Facetime activation failure.

Hello and thank you in advance for your help.
I just picked up a iPOD TOUCH 32 GIG 4g and now I am trying to setup Facetime. This is my 3rd iPOD.
It says I can use my Apple ID which is the same as my name here Whiteice661 I then put my password in (the same one that I use to connect and purchase from iTUNES) but it tells me the username or password is incorrect.
I then attempted to create a new account and used my email address, the same one assoicated with my Apple ID. Lets say for example purposes that the email I used was justatestema**[email protected] Then I made a new password and connected. Then it goes to the next screen and says something along the lines of "People will be able to contact you via your email address, which email do you want to use?" So I put justatestema**[email protected] and it tells me that address is already in use. Of course it is, its the address associated with my Apple ID.
Can anyone please help me out and tell me what I need to do to fix this? My Apple ID is not a email but a username if that matters for any reason.
Thank you again,
Whiteice

Thanks EZ Jim for your time and help.
You're welcome, Whiteice.
When I click on the link for the manual you provided, it tells me the file has been damaged and cannot be repaired.
I checked and it still works perfectly on my Mac's Safari Browser. If you don't use Safari on your PC, try copying the link and pasting into the URL address field of your browser.
If you cannot access the link on your computer, the information is also available in your iPod touch's Safari app. Look for the the "iPod touch User Guide" Bookmark. The "FaceTime" section will show you the instructions if you can connect to wi-fi.
I want to ask before I do anything, if I end up somehow creating a new Email or user ID or whatever, am I going to loose my purchases under my current Apple ID?...
You are wise to ask! I suggest you get an "official" answer to that question.

  • Facetime Activation --- Credit Card information required?

    Hi all!
My dad is trying to activate facetime, by first setting up an online account at appleid.apple.com. But when trying to activate facetime on his ipod, he gets an activation failure.
From what I understand, he did not put in any credit card information. Is that required?
    Thanks for any help!

No credit card required for Activation.

  • Activation Failure

We've been trying to get our Verizon DSL set up for days now, but activation never goes through. It always fails out with the message "WARNING: Your account has not been activated. You will not be able to use your broadband connection until this problem is resolved. Please call Verizon Support."  Verizon support has been absolutely awful so far.  I've spoken to 4 different agents so far, the only advice I get is "reboot your router."  On top of that, I have to explain the situation all over again to each rep, and usually multiple times to each rep before they finally understand what I'm saying. Every single agent I've talked to so far has insisted on running line tests, usually multiple times, only to tell me everything looks great.  One rep told me, and I quote, "If your service is activated, why don't you just stop going to the activation page?"  Really?! If Verizon would stop routing me to the registration page over and over again, I woudn't need assistance. Sometimes, after a reboot of the router, I'll get a page that says "Due to an account related issue, your Verizon service has been suspended. Please click continue below to begin the process to restore your services."  This of course links back to the activation page, which always greets me with "Your account has been activated"... but still requires me to sign in to "complete a few more steps."  I am so beyond frustrated.  The last agent I spoke with actually refused to send an agent out because "it's a problem on our end."  Is anyone else having activation failures?  I couldn't seem to find this anywhere else, but I have absolutely no faith in Verizon tech support to fix it.  We supposedly have a second modem on the way from Verizon and an open ticket for the issue, but judging from the previous topics in this forum, that apparently doesn't mean much for Verizon tech support.  If this keeps up much longer, we'll have no choice but to cancel the service.  No use paying for something that doesn't even work.
So far, I've tried rebooting the router at least 10 times.  Did 3 resets of the router by holding in the reset button.  Tried signing into the activation page with order number, by name / zip, by phone / zip, cleared browser cache, used Chrome and IE, power cycled PC, nothing.  The router is connected fine, all lights are green and good.  Another problem I noticed is I'm unable to log into the router settings through a web browser.  Default username / password for the D-Link 2750B router I have are supposed to be "admin" and "password", even listed on Verizon's site, but they don't work.  Even after my service is up, not sure how I'm going to configure my WiFi without logging into router settings.

OK, good news and bad news.
Bad News: You will have to figure out why you can't get into your modem/router. If you call tech support and specify that you only want help getting into your modem, they may be able to help.
Good News: This sounds like it might be an issue with the redirect setting. Once you can get into your modem (see bad news above), go to 192.168.1.1/verizon/redirect.htm - You are looking for a disable button. Click on it, and your issue *should* be resolved.

  • HT204380 FaceTime Activation An error occurred during activation

Trying to log into FaceTime on a new iPod Touch. When I enter my apple id and pass, I get the following error message. "FaceTime Activation...An error occurred during activation. Try Again." I know the apple id and pass are correct, any suggestions.

You may have tried this already, but I was having this same issue too, I messed with it for about an hour, then restarted my phone and signed in again and it worked. Hope it works for you too.

  • Cannot get on iMessage or FaceTime I get this message "FaceTime Activation: Could not sign in.  Please check your network connection and try again

Cannot get on iMessage or FaceTime I get this message "FaceTime Activation: Could not sign in.  Please check your network connection and try again

    Try something really simple.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Or try this. Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
Or try this as well. Go to Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>On. Make sure it is set to On.
@Freckles888 ..... I really doubt that "millions of others" are having this problem. I think that news would be all over the airwaves and Apple would be taking more heat about it that we can imagine.

You may want to ask your question under a new discussion thread so you can be the Original Poster(OP) there. You will continue to receive emails from the other threads you have posted to. I think it will allow folks responding to focus on your particular situation. Also you will have to post your troubleshooting results only once.
Now that you are past the FaceTime login step, where are you in the troubleshooting steps in the iOS:Using FaceTime article at http://www.apple.com/support/ipad/facetime/?
Again, if you can ask and answer in a new thread/topic, that would be great.

  • How do I fix activation failure for Creative Suite 5.5 when transferring from XP computer to Windows 8.1?.

How do I fix an activation failure for Creative Suite 5.5 Design Standard? I uninstalled this from my old XP computer and re-installed it on Windows 8.1 two weeks ago. I am in NZ and got error message #129.17. I used the recommended fix of changing the time zone when I did the transfer and this seemed to work, but today when I tried to use Acrobat Pro I got the activation failure message with the same error code again. This time the fix doesn't seem to work. Is there anything else I can try?

  • Facetime login issue - "Facetime activation"

I purchased a new large iPad and restored it from my old iPad using my computer. For some reason the Facetime on a new iPad took the wrong email, but when I try to change it to my actual email I get this error:
    Facetime Activation
Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again.
I've been trying the whole day yesterday. Obviously my network connection is OK.
Any idea how to fix this?

I actually got it working. They wanted me to change my password. So who would've thought??? Once I logged in through this page https://appleid.apple.com/ and changed it, everything started to work again.
PS. Evidently we have to pay for Apple's inability to keep celebrity nudes private by changing our passwords now. I just wish that they clearly labeled it.

  • FaceTime Activation on Ipad

    Thanks for the help.

I found Facetime activity in console on my Macbook Air. I have never used Facetime and nobody else has access to this Macbook as it is a work laptop. I have never used Facetime on any other device that I use my Apple ID for. Is there another app that accesses Facetime or is this an update? Make sure that you have the date and time set properly on your MacBook Air.  If the timezone settings are off, Facetime will not work.  I surely hope that you can FT with your relatives in the "old Sod" before Christmas is over.
