Facetime comes up with connection lost on IPAD 2.

Both have the latest operatinng system ios 6, that's Iphone 4 and IPAD 2. When trying to connect to Ipad  from another distant Ipad , it does not connect, neither does the ringer sound.  I have tried at home using my Iphone to ipad as well trying to connect facetime, still connection failure on ipad.   ipad to iphone over wifi at home with a good signal, no response on ipad except - connection lost giving the call back or cancel options.  nothing received on iphone. i have tried putting 8.8.8.8 in the wifi setting on the dns as some website suggested .  when i use my iphone to connect to ipad via face time the ipad opens facetime with ringer - accept does not open dialogue and eventually comes up with connection lost, meanwhile iphone still ringing. So ipad opens facetime but does not connect.  facetime icon on ipad desktop show missed call.  Eventually Iphone says Facetime not available
can anyone help please

I have done everything suggested except restore from my earlier backup.  Situation is still iphone rings ipad, accept on ipad does not - eventually ends with connection lost, while i phone still ringing.
the reverse from ipad to iphone never gets to iphone - but comes up with connection lost - wifi settings on ipad has dns of  n.n.n.n,8.8.8.8.
whats the renew lease setting for?

  • TS1424 Hi guys I'm playing kings of Camelot and I'm trying to purchase gems in the game but every time I try it come up with connect iTunes error how do I fix it I have purchases 2 $30 iTunes cards but I carnt use them it's getting very annoying thanks

Hi guys I'm playing kings of Camelot and I'm trying to purchase gems inside the game but it comes up with connect iTunes error could you please help to fix this problem it's getting very annoying cause I just went out and brought a $60 iTunes card

Ok, thanks that helps. I don't have an external hard drive though. What about backing up through 'the cloud'? I'm just wondering since my husband syncs his iPod to the PC through iTunes and he's worried that he will lose all the songs on his iPod if the library is lost from iTunes and he tries to 'sync' it up again. I'm not exactly sure how to  'copy the entire iTunes folder' either. I kinda suck at this unless I have step by step instructions, which I haven't found yet on iTunes help or other sources.
The only way I know how to back anything up is by going back to a restore point, etc. (as stated before, we don't have an external hard drive.)
    Thanks for the info.

Hi there, I am trying to connect to my server at work from home using a vpn connection. It connects fine and the time ticks along, but when i click go - connect to server, it comes up with connection failed. Please help!

... when i click go - connect to server, it comes up with connection failed.
If you're trying to connect to a Bonjour server on the remote network, that won't work over a layer 3 VPN. Use something like Hamachi or one of the SSH-tunnelling Bonjour proxy apps for that.

  • My iPod classic wont connect to the computer. The light comes on but it doesn't even come up with 'connected' screen. Have tried everything on apple troubleshoot but hasn't helped. Still works in Logitech iPod player. Any suggestions please???

My iPod classic wont connect to the computer. The light comes on but it doesn't even come up with 'connected' screen on the ipod. Have tried different computers, usb cables and ports, as well as restarting computer, updating itunes, and rebooting ipod. Still works in Logitech iPod player, however it has just wiped itself of all songs so at the moment I'm stuck with a useless iPod. Any suggestions please???

If you happen to have a USB docking cable that is new (or close to being new), try using that one.  If the cause is the dock connector on the iPod becoming worn, if you try it with a cable that is not worn, it's possible that it may connect for data.
I believe the dock connector is internally part of the logic board, so it may not be economical to have a repair shop (including Apple Store Genius Bar) do the repair.  You'll need to ask for pricing.
If you are good at such things, this web site has DIY repair guides

If it's the most recent iPod classic, it appears to be quite difficult to pry open.  I have an older 4th gen (and 3rd gen) "classic" iPod, and those are fairly eash to pry open, using the plastic tools.

  • "FaceTime..." Connection Lost - Problem

Hi, so lately like 1-2 times a day when I try to use facetime I call the person & it says "FaceTime..." like it's getting ready to call the person but it doesnt ring or anything & it will say that for like 30 seconds then it says Connection Lost. then like a few hr's later I will try facetime again & it will work. Why does it do that? is their a way I can fix it?

    HI there,
you may want to take a look at the troubleshooting steps fond in the article below.

  • Ever since I upgraded my ipad2 to iOS 6, FaceTime comes up with the pictures sideways.  Even turning the iPad, the picture is 90 degrees off

Whenever I FaceTime,  the pictures are displayed 90 degrees off.  Sometime I can turn the iPad and set the rotation lock and the picture will then be ok.
But last night while the picture of the person I was calling was o.k. The picture of me was upside down for the call.
What am I doing wrong?  This did not happen before I upgraded iOS.

I have no brilliant solution for you because I suffer the same thing - but running Lion 10.7.5 on my MacBook Pro with iTunes 11. Every time that iTunes is updated, syncing becomes more unpredictable for me and I hold my breath hoping that it will work.
I do the same thing that you do - restart everything and that will ultimately get it all to work again. I will be following this discussion to see if anyone else has any great ideas for us both.

  • Safari connection lost on iPad mini

I updated my desk top to Mavericks and now can't connect to safari on my ipad mini?

    Hi melindachris,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
I'm not sure I understand how these two issues are related.   I'm going to share with you a couple of articles that may resolve this issue.
First, close all open apps on your iPad, restart & reset it.

  • Facetime won't allow connection on my iPad and iPhone anymore since loading 7.1. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Facetime won't connect on my iPhone or iPad anymore since loading 7.1.1. Any suggestions?

as of april 16 both parties in a facetime must be running 7.1, so if your recipient hasn't updated their device, even if yours is updated it won't work.

  • For the last week I have had difficulty getting into the Familysearch website with Firefox. It comes up with connection reset. This problem does not occur with either internet explorer or Google chrome. Are you aware of this?

I was told this problem is likely because of an update in coding which IE can read, but Firefox has yet to implement. Is this correct, and if so will it be rectified soon. I much prefer using Firefox than going between to the two search engines as I am having to do at present. Sometimes the home page comes out and the connection times out when processing the request, other times I can't even load the home page

The website's link you provided isn't working here either. Contact the Website's Developers about this issue.

  • "Connection lost" every time I wake from sleep

I bought my MBP with the wireless mighty mouse and for the past 2 or so months I've had no complaints about the bluetooth connection.
Now, every time I wake my computer from sleep the square comes up saying "Connection Lost" at the bottom center of my screen then about 5 seconds after my mouse pairs again.
Why's it doing this? Never did before...
I' not too sure if I'm being to nit-picking or a perfectionist but it just didn't do it before.
Am I crazy or does everyone's do this?
    Thanks
    -Mike

    Hi MIke:
I do not have a similar configuration (I rarely turn mu desktop iMacs off). When I do shut them down, the wireless devices are connected automatically.
However, if your mouse does pair, I would try "normal" troubleshooting as that could possibly cause additional problems.

P.S. I am also curios about anomalies myself!

  • My SMS messages come across with a 4 digit number ...

How do I fix this. It used to work.

I would advise that you keep the 4 digit passcode lock on your iPad.  Just about every day someone comes here who has lost their iPad.  With a passcode on your device, you make it virtually impossible for them to use it at all.
Also, make sure you have enabled Find My iPhone on your device.  This will let you track it or remote wipe it if it gets in someone's hands.

  • Help with connecting to NIST NTP server on port 123

I can get NIST time in Daytime format using the rt_nist_date_time.llb example posted on ni.com, but I cannot connect to NIST NTP format time data using port 123.  I freely admit to being over my head with this stuff, and have spent much of this Thanksgiving holiday reading about UDP and TCP.
The attached vi summarizes what I've tried so far.  The UDP case is what I thought would work, but I can't come up with a network address that the UDP-open vi likes.  Can anyone out there help this n00b tell the time?
The attached file is supposed to be in 8.0 format, although I'm working in 9.0
Here is a link discussing the time formats: http://tf.nist.gov/service/its.htm

THANK YOU!!!  I don't think I ever would have come up with connecting the web address to a Read or Write UDP rather than the Open UDP block.  Not to mention starting by opening port zero.
Unlike TCP, UDP is a connectionless protocol. Here's a quick explanation in different words.
A udp packet travels from a [sourceIP, sourcePort] to a [DestinationIP, destinationPort].
UDP open basically reserves a local port used for sending (soucePort) and receiving (incoming packet with that same destinationPort). Since some local ports are always in use, you would generate an error if you would accidentally pick a used port. Picking zero is useful for requests (as in this case!), because the OS will pick an unused ephemeral port. The actual source port number does not matter because the NTP server will just send the reply packet back to whatever port it came from. (If you would write your own NTP server in LabVIEW, you would of course need to set the local port to 123, and would get a conflict if another NTP server is already running on your rig). Writing an NTP server in LabVIEW would be a trivial modification to the current code, try it! . Simply listen for packets on port 123, form a response packet based on the timestamp, and send it to whatever IP/Port it came from (that info is available from udp read) and then go back to listen for new requests.).
UDP write sends a packet to the server using the above opened local port as source port. You can use the same connectionID to write to several other servers and ports, because UDP is connectionless. (TCP is connection based, so a TCP connection involves a defined source/destination pair)
UDP read listens for incoming packets from all over the world at that same local port. It is very unlikely, but theoretically possible that other UDP packets will arrive at that same port, so you could even filter to make sure to read incoming packets until they match the port and IP of the original request. The current code is somewhat vulnerable to a DOS (denial of service) attack for example as follows: Imagine the guy in the next cubicle had means of sniffing your network traffic. He could write a small program that looks for your NTP requests and then immediately starts flooding your IP with meaningless UDP packets to the sourcePort you just used. The current program only reads one packet and thus will never see the return packet from the NTP server.
UDP close frees up the local port and the computer is now no longer listening for packets on that port. Of course you could keep the port open for the duration of the program, especially if you intend to send UDP request once in a while during execution.
    Makes sense?
