Facebook images on mac

Just doing edits from a session for the first time on my new rmbp and I am new to mac as well.  On my old clunker pc laptop I would run an action that resized and sharpened for facebook.  Then I would save for web.  I did this on my first picture to test it out of facebook.  Looks sharp and and great on my old laptop and now on my brand new rmbp it is blurry once uploaded this way?  It looks sharp in photoshop and now it uploads blurry only to mac users?  I am confused.  I need my images to look great to both pc and mac users.  Am I doing something wrong?

Those who can help you are going to need a lot more info than what you give.
What exact version of the OS?  Version of Photoshop?  Where do your original files come from?  How are you saving and in what format? What exact image dimensions (so many pixels wide by how many pixels high?  What color space?
How are you sharpening, and at what stage?  Did you recreate the Windows action from scratch on your Mac?
If the same image looks different on your Windows laptop than on your Mac laptop, what browser(s) are you using to view them in each platform?
etc.…
Sample files (or links to them?)
Sorry, my mind reading and clairvoyant hats are still at the cleaners.

    Hi Nobimon,
Thanks for that I had missed that.
FaceTime is an iOS video app for 1-1 contact that has been "transferred" to the Mac OS.
A Beta version was available for Snow Leopard  and it then came in Lion and is present in Mountain Lion.
Facebook run a  Jabber server for their "chat" option.
There is a setting, apparently, on people's Facebook Settings to Enable it.
The ID can then be used in iChat or Messages.
Most of what I had read on this suggested it was Text only.
It is possible that in a web Browser they may use Flash to do Video Chats
Google Used to then created their Own Video Plug-in that strangely causes issues with a Flash Plug-in being used at the same time.
Google's plug-in uses the Jingle protocol to connect Video chats.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this test is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The "Guest User" login created by "Find My Mac" is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.

  • I accidentally made my hard drive an image of Mac OS X 10.6.3

I accidentally made my hard drive an image of Mac OS X 10.6.3, and I cant erase the hard drive anymore. Please tell me there is a way to be able to erase the image on the hard drive and put it back to the original settings?

    Do the following:
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
You will have to restore your deleted files from a backup. If you don't have a backup, then they are lost.

  • Facebook images do not load after upgrading to 6.0. What to do?

After upgrading to Firefox 6.0 my Facebook images will not open. I see a white box with a frame but after clicking on it a totally black square opens up instead a photo. All is OK when using IE9. (Also, the same with Twitpics on Twitter.)

If images are missing then check that you aren't blocking images from some domains.
    See:
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Images_or_animations_do_not_load
    * Check the permissions for the domain in the current tab in Tools > Page Info > Permissions
    * Check that images are enabled: Tools > Options > Content: [X] Load images automatically
    * Check the exceptions in Tools > Options > Content: Load Images > Exceptions
You can use these steps to check if images are blocked:
    * Open the web page that has the images missing in a browser tab.
    * Click the website favicon ([[Site Identity Button]]) on the left end of the location bar.
    * Click the "More Information" button to open the "Page Info" window with the Security tab selected (also accessible via "Tools > Page Info").
    * Go to the <i>Media</i> tab of the "Tools > Page Info" window.
    * Select the first image link and scroll down through the list with the Down arrow key.
    * If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.

  • Facebook images, profile photos, cover photos are not loading. Only small blue square with question mark. Same thing in Safari, FireFox, Chrome.

Since July on MacBook Pro facebook images, profile photos, cover photos are not loading. Only small blue square with question mark. Same thing in Safari, FireFox, Chrome. Everything is up to date including last version of Adobe Flash. And watching YouTube also a problem. Video is skipping, freezing for few seconds and jumps forward. At the same time on Toshiba with Windows Vista under the same account, same wi-fi connection everything works fine.
Please help with sugesstions to fix the issue.

Seems like problem is solved but it might be temporarily. Anyway. Click on the image, it will open facebook photo browser. Image is not loading so right click on the blue box with question mark, save image as. It will start downloading but without any success since browser do not see the image. After this attempt refresh the page and close all tabs with facebook. Try to open facebook once again. For some reason after this weird actions all images displayed properly. Do not know for how long but now it works.

  • No images in Mac Mail

I used to be able to see images in Mac Mail. I think it stopped after upgrading to Lion. Now the e-mail looks like this:
    Instead of this:
And yes, I have checked the "display images in remote HTML:
Any advice? This has been going on for months! Thanks!

If you view the full headers of the message, what is its "Content-Type"? If it's text/plain, that would be the problem: HTML email should be text/html. If it's multipart/alternative, make sure you're viewing the HTML alternative.
Under View in the Menu bar, select Message > All Headers to get Content-Type.
Is it all emails or emails from specific senders?
    Are the emails forwarded?
Log into yur account using webmail. Does it show correctly?

  • Cannot re image my mac install errors

Everytime I run the Apple Cd to re image my Mac an error message appears saying the files cannot be installed. How can I scrap my Mac back to factory settings?
    Thanks
    John

    Erasing disks securely
Start up from your install disc, go to Disk Utility and select the disk and click erase - to securely erase data click Security Options and Erase Free Space which will entirely wipe your disk, overwriting it with zeros so that no data is recoverable.

  • Broken Facebook images in single album

Using Aperture 3.5.1, images and albums shared with Facebook is in the Facebook shared section in the Library tap.
Selecting this shows the albums shared with the Facebook connected (I only got one Facebook connection).
I previously shared images in an Aperture project to Facebook. All Facebook albums appear in Aperture Facebook share as they should, showing the images shared with Facebook, but each image in a single album is broken. When Alternate clicking the album in question and selecting Visit album gets me to the Facebook album on the web where all the photos are in fact present and appear as they should in the Facebook album.
Selecting "Syncronise album" on the particular album in Aperture's Facebook share seems to do nothing.
Alternate click in the Facebook album i Aperture Facebook share and selecting "Settings" on the album and then Change settings shows an error message "The album XXXX cannot be syncronised because some versions are offline". To me every image are showing as offline even though all if the images is actually in the Faceook album in question.
Why don't aperture just get the present Facebook images. What can I do to get the photos in the Aperture project and the Facebook album reconnected. Aperture -> File -> Locate Referenced Files are grayed out having selected every broken image in Aperture's Facebook share

    HI Rick,
That is an odd one if you have the issue but other people viewing your podcast don't.
If the issue only starts happening when you add new images to the published album I would consider a couple steps:
    1. Reset Safari - you may have a cached file floating about
    2. Remove ~/library/caches
    3. Remove ~/pictures/iphotolibrary/albumdata.xml
    4. Remove ~/library/preferences/com.apple.iphoto.plist
    5. Publish again
-- if all of the above resolves the issue then great, if not create a new iphoto library by holding down the option key while opening iphoto and see if the new library has the same issue...if it does then create a new user account on your comptuer and test it there.
If it does not happen in the new library then follow kbase 107947 to rebuild your library.
    Hope that helps.
    Cheers!

  • Cannot load the Scrabble app for Facebook on my Mac laptop; was always glitchy, but now cannot load at all. Works fine on my PC, however - any suggestions?

Cannot load the Scrabble app for Facebook on my Mac; it starts, then I get this error message:
"FACEBOOK IS NOT RESPONDING. Facebook is taking longer than usual to respond. If this problem persists, refresh your browser or try again later."
I used this app for a few weeks on this machine, but now no amount of time and no number of refreshes will get the page to load. My ancient PC with Windows XP loads the app just fine, however - any ideas?
    Thanks!!

    Any error messages ?

  • Facebook pictures and mac pro

    Hello,
I am new to the mac book pro, can someone please tell me , (in simple language) if I can download my pictures from Facebook to my mac book pro photo album and how to do that--thanks in advance for your assistance

    Hello!
The easiest way will be to download your photos from facebook. using the "Download your information" feature.
First, head over to facebook and then click "Accounts" in the top right, and then "Account Settings" in the menu.
Toward the bottom of Account Settings you will see "Download your information." To the right of that, click "learn more"
It takes Facebooks servers awhile (3 hours or so) to compile all your info. Click download, and it will give you a message saying you will receive an email when your download is ready.
Once you get the e-mail from facbeook saying your download is ready, click the link they give you and then a Web page will open asking you to enter your password. To make sure you are really you, facebook is going to take you through a security check where you have to correctly identify tagged photos of your friends (kind of hilarious).
Once you are done with the security check, you will finally get a link that says "download now." Click that.
A file named similar to "facebook-12345678.zip" should show up in your downloads folder, which is usually in your dock to the left of the trash bin.
Inside of the zip will be a folder called "Photos". Now, open iPhoto 11 and drag that photos folder over the iPhoto window and then let go. It will then import all your facebook photos and you will be good to go!
    Hope this helps!

  • Convert EPS images from Mac to PC

I wonder if anyone have any experience of converting large
quantities of images from Mac to PC? I have several thousands of
freehand eps-images saved for Mac that I need to convert to a
PC-eps. Anyone know any application that can accomplish
    this?

Do the EPS files contain live text? Fonts could be an issue
    unless you are
doing the conversion on a PC and replacing fonts as you go.
    The only other
difference between Mac and PC EPS files is the preview. If
    you don't need
the PC preview, you may not need to do the conversion at all.
FH cannot open (as editable) many flavors of EPS file, but
    can import an EPS
and export it as QuarkXPress EPS which contains both Mac and
    PC previews. I
don't know about the quality of the PC preview in this case,
    as it would be
based on the Mac preview, not the original Postscript data.
    If you're on a
Mac, you could possibly use an Applescript to open and export
    the EPS files.
The task would be simpler and more reliable using
    Illustrator, which has a
    Postscript interpreter and is scriptable.
