Faces from my Mac's random sort order

So since updating to iOS 8 (and up to iOS 8.0.2, iPhone 5) and syncing my photos from aperture, the stock photo's app now seems intent on listing all the people tagged in my photos in a random order. Previously, on iOS 7, these were listed alphabetically with no issues (the fact that the phone wants to change the sort order of albums from what they're set to to date is another gripe altogether, but at least one that has a workaround).
Does anyone else have this issue of Faces from my Mac being in a completely random order? And if so does anyone know of a workaround? I've tried deleting the iPod photo cache from my Aperture library but this hasn't had any effect...

I have the same issue too. My 'Faces' are all mixed up and depending on where I look i.e. if I go to send a photo through iMessage, they are in order. But, if I look in the Photo App on my iPhone, they are all mixed up.
On a slightly different note, if i'm in the Facebook App and I go to upload a photo, the 'Camera Roll' contains ALL my photos on my phone and only the 3 albums that I made on the phone. It doesn't view my albums imported from iPhoto. Clearly an FB issue and not Apple though.

It's a whole new ballgame now. Here's some info on how the Photos apps now works.
Your photos are still on your phone. With iOS 8 there is no My Photo Stream or Camera Roll any more. The MPS has been replaced with the Recent Activity album.
The CR is replaced by the Collections mode. The closest we can get to the Camera Roll is to turn off the Summarize Photos feature in the Settings/Photos & Camera pane and view the photos in the Collections/Moments window.
The photos will be in chronological order when scrolled up from the bottom of the window.
The Recent Activity album is showing the photos added in the last 30 days going back to 8/20 (today being 9/18). In iPhoto on a Mac the My Photo Stream is showing more like 31 days, 8/19 to today, 8/20. It must be how the two devices calculate the last 30 days.
WARNING: If you use iTunes to sync photos between your iPhone or iPad and your Mac do not activate the iCloud Drive. Doing so will kill the capability of using iTunes to sync with your mobile device and disable Documents & Data syncing for your iCloud account on OS X Mavericks and earlier Macs, as well as iOS 7 and earlier devices.

Photo "Events from my Mac" very out of order

I have an iPhone 6S running iOS 8.1.1... For some time I've noticed the following. If I go into Events from my Mac in the iPhone Photo App, the Events are in no way ordered chronologically. They all have a month and day next to them as if that's how they SHOULD be ordered but the dates jump all over the place. I even tried deleting everything from the iPhone first and then going to iTunes and adding them back in date order a few at a time. The first three or four went in in date order but then they started again jumping all over the place. There must be something other than chronology that is telling the phone how to order these Events or it's just a huge bug.
It makes no sense to have them in the phone in a seemingly random order. That makes it hard to find anything. Does anyone know why they are showing up in such a seemingly non-ordered way??? And what do I need to do to fix this??? Or is it just a bug???

No, sorry.There is really no way to set the sort order in iOS Photos.app.
iTunes Photo sync will be discontinued soon. The iCloud Photo Library will replace it early next year.Already with iCloud Photo Library Beta enabled, you can no longer sync your iPhoto library to your iOS devices using iTunes.

Events from my MAC are out of order on my iPAD

This is NOT an IOS iPhoto issue, but since I cannot find a forum for the IOS Photo "app" I post it here anyway.
I sync my photos from my MAC via iTunes to several IOS devices. This has been working fine (order of the events on my IOS device are the same as on my MAC (sort order: Title)). After upgrading to Yosemite and IOS8, my events on my MAC are still sorted according to my sort order (title) but on my IOS device the show up in what seems to be random order. And as far as I can tell, there's no way of setting the sort order in IOS Photo. Can anyone please help?

Random sort order in slideshows

I was trying to import some jpg's into a slideshow, from a folder of jpg's. I found that the slides that ended up in the iDVD slideshow were randomly sorted. The sort order matched neither the date/timestamp, the filename, or any other metadata I could work out. I then imported them into iPhoto and discovered I could force a sort order there and bring them across from iPhoto into iDVD and that worked.
However, the behavior of iDVD when importing from a regular folder of images is very buggy, and of course there are no slideshow sorting options within the program. I do this regularly and pumping everything through iPhoto just so I can get my slideshows sorted is cumbersome. Has anyone else seen this and is there an explanation/fix?

Did you have any luck with this? I have been trying all day to find a solution for this very problem. I know I can do the *into iPhoto first* theory - but as I am adding from Aperture I had thought I was past the iPhoto malarky.

Why Photos in "Events from my Mac" are not in order?

I am currently running iOS 8.1.1 on an iPhone 6 with 128GB on AT&T. My iMac is running OS X 10.10.1 and iPhoto is at version 9.6 (everything up to date).
As you might be able to see, when I go to "Events from My Mac" in the Photos app on my iPhone, none of the events are in order. This makes it impossible to find anything when looking for a particular picture or album. First off, what order are they even in? I cannot come up with any reason for the order that they are in. Secondly, how can I switch it so that my events are in sequential order by date like they used to be on the old iOS.

Exporting from Lightroom 1.3: Different sort order than defined in Grid view

Just did an export from Lightroom 1.3 and ended up with a the wrong export order.
Here is what I did.
1. Create a collection
2. Drag the pictures I want to export into that collection
3. Select: Sort: Import order (In lightroom grid view - the sort order was correct)
4. Export from Lightroom with "Userdefined name - sequence"
The result is a total different sort order than I can see in the Lightroom Grid view.
Very annoying.
Any ideas?
Also - in the new export dialog there seems to be no option anymore to CHANGE a user-defined export like in the previous version. What do you do if you want to change something?
Overwrite with the same name?
Remove old export and add the new one changed?

Are you seeing this only in Lightroom? They are not 'still in the parent, Germany folder.' only visible their if you have 'Include Photos from Subitems' checked in the Menu/Library of Library.
Uncheck that you you will only see them in their correct folders.

BB10 / Z10 Swiping back from System Settings, Menu / App sort order, BB10 UI recognizing email / phoneno / addresses

There some inconsistencies within the BB10 UI which I finally figured is derived by the ability to swipe back from the stock UI except from within the system settings where we have to use the back button to go back between screens.
Can we have option to sort System Menus or Application Drawer and the ability to hide applications like previous BBOS?
BB10 UI is not intuitive in regards to recognizing email / phone nos / addresses compared to prior BBOS. A lot of trial and error copy and pasting to do what you want to do with said contact info until figuring out what works. Unfortunately besides not being able to call a phoneno directly from anywhere, a user does not have the ability to copy and paste number on a dialer or search item to call like previous BBOS. User will have to either try to go back and for the between screens to dial and call the number or use the trust pen and paper method.

Okay, yes, I'm suffering from new phone syndrome but ill ask these final things for today. Home / Lock screen customization would be nice. Between the phone / search / camera icons on the bottom bar theres empty space which can fit two other icons like maybe one for brower and text. May we get the option to change these shortcuts? I for one do not use the camera often so it's useless to me on the Home / Lock screens. May we also get an option to pin active frames so we do not have to keep opening the same ones, in my case battery and weather apps. I know it would drain the battery faster but hey its my choice and that's why I'm getting the BlackBerry battery bundle for ADD people like myself.
Finally, may we get more password options like swipe pattern found on Android phones to unlock the phone. During my cup of tea with the enemy, that was one of my favorite features as it was a lot faster to do one handed than text based passwords. Again, the camera is useless to me so having other than that on the lock screen would be great. Please let me have the choice to see a brief description of my notifications on the lockscreen like the descriptions found on the drop down drawer from previous BBOS. It has notification counters and agenda info but I want more like the ability for these icons to quick launch to their respective apps like email to email or text to text app. Even power button screen can have more quick toggle options like quickly going to vibrate or airplane mode.
If all these things are not something BlackBerry wants to do themselves, especially since most are old BlackBerry features, please bring back BlackBerry Themes. There are many talented BBOS UI designers who are being left behind in the old world who could greatly help fine tune the UI to specific needs and interests. I believe these themes would definitely be a hit in BlackBerry world and I would purchase them if I found one that suits how I want to use the phone quickly and efficiently.
All in all it is great phone which unfortunately a BlackBerry power users have to dumb down for any expected BlackBerry features that are not there yet or may never be possible for a full touch phone. Due to my line of work, the quest to owning just one phone will continue to elude me because I need / require the ability to filter and set level one notifications. Current enterprise users know what I'm talking about. Hopefully they will come.

Creating a custom or random sort order

I would like to be able to drag and drop my images in any given order, and then rename them sequentially. This is useful for creating albums, etc. Will Lightroom enable me to do this? If so, HOW? I have not seen this topic, nor does it appear possible with the current version.

Ah Hah! I discovered the problem. You cannot use this function unless you are in the specific folder of the photo shoot. In other words, if there are any subfolders, you have to be viewing only the group of images in the subfolder to create a user order. If you are viewing a folder that has an arrow to the left of it, you must twirl the arrow down and click on one of the subfolders below it (which are slightly indented in the Library list.

Sort order for Faces

Does anyone know if the Faces panel in Aperture has a sort order option? In particular, I'm interested in sorting the faces that show up on the panel based on number of photos included.

All you do is hold down on any of the icons for a few seconds and they will start wiggling. You can then move them to your hearts content, either on the same page or to different pages. Just press the HOME button to return to normal mode.

Yahoo mail sort order in inbox

Hi all,
My problem initially started with the push function for yahoo mail not working. The additional problem that I now have is that the emails in my inbox as well as sent items are not appearing in the right sort order (most recent to oldest). The inbox and the sent box both are showing the last 50 emails first.
Any suggestions.

Sorry for the double-post here, but after reading the fix suggested at http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=3066818&#3066818 more carefully, my problem is resolved.
As it turns out, you have to choose the group in Address Book, then select all the names, then drag all the selected names to the Pages doc for the mail merge to sort in alpha order.
Part of the problem I was experiencing has to do with the click-and-drag lag in Address Book. If you select all the entries, then click-and-drag quickly toward Pages, the list will deselect all but the first entry.
Instead, you have to click-and-hold-and-drag-very-slowly out of the Address Book window. I'm not sure why, but when I attempted (and repeated) the process, that's what I found.
I hope my error helps another.

(about 140 addresses) to merge into Pages, they come

Iphoto album sort order issue.

Stadard iphoto album (iphoto 11) being manually sorted suddendly reverted to what appears to be a random sort order. The order now is not by date, camera, keyword, or any other. It appears to have set its own manual order. How can this happen? Is there a way to revert back to the previous sort order? Even if I had mistakenly reset the manual sort, wouldn't it default back to one of the standard sort criteria?

You don't have to. If you look at the photo in the Event that tghe photo came from you'll find that it has been edited.
The photos in albums are only pointers to the original photo in the Event. There's no file duplication in the process of adding a photo to an album.

Slideshow sort order iWeb 08

Images brought in from iPhoto are not retaining the sort order-alphabetical by file name.
Anything I can do to make this right?

How did you import them into iWeb? When I put them in an iPhoto Album, sort as desired and drag that album into an iWeb photo page from the Media Browser the sort order is kept. Is that how you're doing it?

Migrated from iPhoto, synced from iMac - events are not sorted chonologically - any ideas?

I am very frustrated over this issue. My photos are about worthless too me now. Imagine going thru over 200 folders to find one picture. I hope Apple does something to fix this problem. All I want is to be able to chose an order for my pictures.
They still have not fixed the 3G problem and most of the time I have no 3G access. So, I am losing prepaid ATT iPad minutes by the day since I cannot use my 3G.
DO not know what is going on with Apple but am not very happy with this new supposedly super upgrade of iOS.
Really wish I could go back to 7 but its almost impossible. If Apple had warned us about this I would never have downloaded. Lost my iPhoto with all the editing tools, repair pic, soften pic, whiten pic,,, etc. Now there is a limited edit feature. And I paid for the iPad IPhoto.

Why are "Events from my Mac" in iPhoto out of order

"Events from my Mac" do not sync to ipad and iPhone in the sort order specified in iPhoto??? They sync in random order and in a different order on each device. This makes using iPhoto irritating and finding a particular event impossible. I understand Apple is moving from iPhoto to Photo but until that date they need to support existing application. Its been this way for close to a year now and so many updates have not addressed it.

It is evident, that the sequence of photos, events, albums, faces albums, etc on iOS devices is not considered to be an important feature on iOS devices by the Apple developers.
