Facetime and internal microphone

why does my internal Microphone shut off after a couple of minutes when using facetime?

Same problem here but a little more complex.
I plug my wife's Macbook pro into an external monitor with camera.  Everything was fine until she took it to a meeting.
Video & Microphone works with nothing plugged in for facetime, ichat and quicktime recordings.
Also, with the computer plugged into the monitor Video and microphone work on ichat and to make quicktime recordings.
However, no microphone for Facetime, but video is fine and you can receive audio.  Also, in the sound preferences you can see the microphone responding.  Sounds like a bug.

  • [Not Solved] linux 3.4.0 and internal microphone issues

I'm happy with linux-ck, but since I've updated to 3.4 the internal microphone of my laptop (the webcam's) refuses to work, giving no sound or an awful noise. The snd_ modules loaded are exactly the same of a working 3.3.7 stock kernel, and I don't know if a similar problem happens with the 3.4 stock kernel as well, which is still in testing.
Has anyone had a similar issue? Can you suggest something to narrow down the problem?
I'll provide further details if needed.
    Thanks

I also tried removing options snd-hda-intel model=ACER. I'm wondering if it's a 3.4 problem with my hardware. I will try 3.4 in [testing] and maybe file a bug, if the mic still doesn't work.
If you verify that Linux-ck is not to blame and that the bug is also present in the ARCH kernel package, please edit your first post's title to not include "Linux-ck."

  • FaceTime and Webcam Microphone?

I just purchased a Live! Cam Chat HD for my 2009 mac mini. I recently upgraded to the Lion software, and bought a webcam with microphone so that I am able to use Facetime. I hooked up the webcam, and changed my settings in systems preferances to the webcam microphone for audio output. When i chat with someone they can only hear a portion of what I am saying. I am not sure if it is the webcam microphone, though i did test it with skype and it seemed to work fine. Please help!

    Long shot, but...
Open Audio Midi Setup in Applications>Utilities, see the input & output options & KHz setting there, some things will change it for their own use, then not set it back.

i've a iMac 27', summer of 2012, and my garageband doesn't record by the internal microphone, what can I do, to resolve this problem?
only for contextualize, in other softwares the microphone record correctly like quicktime, or in facetime, even photobooth. but in garage band not.
i dont know if its a problem of the software, an error of actualization, or a bad configuration. please give me a hand.
    cheers.

Did you choose the mic as the input device in Garageband Preferences?

  • Internal Microphone not working with Quicktime and some other apps, yet it does for Skype.

Internal Microphone not working with Quicktime and some other apps, yet it does for Skype.
Microphone works fine with Quictime on another mac, so I do know how to use it. The one where it is not working (A) had an external microphone and camera attached earlier, and indeed it does work with that external microphone, but not with the internal microphone selected; and (B) had RealPlayer installed previously.
    Any suggestions, please?

    Hi,
    Download Audio driver from here.
Intructions how to install it in Vista/Win7.
    Extract this driver with Winrar.
Open Device manager and expand the Sound, video and game controllers section.
Right click on Either the High Definition Audio Device if you have the generic Microsoft drivers, or the Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221 if you have older Conexant drivers and choose "Update Driver Software..."
Click Browse my computer for driver software, then click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
Click "Have Disk..." then Browse to the folder where the drivers were extracted  .......\V64 for 64-bit Vista/Win7. Click OK.
Select one of the "Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221" models in the list, there will be multiple identical entries.
    Click Next, and you're done.
I'm not sure which one from the list will work for You.
This drivers weren't test. So if You will try them and it will work for You let us now about.

  • Trouble with internal microphone and display

    Hello together,
I just installed Arch on my Laptop yesterday. Everything works fine now, except for two things:
    1) The internal microphone does not work at all. I already checked all settings in alsamixer/amixer and I also tried this, but it won't help.
    2) After a reboot, the display brightness is always reduced. When I press the button to raise it again, nothning happens. When I press the button to lower it instead, it raises to the full brightness. This is a little strange and annoying, but not too important.
Does anyone have an idea how to fix that?
I would be grateful for any help.
    cthl
    EDIT:
I got the microphone working now, I was just a bit confused about the alsamixer/amixer settings.

WonderWoofy wrote:Is that feedback?  Are you sure it is not just the hum of your machine?  I think of feedback as the screech you get when your mic actually starts picking up the output of the speakers.
Perhaps you're right - if so, I certainly didn't get as much background noise before. Any idea how to improve the situation?

  • Internal microphone on Compaq NX6310 does not work and I can't locate it on my list of devices.

Internal microphone on Compaq NX6310  does not work and I can't locate it on my list of devices. What is the problem and how can I correct it? Thanks, Brian

I seriously doubt that Apple will accept your iPad for service/exchange since it sounds like it's a real basket case.  If they
Do accept it, the cost would be 99USD, but if it is a 64Gb model it will cost 199USD.  The best thing for you to do is to take it into the nearest Apple store to see if they will accept it for repair/exchange.  I can tell you that they definitely will not give you an iPhone in exchange.

  • Internal microphone not working and then disappearing on X201

    Hi all,
I have a problem with the internal microphone of my X201, in that: at the beginning the mic was recognized but could not record any sound; then, after reenabling it from the BIOS settings, it just disappeared from the Recording Devices in the Sound Options (it is not even among the disabled or disconnected devices). Is that a software or an hardware problem? Could you please advise me on that? I'm running Windows 7 64 bit Professional.
    Thank you in advance!

    Thanks for your reply.
I don't know. Last week everything was working fine and then, the mic first stopped working and (after the BIOS changes) even disappeared from the list of recording devices. Maybe it has to do with some hardware that has deteriorated with time.
In any case, I uninstalled the only two audio devices I have (Conexant 20585 SmartAudio HD and Intel (R) Display Audio)  from the Device Manager and then rebooted Windows, which reinstalled them automatically. Under Playback Devices (in Sound options) I have the Conexant 20585 SmartAudio HD, but under Recording Devices I didn't have anything.

  • Internal and external microphone doesnot working on HP probook 6550b

    HP probook 6550b.  Windows 7 Pro SP1 64bit.
Sound works without any problems but my microphone suddenly stops working today.
Usually i use my internal microphone.
I tried to plug in one of my external microphones to mic jack and it also doesnot working. I check my 2 external microphones on other PC and they both are woking properly.
    1) Nothing new was installed today.
    2) To fix this i tried to swich in sound properties default device but i dont see any green volume level behind mic images for both.
    3) I removed all audio drivers
    4) After PC was restarted windows installed default drivers but i still cannot record any sound. (Checked in skype and by green record level indicator in sound properties)
    5) Also for default windows drivers i tried to switch my default microphone in 'sound' window settings and also plug in and out my external mics and without results.
Screen shot of windows after default windows drivers was installed:
    What it can be?
    Thanks.

First question, i would answer yes :
About this mac >Materiel > Audio (intégré) > audio haute définition Intel > microphone interne > connexion interne
    Second question :
in system preference > microphone interne  is black and not grey.
bars "sound test" near menu "entry level" does not move at all even if I shout...
    Third question :
The power supply has been totaly replaced by a new one.
    4rth :
Yes, no problem with speakers integrated or with the one of the headset...
On skype : i Hear but can not speak.
(i tested the headset on a PC, it works)

Assuming you want Apple to look at iPhone without a charge a good way to
start is to show you have tried the standard troubleshooting as I
    suggested.
These are described in the user manual and even under warranty
the genius bar will expect these to have been tried before they spend time
looking at an iPhone as normally these steps fix most issues
However it is up to you

hello,i have a macbook pro and i just recently downloaded facetime, and now i cant use it, it says An internal FaceTime error occurred,i dont know how to fix it, please help.

If your webcam is powered by USB, make sure it is attached directly to your Mac and not a USB hub.  In my case, I had my Rocketfish webcam attached to a peripheral USB hub and it wasn't drawing enough power to operate at capacity.  Therefore, Facetime was quitting on me and giving me that exact error message.  Once I attached the webcam directly to my Mac USB port, problem solved.  Hope that helps.

  • Internal microphone and web camera not being detected

I've just bought last week this toshiba Satellite L845D-SP4387RM model and my microphone was working just fine a few days ago, yesterday that I wanted to use it for skype it just stoped working, actually the computer does not detect  any internal micro nor the internal web camera, I've allready tried reinstalling the Conexant Audio drivers, restoring Windows 8, reseting BIOS to default configuration, I've also tried going to control panel and check if the micro and camera are enabled but the internal ones just does not appear on the list, the only ones that appear are the corresponding to external ones. I don't believe that the problem is hardware malfunction because everything was just fine a few days ago.
Some help on how to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated!

After some reading I found that the intenal camera and microphone are connected with the same cable, so I believe that if the camera is not working then the micro will not work too, I'm triying to fix this, perhaps the problem is with the camera drivers, Does anybody have any idea that will provide me with some help? thx.
