  • Facetime Bug Report, OS X Yosemite

This is probably a bug report but my question would also be if anyone knows of a workaround.
    System:
21.5" iMac, OS X Yosemite, 12 GB of RAM with a 64 GB iPhone 6
Bug report:  FaceTime using an iPhone 6 for outbound calls.  For conference calls requiring a passcode, FaceTime stumbles recognizing passcode keystrokes from a keyboard.  It works maybe 20% of the time.  I suggest having a keypad widget under the phone call window (like Skype) could help.
    Is there a workaround?

Do not make bug reports here. These are only user forums. You can file a BR via Apple Feedback or through Bug Reporting - Apple Developer.

  • FaceTime bug or by design?

Prior to iOS 7 you could select if you wanted to FaceTime somebody's phone number or email address. Now that option seems to have disappeared and both the email and number  receive the call.
If I turn the email receiving address off on my iPad the FaceTime call still rings.
The problem with this is now my iPad rings with EVERY FaceTime call to my mobile. The only way to prevent this is to turn off FaceTime on my iPad. In fact the same thing happens on my Mac now, so I have had to turn that off too!
In a nutshell, how can I FaceTime just a phone number and not email address in iOS 7?

Nope.  That doesn't resolve the problem I am talking about.
Let's take your iPad setup.  You have unticked your email address and only want to be contacted by your phone number - just like me.
Now, let's assume I have your contact details in my phone.
In pre-iOS 7 I would select either your email or  mobile number from the contacts app and your iPad would or would not ring depending on how I chose to contact you.
If you look in the contacts or FaceTime app in iOS7, there is no option for me to select how to contact you.  All I have is a FaceTime button.
So, when I now try to FaceTime you it automatically calls your email AND mobile number and your iPad will now pick up the call regardless!!
I have 4 Apple devices here, iPhone, iPad, iMac and Air.  I have only configured my iPhone to pick up FaceTime calls by the phone number, all my other devices are set to only answer by email.
Now, when somebody calls me using an iOS 7 device, all of my devices ring - A bit of a pain if I', out of the house with only my mobile in my pocket.
    There is the problem!

  • Someone else receives my facetime calls

    Hi,
Since last saturday (3rd May 2014), I see that somelse is making and receiving my facetime calls. The first time, I saw on the phone of my girl friend that she was receiving a Facetime call from my account AppleID. This call was not coming my own phone. Both these phones (the one of my girl friend and mine) were one next to the other when we received this call.
Than we did some tests. When she called me on Facetime, sometime another person has responded (seems to be a little boy).
It seems both our phone received the call (mine and the one of the little boy) and the first who respond take the call, the other don't.
I don't know if my text on iMessage are concerned. No proof of that for the moment, but I have dought.
This little seems to be French, like me. And so I have a theory but I'm not sure of that. I think this little boy has got my previous phone number. Even if this is the cause, I don't know how to resolve it.
Please, could someone help me to recovery the property and the use of my Apple ID on Facetime ?
    Thanks.
    Teihotum

It is happening the same to me. I've been receiving FaceTime calls from my gf account for a few weeks, but it's not her. A guy with a mask is making the calls, but I am not sure he is american, since I am not able to understand what he says.
At the beginning I thought it was a FaceTime bug because I started receiving calls while I was already talking on FaceTime with my gf, so I didn't care at all and obviously I didn't answer. But last Friday the iPhone rang again and I answered and saw this guy.
We've been to the Apple store and we've called the customer care maybe 10 times and no one is surprised at all. Is it so common and normal that someone uses your Apple ID to call your relatives and/or your partners??
They just answered that you have to change simply your password, but this doesn't solve anything. In fact, the guy called again a few hours ago and the Apple senior manager decided to transfer our call to the network operator.
I'm totally disappointed with the answers from Apple, since the operators aren't able to avoid future calls from the guy and to dissociate his devices from my gf's icloud account!
I would be very grateful if someone could help me to manage this weird situation.
    Thank you very much!

  • I updated my Iphone 5c to iOS 7.0.3 and it wont start

I updated my Iphone 5c to iOS 7.0.3 and it wont start

Yes. I did the same thing and stupidly forgot to back up my phone to my computer. The 7.0.4 update said "fixes a small Facetime bug" so I assumed, like an idiot, that it was just a tiny nothing update. No problem. Then my phone immediately went into "You have to Restore from Factory Default" mode and all my pictures from the last 3 months are gone forever. *****. Thanks Apple.

  • What does mean the itune icon with a cable in the iphone screen?

what does mean the itune icon with a cable in the iphone screen?

I'm having exact same problem. I was installing the latest ios7 update (to fix some Facetime bug that I don't have) and this happened. I noticed in some other posts on similar problem to hold down the sleep and on buttons at the same time and tried that. No change. Then I plugged it into my laptop and it said it was in recovery mode. I'm now in the process of restoring the software.
I really hope I haven't lost all my contacts, notes, and photos.

  • My ipad just won't let me enter my apple password on FaceTime or iMessage, it works fine on my iPhone, I have tried numerous things but nothing works, can anybody help please, will a bug fix sort this out when they finally make one

My ipad just won't let me sign in with my apple password on FaceTime or iMessage since updating to ios7 it says check my network connection, even though my iPhone works fine with the same password, can anybody help please, I have tried numerous things but nothing  works.  Will I have to wait for a bug fix to sort this? I hear they are working on one a the minute, I hate ios7

    Try a Restart.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
    Resetting your settings
You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends this only if you are unable to restart it.
Or if this doesn't work and nobody else on the blog doesn't have a better idea you can contact Apple.
Here is a link to their contacts with most of the information below.

  • IPhone 5 iOS 6 FaceTime on wifi and 3G bug

Think this is a bug. I have iPhone 5 with latest IOS 6.0.2 I think.
When I have 3G mobile, but not data enabled and I have a wifi connection FaceTime does not work and says 'connecting' but no connection is ever made.
If I change the settings to 3G with data or wifi only with no 3G then FaceTime works.
At home I have a 3G signal booster connected to my router as I have poor mobile coverage in my area do the 3g signal booster is a must have.
I don't like having 3G data on as well though as this drains my battery quickly and is expensive on data costs From my provider.
Tried to log a bug with apple this is easy to replicate.

    using facetime http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4319
    troubleshooting facetime http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3367
So if I understand you correctly when you have 3G data turned off and on wifi - you can't use facetime.
YOu can use wifi for facetime - the other party needs to be on wifi or cellular data.
You can use cellular data for facetime only if your cell providers offers that.

  • Facetime Authorization Bug iTouch

Is there any offical Apple response to the Facetime Authorization Bug on the new iTouch ? Searching around the web it seems to be a common enough problem but there doesn't seem to be a real solution to the problem other than restore , restart etc etc which never seems to work. I've got two other iTouches which I've setup and facetime works great but with the the 3rd iTouch it never connects.

I've solved this problem in the last couple of hours by simply taking the iTouch in question back to Target getting it replaced with a new one. The new one signs into facetime first time with the exact same Apple ID. My suggestions to anybody having the same problem would be to return your iTouch to the store and get a new one as it's obviously to do with the device and nothing to do with the Apple ID.

  • Major Bug FaceTime in iOS 7 with 2 devices

I have 2 iPhone 5 devices one is work one is my personal one, each has its own phone number and its own Apple ID (Not Shared Between The 2) in iOS 7 now whenever someone facetimes me because the 2 numbers come under the same contact card both phones ring as there is no option to choose which number to call it just calls all that persons possible phone numbers/email addresses.
This is really annoying and we tested this last night if we remove my work number and email from the contact card then only my personal one rings.
I cant imagine i am the only person with this issue and whilst the contact card could be split out and have my work details seperate whats the point of having all someones details under one contact.
Incredibly annoying and causing a problem as I like to keep my work & Personal phone seperate hence the 2 Apple ID's.

Problem here too. I'm getting face timed on all my devices even though I have the " you can be reached by facetime at" with different number and email address.  It would be nice if Apple gave users the choice to what facetime we would like to call.  Wonder why they took it out for this update.  Someone help please

  • FaceTime Audio lock screen bug

I figured out that when I'm on a FaceTime Audio call on my iPad in landscape mode, every time I lock the screen the call information shifts to the right about an inch and will eventually go completely off the screen. I'm using iOS 7.1. It doesn't happen in portrait mode.

Even if you get rid of your passcode you'll still have a lockscreen.

  • FaceTime sleep bug on ios8

WWhen calling my parents iPad mini on FaceTime it fails to ring if the iPad has been closed and a sleep for a while. It just shows as missed call. If it's open or just recently closed it rings Fine. They are always able to call me as well.
I searched internet and tried all sorts of things. Nothing solves this.  It used to work fine.

Hi, I have the same problem. when making a FaceTime, the caller always gets poor connection after a few seconds.
i Found out that if you call using audio and then switch to video afterwards it doesn't do it.
    hope this helps!

  • Iphone 5 restore bug - unable to activate imessage or facetime

I have the iphone 5 and it will activate imessage and facetime if i treat it like a new device. If i try to lod a backup from itunes or icloud it wont activate imessage or facetime. Ive tried everything and i just wont work. Hard reset, different networks, different backups etc...  I was upgrading from a iphone 4.  I even updated the old phone ios then backed it up. Then tried to restore the new iphone from that backup and it didnt help
Apple support does not have any solutions. They said it is a glitch and i need to just use the phone as a new phone. Which i was not happy with
Pretty much have to just give up the data from my old phone. :(

I found the fix for the error. Took me a few different tries but I got it to work. You have to completely reset your phone( erase all contect and settings) and set it as a, "new phone". I advise you to copy all the information that you want/need onto iCloud first. After I did this my facetime and imessage worked perfectly! Hope this helps.
On a side note as well your contacts won't be erased either but save them on iCloud just in case.

  • Why can I participate in surveys and post questions, but whee FaceTime or use messaging, I can't. I'm told I have no internet connection...but I do have it...do I have a bug is this a what I call a windows nightmare?

Why can I participate in surveys and post questions, but can' t use FaceTime or messaging  without being told I have no internet connection? However,  my iPad shows full internet connectivity.

Apple has released a document which is reported to address the recent FaceTime issue.
