Facebook photo order

Since upgrading to Photos I have discovered that when I upload multiple photos to a Facebook album they are out of order. Not only that, but when I try to rearrange them in Facebook, it will not allow any of them to be moved around. This is the case when using both the Edit and Tag functions. When I drag a photo from this newly created album it snaps back to its original spot. When I open an older album in Facebook, created with iPhoto, I can rearrange the photos without any problem. Any workarounds for this problem?

I understand and am aware of the compressing that occurs when facebook uploads picture files (and many other types of files). I understand, and am aware of, the amount of image data that is lost as well.
I was, however, unaware of the process by which iphoto sends files "several at a time"
I was also unaware of the stripping of metadata that takes place during a facebook photo upload.
The method by which iphoto sends photos and facebook's stripping of metadata are certainly both contributing factors to the unorganized nature of iphoto facebook uploads.
I do care about my photos. Which is why they are stored in full, original quality on my hard drive. That is also why the full, original files are backed up regularly. I do not rely on facebook for photo storage. In fact, file compression was never my complaint; with respect to diminished image quality. I simply upload pictures to facebook to share them with friends and family.
It is a shame facebook seems not to respect the photos of its users. I understand file compression. I can not blame facebook for wanting to save space. But basic metadata (date/time) should be left alone. I will write to facebook.

Facebook Photo Caption = iPhoto Title

When you change the caption in your iPhoto-uploaded FaceBook photos, it changes the "title" of your photo inside of iPhoto.
It would be nice for this NOT to happen. I usually like to write long captions for my photos in facebook, and I would really not like these to change my "titles" in iPhoto, making them really long! Also, I like to keep the photo in sequential order with the rest of the albums (DSC0001, DSC0002, etc).
Was just throwing this idea out and seeing if anyone else had an issue with this as well

Seriously! I just got the "face recognition" feature to sync up with my facebook tags. Everything looks to make uploading pics a lot easier... But unfortunately, I was bummed to find out that the new iPhoto'09 facebook uploader does not read the captions from each photo and put them on facebook. The only way to do it is to change the "Title" of the picture, which is really annoying because the Titles get too long.
The Facebook-Exporter has this feature. I'm sure Apple can make it work too! APPLE please tweak this feature! We want the Facebook Uploader to sync the photo descriptions/captions.

when you tried to save did facebook ask you permission to access to the camera roll?
if not close and open facebook and try to save a picture and see if it pops with the question.
if it doesn't, goto settings>privacy>photos and see if facebook is added there,
if it's added and not enabled, enable it.
if everything mentioned above fails, do a reset by holding the power and home button until the apple logo appears ignoring the slide the switch off and try again to save it

I Start a New am so frustrated with problems syncing photos on my iPad. I choose which files to sync but get deleted photos in my albums, my photos are in the wrong albums and the weirdest of all- I now have strange graphics and Facebook photos in albums!

I have spent several hours trying to find a solution to the following problems. After syncing my IPad with ITunes, I end up with photos that I previously deleted in my albums, duplicate photos, albums that have wrong pictures in them and weirdest of all, strange graphics and Facebook photos that are not even mine. Right now I hate this thing!
I have scanned the support forums, Googled it, deleted several photo caches, spent days editing my photo files, checked the specific folders I wanted to sync and it seems like it's not syncing, just adding the same photos and strange crap that it already had on it. Oh please help me!

OK....I'm stumped. The message you are seeing is typically there to protect someone from syncing with a different computer/iTunes account. Is there any way anyone else has used your iPad and possibly connected it to their computer?

This sounds more like a Windows question, than a Firefox question. When you say that an image shows up every time you open your computer, do you mean every time you turn on your computer, or every time you start Firefox?

How can I sync the Mac contacts app with my friends Facebook photos?

I have an iPhone 5 and and iPad so I'm not to new to Apple products, however i did just get my first MacBook (I'm in love!) I have a question, is it possible to sync the Mac Contacts app with Facebook so that my friends Facebook photos will show up in the Mac Contacts app like they do on my iPhone or iPad? When I use iMessage on my Mac I would like my friends FB picture to pop up, would someone mind to walk me through this process?

If calendar events are not syncing from the iPhone to iCal on your mac, try Resetting the Sync History as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TA23030
Then enable calendar syncing in iTunes and choose the Merge option on the initial sync.

Can I set "use facebook photo" for contacts by default?

When I edit a contact's photo, I can choose "use facebook photo" from the available options if there is a facebook profile linked to the contact. Is there a way to do this across ALL contacts, without having to edit each of my 300 contacts individually?
The issue I'm having is that old facebook photos from contacts added in iOS 5 are not updating anymore because the old photo stays as the contact's primary photo from the last time it was synced prior to facebook integration.

Automatic refresh of photo order when changing photo titles in iPhoto 9.6

I've just moved from an older version of iPhoto to 9.6.
In the previous version, when you changed the title of a photo (within an event), the sort order of the photos was automatically and immediately updated. In 9.6 it isn't - I have to do View - Sort Photos then select another sort criteria (e.g. date), then do this again for title, to get the photo order to refresh.
Does anyone know if I am I stuck with this new (retrograde) behaviour, or if there's a way to get iPhoto 9.6 to automatically refresh the photo order?
Otherwise, is there a keyboard shortcut for refreshing the photo order, or for changing the view - sort photos criteria?

It will resort if you leave the Event (click All Events button) and then go back. Not a good solution but quicker IMO than using the View ➙ Sort menu method.

Album photo order in Apple TV 2 mobile me galleries = Failure

While the order of my photos in my iPhoto albums is preserved on Apple TV 2 via 'Computers' it is clearly using image file names to sort if you go in via 'Internet>Mobile Me'. This is especially annoying since you can view your albums in order not only on the web but also on the iPhone's 'Gallery' app. Since both the iPhone and the Apple TV 2 use iOS4, one would think that Apple TV 2 would be able to do a simple but very important thing like preserve photo order within albums. One of the major reasons for getting one of these for my dad was so he could easily view baby photos on his tv. It's annoying to watch my baby go from 3 months old to birth to 1 month old in my albums! When friends try to show vacation photos from their albums... well forget it.
It's hard to tell a photo story when all of your photos are completely out of order; which is very much the case if you happen to be combining photos from more than one camera since different cameras will be naming the files with different prefixes.
My only solution so far is to import all photos that will be used in an album into iPhoto, batch change their titles to the 'time and date' they were taken, then export those photos using 'titles as filename' option, then deleting all the photos iPhoto, then reimporting them. That way when they are put onto Mobile Me/Apple TV 2 they will be at least in chronological order. What a complete pain in the ---.
Any other solutions to this problem?

I suspect that you will have to re-edit the metadata to accomplish your goal. As images are copied and moved this is often modified (place/geotag, faces, dates).......... Just a though. You can download the photos and both check it and if necessary change it in iPhoto

Photo order in album gets mixed up after sorting photos

I have created albums from a recent trip, which I am using to make slideshows. To get the photos in the desired order, I first sorted the album by date, then rearranged various photos to put them the way I wanted them. I created one slideshow from that, which worked fine. However, I came back to the original album the next day to make a different slideshow and the photo order has completely changed, into what seems random. They are not in date order, nor in file name order. I am very frustrated since I spent quite a bit of time editing and reordering the photos.
Similarly, if I have sorted an album by date, then use the pull-down menu to switch to manual, the photos again go into what seems like a random order.
Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong?
Relatedly, when I try to change the order of photos in a slideshow by grabbing a photo thumbnail from the top of the window and drag it to the right to put it at the end of the line, the window changes to another full-screen desktop, with iPhoto gone, hidden in another desktop. Even the desktop background has changed, into an old background that I no longer use.

Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

Firefox 34.0.5 can't upload facebook photo

After i update to version firefox 34.0.5 on my window 8.1, i can't upload facebook photo.
No problem on IE, Opera and Google Chrome.
I already update with latest Java and tested ok in Firefox.

First photo order from apple cuts off subjects head

Who is the genius at the Apple developing room who needs to crop a photo so that the subjects head is cut off? Usually when you send a picture into a photo store, they get it right the first time without exercising their creative PHOTOGRAPHER abilities. Why can't the film processors just leave the prints as is when they receive them? Well, I guess I will go elsewhere for my photo orders as the "creative" people there just have to show off their new, exciting film techniques by expanding, editing, cropping, and did I mention that the picture order I did receive looked nothing like what I sent them...UUGGHH!!! Go work at Costco or something...I think that's where I'll try next.

How do I make sure my prints are not cropped incorrectly during processing?
Each print size has its own slightly different rectangular shape, known as the aspect ratio. For example, an 8 x 10 print is proportionately taller and narrower than a 4 x 6 print. To make your image fit these different print shapes, photo labs usually enlarge the image slightly and crop out what doesn't fit.
For the best results, you should crop your images to the same aspect ratio as the print size you are ordering.

Can't move photo order manually

Inside an Event the sort order for "manually" doesn't work. It is fine for the Events order but I can't move a photo order inside an event.

There is no help for this. Events are organised on a strict date and time basis. You can edit the time of the pics (Photos -> Adjust date and time) or, better still, use Albums.
Remember, Albums are much more flexible than events, you can structure them any way you want, and as they simply refer to the files in the Library they take no disk space.
