hi guys apple released all the much needed features in iphone 4 but onething missing is facetime calls over 3g ...
is there any chance of getting facetime over 3g with ios updates releasing in the future ?

No one here would know, we're all users just like you. Most likely the biggest hurdle here is the carriers supporting this feature not the phone or iOS.

Facetime will not use the cellular network (if using AT&T) for the iphone 4, 4S or 5 unless you have signed up for ATT's new data share plan. They stated this several weeks ago when there was talk about Iphone5/IOS 6 and Facetime. Your carrier is the one that decides if Facetime will work over the cellular network or not. You might want to contact them. Your other option is to continue using it via wi-fi.

You will need to contact Sprint and find out what data plan you need.
I'm with AT&T with unlimited data in order for me to use cellular data for facetime, I would need to sign up for a different plan.

FaceTime calling the right name - but the wrong person

I've seen a few threads of folks having their FaceTime dial a random person (mostly on iOS 7), but I had something even more troubling happen to me this past week. I tried to FaceTime with my sister/niece. The call rang on my end, and a few seconds later, a random person picked up on the other end. At first, I just assumed it was a friend of my sister's who was over at their house. But we quickly discovered that the call had connected to a different person who shares my sisters name (first and last). We exchanged awkward pleasantries and hung up. I then tried my sister again, who said the initial FaceTime call from me rang on her end, but then quickly disconnected. Not sure how the call got re-routed to someone else OF THE SAME NAME -- but a weird (and troubling) occurrence.

What is the minimum data speed of wifi required to make facetime call

what data plan should i take to make facetime call from india to US .............
i am asking as in 500kbps or 700kbps for the wifi network

much will depend on whether they will be using forms or self-service modules. We have many employees connecting through dial-up using self-service. However, while it's possible, I wouldn't want to run forms over a slow connection.

Headphone volume too loud in Facetime calls - iPad Mini Retina 7.1.1

Hi,
I have an iPad Mini Retina Space grey 32GB Wifi version updated to the newest iOS 7.1.1.
I've noticed that the headphone volume during Facetime calls is always extremely loud even on lowest volume setting and there's no way to lower the volume further down. It's independent of the person I call, and the same problem appears in both in Facetime video and Facetime audio calls.
The bug only appears in the Facetime app and only after inserting the headphones and (not noticable when using the speaker). Setting a volume limit in Settings doesn't affect this loud volume during Facetime calls. I've tried 3 different headphones and I've also done a full reset of the iPad and setting up a completely new iCloud account.
I also have an iPad Mini (1st gen) and an iPhone 4 and I don't experience this bug on those devices.
Have anyone experienced the same bug? Any solution?

pandora? once I got used to it, it bacame second nature to simple reach over and toggle the hotspot off and on. not great if you have the constant need, but if you have the constant need, it wouldnt be shutting down in the first place.
If this is a big issue for you, and there is no persistant wifi available, you might think about a standalone portable hotspot. Pretty much every carrier in the US has one they would be happy to sell you, along with a data plan.
(look on e bay for a used one )

you can check with Samsung they will provide all type of features which will help them to grow more popular then apple .

No clue why you cannot make video calls over your cellular operator... have you tried contacting them?
If you're referring to FaceTime, it is currently limited to Wi-Fi only.
Sending files via Bluetooth is not a supported feature of the iPhone or iOS. A simple search of the web or these forums would have made that abundantly clear.
Threatening to throw away valuable items in these forums only serves to make you look less than intelligent. No one here is an Apple employee, we are all users like yourself. As such, we could care less what you do. If you choose to be stupid, that's up to you.

NO you can't forward the call.
You will have to answer on your Mac. Whomever is calling you will need to use your apple id, to use the computer for facetime.

Video calling over 3rd party apps

As an avid apple believer I want to do everything with my apple products, including make video calls to my parents overseas. Now while I understand that apple is bringing facetime to 3g in the furture for now no such luck. Normally there is "an app for that" but there isn't any third party video calling app for Iphone 4. What are my options.

As for FaceTime Apple should seriously reconsider updating the iOS to support video calling over 3G instead of just WIFI which is not readily available. Most international carriers already support HSPA+ which provides sufficient bandwidth and speed to allow video calling over 3G as already proven by Tango and Skype.

Facetime calling with other users

Is there a way to know that another contact has Facetime capability also? I have a contact set up but do not know if they have Facetime also to use the Facetime feature. If I make a call to a a contact who does not have Facetime, what happens? Do they see it as a normal call or do you simply get disconnected?

Not unless you know a contact has an iPhone 4. The iPhone includes an iPhone label for a contact's phone number in addition to the standard mobile label for a cell phone.
Since FaceTime can be done over wi-fi only, if trying to initiate a FaceTime call without placing a regular call first and the person you are calling is not an iPhone 4 user or if an iPhone 4 user with their iPhone not connected to an available wi-fi network at the time, nothing happens on the other end.
Best to place a regular call first and ask - do you have an iPhone 4 and if so, change the label for the contact's mobile phone number entry to iPhone with the contact's info, and then ask are you connected to an available wi-fi network. If the answer is yes to both, you can switch to FaceTime from the regular call.

You may not be able to. There seems to have been an issue with facetime over the weekend, and going by the number of people having issues It's likely that it's something Apple needs to fix.

Just had my iPad for a week now and for some strange reason i am unable to make FaceTime calls but i can receive them.
I connect through my Wi-Fi everything else seems to work great.
Also when i click on the FaceTime app and i try to make a call, i get prompt with "Mobile Data Account" which asks me to set up a data plan.
Doesn't Facetime work over Wi-Fi?
Do i have to sign up for mobile data plan just to make FaceTime calls?
