FaceTime call received from my wife - it wasn't my wife!!

Hi everybody/anybody - last night I was (not so) pleasantly woken (at 11:40pm grrrr) by a FaceTime call from my wife. Interesting I thought, why would she call me from the living room. Imagine my surprise when I picked up the call and saw a hairy ars*d man! Through more than half asleep eyes I thought, she's let herself go a bit, before realising, hang on, that's not the wife!! Maybe she has been abducted I thought so I did the only thing any sane man would do, I dropped the call! Straight away, my wife, aka Mr.Hairy is calling me again so I answer it as I walk to the living room. As it's pitch black, I'm assuming Mr.H can't see me but I can see him and I await the ransom demands as I approach my wife who has fallen asleep (at least I hope she has only fallen asleep and I wasn't the next main character in a Simon Kernick novel!) She woke as the phone call died and thankfully, no harm had befallen her but I am at a loss as to what on earth happened.
We've changed the password on her appleID just in case but I'm assuming that this was just some sort of glitch on the system (bit like a 'crossed line' from way back when).
Has anybody else come across this sort of FaceTime behaviour or have any ideas what on earth happened here or have any advice on whether I need to do anything else to stop strange men calling me from my wife's phone in the middle of the night :"-)
Cheers in advance!
Lee

If there is somebody with an answer, it may well take longer than four minutes. There's no queue of staff waiting for your post, just us users who pop in when we feel like it.
All I can tell you is that your phone is not hacked, unless you have given it to someone for long enough for them to jailbreak it.

  • Hi my iphone 4s keeps droping facetime calls and restarting my wifi router home and work. does anyone else have this issue?

I previously had the iphone 4  and on the same routers never droped a facetime call nor did my wifi router restar... is this a 4s issue??? pls help

I'm willing to bet it's dropping the connection because the router is rebooting. Try updating the firmware of the router. If that doesn't stop it re-starting spontaneously, I'd look into a new router.

  • How does a voice gateway handle a call received from CUCM?

For example, I have a voice gateway configured via a SIP trunk as a device in CUCM. When our users dial the international pattern (8011!) and CUCM forwards that to the device(gateway) over the SIP trunk, how does the gateway handle that request in terms of matching dial-peers? Is it handled the same way a call incoming from the PSTN would be? By matching the destination pattern?
Ultimately what I'm trying to do is figure out whether our international calling is configured properly but that's difficult to do If I don't know what the gateway is doing with the call once it receives it from the CUCM.
    Thanks in advance!

Thanks, we have a conference call Monday and I'll try some debugging to see what's going on. I am a little more confused now if that's possible because my understanding is that they can make INTL calls but based off of the configs I've seen and what you've told me they should be able to. Below are my configs. There is a translation profile applied but it points to a blank rule. I also didn't see any transformations in the route pattern.

  • My new IPhone 6 will not receive a call from my wife's phone

I have a new IPhone 6. It will receive and ring all calls except from my wife's IPhone 5?
    Her number is not blocked.
    Any help?

Can your wife make phone calls to others? If her number is not blocked on your device, there is no reason you should not receive a call from her, unless she cannot make calls to others. A block would be the only reason you should not receive a call. Check with your carrier to make sure there is no restriction on their end.

  • My iPad is randomly placing FaceTime calls when not in use

I got an iPad for my birthday and all is well except while I'm at work and my iPad is at home, my iPad will place calls to people.  I've been at my desk at work when my iPhone (which is sitting on the desk ... locked and nowhere near my hands) will show a FaceTime call coming from myself.  Since I didn't have this problem before I got the iPad, I am assuming it is my iPad placing the call.  Upon returning home, I can see the calls on the iPad and will get texts from friends and family saying I kept FaceTiming.  Aside from disabling FaceTime (I still want to use it ... only on my terms!), what the heck?

iOS 7 defaulted a lot of stuff to on htat you may not need. Such as background app refresh, background app updates and tons of notifications. You might want to look  in the settings and check.

  • Received a Facetime Call from My Stolen Macbook Pro Today - Trackable?

    Long Story Short:
My 15" Macbook Pro was stolen recently on July 28th 2011 while travelling to Boston .
    Today:
My [wonderful!] 12 year old sister, who has been attempting to facetime my Mac from her iPod Touch since that time had a weird/(hopefully great?) thing happen
    - After a few attempts at calling my username with no answer, someone who was logged into MY account actually called her back. When answering the call, the camera was covered with hands, she was able to get a screenshot though it probably may not help much.
    - My immediate thought was to try and track the incoming IP where the call was made from. So after calling my ISP (Verizon FIOS) I was told that they had no record of any incoming/outgoing IP addresses communicating with my computer (I hope I'm describing it correctly)...which I know can't be true.
    - iPod Touch was connected through WEP Wifi to our Verizon FIOS Router.
    - I have already called the Philadelphia Police who are conducting an investigation into this. Waiting to hear back.
    - Am also going to visit my Local Police to see what they can do
I am wondering if anyone can help point me in the right direction to track the IP of the call that was made. Any software which I can install to track any FUTURE incoming communication for the next time I try and call my account back.
    Thanks in advance!

  • HT204053 Hi, my husband has downloaded ios7 and now he is receiving my iMessages/facetime calls.  Obviously we both use the same apple Id.  How do i keep using the same apple id on both devices, but disable my iMessages etc from his phone??

My husband has upgraded ios7.  His iphone and mine have the same apple id.  he has activated "icloud" which i have never activated before.  He is receiving my imessages and facetime calls. How do i disable this yet still continue using our shared apple id on both devices????
    thanks

Short term solution, do this on both devices
Settings > iCloud > Shut off anything you don't want shared
    Long term solution (actual solution)
You need seperate Apple IDs for iCloud. iTunes and iCloud are not the same.
    Create a new Apple ID > https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/
On one of the devices go Settings > iCloud > Delete Account > Sign in with the new Apple ID
This will seperate your Contacts, Calendars, Messages etc.
You both can continue to use the same Apple ID for iTunes and share apps and music

  • I can not receive FaceTime calls from my mac when i call it from my iPhone

it was all fine and now i can't recieve facetime calls but i can make them, doe it matter if i have the same email on my mac and my iphone?

You should have a separate, verifyible e-mail address for your Mac, and a separate, verifyible e-mail address for your iphone.  Having the same address for both can cause the issue you're having.

  • Ipod touch won't ring receiving FaceTime call when in standby

I am trying to FaceTime one touch from another. If the one receiving the 'call' is in standby it will not ring. If I take it out of standby or disable locking then it rings normally. I am assuming this is because it loses the wifi connection when sleeping? Is there a way to keep it connected? Is there a way to receive FaceTime calls when in standby mode?

    Welcome to Discussions, mjl4321
My iPod touch rings and displays the incoming FaceTime screen from sleep. Yours should, too.
Here are some things you can consider:
    • If you are using both on the same LAN, try moving one to another wi-fi location. Some users report problems when using more than one FaceTime device simultaneously on the same LAN.
    • If you have multiple devices on your network, check with your ISP for this possibility:
        http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2460
    • Might you merely not be hearing the call? I changed my ringtone to a louder sound and turned the ringer volume to maximum so my partially deaf ears could hear the call if I happened not to be looking directly at my iPod when a FaceTime request was received.
    • Do you have a solid wi-fi connection with minimal interference? I occasionally need to refresh my wi-fi connection. In my case, I think this is due to interference from my nearby neighbors, but interference can be caused by portable phones, microwave ovens, and a variety of other electrical sources:
        http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1365
To refresh, turn Settings > Airplane Mode ON and then immediately back OFF.
Of course, if you lose wi-fi while your iPod is sleeping, you will not know when you need to reset. However, if connected apps ever stop working while you are using them, this may be your problem during sleep, too. You can try the suggestions in the link above to see if you can eliminate the problem.
    • If nothing works for you, ask your retailer or Apple Authorized Service Provider to check whether your iPod may need service.
BTW, your posted system info shows "new ipod touch  iOS 4". If this is correct, you should update to iOS 4.1. If it is wrong, you can correct the info in the "My Settings" link in the upper right part of the page whenever you are logged into Discussions.

  • Could not disconnect from a FaceTime call on 5S running iOS8.0.2

Received a FaceTime call this morning. Caller was using an iPhone 5S running iOS7. I have a 5S running iOS8.0.2
Once complete neither of us could disconnect from the call. The usual "red button" was not operating. I finally powered off my phone and that forced the disconnect. Both phones now seem OK, but we have not used FaceTime since.
Additional: I was on a home WiFi at the time. Caller was on the Verizon Cell system (no WiFi at that end.)
    Anyone else have this problem?

  • Account will send but not receive Facetime calls

I have an old iMac running Snow Leopard and a New iPad.  I have an Apple account for my wife and one for myself.  I can recieve Facetime calls on my wife's account when I send it from my account, but I cannot receive messages on my account when I send it from my wife's account.  It says I am "not available".
It doesn't make a difference which device we use to send the call the same problem persists, so it seems to be an account problem and not a hardware problem.
    Any suggestions?
