Facebook Photo Albums Missing in iPhoto

When I try and sync my Facebook account with iPhoto 9.4.1 only 3 of my many albums show up.  Does this on both of my machines (2011 iMac, 2010 MBP).  Tried reinstalling iPhoto, purging permissions and deteting and re-adding the account, among other things.  No change.
Anyone else having this problem?  Is there a solution?  Is this a known issue that will adressed in an update?
Thanks.
-Doug

Two years later and the problem persists. Terrible! I wish Apple would fix this already! I have already reported this problem to them via the proper channel.
Only 13 of 23 albums sync. And, iPhoto will only synchronize a maximum of 25 photos from each album. Flickr albums do not seem to suffer from this bug.

It's not too easy, but the Milkman Games GoViral ANE that let's you communicate with your Facebook app has detailed instructions on how to set things up.
    Read this getting started article:

I don't know for sure that you get access to the user's photo album, but think you can by using the Facebook Graph API. Here's more information about that:

OMG, I totally did not see the edit button at the top right corner of the Albums window/page.
Selecting that, then selecting the album BIKE brought up the RED button to the left of the album and ta-da, delete.
Sometimes I seek so hard I do not see.

All my old photos are missing from iPhoto on my Mac- any one have ideas on how to retrieve?

Do you have a Time Machine backup or any backup of your Mac? Then you could try to restore from the backup.
If your photos are very important documents, you could also try data recovery software. Usually the trial versions are free, but if you want to safe the recovery photos you have to pay.  Disk Drill works well to recover jPEG photos, see:  http://www.cleverfiles.com/
It is still not obvious what might have happened to your iPhoto Library.  Have you searched for different iPhoto Libraries?
You can search everywhere with FindAnyFile, where Spotlight will not search.
I learned this  from Old Toad , see his post here:
Re: My iPhoto Library disappeared...how do I get it back?
Download and run Find Any File to search for a file with "ThumbJPGSegment" in the file name. These are files common to all versions of  iPhoto libraries.
FAF can search areas that Spotlight can't like invisible folders, system folders and packages. If there's a library hiding somewhere on your hard drive FAF will find it.

  • Facebook album missing from iphoto

I am using both iPhoto and Aperture, and both are linked to my Facebook account. However, the primary photo album I use on Facebook - the default "Mobile uploads" album - does not show up in either application. All the other albums do...and if I create a new album in Facebook, it nearly immediately shows up in iPhoto. I've tried removing my Facebook account and re-adding it, but each time I do it goes through and syncs up the albums and omits the Mobile Uploads.
Any ideas how to gently nudge iPhoto (and/or Aperture) into noticing that album on Facebook?
Here's a clue about what may be the source of the problem. Some time ago, when I first connected Aperture to my Facebook account something happened and I had two Mobile Uploads albums and, if I remember correctly, they seemed to be duplicates of each other. So I deleted one of them, thinking somehow Aperture was goofing off and displaying the same album twice. But I believe what I later found, is that the folder that was left behind was a static copy of the "live" Mobile Uploads album on Facebook - so I think I deleted the live one. This became clear when I added new photos to the album on Facebook and they were not updating in Aperture.
So it seems like somewhere my Mac is being told to ignore that album. Interestingly, I got a new Mac a couple of months ago, and it also ignores Mobile Uploads folder so it seems like that instruction is coming from Facebook, rather than being controlled by something locally on my Mac (I didn't import anything from my old Mac).
Just theories...I have no idea what's actually going on. But I want to tell iPhoto and/or Facebook "Hey look...forget what you may have been told in the past. Here's a Facebook account, and here's a copy of iPhoto. You guys talk, and show all the albums currently in that Facebook account in iPhoto."
    Any help?

I think if you go to this link you can fill out a form which sends a message to iTunes support:
    https://expresslane.apple.com/Symptoms.do
I found that by going to the Express Lane (https://expresslane.apple.com/), clicking "iTunes" under product categories, clicking "iTunes Store", and selecting "Purchases, Billing, and Redemption".

  • "iOS Photos" album missing from Facebook drop down box

I have an iPhone 5S running iOS 7.0.4. I want to post a Photo from the Camera Roll to Facebook. I tap on a Photo in Camera Roll and choose FaceBook. The Album field defaults to one of my existing Albums at the top of the list. When I scrool down through the list the iOS Photos album doesn't appear. Therefore any photo I upload via the Photo App appears on Facebook under a specific Album not Mobile Photos or iOS Photos. How do I get iOS Photos to appear at the top of the drop down box?
    Many Thanks!

*Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Remember passwords for sites"
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    See:

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

  • All my photos are missing in iphoto 4.0.3.

All the photos are missing in my iphoto 4.0.3. The files are on the side under source but the screen also stays blank in every file. What to do?

I had a similar situation with some of my photos, not all of them. During help from a genius at Apple an error occurred and we feared I might have lost my photos. When the problem was "fixed", the photos showed up as being taken the same day and no longer in the original order. In addition numerous photos were gone.
I'm told the photos still exist on the HDD but just can't be found by iPhoto. If this is the case how do I find them? Would I be able to do a search for all jpg files to do this?
On a side note: I've backed up my HDD to an external drive and I'm about to erase my HDD and update Panther to Tiger. When I move the user files back to the HDD I plan on consolidating them into one user.
    Any insight is most appreciated.

  • Photos and photo albums disappeared, but iPhoto library still has 60 GB.

Photos and photo albums disappeared, web gallery titles remain but show (0). iPhoto library still has 60 GB size. How do I retrieve photos, events and albums. Thanks in advance.

Are you getting an "!" in the window when you try to edit a photo. The "!" means that the library has lost the file path to the original file. This happens when there has been an interruption to iPhoto while it is writing to it's database file, Library6.iPhoto. Moving, renaming files or folder inside the library package while in the Finder is another way you can get that indication. Try the three fixes below in order as needed:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select the first three options.
2 - rebuild the library using iPhoto Library Manager as follows:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 -Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 -Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: It may take some time to create the new library if you have a lot of photos. Report back on how long it took and how many photos you have in the library so we can give other users an idea of how long it may take.
3 - start over with a new library and import the Originals folder from your original library as follows:
Creating a new library while preserving the Events from the original library.
Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
Open the library package like this.
Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
Drag the Originals folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open iPhoto window.
This will create a new library with the same Events as the original library if you have the Finder checkbox unchecked in the Events preference pane.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • IPad not displaying more than 44 thumbnails in Facebook photo albums

    Hi All
Whenever I try and view a photo album in Facebook on the iPad it only shows me the 1st 44 thumbnails then after that I just get grey boxes. I can view the photo's if I click on the grey boxes but it is very annoying. It does this whether I use Safari, Graze or any of the 3rd party Facebook apps.
I have just updated to 3.22 and the problem is the same. Any advice welcome.
    Thanks
    David

Other people have experienced similar occurrences. Deleting Safari's cache and history (in settings) may help but the real problems seems to be because of the iPad's limited (256MB) of memory)

  • I photo Albums Missing

This question was not answered actually, but the powers that be seem to have closed the post, since the person who decided that because I find the Albums feature on iphoto to be ridiculous, or not useful at all when trying to upload organized, titled images from iphoto to other programs such as snapfish, flickr or kodak.
I can not drag the album. I can export, but the album is out of order.
So the question remains, is there anyway to view the photo Albums, in the finder to upload elsewhere?
If not, then I do not see how iphoto can be useful for that purpose. (despite the fact that millions use it). To organize photos by roll, yes, by album no.

Your previous posts were in both the iPhoto 5 and 6 forums. Since you refer to Film Rolls I'm guessing you use v6, although you've started this thread in the v5 forum. It is useful for us to know which version you are using, since there are some differences.
So the question remains, is there anyway to view the photo Albums, in the finder to upload elsewhere?
The answer remains, no there is not.
I can not drag the album.
Correct. The album won't drag from the Source Pane to the Finder. Click on the Album, then select the photos. Selected photos will drag and drop to the Finder and some other applications. You can Select All, or Shift-Click to select the first and last photo of a contiguous group, or Command-Click to select non-consecutive photos.
I can export, but the album is out of order.
An easy way to preserve your album order during export is to check the box in the Export Dialog that says "Rename: use Album Name". Let's say you have an album called "Vacation". The Album name option will name each exported file "Vacation - 01" "Vacation - 02" "Vacation - 03" etc. Since the Finder always lists files in alpha-numeric order, they will be correct in the folder of exports. (Remember to create a New Folder for the exported photos so they aren't mixed in with other files.) Then to upload to snapfish, etc., just select that folder. The order will also be preserved whether you copy that folder to a CD, DVD, or other storage media for use in another computer, printing, or even a digital photo frame.
If you had given your photos descriptive titles and can't bear to lose the titles upon export (the above method will NOT preserve iPhoto titles) there is another way. It takes a little more time, depending on the size of your album. With the album in the order you choose, go through the photos one by one and add a number at the beginning of the title. Be sure to pad the title with the correct number of zeros: for up to 99 photos begin with "01 your title" ; and for up to 999 photos begin with "001 your title". When the titles are all numbered, export the album. This time, check the box in the export dialog for "Rename: use Title". Since your titles are now in alpha-numeric order, they will remain in that order in the Finder.
I hope this gives you some of the answers you seek. There are reasons why iPhoto works this way. The most basic reason is that it is a database, and you are not supposed to access your files from the Finder once you import them into the iPhoto Library. In the iPhoto Help file (v6) under a section titled +"About using the iPhoto Library"+ it says:
*IMPORTANT: There is also an "iPhoto Library" folder located in the Pictures folder in your home folder, outside the iPhoto application. If you move, delete, rename, or otherwise touch files or folders within this folder, you may be unable to see your pictures in the iPhoto application.*
    and
*The files within this folder should only be manipulated by a customer care representative.*
By digging into that folder from the Finder, even to upload your photos to a website, you risk damaging your entire iPhoto database. Your photos will be safe, but you could cause iPhoto to forget where they are located. It's best to stay out of that folder completely and access your photos from iPhoto itself.
There is no representation of iPhoto albums in the Finder, because albums exist only inside the iPhoto database file. Your photos are stored based on import date (version 5) or Film rolls (v6 and v7). From v6 Help:
*Your photos aren't actually stored within each album, slideshow, and book; instead, these contain references to the photo files stored in the iPhoto Library folder. This way, you can add the same photo to several different albums, slideshows, books, calendars, or cards without actually duplicating the image file.*
This is what makes iPhoto such a powerful organizer. Albums are completely flexible and use very little disk space whatsoever. You could take a family reunion photo of 20 people, and place it inside an album for each person - without wasting any space. But you can't access your albums from the Finder.
If not, then I do not see how iphoto can be useful for that purpose.
People use iPhoto's different features in numerous different ways. Some people like to use albums to organize their entire libraries. I do not. I like to organize my Library by Film Roll, and my primary choice for viewing is by film rolls. I keep my photos grouped chronologically, with a few exceptions (I have one Roll just for Movie clips). I use the comments section to list the contents of each roll so that I can scroll through my library with the rolls closed and comments showing. That helps me know where to find a particular photo. Just after importing I go through and keyword the new photos. I don't have an album for each member of my family, because I can locate them quickly using the keywords. I don't use chronological albums, because I can use the calendar tool to find photos by date.
For me, albums are useful for special projects. I use them to gather and prepare a group of photos for printing or uploading. I use them when I'm working on a movie, since albums are easy to locate from the Media Pane of iMovie and iDVD. I have a few Smart Albums for collecting the highest rated photos from a specific date (best of birthday, etc). Most of them I save, in case I want to reproduce the project, but sometimes I create an album, export, then delete.
Here's one final example. A relative of mine died suddenly and completely unexpectedly. Prior to her memorial service, I went through my entire library and placed all my photos of her into an album. From there I weeded out the duds, then edited the rest. Some I opened via iPhoto into Photoshop Elements for more "heavy duty" editing, some I just cropped in iPhoto. I printed the album and created a little book to share with her loved ones. Her daughter liked it, so I gave it to her at the service. Since I still have the album, I can easily print out another set of the photos for myself or other family members. That project could have been very difficult, but with iPhoto's tools it only took a few hours, and the bulk of that time was spent editing my photos.
The tools are there. Hopefully as you come to understand how iPhoto works you'll find the way to use it that suits you best.
    Regards.

I have made the mistake to erase all my photo albums from my Imac (I photo). I do still have most albums on my Iphone 3G. Hoiw cvan I move them to Iphoto on the Mac???

You'll need third-party software to do so. The photo sync is one way: Computer to phone. Bear in mind, the resolution of photos synced to your phone was reduced for display on your phone. There is no way to recover their full resolution.

  • All photos album missing

    Hi,
I am using iPhone 5 with iOS 8.0.2. Yesterday I realized that I cant view "All photos album" in Photos app. There are just
the album Recently Added and other default albums. Of course i can list all albums I created, but I cannot view older pictures
that are not in any albums.
For "All photos album" i mean the Camera roll album.

    @tamarafromroseburg
You can access it if you select "Photo" mode in Photos application instead of "Album" mode on the bottom of the app.
But there is a lot to scroll because photos are sort by date...:/
