Facebook messages - Push or not lumia 800

i see a few people have had this problem but i can not seem to find an answer as they are talking about apps.
i am using an up to date Lumia 800.
I am not using the facebook app, instead using the intergration to try and get the full nokia experience.
Chat works fine - but only connects over wifi. can it be turned on over network? (data usage isnt an issue)
I an see updates, comments, photos, newsfeeds, everything.....
except when someone sends me a message (not in online chat)
So if i am not online over wifi, or they just send me a message not a chat. as far as i can tell i can not see this without either getting the app or going to the mobile site.
have i missed a push feture somewhere or is this a development oversight

This is a refurbished Torch I received about 2 weeks ago. The previous one and this one worked fine until a few days ago. FB notifications work fine - both to it and my email. Just the messages part is having issues. I did a test and sent myself a FB message from my PC. No notification on the Torch but I could see the message on the Torch if I opened the Messages section of FB (the error message didn't pop up). Oddly enough - older messages in my FB folder don't show up. Just the one I sent myself.

Nokia Messaging push email not working

Hey, i am using a Nokia C3, already subscribed to a nokia messaging service through the operator. Using communities, mail and chat are all ok, except the push email. The push email is not working, sometimes it works, but mostly its not working. I tested to send email from my PC and the email never arrive on my phone. But when i open the mail application and synch, the email will be there. So, the push mail is not working. I set it up correctly i guess, i already set the settings to 'follow my account setting' and the account setting update inbox 'very fast'.
When first using this phone i use an "A" operator, subscribed to nokia messaging service, and then register the email in the mail application. Several week ago i changed to operator "B", and already removed the email and re-adding again. Any solution? Thanks before..

now the both function is working fine in my phone. space bar light and nokia messaging ( push email ) the thing is once it go for low battery profile mode. after that i charge my batter full also my push email will not work. once phone got restarted then it will start works. if my active power saver mode then if we charge my phone also it will not work even in full charge i need restart. before my phone got power saver mode my push email is working fine. once it go for active power saver mode then we charge full also push email will not work. again i need to restart my phone. for this issue what has to be done ? can any one suggects me regarding the same

Facebook and Facebook Messenger message push notifications not working?

I have a 4th generation iPod touch running iOS 6.1.5 and an iPhone 5 running iOS 7.0.4. On my iPod touch, Facebook and Facebook Messenger give me notifications for everything. On my iPhone, the Facebook app gives me every notification except for messages. Facebook Messenger, on the other hand, doesn't give me any kind of notification aside from the in-app notifications. I've been missing important messages on my iPhone because of this. I've set all notifications settings on my iPhone to "on." I turned on all the notifications settings in the notification center, the apps themselves, and even the Facebook integrated settings under Settings > Facebook. I also tried everything from uninstalling and reinstalling, to hard booting, to logging in and out of the applications, and I even turned off Facebook platform on the computer. I was wondering if this has something to do with being online on both my iPod touch and my iPhone, but my mom has an iPad 3 (I think?) and an iPhone 5s and she never has notification problems. I've already tried Googling my problem up, but none of the solutions worked. I really hope you guys can help me. Thanks a ton in advance!

I've already tried reinstalling and restarting both devices. I now get comment notifications on my ipad but no chat and still nothing on my phone. I don't understand what happened. It was working 2 hours ago.

Facebook Privacy Settings Lumia 800

Since last week, all messages posted from my Lumia 800 to Facebook have been posted with the 'Only Me' privacy setting. Previously I was able to post no problem with the Privacy set as 'Public'.
As far as I can see there are no options on the phone for privacy settings, and others that I know using Lumia phones have no problems sending messages to Facebook.
Does anyone know what could be causing this, and what the solution would be. I am posting messages from the 'Me Tile' and not from a Facebook app, though if I post from a Facebook app I have the same problem.

I have encountered this one wherein all my post created under Hotmail are set to "Only Me". You can try to check these settings and see if it will make any difference:
Go to Hotmail>Sign in your account>Under Messenger Social>Click on Add>Manage services
You will have a list of linked accounts to your Microsoft account. Under Facebook, click on Edit and put a check mark to "Share to Facebook".

Nokia lumia 800: how to make a backup of sms to pc

I would like to know how I can make a backup of my sms-messages on my Nokia lumia 800 to my pc (windows vista). I tried Zune, but that programm only gives the possibility to backup pictures and music. Installing Nokia PC Suite didn't work out. I could'nt connect my Nokia lumia 800 to my pc (no possible via usb and bluetooth).

You cannot back up SMS from WP7 handsets. The only available workaround is to copy the contents of the messages in a text file and save that to PC.

Nokia lumia 800 - facebook chat

On my Nokia lumia 800 facebook chat doesn't work, it has been working perfectly before since few day it lets me sign in, it says im signed in and im available but it said 'no one is online' when on my laptop people are online. I've tried different things to make it work but it just won't, any help please?

This issue has been escalated to Microsoft 2-3 days ago and is still under investigation. Some users reported though that this issue has been fixed. According here, the messenger Status is running normally:

If you have not setup your Facebook account in your phone, kindly set it up and check if you'll be able to see your FB friends under Messaging and then Online. Make sure to enable the Facebook Chat on your Messaging by going to Messaging > (...) > Settings > Facebook Chat and that your Status is set to Available.

Set password for messaging lumia 800

i have a nokia lumia 800 with windows phone 7.8.
there is a way or application that can set password for messaging, when I or another person want to acces "messaging" it must to insert password, a pin with 4 digits for example.

Nah, buddy. It's not possible on the phone.
Most of the applications I found in the Marketplace allow sending of encrypted messages in which recipient needs to decrypt, but you can check the Marketplace yourself. I may miss one that suits what you need: http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/store/search?q=message+password
However, you can create a password on the phone by going to Settings and then Lock+Wallpaper. This locks the phone and you need to input the password before you can access your phone.

Nokia Lumia 800 charging and photo messaging probl...

I got my Nokia Lumia 800 in May and was great to start with but when I updated the phone to the most recent update I started to get problems.
My picture messaging wont work at all, when i recieve a picture message I get "get media content now" but when I try and get it, it doesnt work, I have taken my phone into the shop to see if I had the correct apn etc but they cant see any problems with it. When I took it back to where I got it from and they told me that they would have to send it away without giving me a replacement until I get it back, telling me I would need to buy a new one, I cant have this as I have a micro sim card which will only fit in certain phones.
I have also recently started to get a charging problem aswell, I have reset my phone but nope, and I have tried other chargers which dont help either, my friend used my charger to see if it would work in her phone and the charger seems to be working fine, again it seems to be a fault with the phone.
I love my phone but I am not happy with the faults that seem to be happening now, as I need my phone to be in working order due to family illness.
Could anyone help me with this ?

Have you fully charged via Laptop ? If so let it run down 10% or so and connect to supplied charger and see if it will charge then, also if you have done a software update you could try reverting back to old software then re-installing latest again.

Lumia 800 email not synchronising

Has anyone else experienced a problem with email synchronisaton after the Tango update? My Lumia 800 periodically ceases to synchronise email accounts and requires a phone restart before it will pick up email changes. This seems to happen on a 5-7 day cycle. Is this a known bug or just a peculiarity of my phone? Prior to the recent update, I had not experienced this problem.

I've got the very same issue with my Lumia 800, as donaldc! after the Tango update the email synchronisation sometimes freezes (once a day or every two days), the SMS messages also cease to function (i.e., the recipients do not get my SMS messages) and the only way out is to restart the phone. This seems a memory leak or some (bad) combination with installed apps...

Lumia 800 and Zune will not hold sync info

I'm going to start by getting this off my chest...AAARRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!
I've spent the past five hours getting more and more annoyed with my Lumia 800 and Zune. I'm not a newbie, I'm a software developer and a mobile geek. I regularly flash custom firmware on symbian devices and I know my way around Windows, Mac and WindowsPhone.
Here's the problem:
I'm running Zune on Windows 7 and have a newly reset Lumia 800 on latest firmware.
I've associated a new live.com ID with the phone and also logged in to the account in Zune.
I plug in the phone to my PC and the connection looks absolutely fine.
In Zune, I drag some music from My Collection to the phone icon (lower left) and I see the message "Added 1 album" but then nothing happens. I right-click on the phone icon and see "Start sync" which I click but still nothing happens other than the "Start sync" menu item is now greyed out.
I've done all the steps of certificate removal, RSA folder renaming, reinstalling Zune, resetting the phone several times to no avail. I've tried changing the USB ports and cables.
How can such a key requirement of this Lumia device be so problematic?
If anybody can suggest anything other that what I've already tried it would be appreciated greatly.

Check whether you may have use your Lumia 800 on another PC initially so it has it's primary sync relationship with that PC.
When you connect your Lumia with your PC and Zune starts select 'phone' and verify the sync relationship which is shown below the phone image. If this says 'guest' you will have to click 'Change Sync Relationship' to move it to the PC you are using.
On any other PC you can remove the phone from the list of know devices through Settings>phone>sync options and click 'forget this phone for each phone you wish to remove. If multiple phone are known to this install of Zune you will see left and right arrows besides the phone image with which you can select the phone to change settings for.

Lumia 800 not picking up 3G T-mobile network

Hi there, I am having problems picking up the T-mobile 3G network with the Lumia 800. The phone works fine on the 2G EDGE network...but data connection is soooo slow!!! I think the phone may not be compatible with the 3G network. Anyone having the same issue?

When you sday T Mobile, you mean T Mobile USA or one of the many T Mobile's of Europe?
In Europe T Mobile uses the same frequencies as the other operators. In the USA, T Mobile uses a unique frequency band called AWS only used by them, and a canadian operator (and one in Chili I understood).
In total there are 5 3G frequency bands used in the world, and 4 GSM bands. Almost no phones have all bands. (In fact Nokia Symbian3 models are almost the only models that do.) Most phones have a subset only.
The Lumia 800 has 3 of these five 3G bands. But there are two models.
1) The European model (still sold through Amazon or other channels in the US,) has the 900/1900/2100 band, which makes it work in Europe, most of Asia and on most of AT&T's 3G network.
2) The US model, which has the 850/1900/2100 bands, which makes it work on AT&T, and most of Europe and parts of Asia.
Neither of these two models work on T Mobile USA.
The 710 model, when you get the US model at least, does work on T Mobile USA though.

Have you tried charging the phone through a PC? Please note that it may take time before the phone will switch on. You can also press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds. Check this link for other troubleshooting steps:

Lumia 800 not switching on. Dead?

I have had my Lumia 800 for a little less than a year and 6 months without any major problems besides the typical battery issues. Few days ago, I restarted my mobile (long pressing the hold/lock button till the goodbye message appears) only to never switch on again. I tried every possible key combinations, tried charging through the power outlet & the PC yet the phone wouldn't switch on. Please help.

Was the battery fairly when you rebooted it? Is it possible that the battery is dead? If so you could try charging with a high output charger, such as one for a tablet.
Other than that, have you tried rebooting the phone again by pressing and holding the power button for at least 10 seconds or so?

Help! facebook saying "this message thread is not available"

dear all
i have had facebook installed for 3 months now on my curve, but the past 3 days when i open any message, it says 'retrieving message thread', then "this message thread is not available" every time.
any ideas as its very frustrating!!!

This is a good alternative but having a apps dedicated for facebook and not being able to take the benefits of it is very dissapointing!!!
You better delete the application from your device and download it again. Now check the behavior!
