Facebook "Make Shared Album" breaks Aperture connection

As far as I can gather, Facebook albums of type "Shared Album" will disappear from your Aperture Facebook listing.
You can no longer share photos directly from Aperture for Facebook albums of this type.
I've not found much discussion on the web about this, but I have confirm this behavior by creating a test album in FB, then sharing it--it disappears.
If anyone knows of a fix to this, I'd appreciate it.
Regards...

Same problem here and it's the same with iPhoto.  It's just plain ridiculous and I don't know why Apple hasn't fixed it.  As a result, I'm not using the Aperture Facebook uploader anymore.  I'm using a 3rd party solution: Facebook Exporter for Aperture by Sean Farley.  It has it's unique problems as well, but at least Sean is working on it. http://seanfarley.org/aperture
Does anyone have any better solutions?

  • Switched from iPhoto to Aperture 3; where are my shared albums?

I've been using Home Sharing to share my iPhoto libraries across my home WiFi network between two Macs. The shared library disappeared after upgrading to Aperture 3 on my MBP and I can't find (or haven't found?) any reference to Home Sharing in the Aperture 3 manual. What am I missing? How can I get my library shared again? My library reappears when I launch iPhoto, but of course none of the work I've done in Aperture is reflected in the iPhoto albums. Thanks.

It may be that you have only switched to an empty Library.  After quitting Aperture, hold down the Option key while clicking to launch Aperture again.  Look at the choices of libraries it presents, and look for one with content, listing number of originals and versions.
    Keep us posted.

  • HT201077 I cannot connect to my shared albums or my photostream(only 25 pictures downloaded) on Photos app for Yosemite.  I have v10.10.3 on a 2010 iMac.  Thanks.

I cannot connect to my shared albums or my photo stream on Photos app in Yosemite.  I'm running v10.10.3 on a 2010 iMac.  Please help.

I have a similar problem. I have a Mac Mini Server hooked up to my TV. I want to use Screen Sharing to control it from other Macs in my house. None of my other computers can connect to it with Screen Sharing though. It works fine over any other VNC client, from any other computer, and on my iPod and iPhone. I've tried 4 different Macs in my house and not can access it with the built in screen sharing. Any ideas?

  • Photostream shares photos from shared albums to my computer, but "My Photostream" on my computer is empty. How can I get my photos to upload to my computer?

I have an iPhone 6 now, but I had an iPhone 5s previously. My Photostream stopped uploading pictures to my computer in November, 2013. If I create a shared album on my phone, it uploads to my PC, but "My Photostream" does not update. I've reset settings on the phone, turned sharing on and off, restarted my phone, updated operating systems, paid for more storage on iCloud.

    Greetings monienon,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you have your My Photo Stream activated on your iPhone but nothing is showing in My Photo Stream in iPhoto. In this situation, I would recommend working through the suggested troubleshooting steps for this situation located in the attached article.
Get help using My Photo Stream - Apple Support
I don't see any photos in the My Photo Stream view of iPhoto or Aperture.
Make sure your Mac has an active Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection. If you can't connect to the Internet, updates to My Photo Stream won't appear in iPhoto or Aperture. You can use these steps to troubleshoot your Internet connection on your Mac.
From your Mac, choose System Preferences > iCloud.
Make sure that the Photo Stream checkbox is selected and you're signed in to the same iCloud account that you're using on your other supported devices.
Open iPhoto or Aperture, then choose Preferences > iCloud (or Photo Stream).
If you're using iPhoto 9.4 or later or Aperture 3.4 or later, make sure that My Photo Stream is selected. If you want all new photos that you upload to your iPhoto or Aperture library to upload to My Photo Stream, select Automatic Upload.
If you're using iPhoto 9.2.2 through 9.3.2, or Aperture 3.2.3 through 3.3.2, select Enable Photo Stream and Automatic Import.
    Cheers,
    Joe

  • Why do my photo dates change she Facebook updates an album?

When I click on a FaceBook album in Aperture.  The little clock thing goes around and around then when it is done all the photos in that album have a date of waht the current date/time is.  It makes all them pics out of order when looking ato photos.  I don't want this.  I want the dates to remain the original.  I have no way of knowing waht the original date and time was now!  Very frustrating.

BTW, the title should be Why do my photo date's change when facebbok updates an album?

  • Easiest way to access shared album with Lion only

one of my friends is still using Lion only and she's want to make a photobook on her Mac with the pictures from a shared album (not photo stream) that I created. She also has an iPhone and iPad that have iOS6 (she's willing to update to iOS7 if that helps) and thus can view the shared album.
under this situation, what's the easiest way for her to get the pictures over to her Mac? There are over 100 photos so email is something she wants to avoid. Apps that are not very expensive (<$10) is ok if they can do the job quickly. and high resolution preferred (doesn't have to be the full resolution)
and she's using aperture to create the photobook, not that i think it's too relevant to the question
    thanks much in advance.

You might be thinking of Crossover. Not sure if Windows Media Player works under it, but their website has info on requested and working apps.
    Best of luck.

  • Sharing pictures in Aperture using the Time Capsule

We recently purchased an iMac, MacbookPro and Time Capsule (among other things ).  We were told we would be able to share files between computers easily using the Time Capsule.  The main thing we want this feature for is sharing photos in Aperture between the computers so editing can be done either and will be updated on both.  We have not been able to make this work, any suggestions?

The answer is yes, but it can be messy to setup.
If you normally get internet via wireless, then you cannot simultaneously have two different wireless connections running. If you use ethernet then you will be fine.. there are various work arounds but overall, be prepared to do some work on this.
Also note.. if you are buying a printer.. do not buy a USB only printer.. a wireless network printer is relatively cheap and far superior for networking purposes.. buy one that is airprint compatible and you are going to then be able to place the TC in the network.. that is what i though the question was.
A wireless network printer can connect as a client to the TC (or any other wireless router for that matter) and all network print functions are handled by the printer.. rather than the TC.. which gives much better results.

  • When I make a Book in Aperture and print a PDF proof version, all the modified photos (marked with Badges) are totally distorted.  What is causing this? All other - non-modified photos - appear to be fine.

When I make a Book using Aperture 3 and print a PDF proof version, all images that have been modified within Aperture are distorted in PDF form.  All other images appear ok.

As if only the corrected layer would have remained on the photos.
So the geometry of the pictures is correct - they are not skewed or something? Only the colors and intensities are wrong?
. Only in printing when it is converted to PDF file some photos are unrecognizable.
Is it the printed pdf or the pdf viewed on the screen? If it is the printed copy you need to fix your print settings.
Does Aperture give a warning, that the high resolution images are not available?
We had some cases of books not being able to be printed, and that was due to a broken reference to the original files. Only the book could not access the originals, all other parts of Aperture could. To check for this, try to add one more adjustment to one of the images in question. Is it possible? Are the edits reflected correctly in the pdf of the book?
We were shooting with 3 cameras, Lumix5 shooting RAW, Cannon 100 shooting JPEG and SONY alfa850 shooting RAW.
Have you tried to reprocess the raw of the edited images? (Photos > Reprocess Raw)
Also try, to remove one of the images from the book and to add it again. That usually helps, if Aperture has lost the connection to the originals used in the book.
If you no have done so already, repair (and if necessary rebuild) the Aperture library.

    Hello JimS19,
I'm sorry to hear you are having these issues with your iPad. If you are having issues accessing your Shared Albums from your iPad (but not from your other devices), you may want to double-check your iCloud Photo Sharing configuration as outlined in the following articles, just to make sure it hasn't changed:

  • Sharing Internet with windows, connected by ethernet, using mac's airport

So I have a desktop that doesn't have Wi-Fi and I too cheap to buy anything for it. So I'm trying to use the MacBook's airport to give the Windows internet through the ethernet connecting them both.
I went to internet sharing and entered "Share connection from: Airport" "To computers using: ethernet." and that's all I got up to so far.

Now connect the two computers via an Ethernet Cable and you should have internet access on the PC.
Make sure you set up the PC to use the Ethernet port for network / internet use.

  • Syncing albums from Aperture 3.5.1 to iPad

I have a series of albums in Aperture that I sync with my iPad using iTunes. In the past they always synced as albums, but now they have started syncing with the photos arranged by date as events. This is NOT how I want them arranged! How can I make the albums sync as albums again?

Are you sure that it isn't how you are viewing them on the iPad? Open Photos on the iPad and note that there are 2 icons at the bottom (Photos & Albums). Have you tried changing that to Albums?

  • Deleting Flickr-albums in Aperture

    Hi,
When I delete a Flick-album in Aperture all photos are deleted on Flickr.
    I don't want this...
Is there a way to delete a Flickr-album in Aperture and leave all images online?
    Thanks,
    Vincent

I 'disabled' the web account, but couldn't 'Remove' it. Thats the catch. I can't remove the account while Aperture is synchronizing. I can't stop or pause Aperture's sync process long enough to delete the account. Therefore I get stuck in a loop.
What I just tried, and was successful with:
Go to my MobileMe gallery page. Delete every gallery on the page. This apparently makes Aperture take a longer time to find the albums to sync to (this comes in very handy later)
    Launch Aperture.
Wait for it to start sync'ing (or more correctly, start trying to find the albums you just deleted).
click the 'sync' swirling icon next to the current gallery that is in the sync process.
Aperture throws a warning dialog something like "you can continue to sync by clicking this button again later".
Click OK, and prepare to do the following as fast as you can......
Very quickly, before Aperture decides to start syncing the next gallery in line, click:
    File->Web Accounts->Edit Web Accounts
Select 'MobileMe' and hit the ' - ' button to remove the account.
IF the "removing this MobileMe account will delete all your stuff" warning dialog pops up BEFORE the Aperture Sync process starts on the next MobileMe album, you're in luck, and you can successfully delete the MobileMe account. If not, go back and try again.
Aperture may 'unexpectedly quit' a time or two, but once I got the timing just right, I managed to finally delete the MobileMe web account, and now Aperture seems to have, for real, forgotten all about MobileMe.

  • Why are my icloud photo sharing albums taking up storage on my phone?

I am confused why if icloud photo sharing albums are supposed to have unlimited cloud storage why my icloud photo sharing albums are taking up storage on my iphone?

iCloud is syncing your Shared albums with your devices. All photos you share to iCloud are synced to the devices that subscribe to the  shared album.
If you want to save storage on your device, store your photos in iCloud Photo Library (Beta) and activate the option "Optimize Storage".
See: iCloud Photo Library beta FAQ - Apple Support
How does iCloud Photo Library save space on my device?
If you turn on Optimize [device] Storage, iCloud Photo Library will automatically manage the size of your library on your iOS device, so you can make the most of your device's storage and access more photos than ever. iCloud Photo Library stores the original, high-resolution photos and videos in iCloud and can keep lightweight, device-optimized versions on each of your devices. As long as you have enough storage, recent photos and videos that you access the most will stay on your device at full resolution.
To turn on Optimize [device] Storage on your device, tap Settings > iCloud > Photos or Settings > Photos & Camera, then select Optimize [device] Storage. You

I have an epson T50 shared network, which is connected to a computer that runs on Windows 7 64-bit. The 10 days Apple has updated the printer drive and since then has been trying to print the following message: / Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter2/Filter/rastertoescpII.app/Contents/MacOS/ rastertoescpII failed.
    What should I do?

The first thing you should do is re-write your post to make it a bit more understandable. I got you have an Epson printer connected to your PC, however after that  your post doesn't make any sense. Are you attempting to print from your iMac, if so then you need to download and install Bonjour for Windows on your Windows machine. Then set Windows so it has printer sharing turned on and then on the iMac simply follow Apple's instructions for adding a printer.
