FaceTime and Messages log in error on Mac
FaceTime and Messages log in error on my iMac and Mac Mini. (OS X 10.8.2)
Getting a 'registration cannot be completed at this time message', but both worked fine before (when the iMac was in my office).
Both FaceTime and iMessage work on the iPad.
Running the home network through a near-new, still functioning Time Capsule.
Have logged out, tried logging in with a new Apple ID, and get the same result.
Help, please.
Sorry, I'm at a loss...

Facetime and Message log in issue
Hi to all,
I would like to seek your assistance with the Facetime and message log in issue that I am having.
I recently installed the Mountain Lion OS 10.8, now using version 10.8.2, on my personal laptop, Macbook Pro (Mid-2009 model). I have tried many times to log into both applications via my Apple ID but have been unsuccessful.
This afternoon I tried accessing Facetime on my work laptop (Macbook 2010 model, OS Lion 10.7.5) via my Apple ID and it worked.
Can someone please help me in resolving my log in issue with my personal laptop? Much appreciated.
Kind Regards,
Wing KuenI would make sure you are logged into iCloud in the System Preference pane, "Icloud".
Then go the the indivusial prefrences of Facetime and Messages, and try to log in.
Hope this helps! -
IOS 8.1.3 has been released and it addresses FaceTime and Messages sign in issues
If you have been having problems not being able to sign into FaceTime and Messages, or getting error messages with those two apps, download and install iOS 8.1.3.
I Had the exact same problem and after following all the steps at If you get an error when trying to activate iMessage or FaceTime - Apple Support
i did several resets. Nothing seemed to work until I used my iCloud account to sign in rather than my Apple ID I got in. Apple ID did not work at all. Not sure if this will work for you but it did for me ... Good luck!
Edit -
II message error not connecting, appears not to accept password, reset FaceTime and messages. Now says check network. Do not know what else to do

iPad 2 gets activation errors in FaceTime and messages, plus Facebook app opens and then closes
Using the battery level meter in this manner is comparable to using your car's fuel gauge to calculate miles per gallon. The only thing that matters is the total amount of operating time from full charge to auto-shutdown.
Use the wall-mount charger that came with the iPad and charge overnight. Do NOT use an iPod/iPhone charger. Do NOT use a computer's USB port. Then, operate it normally until auto shut-down (ignore any low level alerts that may appear). An irony is that doing that test to determine the total operating time is also the procedure necessary to calibrate the battery level meter.
I'm not claiming that you do not have a problem. I am stating, however, that we don't yet know. If the above test does, in fact, indicate a problem, read this.
Also, according to Apple:
Use Your iPad Regularly
For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).
Elsewhere, Apple elaborates and explains that two half-discharges (or four quarter-discharges, etc.) equals one full discharge. -
Activation error on FaceTime and Messages on iPad Air with new Apple ID
I have successfully configured my 2014 MBP, 2010 Macbook Air, and iPhone 6 to use the new Apple ID. I found a service bulletin from Dec 22, 2014 entitled "If you get an error when trying to activate iMessage or FaceTime". It doesn't strictly apply because I cannot turn off FaceTime and Messages since they are not turned on. I have IOS 8.1.2 on the ipad. I have tried 'reset all settings' and 'erase all content and settings'. I have also tried reloading 8.1.2 from iTunes, all to no avail. Is it a problem with an Apple Server? Is there anything that I can do?
Actually there is likely nothing that you can do since the program is free apps per device and your relative has basically stolen your free apps.

Facetime and Messages problems,
Hi guys,
i've a lot of troubles with Facetime and Messages connections by my apple ID.
Somtimes, is appeared a NETWORK ERROR MESSAGE, but my network is okay and i can connect to these features by Iphone.
I've read the support, but i didn't correct the situation.
Any ideas?
Thanks to all!!Look at iOS Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
Also try this - Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

I upgraded my i0s but I can't sign in facetimes and messages on my iPod touch and my iPod nolonger syncs to install apps from my computer how do I have it work normally ?
FaceTime, Game Center, Messages: Troubleshooting sign in issues
Regarding syncing:
What exactly happens when you try to sync?
Does iTunes see the iPod?
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
How did you update the iOS? Did you do it via wifi? Via iTunes on the computer?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Does any media now sync to the iPod?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?
iTunes: Syncing media content to iOS devices and iPod
Try syncing using the manual method
Managing content manually on iPhone, iPad, and iPod
Backup and restore from backup. See:

Having difficulty connecting my Ipad to FaceTime and messages. I've updated the latest software and have WI-FI/3G coverage but it keeps saying: "could not sign in, please check your network connection." Can anyone help?
Have you tried a reset? Hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go.

i have an iphone 5s and my kids have ipod touches. How do i set up the ipods to use facetime and messaging without it going through my iphone or rather using my apple id? Is this possible? Does each device need its own apple ID and/or icloud email?
Try unchecking your phone number and email address (if present) under You can be reached by FaceTime (iMessage) at in Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and Settings>FaceTime on their devices. Also uncheck their email address (if present) on your phone.
Otherwise have them use separate Apple IDs for these services (tap the ID, sign out, sign back in with a different ID). You can do this and still share the same ID for other services such as iTunes. -
