Facebook on Firefox crashes my whole computer

I've got Windows 7 system and for the past week I haven't been able to open Facebook. It crashes before the page opens. I don't get any error messages because it stops working before this. I have to manually turn the computer off and on again as Ctr Alt Del doesn't work either.

Does it have any effect if you disable plugins like Java and Flash?

  • Firefox crashes the entire computer

For roughly the last year, Firefox has been crashing my entire computer, causing the system to hang and then shut down unexpectedly.
I have been able to narrow down the source of these crashes specifically to Firefox over the past few months.
I have a Dell XPS 8000 bought January 2010 with an i7 860 2.80Ghz and 16GB RAM, running Windows 7 64-bit. The crashes I receive only occur when Firefox is running and occur anytime between 5 mins of running FF up to 30 mins. I have tested this with nothing running except for FF and still receive crashes.
I use CoreTemp to monitor each core and none of them go above 50 C at the time FF crashes. I can run video playlists on Winamp, sync my iPad with iTunes as it updates several apps, use AutoGK and WinFF simultaneously to convert video, and have Chrome running with 5-8 tabs open and never receive this crash. I've also pushed the system further by having all the above running as well as CS3 Photoshop and Dreamweaver and mimic a server with Xampp and even then, my system will run just fine, albeit with temps in the high 70s.
I've only received these crashes only with Firefox running. To fix this, I've run fresh installations of Firefox twice and then today, since I've been running the same profile info since before 3.5, I backed up my bookmarks, completely uninstalled and then reinstalled FF without any of my addons, and in the middle of recreating my normal tabs and pinned tabs, received the same old crash. As a last resort, I let go of all my bookmarks and began adding them all individually, and once again, received the same crash; this last test was when I had nothing but FF running and temps below 50 C.
I am terribly frustrated by this issue because I am writing this from an HP laptop running FF with a profile that's been used since 3.5 and I can run FF and Minecraft on this laptop with no problems at all. I also have the same FF profile ported over to my Macbook Air and no issues there either.
I'm at a loss as to what could be causing this problem or how I can go about fixing it and any help would be greatly appreciated.

pffft same problem here just keeps on happening. Im running some pretty grunty games and my system is ok. as soon as Im using FF for a while my computer freezes. its only when I use FF. Ive checked computer health. Diagnostics, checked for malware and checked drivers. just cant figure it out. any takers?

  • Aperture is crashing my whole computer when editing

I am a Photographer and so I have many RAW files on my Mac..
I use Aperture to edit, but in the last few days when I am editing a picture (zoomed in, skin smoothing or retouching) Ap will just close, the only warning being the coloured spinning ball.
Last night my whole computer just switched off whilst I was in the middle of editing, and this morning the screen went dark and an instruction came up to turn off the computer by holding the power button, and restart.
I've checked my RAM and there seems to be plenty.
It was just an issue exclusively to Aperture, but now I seem to be experiencing the spinning coloured ball when trying to use Safari.
    So something is amiss.
I was wondering if it just may be Aperture, in which case I was going  to export all the projects to the desktop and then uninstall and reinstall the software..
If anyone can help it would be much appreciated!
As a photographer I will be lost if I can't edit!
    Thanks in advance.

  • Firefox crashes when I load any youtube video on the latest version, it not only crashes firefox but my whole computer goes blank and I have to restart, why is this?

Backstory: There are two possible events that could be causing this
1: At some point I may have followed a ''Tinyurl' link that consquently lead me to a youtube video, to which youtube worked perfectly fine before hand, and this is where i witnessed the first crash. Theories into whether this link, previously stated, may have done something to my system have been thought about, but the fact that youtube still works on the latest Microsoft Internet Explorer seems to present the idea of a virus or an error redundant. I own the latest Macfee antivirus software and Ccleaner(running the registry check) and have run them complete with disc defragment and scan disc error recovery along with an additional malware scanner. Nothing seems to have come up on anything. After doing all this, my last resort was System restore and this seemed to solve the problem, mainly because i had an earlier version of firefox. therefore i resisted updating for aslong as possible whenever it told me to update. but the otherday i thought i'd risk it again thinking it may have been a problem alot of people have been having and it would of been fixed, but sadly it hasn't. this lead me to google the problem and was advised to start firefox on 'safe mode' as there may have been a confliction between add ons or plugins with youtube or some thing like that, but sadly that hasn't worked either. The plugins i had installed with it were the ones firefox has told me to get, or recommended and the only two addons i had on firefox was Adblock plus (fanboy subscrip) and Noscript.
Details of what actually happens: go to a youtube link, video loads for about 2 seconds(both video and audio), screen freezes, and flashes maybe once with some small lines across the bottom half of the screen horizontally towards the right corner, then the screen goes blank and makes my laptop dorment, but still running, thus I restart my system.
Sadly now when I system restore there isn't a point far back enough before this problem. So its either i downgrade(which seems to be the only option) or simply stop using firefox, as internet explorer works perfectly fine. however running firefox with no scrip and adblock plus is the ideal browser customisation, which is why this is rather annoying.
so number 1 was the tinyurl theory and i must admit i was abit foolish to follow such a random link, but whats happened has happened.
2: basically there is a major disfunction with the latest firefox that has to with the addons i have included onto firefox and this seems to be causing a terrible effect on my system.
in a nutshell: firefox worked perfectly before upgrading to the new firefox and before i followed this link, the rest of my system is completely normal and virus and error free or so it says, Other browsers seem to work also. safe mode does not cure the problem.
Running on a customised Dell laptop, which is pretty midrange-toprange and hasn't been active long, so it has the general HD video card thats included in all Studio 15 Dell laptops.
    any help appreciated.
    cheers.

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

  • I just updated to the newest Firefox 9.0.1 and now I get pop up ads as a new tab that takes over my web session. Firefox also crashes my whole computer and restarts it. I am running Windows XP Pro.

Pop Ad tabs include ad, when I close it asks if I'm sure I want to leave the page. I say yes and then there is another survey ad that says I may have won something. This whole process requires at least 4 denials before I can get the page to close.
Periodically my computer will freeze and restart when I am using Firefox.

    Sounds like Malware.

  • Adobe flash player crashing my whole computer could anyone please help?

Is this just a win vista problem or something?

         Current Mode: 1280 x 900 (32 bit) (60Hz)
Everything is up to date explorers, java, direct x, video cards, checked every single driver...
    This is my problem:
The newest flash player crashes everytime I open certain web pages like failblog or tinychat which requires a webcam
I'm not sure what is causing it but it's only when i'm on those webpages that it crashes...
I can go on youtube kongregate steam and I can play tons of games the only thing I cant do is go on certain websites that messes with the newest version of flash for some reason...
I can use ANY other version of adobe flash and it won't crash at all but the problem with using the older versions is that I can't use my webcam on certain sites.
Will there be another update release for adobe flash that will fix this problem? The previous version was fine I don't know what was changed but will it get fixed?
And yes I have also been into the error logs but it doesn't show anything and the codes that it does show, people don't know what the hell it means lol just a bunch of binary number like data...I could post that but I doubt it would be of any help it's just a few short lines of numbers on each crash...I have purposely crashed my computer about 2 times to check if error logs popup and to see what is crashing the flash player but nothing changes in the crash log..
So to sum my problems up into a short paragraph....newest flash player crashes my computer when I go on webcam/webchat/certain websites with flash videos on it, also if I right click and try to tamper with the settings it also crashes my computer...I would like to know if there's a possible fix for this or will there be another update released anytime soon?
Please help and thank you for all future responses I will continue to use older versions of flash player till this problem is resolved, also on my newer i-7 620 processor 5850 ati laptop it crashes but rarely although I can use my webcam on msn on that computer but this is one has problems....

Sorry I wasn't able to respond for a while I work two jobs so I   really don't have time for this although I would still like to get this   solved very much.
In the event viewer all it says is that there was an unexpected shut down.
I  have checked and updated everything on both computers I tried to   disable hardware acceleration and that still didn't change anything.
Sometimes  when I try to just right click on a flash player and change  the  settings it crashes, if I try to load certain pages it crashes, if I   try to use a webcam chat on a webcam site it crashes. Though I can   still view other people's webcams in chat ex: tinychat I could be in   there chatting away with some friends from across country and nothing   will happen until I click webcam and flash player asks to allow, it  will  crash if I try to right click anywhere and that little flash  settings  popup it crashes.
All of this happens when I use the most  current version of flash  player any other previous version will not  crash when doing any of this  although I can't use my webcam since the  website is running an updated  version which is why I would like to get  this problem fixed.
The new firefox update didn't help  at all it still just freezes.  There is no blue screen, no crash error  report, no event log. The event  viewer just says it was shut down  unexpectedly.
I also tried uninstalling all webcam  applications unplugging my  webcam and that didn't affect it at all.  I've done everything that  people have been doing on here to solve there  problems, I used the  search button and tried options from various  threads but none work for  me.
I can do everything  normally that requires flash player like play  games, watch videos, and  other stuff but it just crashes when I do those  certain things as  stated above. It's weird that there is no log, no  anything just a  freeze and I can't do anything to the computer i've  tried letting it  sit for about 15 minutes but it didn't respond. I used  ctrl alt del  after a while, alt tab, alt f4, holding down certain keys,  holding the  power button in for a while and nothing will happen. It just  sits  frozen untill I unplug it.
Is there anything I can do to get an error log of the crash since event viewer isn't working?

  • Youtube crashes my whole computer

youtube starts playing then jams up and sometime my desktop freezes as well, what is wrong?

Crashes or other problems with certain multimedia content in Firefox (such as Youtube videos and Flash animations or games) can often be resolved by performing the steps in these Knowledge Base articles:
    * [[Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems]]
    * [[Flash 11.3 crashes]]
    * [[Flash 11.3 doesn't load video in Firefox]]
On Windows Vista and above, you can disable Flash protected mode by following the instructions on these pages:
    * http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1018071#TemporaryWorkaround
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Flash#Disabling_Protected_Mode_in_Flash_11.3
(See [http://blogs.adobe.com/asset/2012/06/inside-flash-player-protected-mode-for-firefox.html this Adobe blog post] for technical details about Flash protected mode.)

  • Firefox made my whole computer slow?

I upgraded to Firefox 6, as soon as I started using it, I realized that everything was starting to get slower. Pages would take a lot longer to open, and 1:00 youtube videos would take an hour to load. (when before it only took a few seconds) I really need help! I tryed upgrading Flash and reader but it really didn't help! Please help me.

I was having the same problem with crashes, and while it seemed related to Firefox I was not sure. There was some evidence from the crashes that it was possibly related to upgrading my Nvidia driver to a 320.** version. The Nvidia support forums seemed to suggest a problem with the latest versions of the driver. Following advice in http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-1790345/display-driver-stopped-responding-recovered-560.html I have now upgraded to version 326.80 Beta. The problem seems to have been fixed.

  • FireFox knocks the whole computer off the internet

When I am using FireFox(at present 3.6.8) eventually it will stop accessing the internet. I will start getting nothing but "server taking to long to respond" or "can't find www.xxxxxxx.xxx" or "may be to busy", etc... I ahve several others browsers installed also and when this happens, they ALSO exhibit the same problems. I have to wait 5 minutes or reboot the system to re-access the internet. It does not affect my network connection, just access to the internet.
So far, my only solution is to never use FireFox

Reply to Jscher 2000. No that didn't do it. It just locked up again. Darn!

  • Why Safari crashes the whole computer once in while?

Safari crashes without an aparent reason and it crashes all the system at the same time. And it's also slower than other browsers.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
In the Console window, look under the heading DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION on the left for crash or panic reports. If you don't see that heading, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
A crash report has a name that begins with the name of the crashed process and ends in ".crash". It may be under either of the two subcategories, "System" and "User." A panic report has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends in ".panic".
Select the most recent of each and post the entire contents — the text, please, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post any other kind of diagnostic report, such as a hang log — they're very long and not helpful.

Within the past few months, I have not been able to use Firefox at all. It started crashing my whole computer, making the whole thing go blue screen before shutting down, and I have uninstalled and reinstalled it TWICE, the second time sacrificing ALL OF MY BOOKMARKS, and even after that, it STILL CRASHED MY COMPUTER!
