Facebook Upload Problems

Using iPhoto 09, have used the facebook upload function without issue until recently. It will now not upload all of the photos I select for the album. I select the same 9 photos, and each time I try a different number of photos are uploaded. Sometimes, 1, 2 or 4, no more than that. Any help with this issue? Thanks.

Me too. It's worked fine in the past but last night I tried to upload 55 photos (from the same Event) to a FB album but it would only upload 27. I deleted the FB album and re-tried about 3 times but it only ever uploaded 27.
Curiously, I quit iPhoto, restarted it, deleted the FB album, and uploaded again. This time it did 29.
iPhoto seems to think it has uploaded all 55 because if I select the FB Album in the sidebar it reports 55 photos, but if I do Check Now, it comes down to 27 (or 29) - could this actually be a FB problem?

  • IPhoto '09 Facebook upload problem

I have been uploading photos using iPhoto '09 to my Facebook account for years.  Just a couple of days ago I started receiving a message box "Do you want to set up iPhoto to publish to Facebook?" when I click on the Facebook icon.  If I go ahead with the button "Setup" it opens another small box that is simply my Facebook page.  So, it is logged in but the page is useless as I cannot configure anything with respect to iPhoto.  I have logged out and tried setup again but that does not work.  I also went as far as to download the Facebook uploader plugin that works via the Export function.  This partially works but my photos are not viewable by my friends even though it says they should be.  Does anyone know why the Facebook upload function stopped working all of a sudden and how to fix it?  I am using iPhoto '09 version 8.1.2 (424).  Thanks.

Thanks Larry.  I found the discussion your were referrring to and it worked!  I will paste it below in case someone else needs it.
Just solved it here after an hour+ of experimenting.
    Try this:
    • When you get prompted "Do you want to set up iPhoto of post to Facebook?" confirm and it will bring up your regular Facebook home page in a small viewer window.
    • Go up to the upper right corner of the Facebook page and log out, then hit the "Close" button at the bottom of the small viewer window.
    • You'll probably get the same "Do you want to set up iPhoto to publish to Facebook?" prompt again. This time hit Cancel
    • Now try to share your pictures to Facebook again.  You'll get the "Do you want to set up iPhoto to publish to Facebook?" message again. Do it and this time hopefully you should get a prompt to login to your Facebook account. Enter your Facebook name and password. This should reset your connection.
    • If successful you should get a prompt from Facebook that you can close the page. Close it and fingers crossed, all should work again. That's what worked for me.
    Good luck.

  • Facebook upload problem

I was uploading photos yesterday to Facebook and they all seemed to upload.  Today I still have the upload icon and the status is Facebook upload 19 or 23 and 0%.  Any suggestions on how to get rid of this?

Hi lnasc81! I have a suggestion for that icon issue you've described. Try a simple soft reset on your Incredible. While the phone is on, remove the battery from the back. Keep the battery off for 30 seconds, and then re-attach it and turn the device on.

  • Facebook uploader problems with Snow leopard

When I attempt to add photos in facebook the uploader appears but only a jpg icon shows in the frames - no pictures. before installing Snow leopard I use to get a request for facebook to use a java applet. I would say yes and the pics would load perfectly. I do not get the message with Snow Leopard. Any ideas?

    HI,
Try this... In the Add More photos window, underneath that window look where it says: Try the Simple Uploader just under the word Cancel. It's much easier to use with Facebook on Safari.

  • Foto upload problem to facebook, ipernity, flickr

I have a really strange problem when I try to upload fotos to Facebook, ipernity, flickr and other foto sites.
when I upload a Foto from my camera Sony DSC-HX5V, then the foto is destroying while uploading. After the upload I see a foto but only the upper half side is ok, the rest is grey or has some parts of the foto but on the wrong place. (see example)
This effect I have in ipernity and flickr.
on Facebook the upload process never ends, when I try it with the same foto 5-10 times, sometimes the upload is finnishing and then the foto on my facebook page is ok.
Here is the original Foto of this example:
I have tried a lot of things:
upload in different browsers with all the different uploaders from ipernity, flicker, facebook
upload with different upload tools from ipernity, flicker
upload direct from iphoto to ipernity or facebook
I have tried different formats: jpg, png, tiff
different resolutions, also with the original files from the camera
in google and apple support community I didn't find something like this
The problem must be on my Macbook Air, when I copy the fotos to a USB stick and upload it on my old windwos computer, everything work normally!
I have now OS X Mountain Lion an I thought that this upgrade possibly solve my problem but it isn't...
Is anybody outhere who knows such a strange problem?
    Thank you

I should be more specific.  If I take a picture with the mini and upload it to Facebook before saving it to the mini, the picture will upload.  If the picture gets put into the camera roll and I try to upload it to Facebook later, it will NOT upload.  Is there a setting that I need to change maybe?

  • IPhoto 09 facebook uploader application generic error

when I hit the facebook uploader button on the bottom of the screen the pop down that says "do you want to set up iphoto to publish to facebook?" appears and I click the "setup" button and a second popup appears with a login page, I input my facebook email/username and my password and hit login...
then it loads a page that reads, "An error may have occurred as part of the login process. You can close this window and try returning to the application, though it may ask you to login again. This is likely due to a bug in the application."
I've tried repairing my keychain, blocking and then unblocking the app via facebook, nuking various plist files. I haven't found a solution and haven't seen mention of a similar problem on the web. HELP!

Sounds like a temporary FaceBook issue to me with several totally new reports popping up all at once - try again later - or in the morning

  • IPhoto + Facebook uploader

Has anyone seen/solved this problem? When I try to upload photos using the Facebook uploader, it uploads one photo and then stops uploading the rest of the photos, saying "An unknown error has occurred."
Is something wrong with my photos? My iPhoto? Facebook?
None of my other friends have this problem. I redownloaded the facebook uploader to see if I can fix it with that, but it's still there.
    This is iPhoto '08 version 7.1.3 (364)

  • Moving Master Images after Facebook Upload

I'm using a fully updated version of Aperture 3 and ran into a problem today moving master images that I have not experienced before.  My normal workflow is to batch import images from my camera every few days in one large import, so I often have multiple subjects in every batch.  For my 9 months with the program I have always downloaded everything into a temporary holding project I literally call "Hold".  When I get the time to do a detailed review, I then delete what I don't want and move (drag) the master images I want to keep from "Hold" into other subject-matter-unique projects across the library.  This works for me and has worked flawlessly until today when I downloaded about 20 images.  What I did differently today was I took things out of my usual order and decided to quickly upload 3 of the images from the "Hold" folder to Facebook using the Aperture Uploader.  The upload went fine, as it has in the past, but the problem surfaced when I then tried to move all the master images out of "Hold" to my permanent library file (project) structure.  The 17 images (which were not uploaded to Facebook) moved out to their new projects just fine, as always, but the 3 masters which were the source for the Facebook upload will not allow themselves to be moved out of "Hold".  When I drag them to the intended project, Aperture copies them into that project, but the original stays in "Hold."  Of course, if I try to then delete what is in "Hold" (with a copy safely filed away elsewhere in the Library) I get the warning that I am attempting to delete a master upon which other versions are dependent (to include "Facebook albums" it says), and all will be deleted.
My take on this is the Facebook upload from "Hold", and the resulting versions created in the Facebook album (far bottom entries on the Library listing), now make "Hold" a permanent home for those associated master images.  Is there some way to get around this and actually move the master images to where I want them to be AND to de-clutter the "Hold" folder?  Or does this mean any use of Aperture's very handy (at least to date) Facebook uploader permanently glues a master to whatever project it was in when it was uploaded, never to fully and completely move again?  Thanks.

I just made a test of this, and can confirm the apparent behavior.  However, I examined the Masters folder in the Package of the Library (and I have a Managed Library) and I believe there may be some referencing between Projects taking place.  The same appears to result where you have created a slideshow.  In the Facebook album and in the Slideshow album, the file info reports the master file name -- in my case the xxxx.NEF file, which clearly none of them really are, but rather some version.
I will try to do a more precise test where I can measure the size of the Masters folder to see if the "Move" adds to its size by an amount equal to the size of the Master file.
    Interesting!

  • Aperture Facebook Uploader: Both Master and Version

I've searched the forums and see that others had this problem fixed with 3.1.1; but I'm running 3.1.2 and if I edit, crop and otherwise enhance and make a new version and make that version the stack pick, the uploader insists on uploading both (or multiple) master and versions to Facebook. I have to de-stack the images and delete from facebook, and this then reflects in my project/album.
What the heck? I should be able to upload one version. And if I choose to delete and unstack, why does it reflect in the master database?

I don't think Facebook is retaining all the Metadata from images uploaded by any means. However, it's definitely retaining the Version Name - And this is what serves as the caption for the photo in the photo album on Facebook.
Since updating Aperture to 3.1.1, I no longer get the entire 'stack' or multiple versions of the image uploaded. So the software update for Aperture HAS fixed this issue.
However, I have now noticed another issue since starting to use the Aperture uploader. I have about 10 albums/galleries on Facebook. All of these were created prior to the Aperture 3.0 release with the integrated Facebook uploader.
Now when I upload an image and subsequently Aperture accesses my Facebook photo albums, it begins to sync these photos and albums. The Facebook directory that you can see at the bottom of the Library now lists those albums that exist on Facebook and begins to sync those photos. However, when I browse photos by 'date' all those Facebook photos from those albums appear in my Library with the date listed as the date I first viewed them.
So if I click on one of the Facebook albums in Aperture, let Aperture go through its sync process, then review library "photos" and sort by date, all the Facebook photos I have looked at appear as the most current photos.
this is not a good thing because I have Albums, Projects etc. that are sync'd with iPhone or Apple TV that include date filters (projects in last month, photos last week etc.) Now all these legacy Facebook photos are appearing on these other devices.

  • Aperture & Facebook Uploader - No Version nor Metadata

So I'm simply trying to upload a single image to Facebook in Aperture 3.1 via the integrated Facebook uploader. I've edited, cropped and applied metadata (caption, keywords, title etc.) to the photo. Select the version and upload.
The Master Image AND the Version is uploaded and the default filename is used as the caption. Should be simple enough to select a 'VERSION' and when uploaded only the Version should upload and, of course, the caption should be in place.
What's up Aperture? Why won't you upload the actual photo I've selected? And please include the metadata!
Anyone else experiencing this problem. Any ideas?

  • Uploading problems with Safari 4.1.3 -

Hello, I just thought this was a funny question to ask -
On my PowerPC G5 tower, running OS 10.4.11, and my question is in regards to Safari version 4.1.3 uploading problems for facebook and youtube... I always have to use FireFox version 3.6.13... and not without trouble either.
I get it.  I need a new computer, but I just thought it fascinating why one works 90% of the time and the other never works.

Firefox is way more upto date than Safari in 10.4.11, but TenFourFox is the most up to date browser for our PPCs, they even have G4 & G5 optimized versions...

Also I think they Require Flash &/or Java, which may be a problem in 10.4

  • Need a fix for Muse upload problems to GoDaddy????  I found one!

GoDaddy now has a new cpanel named "Plesk".  In that panel you will find File Manager.  (I use the Windows version).  In the left panel of File Manager, you will see the root directory and all of its subfolders.  When you click on any of these folders, you will see their contents in the right panel.  You will also see a folder labelled "httpdocs".  This is the default folder that is set up in GoDaddy to be your "home" folder.  So, to fix your upload problems, do these steps:
    1.  Click on the httpdocs folder to see it open in the right panel.  In the toolbar above the right panel, you will see a green plus sign with the word "New".  Click on this drop-down menu.
    2.  Choose "directory"
    3.  Type in the name of one of the folders that your site will need, e.g. images, css, assets, scripts, etc.  This basically creates a subfolder within the httpdocs folder, right?  (There is a way to see how your Muse site sets up these folders prior to publish or upload.  You do this by choosing "Export as HTML" in the File menu of Muse, creating a folder on your desktop (or wherever) for the HTML export, then inspecting its contents after your save it.)
    4.  Continue to create all the subfolders within httpdocs that you will need.  Unfortunately, you have to do this one folder at a time.
    5.  After you have them set up, begin the process of uploading your site, like this:
    6.  In the File menu in Muse, you'll of course see "Upload to FTP Host ...".  Click on it.
    7.  A dialog box will open.  In the top text field, type in your website name ... you must use www. with your entry
    8.  In the "FTP Host" field, type in your domain name again like this ... "ftp.yourdomain.com" ... NO FORWARD SLASHES!!! (even if you find instructions to the contrary, like in Filezilla)  (Also, your domain might be a .org or .net, instead of a .com)
    9.  In the "Host directory" field, YOU MUST ENTER "httpdocs"!!!!  Despite what you learn, DO NOT LEAVE THIS FIELD BLANK!!!
    10.  Then enter your GoDaddy username and password.  (If you set up a different username for your GoDaddy account and your Plesk account, like I did, then use your Plesk username and password.)
    11.  Click on "Upload:  All Files"
The next few steps are tedious, but necessary to keep your site organized on GoDaddy and to keep from confusing things.  You can probably get away with it, but, if your site doesn't load properly in a browser after doing the above steps, you'll need to click on each folder in the root directory that you copied as a subfolder in the "httpdocs" folder and delete the files.  For example, in the left panel of File Manager, you'll see the root directory.  Click on the "images" folder.  If there are any images that you need for your site in that folder, delete them.  Remember ... you've already copied them over to the images subfolder in httpdocs during your last upload described in the instructions above.  If you don't trust that you can delete them, click on the "httpdocs" folder, then click on the "images" folder and check the files.  Same files, right?  So, go ahead and delete the site files that you find in the appropriate folders in the root directory, making sure that you don't delete the ones that are NOT duplicated within the "httpdocs" folder.  Also remember that your .html pages will not require a subfolder to be set up in the "httpsdocs" folder.  They can just sit there, looking pretty.  But you will have to delete them from the root directory to keep things tidy.  Just click on the folder icon next to "root directory", and you'll see those html pages in the right panel.  Again, delete them.
REMEMBER:  To keep your Muse uploads to your GoDaddy site error free, you must ALWAYS make sure that "httpdocs" appears in the "Host directory" field in the "Upload to FTP Host ..." dialog box in Muse.  And all files and folders that your site needs MUST go in the "httpdocs" folder in the root directory of your site in GoDaddy's File Manager (now found in your Plesk Panel).
I hope this wasn't too confusing.  If so, call GoDaddy.  I called them with this fix and they are using it in their phone support.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I was going out of my mind. And GoDaddy was no help (although they're usually really good.) I put all the folders in "httpdocs" and the website worked perfectly!

  • FaceBook Upload Feature uploads video as a photo still

    Hi all.
Maybe this has already been widely discussed, but I've only recently upgraded to the latest iPhoto with the direct FaceBook upload button/feature.
When I try to *upload a video clip shot* with my iPhone from my album/events, it *ended up as a photo still* on my FB page. Is this a bug or a restriction?
    Thanks and cheers

Dragging the video directly to the Desktop has the same effect.
    Correct. That's why I said
Select the video in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export *Kind: Original* and export to the desktop.
When you import a video iPhoto grabs the first frame as a preview and this goes into the Modified folder inside the Library. So, if you drag it to the desktop that's what you get - this preview. You need to export it.

  • A different uploading problem

I have read through the discussions and see that a lot of people are having an uploading problem. I am too, but my problem is a little different. When I upload my photos, everything seems to be fine, all the pages turn from blue to red, and it appears to be done. But, if I quit iWeb, it says it hasn't finished uploading. When I go to the site on the web, everything is there. So, it seems to not be finalizing the last little part where it marks the files as uploaded.
    I am using iWeb 1.1.1.
I have tried deleting the files from my iDisk and uploading again.
    I have repaired permissions.
I have deleted the file com.apple.iWeb.plist
It's not that I'm trying to quit too soon, I have left it for hours, even overnight, and it doesn't complete.
There's a small circle to the right of the word site that fills in to show progress as it's finishing, and that gets to the point where there's only a small sliver of white.
Any ideas? Thanks for the help!
