown root:admin /
4 - then press the return key
5 - type in your password when asked (the screen will not show that you are typing)and the press the return key
6 - type: sudo kextcache -system-prelinked-kernel
7 - then press the return key
8 - type: sudo kextcache -system-caches
9 - then press the return key
10 - close the Terminal app
I then shut down my computer, started it up, let it fully boot, shut it down a second time, then when I restarted everything was back to normal!!!

I had slowness on my 3G after upgrading to iOS 4, but I found a simple fix here:

It's basically the same steps you recommend, but then after a reboot, you can turn all of the search functions back on. I haven't had a performance problem since I did this.

FIX - slow wifi on iPhone 6 iOS 8.0.2

ive had a problem with my wifi since I bought the iphone 6. I get good speeds for a time, then it drops off and gets slow again. Tried resetting anything and everything. Then I did this: went to my browser, typed in "what's my ip", copied my ip address and pasted in my address bar. Logged into my Verizon acct. the user name should be admin and the password should be a mix of letters and numbers on your router, unless you've changed these user names and passwords. Once logged in I went to advanced wireless settings and changed my security settings from WEP to WPA2 and reset my password to a 16 digit key. Save the settings and log out. Then since I have a pc I changed the settings on my wifi to match the settings I just changed. Then I went into my iPhone's settings < general < reset < reset network settings. and that's it. Been doing speed tests and it been working fine. Hope this helps yall.

Very slow wifi on iPhone 6 on several different wifi networks, home and work and others. Cannot be a WEP-WPA2 issue, must be an iPhone6 issue. Also have experienced 6 Mbps recently and 22 Mbps last month, seems to be variable and getting worse.
PS- iPhone 5 on very same home network gave 57 Mbps when iPhone 6 gave 6 Mbps !

How do I add a new Apple ID for wife's iPhone 5s?

Presently my wife and I share an Apple ID for all of our apple products. How ever we run into the problem of her contacts and my contacts merging when we do back ups and syncing. I am afraid that if I create a new ID for my wife's iPhone I will lose all of her contacts and music. How do I do this with out losing all of her stuff. Thanks in advance for you assistance.

You can create a new Apple ID by going to Settings / iTunes & Apps and create new account. Even if she creates a new account, she can still see the content she has for music or apps downloaded on phone currently, though if updating apps, she'll need to enter in your Apple ID and password because it was bought through yours.
Though for any free apps you've downloaded, just redownload with new account you create but anything you bought, you'd have to rebuy because it wasnt through the new account.

What is best practice for installing husband/wife iPhones on one iTunes account?

Yes, you can use two individual Apple IDs for iCloud, iMessage, Facetime, etc. and use the existing iTunes account for setting up iTunes and App Stores to share app and music purchases.
