Facebook inbox notifications are no longer showing with new OS 4.5

Hi all:
I have a Curve 8310 with ATT. Just downloaded the new os 4.5 and got the facebook reinstalled so that I can see the icon. However, now when I get messages through my facebook inbox, notifications no longer appear on the home screen. On fact, the new emails are not showing up at all. Any thoughts?

Hello and Welcme to the Frums!
Go to your facebook on your pc and check your notifications. When I downloaded the 4.5 I had to reset all my notifications. Somehow it reset them! Let us know if that is it!

I too am having the same problem, and use the *228 then killing all my open apps solution to bring my numbers back to the correct format. However, as just a one time fix, I keep on getting the same problem again after a few weeks, and last week, after a few days of doing the *228 fix. Does anyone know what is causing this problem on Verizon iPhones? My folders are no longer showing up in Mail

Since early this morning, I have had issues with my iCloud mail account. As of now I am able to send and receive mail fine, but the folders I used to organize messages are no longer showing up on Mail and my iPhone. Has anyone else been having issues similar to this?

I have a macbook pro 10.6.8, that cannot upgrade to Lion. My folders are gone, and now I cannot send or receive email I've tried doing what this page recommended to no avail. So far, mail is working on my iphone and my ipad, and imac, just not my old macbook pro. I keep getting a prompt to log into my mail. When I put in the password it says it doesn't recognize the password even though I'm putting in the correct password. Somebody help.

I have iphoto 6 and my pictures are no longer showing. I have tried importing them but it just give me an error msg. (file format not recognized) I have tried rebuilding the iphoto library but that doesn't work either. Any suggestions?

How did you rebuild?
Try these in order - from best option on down...
1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
2. Download <a href="http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/"><b><u>iPhoto Library Manager</b></u></a> and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 6* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Roll Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

Standard troubleshooting...
1. Try a Restart by pressing the sleep/lock button until you see the slider. Slide to power off. Restart by pressing the sleep/lock button until you see the Apple logo.
2. Try a Reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
3. Remove apps from Recently Used (multi-tasking) list...
- From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
- Swipe up on the app preview card to remove it from the list
- Press the home button when done.
4. If still a problem restore with your backup.
5. If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
6. If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue.

How can I delete topic index keywords that are no longer associated with a topic?

I am trying to clean up the index of an older Robohelp project before it becomes part of a merged webhelp project. I do not want to include any of its index keywords or topic keywords. I've managed to remove most of them, but I have a group of troublesome entries that refuse to go away. In fact, they cause RH8 to crash. I am running Windows XP.
Looking at the code in Visual Studio, it appears that an instruction is pointing to field which contains "zero". (see image below)
I have tried creating a new index and deleting the old index, but RH just keeps adding these topic keywords (in bold typeface) to the new index. If the keywords are no longer associated with a topic, where is RH storing these disassociated keywords? If I open the .hhk, it is empty.

Not sure why RH crashed when deleting a portion of the topic keywords manuall

You would also know if the computer had stopped for an Update.
On the Mac in the Contacts App in the Contacts Menu > Accounts is it shown to be using iCloud to Sync the info between all devices ?

You can no longer sync via iTunes. That method of sync was removed (and the 1000+ post thread is arguments over things tangientally related to that).
You need to sync via other means than iTunes, then.
One option is to use iCloud. If you sign into iCloud on all your devices, and then make sure your calendars are in the "iCloud" section on your devices, they should sync.
If you don't want to use iCloud, you could use Google calendars, they operate much the same way (but may be less reliable).
Or if you use Exchange for work, you could sync that way.
Or if none of those are acceptable, you could install OS X Server and set up the calendar server on your local network and use it to sync. This is fairly straightforward "for setting up a UNIX calendar server" but it's not trivial and beyond the scope of a forum post to explain it all

status update -- I tried a lot of other things but finally solved the problem after I removed all the groups from mac address book. (thank-you to my son Ben)
FYI -- along the way I tried doing the reset sync history, which deleted all contacts from the iphone. I initially thought that was a good thing, until I discovered that nothing I tried after that would put the contacts back on the iphone. Next I restored factory settings on the iphone and set up as a new user, but that didn't work either. Or maybe it did; maybe deleting the groups wouldn't have solved the problem if I hadn't deleted all contacts and reset the iphone first.

How can I exchange all the images in a slide show with new ones

I have 18 slide shows each is a different competition for our camera club. How can I exchange all the images from each slide show with new images as our club competitions commence? I am reluctant to just delete the slide show because I will have set it all back up. I want to leave the size shape and format of the show as is, but just exchange all of the current images with new ones. I am hoping there is a quick way to delete and replace all images for each show? Each slide show has around 40 images and I have 18 shows

1. Activate "thumbnails" in the configuration panel
2. Select one Thumbnail.
3. Rightclick and choose "Select same"
4. Press "backspace"
5. Open the configuration panel and load the new images.

Some of my facebook and instagram notifications are no longer audible

Basically, I am only being audibly notified on facebook when someone sends me a message. In other cases, I only get a badge icon and a banner, but no sound.
With regards to instagram, no sound whatsoever.
I checked my notification settings. Both facebook and instagram are in notification center, and sounds are enabled.
Anyone knows a fix?

Ok so apparently they FIXED it!!
-Go to the facebook app on phone
-Go to Account Settings
-Go to Notifications
-Go to Mobile Push
-Look at the top of the screen and it said "Sound for push notifications"
-Edit it to ON for all notifications
They fixed it I now receive sounds for notifications!!!!!

Is your airplay device connected to the same WIFI network as your ipad? I would restart the ipad and the device if they are. And, are you sure your accessing the icon by double tapping the home button and swiping to the right in the multi task bar?

Spry Tabs are no longer showing after upload

I was just recently finished working on my website and had created a spry tab to use for 4 different forms. Now when I view the page, the tabs are not showing but the four forms are all on one page.
I remember seeing in split view </div> out to the side of my layout in layout view and I thought it was an extra div and deleted it. My guess is that's why my form is no longer showing the tabs.
Any help on where I need to add the </div> back in would be MUCH appreciated.

I removed all the content from each Tab and created a new page and inserted a new Spry Tab to compare the code but I'm still not seeing what is different. It appears that all my divs are correct. Am I missing the obvious?

My tpl file are no longer opening with TextEdit but with Stickies...Why?

The strangest thing just happened and it must be a coincidence or some sort of glitch. I recently tried an LCD monitor on my Mac (which incidentally I just found out first hand why NOT to buy inexpensive LCD monitors). I disconnected it, hooked up my Sony CRT again and restarted. Everything seemed fine but when I tried to open some files with the .tpl extension they opened Stickies but did not even display any text.
A while ago I had gone to the Get Info of a tpl file and set all files with this extension to open using TextEdit. Until now that has always worked fine. When I try to do the same thing again it keeps reverting back to Stickies as the default. I am able to change an individual tpl file but can not make the global change. I dumped my finder preferences but that did not help.
Does anyone know how to set this or how to correct the glitch that is not allowing me to make this change?

Here is an interesting twist. Before I do as you suggest let me throw this out to you.
The tpl files are part of a php forum package. I have a clean copy of the forum so I can reference it and I work off a copy. I decided to take a look at the tpl files in the original folder. Not only are they all showing TextEdit as the app to open with but they are showing TextEdit in the list with (default) next to it.
When I look in the folder that contains the copy, which I am working with and editing, those files show Stickies (default) and do not show TextEdit in the list. I took a look around my drive for other rograms that also use tpl files and they were all fine. So for some reason it would seem that the problem is just inside the one templates folder and nowhere else. I was able to select all the tpl files, then control click and select Open With..., selected TextEdit, closed the Get Info window and all the tple files in the folder were changed. When I go back or restart and look they keep this setting even though TextEdit is not listed as a recommended or default app.
So even though this is working and I can open my files I am bothered by this and the fact that the same file type (same extension) presents a different list and handles this differently from other files of the same type in another location.
Does this make sense? Ever see this happen before? Even though I was able to make the change do you still recommend that I reset the LaunchServices database and re-install the COMBO update?
