Facebook Tagging Bug

I noticed that aperture seems to be removing tags that are applied in facebook. i uploaded an album to facebook, i then logged into facebook and went through tagging people in the photos in that album. i then went back into aperture to add more photos to the album and when i went back into facebook to tag the new photos i noticed that after facebook synced for the second time with aperture that half of the tags were removed.
i know for a fact that the people tagged didn't remove the tags so something is clearly screwing up the tags during re-syncs with aperture.
has anyone else noticed this happening to them?

Do you have the people you are tagging on Facebook set up as Faces in Aperture? I'm guessing that if you don't have a person set up as a Face in Aperture, when it syncs with Facebook it says "Hey, I don't know who this person is because they aren't in my Faces database, so I'm just going to ignore them and delete the tag." Try setting up a Face in Aperture for one of the people you are tagging in Facebook (make sure you enter their full name and Facebook associated e-mail address in the Faces info box) and see if that solves the problem when syncing.

  • How do you Confirm a Facebook tag?

    Hey all,
Just wondering how you "confirm" a facebook tag. I'm wonder as I'm trying to not have to go back and manually input an email address for every person i've already got.
    Thanks

Here is a workflow I found to work for me:
STEP 1 - Use FACES to name someone in iPhoto.
STEP 2 - Publish the photo/album to facebook.
STEP 3 - In facebook look at your album. You may notice that the person is tagged in facebook, but the name is not linked. This could be for two reasons. 1) The person is not one of your facebook friends; 2) you need to "link" the relationship between facebook and iPhoto. If the person is, in fact, one of your facebook friends but their name is not "linked" (highlighted in blue -- linked to their profile page) within facebook you should re-tag them in facebook and then delete the original link. Now, go back to your iPhoto album (the facebook album) and click the icon to the right of the album name to "refresh" or "resync" it. It will pull the NEW tag from facebook that you created and understand that it's the same person/name and it will finally start tagging that person correctly from that point forward.
STEP 4 - If you created NEW tags for people in facebook you may notice that they appear in your iPhoto ablums with the NAME of the person and a "f" blue facebook icon next to it. Simply click the "f" facebook icon to accept this tag as being correct. This will also link iPhoto's database listing for that person with facebook's so you should have correct links moving forward.

  • Syncing faces with facebook tags

    Hi,
I have a library of photos that I have gone through and organised with the faces feature. I have linked my facebook account with iPhoto and have selected the relevant facebook profile for each face instead of the profile from my contacts. Regardless of what I seem to do, however, I can't make these tags show up on facebook when I upload an album. What I mean is when I upload an album, the correct name appears as a tag on the photo however it is not linked to the appropriate profile (its just grey text as oppose to a link). I have tried everything concievable including adding facebook emails to the faces info tab but nothing seems to work.
Thanks in advance for your help!

I've the same problem (and we aren't alone - see the other question), I rellay think it is an Aperture bug I sent all night yesterday trying to save my faces (I cannot retag 8000 photos).
There is no way to stop tagging the pictures in facebook...
    To save your faces db:
Go to prefereces-> web and delete the facebook account and then empty the trash...
    You will save your faces.
Then you can recreate the facebook account without opening the albums (if you don't open the photo are not downloaded and so you avoid the tagging); in that way you can post new albums witout problem and reset again (it is very quick) if the problem reapper..

  • ITunes 6.0.4 Lossless to MP3 Convert Bad ID3 Tag Bug (Intel Only?)

    Hello all,
I usually rip my CDs to Apple Lossless, name it the way I want, include Album Artwork, then switch rip preference to MP3 (224kbps), highlight the lossless files and choose "Convert Selection to MP3" in the Advanced menu. I do this to save the time of having to rip things twice.
Up through 6.0.3 it created proper ID3 tags with the album artwork just fine, but upgrading to 6.0.4 (Intel - I haven't verified this with my G4 Powerbook running 6.0.4) I do my usual process, the information is in the iTunes window, matching the Lossless files, but as soon as I delete the items from iTunes (but not the files themselves) and drag the MP3 files back to iTunes, the tracks show up in iTunes without ANY of the ID3 info, but WITH the album artwork.
The name lists the filename in the Song Name field as if there weren't any ID3 info.
The reason this came up is I rip to one drive, but keep the MP3s on another drive.
Anyone else out there with this problem/can verify this problem?
    Thanks!

There have been a lot of recent posts about tags not being updated properly in iTunes, and I am starting to think that it's a bug.
In your case, you might want to consider using Max to rip and encode. You can configure the application to rip your CDs and encode to multiple formats at once, using any of the iTunes encoders plus about twenty others, including LAME MP3. The tag information will remain intact, and the output files can be directly added to your iTunes library if desired.
Also, you may want to try Max's file encoding function for Apple Lossless files you already have stored on your HDD. You can batch encode them to MP3, keeping the tags and album art.

  • Conditional Build Tags Bug

I have several problems with RoboHelp9. I am using Windows7 and 64bit. This is the one causing the most trouble.
Conditional build tags apply themselves unwanted and unassigned.
The deletion of conditional build tags at the topic properties tag (right side window) does not work.
I have to repeatedly go back and forth to the dialog and keep selecting and deleting.
Some of the conditional build tags go clear, most don't.
I go into the topic directly in the wysiwyg view and manually try to select and delete them, and they delete only with difficulty.
After running through a long topic and using every method available to clear conditional build tags, I saved the project, then went in to manually apply cbtags, of which I am only using two.
After applying them, and switching to the html window to adjust image sizes manually (because thru the wysiwyg interface the process takes too long), I find that the conditional build tag I applied to several tables and texts at the top of my topic have now applied themselves unasked to a number of the texts and even tables which I had cleared of all cbtags.
I have just about had it with this program.
This is only one of the many problems and bugs I have found and been trying to work around.
I suppose that the solution to my problem is to not use conditional build tags at all, but I am working with about five years' worth of legacy technical documents that have all been upgraded to RH9 and as I am looking at them to make the standard revisions, I am noticing this phenomenon of wrongly applied cbtags in other projects.
I would rate this as a bug of very high and critical importance.
Has anyone seen this under the consitions stated? (RH9, upgraded RH7 projects, Windows7, 64bit).

Sorry, I should have said see the Announcements.

  • Publishing pictures to Facebook - 'tagging' problems

Whenever I upload any pictures to Facebook, Faces does tag people however it does not link them to their Facebook profile.
I have tried using full names which match their profile name, however it still doesn't work.
Is anyone else having this problem??

    definitely not good enough
iPhoto knows your username on facebook and your password. It should access your friends list as 'exporter for iPhoto does'. See the feedback I left for apple at: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html
I am disappointed with the 'faces' integration with facebook in iPhoto 09.
I have been using 'Facebook exporter for iPhoto' (http://developers.facebook.com/iphoto/) for some months now, and use of 'faces' could learn a lot from it.
The flaw is this- I don't know my friends' email addresses, which facebook integration seems to require in order to tag them properly on facebook. The above exporter plugin fetches your contacts from facebook and suggests them using the same familliar javascript window we're used to when tagging on the facebook website itself, so I know that the API allows it.
Unless this is improved, people will just see 'faces' as a gimmick and not as the time-saving and functional resource which it could be. Automatically recognising your friends' faces and then uploading the pictures to facebook as proper tags which generate notifications and are click-able screams 'it just works' a ** of a lot more than having to tag all your photos once for your computer and once again for your Facebook album.
Please feel free to contact me if you require any further information.

  • Nasty ID3V2 tag bug

This is for any of the Apple team. I discovered a pretty bad ID3V2 bug in iTunes for Windows, 6.0.4.2.
It has to do with the way the frame data length is encoded, or rather, in this case, not encoded. The result is that any tag data>127 bytes in length will likely break the entire tag.
The length of the data for a 2.4 version tag is the first 4 bytes after the ID field(TPE1, TIT1, etc). These bytes are syncsafe, meaning that the highest bit is always 0. So each byte actually encodes 7 bits. I had a frame that was 467 bytes in length. Its length was stored as "0x01d3". That equals 467. But it is supposed to be sync-safed, so it should actually be 0x0363. As a result, 0x01d3 actually decodes to only 211 bytes. When a tag parser jumps 211 to what should be the next tag, t'aint nothing there! So all subsequent frames are then lost.
This can get pretty nasty on Unicode tags which can then only store 64 characters before it breaks things.
iTunes and presumably the iPod and any other Apple supplied tools will probably read that data correctly as I am assuming they use a common library. But...it will break any third party tools. Not good.
    Mac Mini   Windows XP Pro

This is quite possibly the most annoying iTunes/iPod bug, and it's still kicking around in the latest iTunes version.
Note that all ID3v2 frames found in the tag prior to a frame with length greater than 127 bytes are read just fine. Once iTunes hits the syncsafe integer it gets lost.
ID3v2 frames can appear in the tag in any order. This means if you have a tag editor that lets you specify the order the frames appear in the ID3v2 tag and set it to put all frames which are "most likely" to be larger than 127 bytes (e.g. APIC, TIPL, TMCL), you can at least get iTunes/iPod to recognize a larger subset of the information. But granted, as you stated, that doesn't really help the unicode case.

  • Face Tagging bug report

Bug report: when using the Face Tagging function if the collection of images to search includes images that are too large ('File size is too large' icon), Elements crashes.

    Fred,
Thanks for posting that its good to share such discoveries. You could also send the bug report directly to Adobe, since they dont guarantee to pay attention to these forums (though there are a number of employees or contractors who do post here frequently without attribution). • Facebook tagging issues

Before I start I have read what feels like everything and so far nothing seems to really solve the problem.
I am trying to move from LR to Aperture and have my main library. Running on a Mac so contacts and Mavericks is all synced up with Facebook etc...
In my main library I have a number of people that are tagged and these pass over to Facebook with a hyperlink to the person. However there are a number that don't and just get the 'greyed out' tag but this doesn't show on their profile.
I created a new library, imported a bunch of images and proceeded to tag them using the same tags that are automatically prompted. Out of 3 people that don't work on the main library, 2 now have tags with hyperlinks, but 1 still doesn't.
This is driving me round the bend as I have a whole project to start but can't get this working consistently enough, and it's now making me wonder about whether Aperture is worth it - I'm really after the organising and sharing elements.
Any thoughts, advice etc would be welcome.

    Ok, thanks.
I think the issues I have are only with people whose faces I tagged in iPhoto before I linked to facebook...
Ill try contacting facebook and see if they can help. Will post any solution I get here for others.

  • Facebook Tags not appearing

I have synced my Facebook account with iPhoto and can view my various albums, however, tags do not appear. I have quit and restarted iPhoto. I have removed and reactivated my Facebook account. Nothing seems to fix it. I have verified that the album has finished syncing. Facebook comments and likes appear....no tags.

I tried it and doesn't work properly. I've tried to tag my brother's picture and upload it to facebook. When I started to writhe his name, it appeared there again 2x. The first is from my address book showing also his mail address (which he also use for facebook) and second is his name with the icon of facebook without any address. I've chosen the first one (from address book) and it worked on facebook well, however, why he appeared two times there?
I did screenshot and uploaded, so you can check it here:

  • Facebook tags in uploaded album not linked to profile

I saw a lot of threads on this subject but nothing really solved my problem. Also they all seem rather out-dated, so maybe there are some new tricks I don't know of.
I spent hours over hours tagging faces in iPhoto after syncing my facebook account, and when I was finally done, decided to upload to a Facebook album.
90% of the faces, including mine and my wife's, appeared as tags that are not linked to profiles (font is black and you can't link them back to the profile).
    Things I tried:
    1. Manually making sure the e-mail field in each face is "<facebook_user_id>@facebook.com"
    2. Manually tagging a photo in facebook, importing it back to the library, merging the created Facebook face with the other face.
    3. Importing a different Facebook album with tags for most faces I need to the library, merging Facebook faces with non-FB faces.
And all of this didn't help.
I think it might help for future photos I'll upload, but existing ones stay the same.
I really don't want to re-upload the photos (because some people already liked and commented on them), or to re-tag everything (because I spent hours doing so already).
This is so annoying, it makes the whole faces feature + facebook integration on iPhoto pretty much worthless.
Any ideas whatsoever of how I can workaround this issue?

Have you reimported your media following a crash and are the affected tracks in .wav format? These don't carry a tag and on reimport all iTunes picks up is the file name. If you have an older library file that you can restore I have a tool to reconnect the library to the tracks that will have been relocated. Or if everything is on your classic you could try one of the tools in Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

  • JDev903 custom tag (bug?)-JDev Team please respond

JDeveloper is continually hanging while working with custom tags. For example, I will select Add Tag and nothing will happen and JDeveloper stops responding. If I go to End Task, I am told that JDeveloper is waiting for a response, but by then JDev is just a gray window. This behavior becomes more frequent after a change, i.e. change a tag name, try to delete a tag or library. In fact, I have had to completely start over in the creation of a tag library when I notice a necessary change within a tag due to the hanging and disappearance of menu items. Please see previous post, Re: 10.1.3.1 xpath-functions.xml
Please look into this issue. Our team feels that custom tags could be a valuable tool, but we are RAPID and we don't have time to constantly shut-down and restart our IDE.
    Thanks,
    Deb

    David,
One thing to try would be JPublisher from the command line. If your problem persists with JPublisher from the command line, then the bug needs to be filed against that product. If not, then the problem is with us.
In either case, please post your code so we can try to reproduce the error.
The JPublisher command line facility is documented in the JPublisher User's Guide, available from the Oracle8i 8.1.6 documentation pages on OTN.
    Thanks!

  • Video geo-tagging bug?

    Hi everybody,
today, while i was updating my iPhoto's library, i discovered that all my video (made by an iPhone 4) have a geo-tag in the South African Ocean. Ok, this is impossible, of course it is an error... but why did it happen? All my video, not 1 or 2.. I think this is a bug.
Does anybody have this problem, too?

Red Hen is a weird outfit. It's great software but weird. I have seen nothing similar for Quicktime.
We have a few copies of Red Hen's products in our environmental group. The GPS data is encoded onto an audio track as noise pulses and recovered by the software during viewing. It can then be superimposed over the video and burned in or used as a reference track. However, it's an audio track, not a streaming database so the map has to be synced to the video and you will probably do that by hand. That is, I know of no way to play a Red Hen-encoded video file and have a mapping application read the data in real time. Although, come to think of it, the data from the video should look just like a stream of GPS coordinates as far as the mapping software is concerned.
Sorry not to have any useful information for you. Please come back and close the thread if you figure something out. We'd all like to know how you solve this. With geotagging common on consumer still images, you'd think somebody would have a user friendly video-based system.

  • Iphoto and Facebook tagging (or retagging)

I've tagged about 1200 photos as Charlotte Rose but her Facebook name is Charlotte Smith. Is there anything I can do on my end to link them up when i post them on Facebook?

How do i edit photos and such without them going to facebook???
    You do not
That is how the iPhoto/FaceBook works - if you do not want your face book albums linked to iPhoto, then export the photos and upload them to FaceBook directly via the web upload
One of the major features of the iPhoto/FaceBook interface is two way syncing of albums
