Facetime  error on ipad check the phone number u called to make sure its complete

I have an iphone 5s and an ipad 3 both with the same apple ID and cloud . When someone calls me on facetime they both ring and i can answer from either BUT when i call someone from ipad i get the error "facetime failed check the phone number you called to make sure its complete " while the calling from iphone is normal . THOUGH if  i add an email to a contact i am able to call facetime him from ipad .

Hi Friend,
First, Where are you located and what country did you buy your phone?  Some countries have restricted facetime, ie middle east, UAE.
Check if you signed in Facetime with your Apple ID and password (Settings>>Facetime).
Check if you have signed iCloud in.
Check that FaceTime is not disabled in general/restrictions. If that isn't the problem try changing dns servers on your iPad.
Go to Contacts app and select the person you want call then tap Facetime.
Change your address for your currently location. If not works, change it for your native country or for United States (yes, some users have posted in foruns that after change the location to U.S. Everything works at a glance).
If not works, check if the person who you are trying to Facetime has signed in his/her Facetime too.
Most of times the Facetime calls work calling from your friend's email address instead of mobile number. So try to call your friend both ways (his/her mobile number and his/her email address).
Hope it will be helpful

  • Why does iCal insist on formatting a phone number as a hyperlink? How can I prevent this, and prevent iCal from launching FaceTime in response to entering the phone number in the event box?

I just want to enter a phone number into an event in iCal. I do not want to launch FaceTime. How can I just put a phone number in an iCal event, without OSX 10.10 insisting on launching FaceTime in response to entering the phone number? I use a Macbook Pro.

Ever since I upgraded my iPhone 4S to iOS7, it has basically become a brick.  It constantly freezes, and the home button becomes completely inoperable.  People have suggested a number of fixes for the home button problem ("calibrating", tightening screws, etc.) but none of the fixes solved the problem.  Through trial and error, I've come to realize that the problem is that the phone doesn't have enough computing power and that too much of its RAM gets used up by background processes, causing the phone to freeze.
I have found an app that stops unnecessary background processes currently running, frees up RAM, and lets the phone function properly (Free RAM 1.3). Once I've run this app, the phone functions perfectly.
However, this clean up only happens each time the app is launched (ie: it does not continuously free up RAM).  So, I constantly have to run it (and sometimes am not able to because the phone is frozen and the home button won't work).
When it is running, the app  displays the background processes that are running.  Looking at the list, there are many processes for which I have no need, such as processes related to automatic checking for app updates, processes related to iCloud (which I do not use), etc.  Preventing these processes from running in the first place would go a long way in making my phone more useable (being able to return to a previous iOS would be a better option, but Apple won't allow this).
Here is my question:  is there a way to prevent unnecessary background processes from running at all?
    Which app is this?

  • When I access my contacts and tap on the phone number to call ..... the call immediately drops.... is there a setting set incorrectly?

when I access the contacts and tap on the phone number to call the call immediaely drops...... is there a setting that is not set correctly?

No setting would cause that.  Try resetting your phone (hold the power and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo, then release).

  • TS3367 How do I change the phone number in FaceTime on my iPad?

Somehow my daughters phone number is in my settings. I need to change to mine so that I can receive messages and FaceTime on my iPad how do you change it?

    Hi Lori284,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  You can correct your phone number for FaceTime and iMessage by following this article:
iOS and OS X: Link your phone number and Apple ID for use with FaceTime and iMessage
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5538
First remove the existing phone number:
    Additional Information
    Unlink a phone number
To remove a phone number from an Apple ID, sign out of FaceTime and Messages on your iPhone:
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
This should remove your phone number from other devices using the same Apple ID with FaceTime and Messages. If the phone number is still available on other devices after you sign out of FaceTime and iMessage on the iPhone, you may need to sign out of iMessage and FaceTime on all your devices, then sign in to FaceTime and Messages again on devices you want to use.
Note: If you no longer have access to the iPhone that is using the number you want to remove, reset your Apple ID password.
Then, you can use the top of the article to activate iMessage and FaceTime on the iPhone that uses your correct number.
    Cheers,

  • HT204380 How do I change the phone number associated with FaceTime on my MacBook?

I just recently got a new iPhone 5 with Verizon.  I was on AT&T before and, due to location changes since I got my original 3GS (then 4S, and now 5), I had to change numbers.  If you open Preferences in FaceTime, it has a listing of all the emails and the phone numbers that are associated with my FaceTime account.  Now, I can disable the old phone number from being able to send or receive calls from my Apple account by simply clicking on it and getting rid of the check box next to it.  But, how do I get my NEW NUMBER so that my MacBook receives FaceTime from my fiance's phone, regardless of whether or not she clicks on my phone number or email?  And, before anyone asks, I have already edited my Apple ID account through FaceTime's Preferences to reflect the new phone number.  Nothing changed as a result of doing that.

    HI,
Remove the Apple ID so it itself is not linked to any iPhone number.
Either turn off Messages on the iPhone or place it in Airplane Mode to Break with the server.
On launching Messages again check  the iPhone number is ticked in Settings > Messages > Send and Receive.
    Add the Apple ID.
Once this info appears on the Mac version via the Alert message, then you can add additional emails if required.

  • How do I change the phone number in the iPad?

How can change the phone number in my iPad?

If you have an iPhone on the same icloud account as your iPad, you should be able to connect your phone number to your iPad to get all your iMessages and FaceTime calls there.
First, make sure that both devices are on the same iCloud account.
When they are,  open the settings on your iPhone. Scroll down to "messages" Then, scroll down to find "Send and  receive". Make sure your phone number is listed and check off.
Then, on your iPad, go to settings, and messages again. Find "send and receive". Then, make sure your phone number is checked off in both spots.
You should now be able to send and receive iMessages and FaceTime calls on your iPad from your phone number.
    I hope this helps.

  • How do I change the phone number on my iPad

Somehow my iPad has my daughters phone number on it how do I change it to mine

Only iPhone numbers that are associated with an Apple ID can be used as the number at which you can be reached for FaceTime. I assume that you share an Apple ID with someone that has an iPhone. My wife, daughter and I all have iPhones and we share on Apple ID for purchases. We all use our own respective iPhone numbers for FaceTime and Messages on our iDevices and Macs.
You have to change the number in Settings>FaceTIme>You can be reached by FaceTime at. Select your own phone number in there and uncheck the phone number that is currently showing. If your own number isn't appearing, you will have to sign out of FaceTime on all iPhones and other iDevices associated with the Apple ID and you may have to sign out of Messages as well on all devices. Then you sign in again on the iPhone first in order to make all of the phone numbers accessible in the settings.
This explains how to link your phone number with FaceTime nd Messages.

  • How do I change the phone number for IM and FaceTime?

Since my update to IOS 6 my FaceTime and IM are using my wife's phone number and I can't change it to mine. The email address are editable but the phone number is not. Help?

All of my devises are updated to iOS6. But after reading your reply I tried turning off iM and face time in all three devices, powered them all down for 10 minutes. I turned my phone back on first (the one I wanted associated with my iPad) then turned on my iPad. I turned on iM and face time on my phone, then the iPad. In came up with all my info including my (correct number) phone number. Then I turned on my wife's phone and turned her iM and FaceTime on. Her number also popped up in the iPad but I could choose what number I wanted to use and left hers off. Her phone number is associated with my iTunes acc because we share all of our music and apps. For a little privacy you'll have to make a separate iTunes acc to completely get the unwanted number off the iPad. As long as both numbers are there you can switch between phone numbers and see iM messaging.
So basically the phone numbers in the iPad are edited thru the individual phones, iTunes acc and not the iPad itself.
Hope this helped if you're having the same issue.
