Facebook places problem ?

I've been trying for a while now but I just can't seem to get facebook places to work for me on my curve 8520.I read somewhere that you have to turn GPS services to Location on from Options > Advanced Options > GPS > GPS Services. But when I enter that option I can't change it.It's stuck on location off.Now does anyone know how to get this to work on this phone model? I know that the phone may not have GPS but I thought Facebook places could still work using cell tower triangulation ? I'd be happy if someone could clear this up for me on what I'm doing wrong.. =/

Facebook Places Torch 9800

So i've seen all the posts about people saying that Facebook Places is not working for them, but i'm not sure what they mean by not working so rather than contributing to a post that is rather vague I thought I would outline very specifically what my problem was and how it relates to my device and see if anyone else is having this problem.

So my problem with Places on the facebook app has to do with how the app seems to be interacting with the API for blackberry maps. When I fire up blackberry maps the torch starts off with the broad 3km range circle as it waits to acquire more satellites. As the satellites are acquired the position narrows in.
How does this relate to Facebook Places? glad you asked.
It seems that when places first fires up it makes the initial request to the BBMaps API and gets the broad 3km range circle and then stops. It never refines the location, so maybe this isn't so much a problem with the facebook app as it is with the Maps API.
No matter how long I wait the initial map locaiton for Facebook Places remains the one that it grabbed from BBMaps when Facebook Places loaded.

It seems like I'm having the same problem as you. I'm using the Torch and I'm on Telus too.
I noticed that the Maps app in my BlackBerry starts off always with the 3 KM range. Facebook Places tries to use that as well.
Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. It's really random.
Have you found a proper fix?

HTML Help window placement problem

Hi -
We just upgraded to R7 from X5. It seems that now, for our
newly generated Help, the HTML Help viewer will not right-align.
Even if I specify the maximum width in the Window Properties
dialog, when generated, the window only extends about 4/5 of the
available screen width and is LEFT aligned.
Our screens are 1024 x 768 and RoboHelp seems to understand
this because if I max out the window size in the Window Properties
dialog, the height shown = 767 and width = 1019.
Is anyone else experiencing this placement problem?

Yes, this is correct on both counts. Because of limitations
in Microsoft's design of HTML Help, you cannot specify the

Facebook Places on my Storm 2

Hi,
I've never been able to connect to FB Places on my BB. When I try to check in I get the message 'Your location is temporarily not available'
In the options bit on the Facebook app the 'Share my location with Facebook' box is greyed out and I cannot click it.
My GPS is turned on and I've tried a lots of forums to help but nothing works!

Just before I start explaining this I thought i'd explain that i've never worked with or used a storm/ storm 2 due to Orange not dealing with it but i'll do what I can.
With certain blackberrys facebook places always have issues, we found a way around this so it's worth a go.
Get another phone (preferably blackberry, but any other with GPS is fine), pair the Storm 2 and the other handset with eachother using bluetooth. Next go to your handsets GPS settings and you should see 'GPS data source', once the handsets are paired you will be able to change the data source to the BLUETOOTH name of the handset you paired with and it will hopefully resolve the issue.
If anyone reads this it is also the way to get the Curve series (which doesn't have GPS) to use facebook places.

Faces and Places Problem

maybe someone could help me (apple telephone support could not):
Faces problem:
I made a smart-album to sort out all the "unnamed faces". But 92 pictures have a strange behaviour. They are tagged as "unnamed" although there is no rectangle in the picture to tag. I've allready used the repair-function and deleted all cache files (telephone support advised me to do both).
Places problem:
another strange thing is places. I've got a few pictures which have more than one "place" tagged. I don't know how this could happen. If you take a look at the screenshot you can see that I made a smart-album with 4 different places (PLACE - IS - XY - AND - PLACE - IS .....) to demonstrate that kind of behaviour

I've noticed that photos I had faces from iPhoto 09 are not syncing (I only had a few).
In the manual list, the faces are not an option to select them. Tried removing and resyncing library and no avail.

Toshiba Places problem connecting to facebook

TV Model 46TL963B connected to sky router using network cable. Have registered with Toshiba places. Trying to connect my facebook account using the email authentication option and it keeps saying problems with server and wont let me connect.

IPhoto - Facebook Faces Problem

I'm having issues with Facebook and iPhoto Faces integration. Here is what is happening: I go through my pictures in iPhoto and tag Faces. Then I upload the pictures through iPhoto to Facebook. But if I've tagged a Face of an individual in iPhoto who does not have a Facebook account, the next time I go back into that event/album in iPhoto, it has automatically retagged that person as "Is this firstname lastname?" where the firstname lastname is the first person (alphabetically) in my iPhoto Faces list. I then have to go back into iPhoto and re-tag those Faces in each event/album I've uploaded to Facebook (again this only affects Faces of individuals who doe not have FB accounts). But, to finalize and correct the problem, I have to go back through each event/album a THIRD time, because now everyone who does not have a FB account who I've re-tagged after uploading to FB, will be tagged as "Is this firstname lastname?" After I've answered yes to each of those suggested Faces it seems to fix the priblem permanently.
Is this an iPhoto bug or a Facebook issue? Does anyone have any suggestion on how to fix this or should I just send feedback to Apple?

I've not seen this reported here so I suspect it is a specific issue with your system - Try renewing your iPhoto preference file -
A good general step for strange issues is to renew the iPhoto preference file - quit iPhoto and go to "your user name" ==> library ==> preferences ==> com.apple.iPhoto.plist and trash it - launch iPhoto which creates a fresh new default preference file and reset any personal preferences you have changed and if you have moved the iPhoto library repoint to it. This may help
This does not affect your photos or any database information (keywords, faces, places, ratings, etc) in any way - they are stored in the iPhoto library - the iPhoto preference file simply controls how iPhoto works - which is why renewing it is a good first step.

Apple Game Centre And Facebook Link Problem!

I don't know how many of you are familiar with the app Treasure Diving! One of the achievements acquired is to link your Facebook page to the game! It's one of the first thing's the game asks you to do! I have done this and my friends on Facebook are in my game friends list so I know it is working! However according to the game centre it isn't linked and I haven't achieved the Facebook link on the achievement list! This is extremely annoying since the game as asked me to complete all the achievements! As part of the game that I have already done, it is so annoying that it hasn't been acknowledged by game centre! Has anyone else had a problem with game centre and the Facebook link? Does anyone know if this issue is being worked on and going to be fixed any time soon?

Verify iOS requirements
Make sure the app is compatible with your iPhone software:

Wi-fi and Facebook photos problem on iOS 6.0.1

I have a MacBook Air and and iPhone 3GS. Over wifi connection strange things happen when I use Facebook. I cannot see images on my timeline from firends and I cannot even see some of my photos. I've tried both secure and unsecure connection through Facebook account settings but nothing changes. Videos on the timeline won't play either. When I switch to 3G on my phone everything is fine. What could be the problem I cannot find out. Until a few weeks ago it was normal. Has anyone else experienced a similar issue?

I thought I believed my iPhone 4 with iOS5.0 would not disconnect during sleep mode. However, I was wrong. What I did was to ping the IP addresses on my iPhone 4 (iOS5) and iPhone 5 (iOS 6 then, and iOS6.0.1 now) when they were in sleep mode. Very true that there were timed-out on both devices. Once I woke them up, ping went thru. I did a scan on my home network using my iPad while the other 2 phones were in sleep mode, I was not able to see them.
I thought my iPhone4 did not disconnect too. But again, I think the reconnecting to wifi on iOS 5 is SO MUCH quicker than on iOS6 so user would think there was never a disconnect.

Places: problem with the State field in Aperture 3.03

I live in Europe and I have some problems in handling the State field in Aperture 3.03, because this field isn't always relevant in non North-American Countries.
The Google suggestions in Places don't always include the 4 fields (Location/City/State/Country). I have a lot of pictures taken in the Azores islands (Portugal) which don't show up in my Aperture map because the marker somehow doesn't write Azores in the State field.
Question #1: is there a way to eliminate the State field from Aperture, or at least to render it optional?
Question #2: if I manually create a New Location, what is the proper syntax to separate Location/City/State/Country in a way that will be understood by the Aperture database? I tried putting commas as a separator, but it doesn't seem to be working.

When I go online with the social network app and want to
refresh my "whats on my mind" message using the "places" function
there is a fail-message saying I can't tell my position.
This was possible before I gave my n8-00 to repair into the nokia shop..

Ok, next question. Where did you download your copy of Opera 10 from. I have just uninstalled mine and downloaded the version from Ovi Store and find that it isn't 10.1 as described but 10.0. To get 10.1 again I needed to go to m.opera.com and download from there.

Facebook sound problem

I have a problem with the sound of the fb app. Whenever i receive a message i get a "click" sound. Sounds for the app are turned off so as notifications. I restarted, logged out but no results.
Even when the ipad is on mute a get a sound when i get a new message on facebook and its really annoying.
Any hints?

Ok so apparently they FIXED it!!
-Go to the facebook app on phone
-Go to Account Settings
-Go to Notifications
-Go to Mobile Push
-Look at the top of the screen and it said "Sound for push notifications"
-Edit it to ON for all notifications
They fixed it I now receive sounds for notifications!!!!!

N97 facebook app problems

I'm currently having problems with my n97 facebook widget. Whenever I try to connect to it it keeps saying "Connection not availiable". I've been browsing the internet using my brother's wireless network for the first time then I've disabled it so I can use my normal vodafone internet and now my facebook widget won't work. Can anyone help?

I am a huge Nokia fan - and have even defended the N97 when it comes to iPhone users bashing it... but you would not believe on how disappointed I am Nokia have done this.
I too did a soft reset (after serious issues like contacts folder locking up and not allowing me to even access it and various other bugs) and now have lost Facebook, Accuweather etc. The phone is being majorly sold on the facebook application - being dubbed 'The Facebook Phone' - and the truth is it obviously cannot be anymore further than that...
After all... Facebook isn't even available in the Ovi Store for it... so how can it be a Facebook Phone?
Wish someone from Nokia would explain PROPERLY what the hell is going on!?
I cannot believe I'm about to say this (after owning several N-Series phones... 73, 93, 95, 95-2)... but maybe I should of got an iPhone?

Facebook Access Problem in Safari and from App

I cannot access Facebook on my ipad from Safari or the App. Each time I try I get an error message that the connection has been lost BUT I have no problem accessing the internet from other apps or other websites from Safari so the problem is specific to facebook.
Stranger still, if I google "Facebook" I have the same problem but have no issues if I google other words (provided Facebook is not included in the text).
Seems like a virus but I understand virus' do not exist on ipads....

Separate each values with TAB space present in the application server .
Currently u r using | pipe character. Instead of that use CL_ABAP_CHAR_UTILITIES=>HORIZONTAL_TAB as delimiter.
Each value will displayed in separate cells in excel sheet when u download it frm app.server
