Facebook Notifications via app and via email

So apparently the facebook app doesn't notify you when someone likes your post, if I turn on emails that the fb app turned off is it going to mess up my push notifications? Also can we expect that to me on there next I really don't care if I can check in someone where, all other notifications would be a lot better to have via the app. Just a suggestion

Basically if your Gmail address is not assoicated through BIS on your device then you will not get the notifications.

I have already used it (5800 XM and X7) and was disappointed as it didn't live up to the hype. I don't particularly wanna give it a third shot. ATM, eBuddy is okay, but i really want something native.

File Sharing via Macbooks and via ethernet

I have a new Macbook and my wife has a 4year old MBP. The old Macbook does not have firewire so we were advised from the Apple store to transfer files via File sharing in System Preferences and ethernet cable. one of the mac's appears to have transferred the files in a dropbox, but when we try and access the dropbox on the other Macbook it is asking "Enter your username and password to access the file server "Ian Thompson's Macbook" as registered user. Which password is this? My wife apparently may have set up a different networking password separate to the login password but cannot remember it. Is there anyway of retrieving it from keychain access or resetting. I know the gear button can reset it but you need to know the old password? Please help as I don't know which password it is asking for?

There is no such thing as a Networking Password. Passwords follow user_names.
When you connect to a Server (or any Mac acting as a Server) the login Dialog requires user_names and passwords that are valid on the REMOTE Mac and presented to you on the screen of the local Mac. To get access to files on the REMOTE Mac, you need to prove that you are allowed access there, by entering a user_name and password valid on the REMOTE Mac.
There is no way to probe around and find out those passwords, or even the length of the password. Do not be alarmed if the dialog box puts up seven or eight bullets for a password you know is only three letters -- thats what it always does.
When you enter a password, it is immediately hashed (encrypted) and transmitted that way to the remote Mac. The remote Mac can only compare for equal to determine if that was or was not the correct password -- it cannot give you a hint.

Mail.app and recalcitrant email servers

There's a Mail.app behavior that really bothers me, and I think it should be changed. That is, whenever Mail can't connect to its server for whatever reason, it prompts you for your password, giving you the option to save it in your keychain. This drives me nuts.
One, the vast majority of the time, there's nothing wrong with Mail, it just can't find the server. Two, if I've already saved the password in my keychain, then prepopulate this error message with my (obscured) password, so I can just hit enter: as it is, I don't know whether or not my password in my keychain will get blown away if I don't check that checkbox when I do fill out this unnecessary error dialogue. Three, a better error would just be, "Mail.app cannot connect to the server, would you like to try again later?"
This has always bugged me.

I'm having the same problem, taking off SSL did nothing. Mac Mail still gets nothing, seems to be able to send things fine, but no receipt; the problem started in Feb this year. I have been using Entourage since then and it seems to work fine. I'd rather use Mac Mail.

This is happening because they were purchased with your older Apple ID. Apps and there updates are permanently tied to the Apple ID used to purchase them, regardless of the ID on your phone in Settings>Store. The only way to stop the prompt for your older ID would be to delete these apps from your phone.

BB 9300 - Facebook notifications

I'd like to remove the facebook notifications auto receiving.
The option in the BB facebook app "Facebook Notifications" is unticked and I also already selected ""Turn off all notifications by email".
Despite this, I'm still automatically receiving those annoying notifications .
I've also already tried several times to restart the BB and also uninstalling and reinstalling the FB app, but the result is the same.
Can anyone help me?

OK then try something else If you don't want any type of notification like visual or sound from facebook to BlackBerry we can try this On your HomeScreen Go to Options > Sound and Ring Tones > Profile Management > With your trackpad highlight your current profile Press the Menu key and edit > Scroll down to Other Applications -Notification > expand it > Click on Facebook > On that screen You can disable the Sound Alert ,Visual Alert to Silent and Off .

Not receveing Facebook notifications OS X Yosemite

Suddenly my Facebook notifications stopped working and I can't get them to work again. I've removed the Facebook account from Internet Accounts prefpane and add it again, but still don't work. Anyone with the same issue or any solution?

It works fine with latest Adobe AIR Runtime (this week update).

Did you mean that you're getting tone for Messages/email in your H700C bluetooth headset? I Blackberry use HS-655+ Wireless Headset which don't give me such prompts through my headset.

I can't log into facebook, twitter and youtube via apps.

I have been having this problem almost for a month, I tried many things to fix it. I removed the apps and installed them again, I restored my iPhone, I checked my internet access etc etc. Everything is fine, I just can't go on facebook, twitter, and youtube via apps. Safari doesn't work for twitter and youtube -- I can go on facebook mobile, but not facebook.com. I read many solutions but none of them worked for me. If you know something about it, please let me know.

If cant log into Facebook, you will just have to go on to safari and do Facebook on there but also you could try deleting again, restarting your iPad and get the app again.

It is very difficult to navigate on facebook via safari. The IPAD does not allow other browsers to download and use it almost prevents the facebook app and the lack of scrolling the page.

I also have problems with Facebook on my iPad 2. I don't do a lot with Facebook and generally only post on my feed page. Sometimes hitting return on the keyboard enters the comment, sometimes not. Sometimes the comment will show on my iPad but if I revisit that page I find that the comment has disappeared. So I'd say that Facebook and my iPad are not totally compatible with each other.
I looked into Friendly and was about to purchase this free ap. But before I did I went to the Friendly web page for more info. There I found a page with users comments. One after another users complained about bugs with Friendly. The developers claimed a fix was coming but the user comments complained about the lack of response and support. One of the fixes suggested by the developers was to log out of Friendly then log back in. One user complained that doing this three times in ten minutes was not very helpful. Because of this I decided to avoid Friendly.
I did find a Facebook developed ap but it was for the iPhone. I presume that iPhone aps will work on the iPad but I'll wait until Facebook releases an iPad compatible ap. If there is an ap developed by Facebook for the iPad that I missed please let me know.
