Facebook iframe error in Firefox and SeaMonkey

On http://www.facebook.com/upbra there is supposed to be a form to fill out in the middle of the page. When I go to this page in Firefox or SeaMonkey, the form page flashes briefly and then disappears. It is there in IE8, Chrome, Safari, Opera, and Firefox 3.6 but not in Firefox 10 or SeaMonkey 2.7. And I have checked in 7 different computers running these browsers. I have sent a message to Facebook already about this. I have tried with and without addons, both HTTP and HTTPS, and with several versions of the code for the page in the frame.

Works for me in Firefox 10.0.2 on Linux, although it takes time for the content to appear on a reload.<br />
On SeaMonkey 2.7.2 it only works the first time and reloading the page show a blank iframe.<br />
The iframe seems to be loaded as there is a frame source, so it looks that something is overlaying it, but the DOM Inspector doesn't identify anything on that spot.
I can only make that frame reappear by deleting the cache folder in the SeaMonkey profile.<br />
Clearing the cache in SeaMonkey doesn't work.<br />
Seems to be working OK in the current SeaMonkey Nightly build (2.10a1).

  • Type Error: Yahoo.widget.overlay is not a constructor. Only get error in Firefox, and started this morning.

There was an automatic Windows update this morning. Since then, I get the error message "TypeError: Yahoo.widget.overlay is not a constructor" when I open up certain websites, such as ancestry.com. Other sites, such as Facebook, don't work at all. Everything appears scrambled when I open the website. Other sites appear to not be affected, although I haven't done more than open them up. These errors are only occurring with Firefox, and not with IE. IE still works just fine.

Sounds like a problem with an Yahoo extension (toolbar)
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Twitter Profile Photo header bar is #F1F1F1 instead of dark gray in Firefox and Seamonkey on Win764

Twitter Profile Photo header bar is #F1F1F1 instead of dark gray in Firefox 26 and Seamonkey 2.22 on Win764bit.
    Here's a picture. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BeNSUt5CIAAZihR.png
It displays correctly in Chrome and Internet Explorer.
It's like this on freshly created default profile, or in safe mode.
It's the same using Windows Aero Theme, Window Basic theme, and Windows Classic theme.
I have tried to use Firefox's Tools/Web Developer/Style Editor and right-click Inspect Element to figure out where the color for this thing is and change it but haven't succeeded.
It seems like it might be a problem with transparency rather than color, but that's just a guess.
I know of one possibly similar problem with colors on Twitter.com in Firefox using Windows Classic theme regarding the background color of selected text in the Twitter search box. However that might only be similar in that it's a color problem in the same environment and not be relevant to what I'm asking about.

    Hello,
Firefox on Windows is now following display scaling options which may render text larger on high resolution displays. There's more than one way to resolve this problem. See the [[Webpages are large and blurry after updating Firefox - how to fix ]] article for one suggestion. Here's another possible solution:
    * Type '''about:config''' into the Firefox address bar and tap on the Enter key.
    * If the warning '''This might void your warranty''' appears, click '''I'll be careful, I promise'''.
    * Search for '''layout.css.devPixelsPerPx'''
    * Double-click on layout.css.devPixelsPerPx to modify its value. The default is -1.0 in Firefox 22 and above. Change it to '''1.0''' to make it work like in previous Firefox versions.
If necessary, further adjust the value in 0.1 or 0.05 steps. Use values between 1.0 and about 0.5 to reduce elements in size. Use values greater than 1.0 to increase size. For example, a value of 1.25 will increase font size to 125% to accommodate the default DPI setting in Windows 8. '''Double check the value that you enter.''' Setting a too small value will make everything disappear and a too large value will blow things up.
If web pages still need to be adjusted then you can look at the [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/default-fullzoom-level/ Default FullZoom Level] or [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/nosquint/ NoSquint] extension.
To adjust the font size for the user interface, you can use the [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/theme-font-size-changer/ Theme Font & Size Changer] extension.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

  • Rendering errors with firefox and chromium SPECIFIC to Arch LInux

Guys - can someone please browse to https://www.americanexpress.com and click on "User ID" using whatever browser?  For me under both Firefox and Chromium, there is some sort of rendering error that prevents me from doing so.  In the screenshot you can see how there is a "phantom menu" that appears above the login dialog:
I booted into a live ubuntu 11.10 CD and tried from there using firefox - no such error.  Now I'm asking myself if this is somehow related to Arch and if so which package should I use in a bug report... thanks for the interest.
    EDIT: x86_64 and nvidia drivers.
EDIT2: x86_64 and nouveau have the same result.

  • Adobe PDF Plugin not working FireFox and SeaMonkey

Just updated to Acrobat XI. I find that the plugin to view PDF's doesn't work. just receive a Blank Screen when I try to view a Plugin.
I also notice in addons  when you go to plugins it shows two acrobat Pdf Plugins:
    Adobe Acrobat NPAI Plugin
    Adobe AAMDetect Adobe AAMDetect 1.0.0.0
and the one called 1.0  I have no idea what that is.
I see no sign of the Adobe PDF Plugin (which is in the Internet Plugins Folder)
I can use a Plugin from Schubert from Germany but it doesn't work with buttons to swich to a web page.
I can use Acrobat Reader. However in order to work it has to download the page from a website first. Who wants to do that.
    Can't you get this fixed???

Adobe Acrobat NPAPI Plugin is not supported in Firefox or SeaMonkey. Try disabling this plug-in from Firefox/SeaMonkey > Tools > Add-ons, then quit and restart your brwosers.
This should let you save/downlaod the PDFs locally.

  • Firefox and SeaMonkey do not show any webpage backgrounds and hot buttons don't have borders and entry windows like the one I'm typing in don't have borders. The only reason I can type here is I saw a cursor in this big blank area.

Firefox 3.6.16 and SeaMonkey 2.0.13 yesterday stopped displaying webpage background color. Everything is white. This text box has such a faint grey line around it that I didn't know it was there.
Every webpage I look at has the same issue.
    Bing works correctly.
IE got corrupted a month ago and I've stopped using it.
My Windows 7 programs, Outlook, Word, Excel changed their color settings and some icons, Print & Paste, on the toolbars are larger like 1995 quality.

update your ie flash player and it will probably fail, too.
you have a security sandbox error because those look like different domains to flash.  one remedy would be to use a cross-domain permissions file.   another would be to use a local (to your swf) php file to send and load the cross-domain data and then send that to your swf.

  • [SOLVED] XPCOMGlueLoad Error with Firefox and Thunderbird

When I update xcb-util from 0.3.6-2 to 0.3.8-1 I get the following error when starting firefox or (in this case) thunderbird:
    XPCOMGlueLoad error for file /usr/lib/thunderbird/libxpcom.so:
libxcb-aux.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
    Couldn't load XPCOM.
There is no libxcb-aux-so.0 in my system but if I downgrade back to 0.3.6-2 then it installs in /usr/lib/libxcb-aux.so.0. If I copy this file and then update and paste it back in then thunderbird and firefox start fine with no errors but that doesn't feel like the proper way of doing things and it might lead to conflicts.
I wouldn't mind that much but I can't upgrade things like xf86-video-intel without the newer version of xcb-util.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Last edited by JJ.Eastwood (2012-01-02 18:05:08)

do not skip xcb-util or any other package. just fully update everything and no, is not about libxcb is all about xcb-util
thunderbird links to startup-notification, which links to new xcb-util.
if you use a xf86-video-intel from aur, you must recompile after fully updating your system

  • Both firefox and seamonkey download at 1/10 internet connection speed on Vista 64 bit

Both Seamonkey and Firefox connect at 1/10 the available download speed on 64 bit Vista. Scanned computer for malware. Reset firefox. Both internet explorer and chrome show 32 Mbps on speedtest.net. Dowload speed only 3 Mbps on seamonkey and firefox, so configuration or code problem

That is an excellent suggestion. I will try it out when I can get access to the computer again. It would show whether it is a computer problem or a Firefox problem. One thing I have noticed between the XP computer and the Vista computer is that the Vista computer jumps way high in throughput to 100 Mbps then drops way low then way up again. The average is 35 Mpps when using Chrome or Internet Explorer, but it is very uneven. The XP computer goes up to 48 Mbps and stays steady. It seems like there is something in Firefox where it can't keep up so it drops way off. The Vista computer is a 6 gig RAM quad core, so you would think it would always be faster.

  • How do I set the timezone in an Ubuntu Linux system running both Firefox and SeaMonkey

I can set the time in google mail but all the incoming mails are showing a huge discrepancy.... I think the main system is the to GMT time and even if I go to the Edit tab and check preferences it will not change the timezone permanently.
There must be a foolproof way of getting this coordinated properly. But, it is beyond me so far...
    Please Help.
    Thanks, Jonny

From command line according to [http://codeghar.wordpress.com/2007/12/06/manage-time-in-ubuntu-through-command-line/]
    dpkg-reconfigure tzdata
But it may be best to ask this in the ubutuntu forums as well if this does not change the system timezone.

  • I need to sync bookmarks between Firefox Sync and Seamonkey. Is this possible and if so how to do it??

I use Firefox and Seamonkey, both on the same computer and also on other computers. I would like to use Firefox Sync to sync bookmarks between Firefox and Seamonkey on all my computers, but I don't understand how to do this, since the browsers seem to use their own separate servers.
Is this possible and if so can you tell me how to set it up.
    Thanks.

    I understand the confusion!
I am not a Mozilla support person, but from my experience, Sync should be called Mozilla Sync, not Firefox or Seamonkey Sync.....
If you create an account in Firefox, that account is accessible to Seamonkey.
As per the Mozilla instructions, in Firefox you open "Options, sync, add device" and in Seamonkey "setup sync, I already have an account". The text here is a bit confusing because it should read "I already have a Mozilla Sync Account", otherwise you tend to think it implies a Seamonkey Sync account...
Then click "connect" and Seamonkey then supplies three fields of characters which you enter in the appropriate fields in the Firefox "add device" dialog.
I think it is confusing that in Firefox the server is called "Firefox Sync Server" and likewise Seamonkey offers a "Seamonkey Sync Server" suggesting they are two completely separate, non-connected entities.
    Hope this helps!

  • I just downloaded the new version of Firefox and now every site I used to use such as Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube show "This Connection Is Untrusted"

I just downloaded the new version of Firefox and now every site I used to use such as Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube show "This Connection Is Untrusted". Even when I do accept the risks the site no longer looks the way it's looked for years. Twitter doesn't even give me the option to accept the risks at all and shows this error (Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer). I've tried resetting Firefox, I've checked the time and date, and I've removed and added Firefox to see if that would work. Nothing seems to be working so I can see the sites the way they normally would be instead of "coded". Can anybody help me please?!!! Thanks

ok, unfortunately the fiddler2.com issuer in certificates might be a sign of unwanted software present on your pc that is intercepting secure network traffic. please go into the system control panel and uninstall programs like BrowserSafeguard, BrowserSafe, SafeGuard or other software that sounds suspicious and didn't get installed by you intentionally.

    Hi,
You can try updating Java to the latest (7u9) and restart Firefox: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre7u9-downloads-1859586.html
Please make sure to choose either '''Windows x86 Offline''' or '''Windows x86 Online'''.
If problems persist you can then reset Firefox and start afresh.
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]] article.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
If you would like to take a listing of the add-ons, important preferences/settings etc. to quickly replicate the previous profile, please open '''Troubleshooting Information''' via '''Help''' ('''Alt''' + '''H'''), '''Copy all to clipboard''' and paste it into MS Office Excel, or OpenOffice/LibreOffice Calc, or notepad.
