Facebook not showing photos

Hi,
My Facebook app does not show photos, mine or other peoples, when in album view I get empty boxes and when I click to view a photo I get an ugly pixelated grey box with a cross in it - any ideas? I've checked the apps permissions on Facebook and it has access to my photos.

Thanks for posting your concern, Shailja61. Does it happen regardless of the connection you are using? Is the phone's software up-to-date? Are you also unable to see your Facebook contacts photos when you go to People hub? Did you already try updating all the system apps? To update it, scan the QR codes from this link: App updates.
We'll wait for your response.

  • Facebook not showing uploaded photos in personal homepage

For some reason Facebook does not show photos uploaded immediately when one clicks on the name of the account holder,
but it does show them on news feed for others who are allowed to see the account holder's photos.
Any body else run into this, and know what setting I might need to make to the Facebook account holder who has Mountain Lion?
Or is there a setting for the Safari cookies that works better to make it visible that way?
I would ask Facebook but their responses take much longer to happen.

The only Facebook albums that will appear in iPhoto will be manually created ones. Auto-created albums by other apps or Facebook itself (Instagram, Mobile Uploads, Wall Album, etc) won't appear. Are those the ones missing?

  • Albums not showing photos

I am just learning about IPhoto 5. I made albums and all was great for days with slide shows and all. Then I added some new photo's to albums, now my albums will not show photo's. I can only see my photo's in IPhoto folders that are of various numbers, 01, 02, 04, 10 etc... what are these numbers and why did my photos disapear from my albums?

    Hi cazam,
I am not sure if you are talking about seeing the albums within iPhoto or if you are talking about seeing the album folder in the Finder. The album folder in the Finder that was present with iPhoto 4 is no longer used by iPhoto 5. This is why you don't see it in the Finder.
This is a view of how the iPhoto 5 Library looks in the Finder.
It is organized by Year folders. Inside the Year folders are Month folders. Inside the Month folders are the days of the Month. Inside the day folders are the photos you took on that day. If you imported video clips and RAW files on that day they will be in an Originals folder. If you have edited any photo imported on that day, the original will be in that folder also.

  • Photostream not showing photos on iMac

Why is my Photostream not showing photos in iphoto, if I drag them in they do go onto the ipad but disappear off the photostream in iPhoto?

Same problem here. Photostream works (most of the time). Photos are synchronized. Sometimes, it seems as if it wouldn't synchronize them, but then it starts a few minutes later to put them in the Photostrem August Event under events. Just the Photostream part of iPhoto doesn't show any photos...
But I'm glad I've found someone with the same problem. Now we can compare our cases and maybe, we'll find what we have in common that could have caused this.
I'll start describing everything I can think of that could influence this and you (and others) can tell me if this is true for you too.
Can't be the system, as I see you're on Leopard (10.5). I'm on Mountain Lion (10.8) and problem already existed under Lion(10.7).
    1. Old iMac (mid2007, at that time high end, but now obviously quiet slow)
    2. iPhoto is on an external harddrive (that's what I suspect it might come from). Not sure if the problem was there before, because I rarely go to the Photostream view.
    3. Used Duplicate Annihilator to find duplicates. It said something about turning off photostream first. Normally, I did this. Maybe I forgot once and my library got damaged?
Not sure what else could have caused this... Maybe we find out if we compare...

  • IPhoto is not showing photos stored in albums in the last week, and when I add recent photos, they don't show, or show as black.

iPhoto is not showing photos stored in albums in the last week, and when I add recent photos, they don't show, or show as black. What's happening ?  I show an incompatible upgrade available for OSX Maveriks, which I have not yet installed.

What version of iPhoto are you using?  Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • IOS8 Photos not showing photos in chronological order

Photos App not showing photos in chronological order!!
what gives apple?!  I take a picture, go to Photos and since theres no more camera roll, I'm forced to go into Photos Tab, and when I select "Collections", I see the tiny thumbs of all my pictures sorted which look fine in chronological order, But when select to go down to the next level of viewing (Moments), the dates are all over the place!  When I scroll all the way down, I should technically be at the most recent of my pictures taken. Its not, it shows Aug26. Then one above that Aug 21 Then next few are in Aug; mind you we are in September. Then theres Jun 25. THEN finally some recent photos of Sept 26 and 15!!! THEN the next one is MAY 31.
So trying to find my most recent photos taken is painstakingly tough.

Check this thread out. I have mobileme, but this solution worked, perhaps you could try something similar for your Gmail account...

  • Why does the iTunes not show "Photos"

Why does the new iTunes not show "Photos" after it is synced, and why does iCloud not show Photos also?

Ralph9430 offers a good suggestion.  But you may need to do this before taking his advice:
Check in iPhoto's Preferences (which you can open from the iPhoto menu).  Look in General, and make sure "Connecting Camera Opens" is set to "Image Capture").
If it is set to "iPhoto", you won't be able to get to Image Capture easily.

  • IPhoto does not show photos in my iPhone

    Hi!
As the title has said, my iPhoto does not show photos from my iPhone, but it DOES recognize that iPhone is connected.
But before all of this happened, I changed my setting (which I forgot how to reset that) to NOT open iPhoto automatically when my phone is connected.
And also, a week ago, my iPhone usb cable seems to be spoiled at one end. It can still connect the phone to the laptop, but very loosely - as if some wires inside are broken.
So I really do not know if the problem I mentioned is caused by my setting OR is it because of my spoiled cable (that it could not transfer the photos from the phone)
And if it is believed that it is caused by my setting, could you please guide me on how to re-set the whole thing?
    Thank you very much.
Ps. I can still sync my songs in itunes to my music in iPhone.

"But before all of this happened, I changed my setting (which I forgot how to reset that) to NOT open iPhoto automatically when my phone is connected."
    Launch iPhtoto.
    In the menu, iPhoto>Preferences>General.
    Change it back.

App is open but will not show photos.

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a solution.  We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
what do you see in the iPhoto window when iPhoto opens?
    what fixes have you tried?
    where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
    what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?

  • Spiceworks device view still not showing photos of assets?

Hi, any progress on the issue of Device View not showing photos of devices? I found a few old threads on it but couldn't find anything updated. I'm on the latest version of Spiceworks 7.4.00070 and it looks like this:
I've had this problem since I first installed the app. It's only with the latest release that the old OptiPlex 755's started to show pictures, anything newer than that model just gives a generic icon. Obviously not a crucial issue, but would be nice if it could be fixed! :)
(Also, my HP 3525 printer is only detecting with 256MB when it actually has 1GB of memory, but this is also a minor issue, haha)
    Thanks!

  • IPhoto not showing photos in Modified folder

I have an issue uploading photos into facebook.  I use iPhoto to manage all of my photos on my iMac, and I created different albums to organize photos.  When I try to upload some photos into my facebook, only the photos in Original folders show up in the albums, and the ones in Modified folders are missing.  When I open album directly in iPhoto, all the photos are there.  This happens both in Safari and Chrome.  Is there a way to fix this so that I can see all of my photos when I access iPhoto albums from the browser?

    iPhoto 09?
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • IPhoto does not show photo's downloaded

In iPhoto, my photo's I have downloaded from facebook or other sights appear as grey squares and does not show the photo's. However when I run the cursor over them, each photo appears for a brief second then back to a grey square. How can I view these?

This has nothing to do with Pages.

  • Media browser does not show photos

The media browser in iDvd & iWeb does not show the photos in my iPhoto library. It does show the tunes in my iTune library but not the photos in my iPhoto library. When I click photos in the browser, the browser says, "Open iPhoto2 or later or Aperature1.5 or later from your iPhoto or Aperature library in this list."
I have iPhoto6.0.6. When I made a DVD two months ago everything worked okay. I suspect that I am missing something very obvious, but to date it escapes me. Does anyone have some experience with this problem? Please help.

One thing that you can try is the often used maintenance of deleting preferences and doing a permissions repair. To delete preferences, close iMovie and iPhoto and trash the files named com.apple.iMovie.plist and com.apple.iPhoto.plist found in User (the house icon)/Library/Preferences. Then restart your computer and do a permissions repair using the Disk Utility app found in HD/Applications/Utilities. In the left hand pane of the Disk Utility window select your hard drive icon and then click on repair permissions. Takes about 3 minutes to repair. Then relaunch iMovie and iPhoto and see if you still have the problem. Those applications will recreate the .plist files that you deleted.
However, this might be an iPhoto issue, and I would suggest that you post your question in the iPhoto forum as well.
Have you updated iPhoto recently? Have you made any manual changes to your iPhoto library? Do you use keywords? Is your iPhoto library stored on an external drive where possibly iMovie can't locate it?
It could be that you just need to rebuild your iPhoto library. You can do that by holding down the Option and Apple keys while launching iPhoto. Then chose the first 3 selections in the drop down menu. But be sure first to back up your iPhoto library to guard against power outages or other probs during the rebuild process. As I say, check with the iPhoto forum if deleting preferences and repairing permissions does not work.
See if anything in this thread helps:

  • Picture frame not showing photos

I sync my IPad with photos in Aperture. Recently I scanned a couple of my old photos and imported them as JPEG in Aperture and synced them with IPad. I can see these photos in the Photo application, but when I select the album with scanned photos in Picture Frame, they dont show up. That is In Settings I can see the album but when I play the Picture Frame these scanned photos do not show up.
Other photos (non scanned) show up fine.
Any ideas why Picture Frame is not showing scanned photos?
    TIA

    From Apple:
"This is a known issue that we are currently investigating."
Just in case anybody else ever has this problem. Doesn't seem like many people do, however.

  • IPhoto is not showing photos that i have saved on an external drive. I can see tht the photos are on the drive, but iPhoto is not showing them. Help!!

Iphoto is not showing the photos that I know are stored on the external drive. I can see that there is 45 Gig of photos stored on the drive as they appear in finder when looked for, but I cannot see them in iPhoto.
I have used the external drive as the default location for my iPhoto library and not had this problem before.
I had a message earlier about generating thumbnails. I also had iMovie running this morning. This is when the problem began.
Have tried restarting computer and all the obvious things.
    Also tried rebuilding the library.
    Please help!

Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 08* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.
