My FaceTime isn't working properly. Every call I make a black dot appears on the camera in the middle (fixed onto the screen, and is not dirt), and the calls always fail. It would ring 6 times and then say call failed. How can I fix this?
If FaceTime ever worked properly for you, restarting your modem (and separate router/wireless if you have such) may help. If the problem continues, try connecting at a different location to see if the problem is within your wi-fi.
The black dot problem may mean you need to reset your iPod. If that does not help, it may need service by an Apple Authorized Service Provider.
If you need help with any of these suggestions, detailed help on each topic is available via Apple's Support pages:

people often can't reach me. To check this I have tried the Skype test call - it always fails. But it works on my Ipad. what can be wrong on my Iphone but not my Ipad?
ThanksThis became a problem when Call Library Nodes got error terminals (and optional path terminals) in LabVIEW 8.20. I should be able to get a fix in to VI Analyzer Toolkit 2010.
Thanks for taking the time to report the bug.

Initial video/voice call always fails
Hi,
Every time I intiate either video or voice call, I keep getting "calling" signal with no response. During that time I can't disconnect and forced to wait for applicaiton to disconnect call. Other party can't answer it. It also applies when I call landlines too...Running on Windows 8, Skype version 6.21.0.104. Tried to reinstall it and get the same problem. I don't have this problem when I run skype on my iphone. Please help! Thanks!shippo_uk,
I am having the same trouble but only when at home. After Apple changed my phone and the problem continued I looked in to other things and found that when WiFi is switched on in Settings I always have to redial, when Wifi is off it calls first time no problem.
Even though this only started since the 4.1 update, Apple are blaming my Sky Router which doesn't help.
Might this be the same problem for you? Did you get yours sorted? -
My facetime its always scratchy, help please?!
At first I did not have this problem, but recently my facetime is super scratchy and sometimes i can barely even hear the person im talking to! Does any one know why this may be , please help!!
@lllaass Thank you for the reply. they just messaged me this:
"Thanks for reporting! Please contact us via:http://bit.ly/ukGVJ0 for further assistance. "
I've done checking on that. What I'm worried about is, Is there any way to fix the "timeout" in Viber? it just keep on loading and loading then the application will timeout.
I need my contact and important messages that stored in Viber.
I can still get the notifications but the problem is, Its not opening enymore. I tried to use the Viber on desktop but its not supporting the history of conversations in Viber Mobile.
so now, I can barely read my Viber messages that I received thanks to the "Notification"
no more no less. -
Why cant i get a facetime call to connect?
I cant get my mac book or iphone to connect a facetime call why please help?
Hey dpowers23,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing issues with FaceTime on multiple devices. Because the issue can be reproduced on multiple devices, you may need to troubleshoot network-related issues:

I was trying to FacceTime my friend and it was the usual screen that you get when you recieve a FaceTime call. I hit 'Accept' and it says connecting but, it always ends up saying, 'Connection Lost' or 'FaceTime Failed'. When I try and FaceTime them back it says connecting but again, says 'Connection Lost' or 'FaceTime Failed'. And help on what to do?
There have been numerous reports of FaceTime connection issues for the last few days and it is unclear what the cause is. Following is one of many discussions of the issue: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6096640?start=120&tstart=120

Facetime Calls Fail to connect-need Network update help
Since we got a new desktop computer (PC) facetime calls come in but fail on connecting on all of our devices. Wifi access otherwise works fine. We have 2 iphone 4s-1 on IOS 6 and one on IOS 7 and two ipads-one on each IOS and the problem is universal so I know I don't need to update IOS as all help says you have to as a first step (it's the apple version of reboot). Anyway, all devices work fine on my office network so it's clearly our home network is somehow blocking facetime. Looking at the network settings on the ipad vs PC Network properties, the last digit of the IP address is different but it's not editable. I tried forgetting the network and going to settings>general>reset>reset network settings and nothing seems to have changed. Our router is cable company supplied and I don't know anything about setting up or changing network settings, there's nothing immediately obvious to change on that screen. Found some help stuff on AirPort utility but it's way above my head-I have no idea if it even applies to a PC...any help/ideas? I'm barely computer literate (obviously) so beyone poking around in the control panel, I'm stuck.
Since all your devices have the same problem, the cause must be something in your router or at your ISP. Something is blocking the required traffic.

My iPad Air always freezes during FaceTime calls using wifi. I switch to my iPhone 5c on the same wifi, and it never freezes while I'm sitting in the same location. Is there maybe a setting I have that is causes this? I am up to date on the OS 7.1.1. Video and audio is froze on my end, only video freezes on the other end. It doesn't make a difference who makes the call either.
No, there isn't any setting that you are missing. Have you tried force closing FaceTime, and resetting your iPad?
In order to close FaceTime, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If that does not make a difference, you could try resetting all settings, if you reset all settings you will have to enter all of the device preferences again in the settings app. That takes some time to accomplish, but you will not lose my data, media, apps or anything like that. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings.
If that doesn't help, the next step would be to restore the iOS software. Backup your iPad first, restore the iOS, then restore the backup.
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings -
FaceTime Failed - Your Computer is Busy in another Facetime Call
Hi Everyone!
Here's the deal! My mom's iMac on Lion 10.7.1 cannot initiate nor receive Facetime calls.
When I call (iPad2, iPhone4):
FaceTime Failed:
<xxxxxxx> is not available for FaceTime
When she tries to call me:
FaceTime can't initiate the call. Your computer is busy in another facetime call.
She gets this message, even after rebooting her computer.
I made sure that her credentials are logged in under the Users/Groups tab. MobileMe has the credentials as well. Firewall is Off. So I am at wit's end right now as to what to do next.
Any and all advice is greatly appreciated! I need this FaceTime to work since I travel a lot, and don't always have access to my MBP and iChat Video (which works).
Cheers!Just LOG OUT the user and then log back in.... That worked for me!

i use a macbook pro which came with facetime i have an iphone 4S as well. whenever i use the wireless on my iphone i can facetime with ease however when i use the same wireless for my mac to facetime the call always gets disconnected.
To use factime on your Mac, I believe you will need to use your email address to do so instead of your wireless number. Since you can't make calls on the Mac.

Facetime call between Macbook and Iphone 4 failing.
I'm using OSX 10.6.4 and placing a facetime call to an Iphone 4 using iOS 4.1. The call goes through and connects and we are able to talk for 15 seconds or so. Then it freezes and I get a call failed notification. Any fixes for this? My firewall is off by the way.
Not sure what the fix is. I believe the FaceTime app for the Mac remains a BETA.
If the firewall off with the wi-fi network the iPhone 4 is using as well, or the ports required are available and not being blocked with the wi-fi network the iPhone 4 is using? -
Hi can anyone help me with a problem...I can't make FaceTime calls but have no problem receiving them? Any ideas?

I reset my phone and it now receives calls that were meant for my husband. I know how to fix this with messaging and facetime, but can't seem to find how to make it stop with the calls. Please help.
It may be due to Continuity
The following quote is from Connect your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch using Continuity
Turn off iPhone cellular calls
To turn off iPhone Cellular Calls on a device, go to Settings > FaceTime and turn off iPhone Cellular Calls.
