Facetime camera settings on Macbook Pro Retina

Just purchased a new Macbook Pro Retina 13".  FaceTime camera settings do not permit adjusting picture.  The image is terrible.  How can I correct this, or is reliable third party software available for this purpose?

  • Facetime and iMessage on Macbook Pro Retina display slow after Yosemite 10.10.3 Update

    Hi
I recently updated my Macbook Pro Retina display to Yosemite 10.10.3 update. I see that the Facetime and iMessage has become relatively very slow. Like for example when someone calls on my phone it takes like more than 15 seconds + to show up on my macbook. Earlier it used to be like instant!
I started seeing this problem on Yosemite 10.10.3 update only. Also the same is the story with iMessage. When I get an SMS or an iMessage from my friends it takes like a good 30 seconds + to show up on my macbook pro.
Just for your information, this is the version of macbook i am using
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013)
    2.4 GHz Intel Core i5
    8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    251GB Flash storage
As Suggested by someone I also tried RESETTING my computer's PRAM. That didn't seem to help either. Can anyone help. If it is a genuine bug in Apple Yosemite, I'd like to file a bug in the community.
    Regards

  • Best preference settings for MacBook Pro Retina Mid 2012 with 2.7 Ghz Core i7 processor 16GB memory Nvidia GeForce GT 650M 1024MB processor

    (using latest AE CC2014)
I have a MacBook Pro Retina Mid 2012 with 2.7 Ghz Core i7 processor 16GB memory Nvidia GeForce GT 650M 1024MB processor, doing some heavy AE renderings and just realized that this machine says it has 8 Cores? I'm had not yet turned on Multprocessing in Preferences Should I be?
Should I leave 1 or 2 cores for other applications?
RAM allocation per background CPU is defaulted set to 3GB
Also for Adobe Media Encoder: in preferences under Video Rendering /Rendere it is set at Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (OpenCL) is that the best config for this computer?

    How much ram?
The best settings depend on what you are working on. Here are mine for a nearly identical system:
It's usually best to keep memory blocks in 4GB blocks. If my workflow is more in other apps I'll switch out other apps to 8 gb if things start to slow down. Because of my usual project settings I keep MP turned off on this machine, but for some projects I'll turn it on. If you decide to experiment to MP then keep an eye on the Actual CPU's that will be used and make sure the numbers add up. Other applications and Actual Cores should add up the the total in your system.

  • Default Color Settings on Macbook Pro Retina

    Hi All,
I am using a 15" MBP Retina. I plugged it to a projecter and I think it kind of changed my display settings and I don't know what they were. What is the default color setting that comes with this ? Is it Color LCD (In System Preferences -> Display -> Color) ?
    Thanks.

  • Facetime not working in macbook pro retina 13"

I have black screen, the camera is off.  I click preferences and nothing shows up.

Looks like the camera never works.  Tried photo booth, skype.  My other MBP will have the camera green light on and I can see myself before making calls.  So disapointed, I spent the most money with full options and the camera is not working.  QA is going down.  This is my 13th Apple devices.

  • FaceTime Camera Images Look Poor on New Macbook Pro Retina Models

I received my new 2012 Macbook Pro Retina display model yesterday. When doing Facetime last night, others on the other end were commenting how poor the image coming from my end looked. Then I tried it on my iphone 4S and it was amazing how much better the picture of me looked on the phone versus the macbook. Today, I went to the Apple store to compare my new computer to the Retina display models on the display. Their camera images honestly didn't look much better than what I have on mine (but for example, the new Macbook Air's images look much more realistic). Why is this? How can the HD Facetime camera in the Macbook Pro produce less realistic images than the lower resolution iPhone 4S or Ipad cameras? Any help or insight you could share would be appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Jason

    Thanks for the update, Jason.
Jason1975 wrote: ... There is definitely a difference between what was seen on the MacBook Pro Retina models on display and what the other sources I mentioned were displaying. Perhaps it has to do with the new display and software that isn't updated yet...
.... Unfortunately, the new laptop has the same issue...
Of course what is seen on Retina versus non-Retina display will be different.  That is a different issue from the video quality your video contacts experience.  However, the fact that you see the same problems at your home on a second new Mac means you will need to do some more extensive troubleshooting involving another trip to the Apple Store.
Rather than merely looking at displays of the live camera, I suggest you compare how the FaceTime video looks when received on your iPhone while in the Apple Store.  If necessary, you should test your new Mac plus some of the Store models, too.  Taking your new Mac & iPhone back the the Apple Store and connecting there will have the added benefit of eliminating possible internet connection issues at your location.
At the Store, you can compare how your new Mac's video transmissions (iChat, FaceTime, etc.) and video from some Store display cameras look on your iPhone as a receiving device.  If all are "bad" on your iPhone, you can also compare video transmissions received on one of the Store's devices to be sure it sees the same video problem as your iPhone.
While connected via wi-fi in the Apple Store, if the FaceTime video transmissions from your new Retina MacBook Pro (RMBP) to your iPhone is lower quality from that of the Apple Store's RMBP FaceTime to your iPhone, it seems to me that the Geniuses should determine whether your new RMBP needs service or (highly unlikely) is a second "bad" Mac that should be exchanged for a RMBP that works properly.  This time, test the fix BEFORE you take it home again.
If, every RMBP you test in the Apple Store looks worse than the video sent from all other devices, you are most likely correct that some software needs to be updated for video quality.
All this testing may take some time, so plan ahead.  Perhaps you want to make a Genius appointment.  However, although the Geniuses were unable to give a definitive answer other than swapping RMBPs during your last visit, they may have since found an official answer to your questions.

  • Green flashing Facetime screen on Macbook Pro Retina.

Long story: Purchased my Macbook Pro Retina in July 2012. No problems until 8 months later. At that time the computer would freeze and I would get the beach ball and have to re-start. I took it in for repairs, they replaced the logic board and reinstalled the OS. After that, whenever doing FT with my fiance in GA to his Macbook Pro, we initially get about 20-30 minutes of clear FT, then his image freezes, then the background around him flashes green, and the the FT screen goes completely green. My image down in the corner is fine, only his is affected. He can see me perfectly from his end and we both can hear each other. When I call him back, everything is fine again for about 2-20 minutes (it varies) before the problem happens again. I am I am now on my second replacement Macbook Pro Retina, but still same problem with FT. Apple is working on it over the phone. Today we tried FT together (me and the apple person) but she covered her camera--so no moving images on her end. Apple wants to see if the problem happens while doing FT with someone else. I am working on that now. What will this prove? I am so frustrated with all the time and energy this is taking on my part.
Please, please, O please...any input would be appreciated.

  • FaceTime Problem - MacBook Pro Retina

Hello everyone, as the title suggests, I have a problem with FaceTime.
During a video call (only a video call, during FaceTime Audio I don't have any problems) I hear and see the other person well, but the other person sees me and feels jerky, sometimes subtle, but sometimes that makes it impossible for the other person to understand me. Tried with three different people.
    how to solve?
It is not a wifi problem because I've tried with the iPhone and it did not give these problems ...
    Thank you!

    Hi there,
I have the same computer as you, and I've noticed the same thing. Both facetime and skype have similar audio issues. I can seem to hear the other side fine, but my audio particularly breaks up a lot.
The audio though my phone is perfectly fine when I facetime though the same network using my iphone. I previously had a 15" macbook pro late 2011 and the audio was fine. I realize the microphones are different in this new retina (late 2013) model - though the audio problems seem to occur even with an external microphone as well.

  • FaceTime on macbook pro retina with Mavericks

I have just bought a 15" macbook pro retina with Mavericks and FaceTime has never worked. My account works fine on my iPad and iPhone but macbook version just won't connect and says 'FaceTime call failed. Can anyone help?

    Hello there, alparkinsonpm.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up a few good steps for troubleshooting FaceTime on your Mac:
    FaceTime for Mac: Troubleshooting FaceTime
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4185
If you encounter issues making or receiving FaceTime calls, try the following:
Verify that FaceTime is enabled in FaceTime > Preferences. If the issue persists, or if you see the message "Waiting for Activation", try toggling FaceTime off and then on.
Verify that the Date, Time, and Time Zone are set correctly:
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences > Date & Time > Date & Time.
    Enable "Set Automatically".
Click the Time Zone tab and confirm the closest city is correct.
Verify that both parties are connected to an active broadband Internet connection.
See Mac OS X: Troubleshooting a cable modem, DSL, or LAN Internet connection.
Consult Using FaceTime behind a firewall for necessary ports to open in firewalls, security software and routers.
If you encounter issues using a Wi-Fi network, use standard Wi-Fi network troubleshooting to resolve interference and other issues.
Verify the phone number or email address being used is the correct one activated for FaceTime. You can verify that you are using a valid Apple ID at appleid.apple.com. You can also create an Apple ID or reset your password from this website.
Verify that both parties have installed the latest software updates for their Mac and/or device. See:
Mac OS X: Updating your software
iOS: How to update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
