Facebook won't completely un-install! Arrrrgh! (mini Facebook icon at top of screen?)

Hey there,
I received a hand-me-down phone from my mom, and she was an avid Facebook user. I've deleted the Facebook app from the application menu and re-started the phone, but I can't get rid of the tiny Facebook icon at the very top of the screen that shows the number of Facebook messages (next to the SMS and Voicemail icons).
How do I completely wipe Facebook off my device? Please help! Thanks!

After your initial post I successfully updates my FB on my iPad and iPhone to 6.5.
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Go to Settings>iTunes and App stores and sign out and sign back in
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. Make sure your iTunes library has 6.5. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

Greetings, and welcome to the BlackBerry.com Community Support Forums.
Scroll to the Facebook icon, don't click on it, but scroll to it.
Press the Menu key > Move to Folder > Homescreen.
Now, on your homescreen, scroll to it again > Menu key > Move and scroll it up to where you WANT it to reside on the homescreen and click on it to put it there.

  • Itunes won't complete installing?

My itunes won't complete the install process? please help

I tried turning off my anti-virus to no avail. I really have no idea what are they are talking about with "Tools-Downloads" The only place you can do anything is under Help-Check for Updates, and I assumed that was the same thing.
I also tried to email Apple but they need the serial number of my Itunes. How do you find that? I didn't even know Itunes had a serial number.

  • IMac won't complete restart after upgrade to 10.5.6

I recently ran Mac OS upgrade 10.5.6, but iMac won't complete restart. After the apple appears, script appears across screen and a box appears in the middle telling me to restart my computer by "holding power button until shut down, then press on/off button again to restart. Any suggestions to try before taking machine to Apple Store?

Thank you everyone. The correct answer was a kernel panic, and although the resolve kernel panic links above did not offer a successful solution, it was a correct diagnosis. Following the Apple Troubleshooting steps allowed me to determine that a faulty third party keyboard was the cause. Restarting with shift, restarting with 'x,' and restarting with ctrl-option-r-p did not solve the issue. Unplugging the keyboard and restarting did identify the keyboard as the culprit. Thank you all for your help.

  • While using FF Browser, a window appeared, telling me I had an outdated version and should upgrade and it won't complete install nor allow me to uninstall to re

First of all, I have Windows XP/HE/SP3 and my main browser is IE8, tho i also have Google and did have, FF V#21. And while using the FF browser, was alerted that my current version was outdated, etc, even tho I just installed V#21 only 1 week ago, but I took FF's word for it and clicked (x'd) to install the upgrade. The application (AP) used to install was called "Optimum Installer" and had the word "Firefox" in smaller print in the upper left hand corner. This seemed diff from the AP i had used to install just 1 week prior, but since i was using IE8 to install FFV#21 originally, I figured the FF browser used this "Optimum" AP, so I proceeded. The small window then said, "you have chosen to open this file" and yet there was no option to "open" only to "save" or cancel. So i x'd on "save" and my Norton file checker popped up to tell me this file is "safe." But afterwards no install window appeared, so i tried to DL the file again and still no Install window after a total of 8 attempts. I finally found the setup file in "my documents" and opened it and x'd to install. It seemed to work ok, tho again, I was asked alot of questions about making thus and such my default browser, or search engine, or home page, etc, and even some other, but i declined them all, i think, but not sure about one possible miscue. Anyways, the AP told me I'd successfully installed this newer version of FF. So of course i wanted to open it and see how it would work, and i went to my task bar/notification tray to X on the globe icon and instead it showed a "setup" icon. I put my mouse under it and it said "Mozilla Firefox" so i went ahead and x'd on it expecting FF to open. Instead, a small warning appeared telling me i had to reboot for the install..to be completed, so i did, but no change. Tried atleast half a dozen times and nothing, no new or any, version of FF working on my pc now. I even tried to look at support, but no answers, then tried to uninstall and it won't even let me do that, it keeps saying that "your computer must first be restarted to complete a previous upgrade"; yet that already hasn't been working. Also, i went from a V#21 to a V#13.0.1 with 77MB+ of space, which is way more than FF#21. Now I do believe this version is corrupt and really don't want it, but can't get rid of it. I even tried to reinstall V21 (also from IE8, since I don't even have FF browser now) and it goes to a point, but then also tells me I can't get this V21 til I complete an install/upgrade of another version. So basically, i have what i believe is a corrupt/malicious piece of software on my pc, calling itself Mozilla V#13.0.1 - which I can't get rid of, and also can't reinstall the version I had, least i finish installing the one i have but don't think I now want. Keep in mind also, I can't do any of the suggestions from within the FF browser that have been suggested, because I don't have it any more, only IE8 and Google....Any suggestions?

Dear Colbabomb; thankyou for your links.
So far, I looked at your first solution, Revo Uninstaller and it gives you a 30 free trial. Ergo, it will eventually cost money so I'm leery of using those kinds of programs in general, meaning most "free trials" have unwanted strings attached and often are big probs to get rid of later. Perhaps you can assure me that it is easy and very user friendly, before I proceed. And I already ran malwarebytes and it found nothing tho the program still can't be uninstalled. I downloaded Adw Cleaner and during the install, my Norton's security popped up and warned that there were (low risk) threats with two of their "other offers" and i hadn't even actually clicked to agree either of them. Nonetheless, Norton warned me against the "lyrics finder" and "deal ply." In fact, there was a box already with an x in it, saying that you are accepting deal ply if you x on "next." Well, except I unchecked that box before clicking on next, yet when it went to fully install, it still showed that it was adding itself; so, just before the install was 100% completed, I had to abort the whole thing. I really do hope your other suggestions are programs that you personally know that they don't try and trick you. But right now, I would not suggest Adw Cleaner to anyone. I even read the fine print about what they will try and install and how to decline and it still tried sticking stuff on that i believed I had declined. Anyways, i have to leave now, shall pick up later this evening, if my pc is still functioning.

  • Mac Mini won't start after installing OS X 10.6.3

My Mac Mini won't start after installing Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.3. When I turn it on, the Apple logo appears and the initialization line starts to fill, but it suddenly stops. It does that again and stops at the same point, but this time it shuts down. What should I do?

If you are coming from 10.5.8, hopefully you backed up your important data first. Your mini will need at minimum, 1 GB of RAM to install Snow Leopard and at least 5 GB of storage remaining on your boot drive.
I treat 10.6.3 as a fresh, full install over a 10.5.8 system. That means I choose Disk Utility from the Installer's menu and repartition the boot drive as a single partition, Mac OS X Extended (Journaled) format, and use the GUID partition scheme from the options button. At this point, while still in Disk Utility, I would verify the drive under First Aid.
Then I turn the installer loose, and reboot into a working 10.6.3 system, ready for the software updates that take the machine to 10.6.8.
So, following the above guidelines, reinstall 10.6.3.

  • OS X Mavericks won't complete install on external drive

Hi.  I have the new Mac Pro (late 2013) with all software updated.  I have a 2TB external ATA drive attached with USB 3.0.
I wanted to install OS X on the external drive and had to use the Command R method.  The computer restarted and started the install process.  I used disk utility to erace the external drive.  I did exactly what Apple instructed.  I created a new single partition and set everything as instructed by Apple.
I then ran the install and it took 30+ minutes to install OS X.  It said the computer would re-start at the end of the download, which it did.  BUT, it didn't restart on the new drive.  It's as if it couldn't then find the external drive and it rebooted on my normal internal drive.  I did EVERYTHING all over again and got the same result.
There are now files on my external drive in a folder called "OS X Install Data" but I don't see the OS X installer file.  I think the computer was supposed to detect the external and complete the install but it didn't.
What is wrong and what do I do to avoid this problem or fix it?  Can I continue the process with the files on the external drive?
PS - I first tried to install the OS X Mavericks installer file from the App Store but it told me that I could not install Mavericks on my computer.  I believe the version on the new Mac Pros is differnent and I read you have to get it from the Internet using the Command R method.
I've used the Command R method on my old Mac Pro and it worked fine.  Something is wrong here.
    Thank you in advance!

BTW, clarification:  The hard drive is in a USB 3.0 enclosure made by DAT Optic.  It works great as an external drive but can't figure out why I can't get the OS installed on it.
Given that the files were downloaded to the external drive, I then tried this approach:
    http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/apple-in-the-enterprise/how-to-create-a-bootabl e-usb-to-install-os-x-mavericks/
It didn't work.  WhenI booted I got the null sign error.  Even though all the files are on the drive just as described in this above link, it still doesn't work.  And the files on the drive are not the typcial folders that indicate a full OS was installed. There are many files that look like they are used to create an OS.
How the heck can I get OS X Mavericks to install completely on a hard drive that is in a USB enclosure?

  • OS X won't complete boot

My Mac Mini won't complete the startup process. It gets as far as the message "starting OS X" with the blue progress bar all the way full but then stays there...it's been there for the last 3 hours. It doesn't look frozen and I suspect memory issues. As I can't get to the "About this mac" screen I can't tell you exactly what kind of mem. it has, but I believe its 512 with 2.something RAM & 30g hard drive and non-Intel...so yeah, older, slower model but has been working fine up until just a few weeks ago. Symptoms have included programs freezing, not waking or taking forever to do so. I emptied the Safari cache and later read about the activity monitor & how emptying the CPU history cache would also help...both of these things did completely resolve the issue but was back to it moving slowly within a week or two. I also did reset the PRAM as outlined in another discussion but since it went past the gray screen with the logo & spinning gear, I sensed this was probably not the issue and sure enough, there was no change. At this point I figure I need to just wait for it to eventually complete its boot then empty the caches again, but what about helping it to not do this again? Is there something else I'm missing other than uninstalling infrequently used programs, not running widgets, etc.?
    Thanks!

Thanks for the clarification, but it still just continues to the"starting os x" message with the blue progress bar. By "old aluminum keyboard" do you mean the flat, newer ones that are out? The one I got with the mini in '05 was all white, plastic and been thrown away a long time ago when certain keys stopped working. So yes, I probably do have the kind that doesn't work with it (I actually kept my old keyboard for a couple of years "just in case" but threw it out in the last year...of course!) The mini doesn't have bluetooth or remote capability...so...do I go borrow someone's old plastic white one?
Also, I installed Tiger when it came out. Should I be using that disk for the reinstall, or the original with Panther on it? I've been using the original.
I was suspecting a virus mostly because I do keep the hard drive with around 10g free, so at about 30%. The only recent difference is that I tried to open PhotoShop CS4 which I installed a couple of years ago but never got around to learning. It told me it needed to be reinstalled as something was missing or corrupted so I closed it and that was the end of that. I've read that it's one of the programs out there that can really deplete memory, maybe it did something when I opened it. But if I can't log in to uninstall it, I'm stuck.
    Thank God for my MacBook!
    Thanks

  • External keypad won't work after installing OS 7.

External keypad won't work after installing OS 7. I have a "Zagg" keyboard that won't pair now to OS 7,...Why?

They do work. I have one and mine is working. Have you tried to reset your iPad? HOlding down teh sleep and home keys until it reboots then try pairing again.
A slightly more drastic thing is to go into the settings and reset all settings. THe downside, you will need to retweak your device but it can help fix keyboard glitches.

  • TS1702 Why won't my apps install on my ipad? it keeps waiting. Please help

Why won't my apps install on my iPad, it just keeps waiting. Please help.
    Thanks.

These are all steps that have worked for some other users in the past. They may not work for you, but they are worth a try.
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again.

If you use extensions like <i>Adblock Plus</i> or <i>NoScript</i> or <i>Flashblock</i> that can block content then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.<br />
You can see the installed Firefox extensions in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions".
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

macbook pro won't boot after installing update 10.9.3

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Photoshop Elements 10 won't complete installation and won't uninstall.

Photoshop Elements 10 won't complete the installation process and it won't uninstall using the uninstall utility (I get an error message).  So I tried deleting all files manually.  However, when I re-insert Disc #1 it only offers to uninstall Elements 10 - which it won't do (same error message).  So I can't go forward (install) or backward (uninstall).  My computer is a Dell Studio 1555 with 4 GB of RAM, 64-bit OS, running on Vista Home Premium.  I have 180 GB free of 283 GB on the C drive.

  • I have been unable to upgrade for almost a year. The upgrade loads partially, but won't complete.

I'm on Mac OS 10.6.7, computer is about a year and a half old. I think I may have had one successful upgrade very early on, to 3.5.2. Every time I've tried to upgrade since then, it starts but won't complete. It's getting to the point where this has got to be upgraded, and I simply can't get it to move. I've noticed Firefox has been crashing, which it almost never used to do. Help!!

If you have problems with updating then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
    * Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Firefox 3.6.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
    * Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
    * Install the new version that you have downloaded
