Facetime 1.0.2 on Macbook

My Daughter is using a Macbook Mid 2009 running Snow Leopard (Lion not reccommended)
Face time 1.0.2 was running fine until everyone she contacts upgraded to Face Time 2.0 now the Face Time window opens but will not connect.
when she calls out nothing happens!
App store says her software is up to date and will not allow her to up grade to Face Time 2.0.
any ideas ??
Thanks
Ian

Hi jaybird24,
It sounds like there may be something wrong with the installation of this app. The best troubleshooting step will be to uninstall, then reinstall the application from the Mac App Store.
For information on how to do so, see this article:

FaceTime not working on my Macbook Pro. I am able to sign in successfully and add contacts.  When I try to call a contact with an iPhone, it says connecting then fails by ending automatically.   When someone try to FaceTime me,I accept but it says connecting then fail.  I only have a MacBook Pro to FaceTime and not an iPhone.  I was informed that I should be able to FaceTime from my laptop via video call without an iPhone.
    Please advise.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    1. The purpose of this test is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The "Guest User" login created by "Find My Mac" is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    2. Connect to a different network, such as a public Wi-Fi hotspot, and try again.

  • Messages and FaceTime keep disconnecting from my MacBook Pro.

iMessage and FaceTime keep disconnecting from my MacBook Pro. I’ve never turned either of them off on my computer, but every time I turn them back on, they work for about a week, and then I start getting messages and phone calls on my iPhone and iPad but not on my MacBook. Is anyone else having this problem?

I'll ask the hosts to move this post to Yosemite.

First go to settings, and turn facetim off then back on again. Try to sign on
Try signing into facetime after each one of these suggestions
Make sure IOS is updated to latest version
(How to update your iOS device
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4623)
Reboot device by pressing both the home button and sleep/wake (power) buttons at the same time for 10-15 seconds until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
If that doesn't work then reset the device by going to settings/general/reset/reset all settings  (or for network connection issues 'reset network settings').
(no media or data will be deleted from the device, this will only take a minute).

  • How do I get Facetime to connect on my Macbook Pro?

    Hi guys,
For some reason Facetime is not connecting to anyone anymore. I cannot receive incoming calls and when I dial out, it just rings and rings and other party will tell me that they are not getting anything from me. I've read the Facetime Troubleshooting guide (http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4185) and my network is fine, Skype works fine. I don't know what the problem is. Please help.
    Thanks,

  • How do you get FaceTime to work on my MacBook Air?

I got my MacBook Air yesterday, I set up an Apple I.D, and I logged into FaceTime. It kept saying that it was was still "Sigining in..." so I pressed cancel and made a new I.D. It STILL doesn't work! My mom even used her Apple I.D that she uses for her FaceTime and that didn't even work. What am I supposed to do??

  • FaceTime not working on 17" macbook pro with Snow Leopard

I have a 17" macbook pro from around 2008 (2.4 ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB RAM) that will not connect using FaceTime.  I tried to call my daughter on her iPod Touch 4G and the call says "Connecting" it rings on both ends, but then my picture freezes and it never completes the connection, just hangs up and says "Call failed". She can facetime her friends with other iPods just fine, so I think the problem is with my mac. I also tried calling to another mac that has facetime working fine, but I could not connect to that one either. Same result...ringing, connecting, screen freeze, drop call, no connection.  I've seen others with this problem on google, but their suggestions have not fixed the problem either.  I even tried deleting facetime and then downloading it again from app store and still same result.  I am able to use skype perfectly fine with this macbook pro, so I don't see it as a camera problem.

  • FaceTime Airplay Mirroring on 2012 MacBook Pro

    Hi,
Just wondering if anyone can help. I have a 2012 MacBook Pro and an AppleTV bought at the same time, Airplay mirroring works perfectly for music and video etc through iTunes and for Safari and Youtube etc, however I am having issues with FaceTime. With FaceTime only the video is displayed on the TV, the audio remains on the internal speakers despite going through the settings and selecting AppleTV as the output for audio. Software is up to date on the AppleTV.
Any ideas on how I can get the audio to play through the TV? Thanks.

Im having the same issue.  Airplay to apple tv 3rd gen works great on ipad 3.  On my $4000 macbook pro retina with 16gb and 2.7ghz cpu it keeps lagging and freezing.
    Can anyone please help us?

  • IMessage and FaceTime lost password after restart Macbook Air

    Have a great day!
Need your help. After rebooting my Macbook Air (11", mid, 2012, OS X 10.8.3 (12D78)) need re-enter password for Facetime and iMessage. I'm not hard to input passwords, but no such problem on the iMac. Please tell me how to fix this bug. Thanks in advance for your help!

    Hi,
This sounds like you may have imported the Keychain from one computer to another and then don't have Permission to Write to the Keychain.
You can migrate at setting up time the whole "Account" on one computer and recreate it on another.
However if you set up the computer and try and Drag various files over then some of them you will not "Own" and therefore not have Permission to Write to them.
If you go to Application/Utilities and open the Keychain Access  app however login Keychains does it show ?
(It may display others for System and System roots and possibly Microsoft if you have Office).
In the Finder > Go Menu > Go to Folder type ~/Library/Keychains in the dialogue box that appears.
In this folder how many Keychains are there ?  (login.keychain)
Highlight the login.keychain and then do a Get Info (CMD and i Keys together)
    Scroll to the Bottom
Your Account shortname should appear in the List.
    Highlight it
Use the cogwheel icon at the bottom.
This should read "Make yourshortname (me) the owner" and it should be greyed out for you to Own it.
Your entry should have Read and Write Permissions in the List.
i.e. Make ralph (me) the owner  is greyed out as I already Own it (it cannot be done again) and I have Read And Write Permissions.
