Facetime does not log in.  Goes back and forth between two pages

Created an entirely new Apple ID and password.  On WiFi and good speed.  Not a tech noobie.  When I open Facetime, enter username and pass, select "Sign in"  it will go to the "next" page, and display, "People will call you using your email address....., and displays the email address, with a "next" button at the top.  That page will then quickly disappear, and will go back to the original sign in page.  Nothing happens.  I have tried everything, turning Facetime on and off, resetting the iPad, etc.  Seems that lots of other folks are having problems with this app  too.  Do I need to reinstall IOS 5.0.1?  Please help.  Thanks.

OK, it's now working.  I followed each and every step in the troubleshooting area, including making sure date and time are set properly (they were), and turning on "Set Automatically" (it wasn't), then restarting the device.  Here are the steps.
If you encounter issues making or receiving FaceTime calls, try the following:
Verify that FaceTime is enabled in Settings > FaceTime.
If the issue persists or if you see the message "Waiting for Activation", try toggling FaceTime off and then on.
If you don't see the FaceTime setting, ensure that Camera and FaceTime are not disabled in Settings > General > Restrictions.
Verify that the date and time are set correctly:
Tap Settings > General > Date & Time.
Toggle Set Automatically on.
Verify that both parties are connected to a Wi-Fi network and have an active Internet connection.You cannot make or receive FaceTime calls using a Cellular Data network connection.
FaceTime uses push notifications to send and receive invitations. Verify push functionality using Mail or other applications that use this feature.
Restart the device.

  • Tired of going back and forth between control room, iso booth; suggestions?

    As a solo "artist" in my studio, I'm tired of going back and forth between my control room and iso booth when tracking. I usually have to bring my mic into the control room to get the levels right and then take it back in. And then there's hitting the record button and running in there.
    I've tried ProTransport from Far Out Labs as a device to control my rig from inside my iso booth. It's choppy and doesn't always work, so I'm not a fan (at least not yet). I know there's "ProRemote" from them that lets me see levels too but if ProTransport ($8) isn't smooth/easy, I don't want to lay out $40 or so for ProRemote.
    I tried just having my laptop in the iso booth with all else (preamp, A/D interface, hard drive) on the other side of the wall (cords running through a small hole). This is ok my the laptop still has some noise (and I want to record quiet/acoustic material).
    I've thought about buying an external monitor, keyboard, and mouse and just having those in the iso booth (connected via the hole in the wall), but that would cost money, of course.
    I was just wondering what others in the same situation do.

    I'll add my voice to the chorus, Tranzport. You learn how to use it fairly quickly, it uses bluetooth to connect but will go quite a ways away from the console because it has this 'antenna' to get the signal stronger and closer to your source.
    Now since you also have the problem of controlling mic levels etc... the Tranzport won't control your preamp. For that I use the Universal Audio DCS. This is a piece sent from heaven. GREAT Mic preamps (2 of them) full remote control over them, AND you get to control the headphone mix in the remote control unit. The weird thing is that UA decided to discontinue it, so you might find it on eBay or somewhere for cheap. I am not sure why they discontinued it, it's a wonderful piece of gear.   • Back and forth between two machines

    I need to move PSE9 back and forth on a regular basis between two machines in two seperate locations.  This is not a licensing question. I own 2 copies of the product.
    I point everything to the external drive I use (in terms of edits and saving) and just wanted to be sure I would have no problem on second computer seeing it all open and looking the same.  I just want my data to stay mobile. It looks pretty cut and dried but I want to know about any "gothchas" before I get to second computer.

    So I can't have the catalog on the External drive as well and always
    reference everything from that location? I thought that is what I had done.
    Then, the only "discipline" would be plugging in the External Drive each
    place right?
    I am open to suggestions on this. I just want groupings in organizer and
    that sort of stuff to travel.  Maybe an edit area on the USB that I simply
    import and export back and forth as needed?
    I guess I'm just interested in best work flow for this scenario.

  • My iphone 4 and my girlfriends seem to be sharing messages. The display shows one person typing but it is actually going back and forth between devices. Any ideas?

    We share and icloud and itunes account. But we have seperate carriers and phone numbers obviously.  She sends me a mesage and it comes through on my ipad.  I send her a message and it shows up on her phone as coming from her own number (no name is displayed, just the phone number). And the entire stream shows on her phone on the right hand side in blue as if she was doing all the typing. 
    Then a conversation I was having with another contact showed up on her phone displayed as if she was discussing.  It was not a joint message but this contact is also one of her contacts. And the name displayed at the top was the other contact.  She could join in the conversation too but her messages showed as mine.  The other contact saw all messages but they showed as coming from my email address not imessage.  I recently did the firm ware upgrade but she did not.  Her phone says there is an error when trying to locate it.
    Any messages sent to other contacts by her are only showing to the other contacts and not to me.  And they are displayed properly.
    It only started today and this has never happened before. We have both power cycled a couple times and wiped out all messages to start fresh as well.  Nothing has worked so far.
    Any ideas??

    Note that if you are sharing the same AppleID when you activated iMessage the very first time, then you are literally sharing the same iMessage account.  The primary account ID for iMessage is the AppleID used to verify the service the first time - then it associates phone numbers and email addresses as aliases to that account.
    One of you needs to create a new AppleID and use it JUST for iMessage, so you each have a separate and unique iMessage account to use.  So you can continue to share an AppleID for iTunes and iCloud and all your purchased content, just use different AppleIDs for iMessage.
    If you need another email for AppleIDs (an AppleID is literally just an email address) just grab a gmail account to use.  In iMessage, tap on the AppleID and log off, then log back in with the new AppleID and it will activate a new iMessage account using that AppleID.

    If have a good deal of music and pictures in the primary library of Apple TV, is there any reason why can't for a while switch to streaming additional pictures and photos from iTunes? Does the process involved in doing this act to delete materials in primary library? Understand that can't do both at once.

    A primary library will both sync and stream (with the exception of photos which have to be streamed). Anything in your primary library which you have not opted to sync will automatically stream, unless you have instructed it not to do so. Any content which is currently synced, which is subsequently unchecked for syncing will then be streamed.

  • Why is my ipad 4 suddenly going back and forth between the logo screen and lock screen and wont reset when i hold the power and home buttons down? please help, apple store is very far from my house

    my ipad has never been dropped or overheated, but suddenly the screen went to the lock screen and then the logo screen and it keeps doing that. i tried resetting but its unresponsive. is this a common issue with ipad and whats wrong with it? i was checking the AccuWeather app when this happened and my battery was full if that helps. thanks

    What are the compatibility issues with Premiere CS6 and CC versions?  Can the user go back and forth?  I run a computer lab at a college and we will be upgrading to CC but many students will still be using the older CS6 version of Premiere until we update all the computers....  Will students run into problems?

    It is very simple feature, but I can't seem to figure out where the arrows are to go back and forth between web pages.

    Make sure that you do not run Firefox in Full Screen mode with all toolbars hidden.
    * Press F11 to toggle full screen mode (Firefox/File > Full Screen)
    If the menu bar is hidden then press the F10 key or hold down the Alt key, that should make the menu bar appear.
    Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
    * If items are missing then open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
    * If a missing item is in the toolbar palette then drag it back from the Customize window on the toolbar
    * If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up.

    Could be the charger, cable or iPad. Plug the USB cable into your computer. It may say "Not Charging", however, it is charging slowly and will verify that the cable is good.
    Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
    The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.

    This started a week ago, I turned off my ipod, and it could not be turned back on again. So I held the sleep button and the home button simultaneously for ten seconds, and my iPod responded, the logo appeared. And my iPod worked perfectly for a week, when the same problem appeared last night, I tried to use the tip which I used last week. But a new problem appeared. The logo showed up, and when I tried to type in my password, the logo appear on the screen again, and this just goes back and forth. I can't type in my password. This is driving me crazy, Pleeeeaze, someone please help me!!!!

    It is sad, that back and forth with two fingers does not work in Itunes, Folders, or somewere else than in Safari. You can put the settings back thwo three fingers but than you cannnot mark text with three fingers. It would be nice just to use two finger everywher to go back an forth
