Facebook won't stop syncing

Hi
I recently installed iLife 11 which seems to have better facebook intergration
Only problem is, it will never stop syncing forcing me to have to force quit iPhoto
I have noticed it is trying to sync my facebook albums that aren't in my library, is it actually going to make copies of these photos to my library or is it just referencing them?
Basically what I want to know is what exactly is facebook trying to do when its syncing with iPhoto and why is it taking so long?
Thanks

I ran into the same thing with Flickr, FB and Mobile Me too. I also force quit. But then when I reopened, and found it still syncing, I went to each album and double clicked the generic icon that appeared instead of a photo.... the individual images began to load and populate the window, and "pending" at the bottom of some photo's soon changed to completed or finished. I also will note that in many albums, when I double clicked the generic icon, most photo's appeared right away. I thought none were there since the icon was generic, but double clicking each one then showed photo's and or converted to the photo's in the window. After doing this for the albums, syncing stopped. I do not know why this was. I know it was time consuming depending on how many albums you have, and or images per. But this worked.
So I am not sure what happened.... almost like it was syncing but not completing. I waited a long time too before force quitting. SO try this and see if your photo's are there and synced, or if most are there and only a few more need to sync.

My iPod 6th Generation won't stop syncing, anyone help?

What do it do instead of shuffle? Is the shuffle option still turned on? It can be enabled and disabled from the Now Playing screen.

  • IPod Shuffle refuses to eject; won't stop syncing.

    I have a 2nd Generation iPod Shuffle and a Windows 8 laptop.
My iPod is stuck in an infinite syncing loop. I can plug it in, and it'll sync with iTunes, but then even after it's finished syncing with iTunes, it still flashes as if it's syncing, and iTunes won't let me eject it because it says it's in use with another program--I can't imagine what.
It'll charge while it's flashing, but if I remove it without ejecting--which I have to, because it won't eject--the next time I plug it in, it won't flash OR charge, and the computer won't even recognize that it exists, although iTunes will still recognize it.
Then I have to restart the iPod Service on my laptop to get it to charge again, but doing so makes it flash again, and refuse to be ejected again, ad infinitum.
I don't know what could possibly be latching onto my iPod. I recently reset this laptop to factory defaults and the only thing I've installed since the rest are iTunes, GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program), and Microsoft Office.
I guess it's not unusable, since it seems I can kind of get around it by resetting the iPod Service every single time, but that's kind of a pain.

It never stops syncing. I've been syning it for 6 hours and it hasn't finished with no sign of stopping. There are no errors and it doesn't have any messages of what it is syncing.

  • Ios 8 photos app won't stop syncing

Recently upgraded to an iPhone 6 and iOS 8.  When I open the Photos app, it always has a Syncing..... indicator at the bottom and won't stop.  I have tried disabling Photo Stream and iCloud photo albums and doing a hard restart.  I also deleted out many old photos that appear to have been corrupted during the upgrade.
    How can I fix this?
    Thank you.

Still not fixed after upgrading to 8.1.
Also, I tried enabling iCloud Photo (Beta) and got an interesting message:  Syncing would begin once the restore from backout was complete.  This is interesting because I do not use iCloud for backup and the settings are turned off.
    Help?!?

  • Ipod won't stop syncing

I recently reinstalled Windows on my computer, and plugged in my ipod. It updated all the songs and everything, but even after it's finished copying all the files, the little swirly thing that says "ipod syncing, do not disconnect" just keeps going and going. Also, it won't copy all of my videos to my ipod. That one I can't figure out, since they're all the same file type and it appears to be random selection. Why won't my ipod stop syncing?

If you're set Manually Manage, the Do Not Disconnect icon will not disappear on its own...you have to manually eject the iPod. Are you set to Manual Manage or Auto Sync?

  • ATV in Itunes won't stop syncing...

ATV still works but when Sync started this day it has been going on for an hour and won't complete sync????!!!
What's the solution? preferences? delete ATV from Itunes and reapply?

Tech support came through for me on this issue...
    Go to this link

Restart the ATV per the link instructions and run diagnostics then restart. Sync should return to normal as mine did....

  • Macbook Pro won't stop syncing unplugged ipod 5

I plugged my iphone 5 into my new macbook pro (with retina display) via usb port to sync it and back up itunes and all was well, all my music is now on my iphone and my macbook. No follow up issues. However, when i plug in my ipod 5, things started to go wrong. Backing it up wouldn't work at all and i couldn't sync ANY of my other apps with it and so after about 45 minutes, i gave up. I ejected my ipod and i thought everything was ok until every time i tried to shut down my macbook, i would get a notification asking if i was still willing to shut down my laptop even though itunes was still trying to back up with my ipod. I was confused and went to look at itunes and tried clicking 'Quit Back up' which didn't work as my laptop completely disregarded me.
Then, I thought, maybe if i click sync ipod, it will realise that there is nothing plugged in and then it will quit. Not the case. When i clicked sync it actually started syncing my ipod but my ipod wasnt aware of it. On itunes on my macbook, it was mainly blank, not showing any of the backup options like it usually does while syncing and what not. This has been going on for nearly a week.
Because backing up and syncing take up a lot of battery, my laptop has been reaching low battery in about 45mins-1hour of use. Itunes is refusing to let me quit and shut down my laptop even though i click to stop sync when it asks me. Itunes is constantly running in the background draining my battery life. I have now just plugged in the same ipod but my itunes has failed to recognise it. This is also stopping me from updating my software with the newest update.
I don't know what i'm meant to do because i feel powerless and as a first time mac user, who, by the way, does nothing but surf the net and do schoolwork on it, i am very shocked by how quickly this has happened as i have only had this macbook pro for under 4 months.
Hope this gets answered asap as this has been going on for about a week. Thank you

The first thing I'd do is boot to your install DVD (Cmd-C) or recovery partition (Cmd-R in case you're running Lion or Mountain Lion). Start Disk Utility and repair the disk and its permissions. With any luck, that will get your system running properly again. If not, we'll walk you through resetting the SMC and NVRAM.

  • IPod touch 4g won't stop syncing with iTunes

I had a nearly 2 year old ipod touch 4g that when updated to ios 5, it froze...just days before the orginal warranty was about to expire.   apple store gave me a new ipod touch and they put ios 5 on it at the store.  when i got home and synced it to my itunes, everything copied fine...and the strange thing is...no matter how long i leave the ipod connected to my macbook pro (running lion), itunes always stays stuck on "copying step 6 of 6".  it NEVER stops copying.  here's the wierd thing, i can manually unplug the ipod touch and it seems fine....all the stuff is there.  but itunes never recognizes that it's done.  i've restored the ipod AGAIN...and it still gets stuck on 'step 6 of 6'.  i've left it synching overnight...and still, in the morning..'step 6 of 6'.  bizarre.  any one have ANY ideas on what's going on?  I also have a iphone 4 running ios 5 and do NOT have this same problem.

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.

  • Exchange email won't stop syncing inbox on Mac

I've been using Macs, iPhones, and iPads for many years, but I've never tried to setup my work Exchange account with my Mac until I just purchased a MacBook Air as a second computer (to use partially for work).  I was hoping that it would work just like it does on my iPhone and iPad and it appears like it should, but in Mail it just keeps syncing.  It looks like most (I'm not sure if it's all) of my email has come in, but sending and receiving is very slow and it seems to be continuously syncing.  I'm basing this on the appearance of the circling graphic just to the rght of the Inbox.  This is the one that looks like spinning dashes in a circle, not the one that looks like a pie showing completion status of the sync.  However, the Mail Activity box in the lower left doesn't show anything.
My company uses Microsoft Exchange 2010 and I'm running the latest and updated version of Lion (in fact it's one of the new Airs that just came out this week), so I'd expect this to work.  Calendar and Contacts seem to be sycing just fine.
Does anybody have any expertise with this?  I've already waited several hours and I've tried it for both mine and my wife's account (both Exchagne 2010) with the same result.
    Thanks for any help!

You're not the only one having this problem with Exchange servers.  Every so often, Mail gets stuck on that spinning wheel you describe, but it only occurs on the Exchange server account.  All other accounts that I have check and receive mail flawlessly.  The spinning wheel doesn't seem to affect incoming mail; even though the spinning wheel gives the appearance that it's hung up, new mail still arrives.  It's just more of an annoyance to me, so I quit Mail and immediately re-open it and the spinning stops (for awhile).  Face it.  Macs still hating talking to Microsoft devices.  I think that's the bottom line explanation.

  • Sync won't stop on iPad.

And, iTunes now won't open on any of my devices. I tried to update iTunes to version 11 on my new Mac Mavericks and that's when this problem began. New download would not open. So, I went back to my old Windows 7 Laptop to update my iPad, Mini and Touch. What a mess I created! Mini won't stop syncing, iPad cannot load iTunes and my Touch is in the same boat...no iTunes. Previously, I updated just fine with the Laptop. What did I do wrong?

Hi Try  a, reboot, press & hold power button & menu, button, hold both down until you see Apple  Logo. Before  you do Reboot, Sign out, of itunes on ipad then sign, back in this may help. Cheers Brian

  • After 2.2 Update, iPhone will not stop "syncing"

I have the original 8 GB iPhone. I recently updated to the new version of iTunes (8.0.2.20), as well as the new version of the iPhone software (2.2). I had no issues regarding the phone itself, or syncing, until after I updated to version 2.2.
After the 2.2 update my phone won't stop syncing. When I first sync the phone, it will backup, then sync the calendars and contacts, and music, etc. However, when all of this is done, it is still syncing. In iTunes it says "syncing iPhone" at the top, and the little "busy" wheel is turning next to my device listed on the left side of iTunes. On the iPhone it still says "sync in progress." I have left the phone syncing is the dock/cradle for several hours, and it still continues to "sync".
If I cancel the sync, or eject the phone (to cancel the sync), and i go into my phone I see that everything appears to have synced just fine, even though it showed as still syncing.
Long story short, it appears everything is syncing fine, but the only way to get it to stop syncing is to cancel it myself. Any ideas as to why this would be happening? And what can I do to fix it? Thanks for any help.

I notice this happened to mine before I restored it. I know it sounds like a hassle, but restoring your phone would not only make the syncs faster in the future and leave you without problems, but it would also make the installation of apps much quicker and make the phone itself "speedier". When I say restore the phone, I don't mean from a backup, but make it a new iPhone. Start fresh. Sometimes after numerous updates and changes to music and data on the iPhone and even iTunes, it sort of "clogs" up the potential speed that the phone has. Believe me, I saw a huge difference after doing this. So make sure you back up the phone and anything you could have stored on applications. If you don't want to risk losing data from apps, you could just back up the phone and restore using the latest backup if you wish. If you do that, you will have to resync all the music/photos/calendars/contacts that you have on your phone if you automatically sync them. I prefer not using the backup, but it's still an option. Good luck if that doesn't work, you could try reinstalling iTunes. That helps out pretty well also.

  • IPod stops syncing after a while, won't eject and then crashes iTunes

Whenever I try to update my iPod Classic 80GB, after 1000 songs or so the iPod stops syncing (gets stuck on a song). Then the iPod won't eject, even when dragged into trash.
Then, when trying to eject iPod or quit iTunes, iTunes crashes and has to be force quitted with iPod cable removed.
When I check my iPod it says there is no music/photos etc on it.
I have reinstalled the latest iTunes and restored my iPod with the latest version, my OS software is all up to date too.

Actually at 1200ish songs the iPod hard drive starts making some severe clicking/clanking noises. I'm guessing it means the hard drive is screwed since it's the same symptoms as my last iPod
Why does this happen? Both my iPods were about 2 years old when the hdd's started clicking, surely hdd's last for more than two years?

  • Palm Z22 old version-sync problems. Won't stop.

Have old Palm Z22. Downloaded new software and now can't sync.  It starts, won't stop or close. Must shut off computer to stop it!  Tried to uninstall new program, loaded old one from CD and still have the problem. Palm works fine but can't sync , so whats the point. Please Help.
    Post relates to: Palm Z22

Firstly, you do not have to shut down your computer to end the hot sync. Click Ctrl +Alt + Delete on your computer to bring up the task manager. Click on Hot Sync and click "end task" and then "end now" to the message that comes up on the computer screen to end the hot sync.
Then, restart the hot sync manager by clicking on Start > Programs/All Programs > Palm One/Palm Desktop > Hot Sync Manager. You will then see the hot sync icon (circle with red and blue arrows) on the bottom right of your computer screen right near where the time is displayed.
Do you use the calendar on your palm at all? Is there any info there that needs to be sync'd to your computer?

O.k. Thanks for the clarification. I poked around in my TimeCapsule router's settings (TimeCapsule is an Apple Airport Extreme router with attached hard drive for wireless backup/storage). Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I can disable multicasting with the TimeCapsule. I can change the multicasting 'rate'. Settings are Low, Medium, High. It's currently set to Low.
I did a few web searches, and found an Apple.com article: <http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3789?viewlocale=en_US> which explained how to disable Bonjour Service Advertisements. I believe this is the same thing as 'Multicasting'. The process is a modification of "/System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mDNSResponder.plist", and a restart of the Mac is required afterwards.
I'm a bit concerned that disabling multicasting will interfere with my AppleTVs and iTunes music sharing, but I may try it next time I'm up for a computer workout. This task will require editing of system preference files, could require multiple restarts, might interfere with my AppleTVs, could interfere with my iTunes file sharing, doesn't have a documented relationship to my problem.
This is way to difficult for something that should just work. Did you say you had read something about a relationship between this bonjour multicasting and smb connectivity? If it was online could you post the link?
I'm currently able to connect to the drive using NFS, but I have to manually configure that connection each time I reboot (can't get the 'Disk Utility' configured to do it automatically). While it's working with NFS, it's not my preferred connect method (for various reasons).
