Check and see if you've got too many things running concurrently. Double-click the home key to see your list of most recent programs. Press and hold the icons in the app tray until they jiggle, and then remove the ones you don't need. Even when programs are "closed" they still leave footprints in memory so that if you were to re-access that program, it will open up faster. This should free up some memory.
If you don't have many apps installed and running, then I am not sure what would be causing your problems.

  • When "Log out after X minutes of inactivity" is on, display gets black and a weird pixelation when I move the mouse

When "Log out after X minutes of inactivity" is on, and those X minutes pass by, my MBA logs out. After that, when I want to use it again, I found that display is totally black and if I use the touchpad, then I can start seeing "what is behind" that black screen (Login Window), like you can see on the picture:
I took it to Tech Service and they didnt find out any hardware issue. Any ideas?

I recently found out that this only happens when DISPLAY is set to go to sleep minutes before the "Log out after X minutes of inactivity". I had "Display sleep" option set to 5 minutes and "Log out after 10 minutes of inactivity" and this causes the display to go to sleep first (screen goes black) and then, 5 minutes later, it logs out.
If "Display sleep" is off and "Log out after X minutes of inactivity" is on, the issue does not replicate. So Im thinking it has something to do with the screen being black at the moment it logs out. Can you try and replicate that?
I will be checking the thread you suggested and hopefully oudgrad1764 can find a solution. Thanks a lot.

  • I'm getting a bell sound every minute, and don't know how to turn it off.

I'm getting a bell sound every minute, and don't know how to turn it off.

I just fixed it!  I believe it was my Time Machine Connection.  I have a wireless connection to a NAS storage device (MyBookLive), which was not working properly.  I fixed it yesterday, and after time machine was downloaded, the bell went away.  I think Time Machine was trying to work every minute, and gave an alert when it couldn't.   Does this sound plausible?

  • AP1141N logs me out after 10 minutes and can't sign back on

I just purchased the AP1141N and I have created a logon account to access the device via URL which works fine but after 10 minutes it logs me out and requires that I log back on.  Unfortunately it won't allow me to log back on unless I reset the device then I have another 10 minutes before it asks me to login again but then it won't accept my logon again without a reset.  Very annoying.
I can logon with my account via the console logon but I don't know how to configure the access point via command line so I use the web interface.  I have disabled the timing for security but didn't help.  Any support on this or should I just send it back and get a better product?  ;-)

No reposting is necessary, I have moved your post into the correct area.

  • Why do some users get logged off after 5 minutes?

I havde a few users on one machine and they get logged off every 5 minutes. Is this a licensing thing?

Check System Preferences/Security & Privacy/General/Advanced to make sure a log out time hasn't been set up.

  • Automatic log-out after 20 minutes working in a layout

    Hello
We have an automatic log-out of the layout after 20 minutes of work. The time out is set up at 58 minutes. Does anyone know of a paramater in a 3.0B that would trigger this log-out ? Something separate from the main time-out ?
    Regards
    Fabrice

It is not different from main time-out as per my understanding.
As step 1, pls check your patch level to SEM. The current patch level is 12.
Step 2: The time-out/idle time parameters are set by the Basis consultant. Please explain to your Basis person and he/she will help you out.
Step 3: Have you checked that whether you are locked? whether your transactions take longer or longest time to excute? or hangs over? Then it may be a software bug. Please take-up with SAP OSS support.
PS: Please award suitable points if the answers provide direction and clue.

  • Log out after N minutes of inactivity: or not

Maybe I am nit-picky, however ... If I select to log me out of the system, making it harder for someone who might steal my MacBook to harvest data from it, as long as I leave the screen in the upright position, I will be back at the login prompt in "N" minutes.
If however I close the screen, and I believe this puts the MacBook into some sort of sleep staate, then after "N" minutes plus, when I lift the screen, the MacBook zooms back to life in the previous state and obviuously still logged in.
What did I miss to be able to cause mcBook to log-off, no matter what, after ten minutes of inactivity?

When you close the screen, the computer/hard drive does go to sleep. This is protection for your hard drive since the computer is usually going to be moved or is moved with the screen closed while the computer is on - or it should only be moved this way.
You can require your login password to wake the computer from sleep or screen saver.

  • Itunes music library player logs out after 5 minutes

    Running iTunes 11.1.1
When playing music from my music library, the application closes after 5 minutes if the computer is not touched, i.e. volume changed, tune skipped, etc. It's like it "logs off".  I don't have any sleep settings turned on.  This happens with battery or with power plugged in. Any suggestions as to what might be causing?

I've had the same issue since upgrading to latest iOS 5.1 on appletv and latest patches on mountain lion mine usually drops out after a minute

  • My pages in Firefox are timing out after 10 minutes, and a grey overlay appears on the entire page. Why is this happening and how I can I stop this?

Ever since upgrading to Firefox 25.0.1 yesterday, my open pages are timing out after exactly 10 minutes and being covered by a grey overlay. I cannot use the page until I refresh it. This is extremely annoying and doesn't seem to be caused by an extension or add-on. Please tell me how to stop this inconvenient and obnoxious problem!

After trial and error - the culprit turned out to be the Firefox Ginger (spell check and grammar checker) add-on. Disabling that stopped the problem. Thanks for your help! :)

  • Keep getting signed out after 1 minute (error 26)

Hey guys, everytime i try to sign in on skype on my phone it logs me in for about 1 minute then signs me out strtaight away saying "You have been signed out. Please try again. (26)" I have the latest version of skype on my iphone, so im not sure whats wrong.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Yes, there is a Skype support team.  I had the same problem on my laptop and iphone 4S.  I contacted Skype support on line chat team and they walked me through the process of renaming the skype file on my hard drive.  Then they disconnected  Microsoft from Skype ( or something of that nature) at their end.  My Skype is working again on my iphone 4S and laptop.  No longer have that problem.
The steps  for disconnecting from Windows is also written in this Community site.
One step I remember from the online chat  is to rename the skype file on your hard drive you should press the windows icon on your keyboard and  the letter R at the same time.  A window will pop up then you type %appdata%.  This will allow access to skype file for you to rename it.  Then you unlink by following the steps on the community site .  The best is to do the live chat and let support unlink you from Microsoft if you are not technically savvy.

  • Everytime I log in, I get logged out after a few s...

Everytime I log into my skype, it keeps logging me out. I tried uninstalling it, re-installing it, restarting my computer, everything.... I still can't stay logged into my skype. I know the password is correct, because it will log me in all the way, but then after a couple of seconds, it will just knock me off and log me out. I've never had a problem like this before, and I don't know why. Can someone help me fix it?

What exacty is the version of Skype installed on your computer? In Skype go to Help -> About Skype.

  • After latest update, I keep getting logged out of my email, even in the middle of reading emails!

Approximately two weeks ago, I installed an update to Firefox. Immediately after that, I keep getting signed out of my email, even while I'm in the middle of reading it or composing an email! It's very frustrating!

Check the Security panel of System Preferences and see if there's a select under the "General" tab of "Log out after xx minutes of inactivity".  If that's not the case, launch the Console utility and see if there are any messages that might explain the log out.

  • Windows 8.1 automatically logs me out after one minute

I downloaded and installed Windows 8.1 Pro a few days ago from TechNet. I'm logged in only with my Microsoft account (not a Domain account).
For some reason, it logs me out automatically after one minute and takes me back to the login screen where I have to click and enter my password in. I checked all of the Power settings and the Screen Saver is off.
Also, I've wanted to disable the login screen entirely since I live alone.  I've seen many articles about being able to disable it by unchecking the box in the netplwiz app, but the option doesn't even exist.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
May be you can try to boot into safe mode for test, or create a new account.
In addition, netplwiz is a command to open Manage User Accounts. I doubt whether you had use it correctly.
Press WIN+R, then type netplwiz , press
    Enter.

I booted into Safe Mode (after figuring out the new method) and it logged me out after one minute.  I logged back in, created a new user, rebooted in normal mode, logged in as new user, was logged out after one minute.  Double-checked Advanced
Power settings again -- nothing indicating this should be happening.

  • I keep getting logged out safari iphone

I keep getting logged out of websites on iphone when using safari. ios8.1.2
I have an iPhone 6+ and I find this happens when using the tabs of safari. Each time I swich tabs I get logged out of whatever site/forum i was on.
These are sites I log into and tick the remember box so should stay logged.
I also have an iPad and I don't get this problem on the iPad - the sites keep me logged in as expected.
    Can anyone help please?

I had the same problem, and have now solved it.
Go to System Preferences, then Security, and untick "Log out after 10 minutes of inactivity".

  • User gets logged out by itself

If I leave my computer on for a while it logs my user out, or tries to.
Often I come back and several apps have been quit out of and there is a message telling me that one of my apps stopped my user from being logged out.
Other times it is logged out and I have to log back in and start from scratch.
Seems similar to https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4135972?start=0&tstart=0 but I am not running multiple graphics cards and as long as I am working on the computer it has never happend. It only happens if I leave it running for a while not uning it.

    Thanks,
I found "Log out after [60] minutes of incativity: checked under System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Advanced. I don't remember checking that but I assume that will fix my problem.
