FaceTime everything works just won't connect

Just installed facetime on my 2009 macs, laptop and desktop. Both running 10.6.8. Apple ID sorted and have 2 email addresses both verified.
Both will try to connect to each other but fail to do so. Selected in preferences for each mac to use one of the email addresses. Can't think what else to do.

Hello botanicalgarden
Check out the article below for further troubleshooting and also check to make sure that the Apple ID’s are not linked together because FaceTime could be thinking it is calling itself.

  • Why does my iMessage and Facetime not work when I am connected to a wi-fi network?

I can not send an iMessage or connect to facetime from my iPad2 when I am connected to a wi-fi network. I had no problems with this at home but now on vacation things are not working...any ideas?

Wanted to say Thanks! to both of you for the help. I went and found a different wi-fi to connect to and everything worked perfectly. Not sure what the deal was with the wi-fi at the vacation house but it all works now.

  • Facetime stopped working and won't activate

My iPhone4 Facetime was working and has stopped. I tried to re activate but it does not reactivate. Would the latest update have changed anything. Ideas?

    Try the following things:
Reboot your iPhone (hold down the power / lock button until Apple logo) and then try reactivting
Back up your iPhone, erase it, then restore it from your back up
If nothing else works, you may have to erase your iPhone completely. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS. FaceTime isn't worth erasing your iPhone. However that if your choice.
    I hope I helped

  • HP C4280 Printer Just Stopped Working and Won't connect to Mac

One day it just stopped letting me connect to it. Snow Leopard sees the printer in the list. I click the + button and it sees the printer. I click Add and it acts like it will add it. Then it goes back to the original screen and no printer.
I downloaded HP software for it since I never did that originally. SL just used the builtin drivers. So I installed the HP driver and still nothing. I did open the HP Scan software, funny thing it actually let me scan something through that software but it won't let me print.
What is up? It's way too hard to find any help on the HP Support site. It stinks.
    Please Help.
    Jim

I found this post in Apple Support About the Reset Printing System feature.
This fixed my problem and now I am back to printer. Very nice!! Thank You Apple!

  • Home Sharing Just Won't Connect

Good morning all, I just want to add my voice to the carcophony with regards iTunes Home Sharing setup to my iPad and my new ATV2.
This past weekend we bought a new ATV2 to go with the new TV. Got home, unboxed it all and plugged it all in. It all set up seemlessly, both the new TV and the ATV2 found the wireless connection, password accepted which allowed us to successfully connect to Netflix and YouTube. After playing around for a while with the new toys I decided to try and setup Home Sharing. I followed the instructions: turn on Home Sharing in iTunes, then do the same on the reset of your devices using the same user name and password. Check. Only, not "check" because it doesn't work.
I've been floating around these forums for a few days now trying to troubleshoot and find the issue. I have triple checked login information on all the devices. I have "reset" the ATV2 to no avail, all it did was get me back to the point of being able to use Netflix, YouTube, Radio / Music, and AirPlay. Last night I played around with the Windows Firewall thing in the XP control panel, adding the port numbers from one of the other posts. Nope. I change the wireless router setting to the correct WPA setting that's also floating around. Nada. I restarted the wireless router. Nothing.
I guess tonight I will log out of EVERYTHING, reset everything and then reboot everything. However, I'm expecting the same underwhelming results.
Even my husbands computer won't show up in Home Sharing, and both desktops are hardwired to the moderm/router thing.
I'm SO used to Apple's "plug and play" beauty that this is getting frustrating, I've NEVER had to work so hard to get one of their products to work.
So to summerize, I've tried a bunch of stuff without success. Netflix, YouTube and the Radio / Music functions work without a problem. I can push content to the ATV2 using AirPlay. However, I can't get Home Sharing to work, and I can't seem to buy stuff through iTunes on the ATV2.
    What else can I try?
    Sincerely,
    Claire
    Your average, non-technical, home user.

  • My iPhone 5C just won't connect to iTunes?!

I got an iPhone 5C yesterday, so obviously wanted to install some music onto it. I've recently downloaded and updated itunes onto my new laptop which is windows 8, so that's up to date & everything on my phone is up to date. My computer is reading the iphone, but itunes just can't find it at all. I've gone through all the discussions I can find and searched all over the internet for a solution. I've tried everything! Uninstalling programmes, repairing them, changing the start up programmes...and nothing will work! I tried to stay calm, but now it is really bugging me. Why won't it work?!

Hey I like to thank everyone of you... I appreciate that.
But unfortunately my iPod still refuses to work!!!:(
I tried every suggestions that were given and even removed the whole iPod and iTunes software just to get to know the same frustrating error-messages after reinstalling.
By the way when I connect my iPod I do hear the common sound when connecting new hardware via USB and a actual window pops up. It`s the iPod (F:) window. So as I said before my computer is recognicing the iPod. Anyway when I then check the preferences from iTunes it is simply stated "iPod not connected"!!!
    So what`s the point??
How do I make my iTunes communicate with my iPod then???
After all it´s a good feeling to know that someone else is having the same struggles and again thanx a lot!!!

  • One mac of 3 just won't connect to the other macs

Don't know where else to post this.  I have 2 mac minis and a macbook pro.  I just cannot connect via ethernet to one of the minis from the MBP.  I used to be able to, and now I can't. I just did a fresh complete Mavericks os install. I can mount the other mini fine, but the other no. It just says "connection failed", and no combination of username or pw will work.
File sharing is on for all 3 macs, the home and an external drive are listed as "shareable", read/write to all, it's crazy. I have a very basic setup.
I just can not for the life of me figure out why. I can walk over to the other mini and connect to it and the external drive just fine, but not from the MBP.
I've tried every trick in my box - nothing is working.
Any ideas on even where to start troubleshooting this?

I have the same problem and have been on the phone with apple support for hours trying to get this resolved. After trying everything I was told thet it was a microsoft problem and that I should them. They laughed when I spoke with them. I am returning my IPOD as I don't believe you can have more than one IPOD can be used on a single computer (we have two user id's). I have finally given up and will try the Dell DJ.

  • My final device that just won't connect!

Hi Folks, I have a BT HomeHub2 which has been working fine for about a year now. I have three Macs, a PC, an XBox 360, a Wii and my ipod all successfully connecting to this without any problems at all.
I've just bought a San Francisco Orange phone - this is really a ZTE Blade android phone that Orange have changed the name. It can connect to my sisters BT Homehub2 no problems, but it's just not connecting to mine.
It sees the network, I put in the correct password and it hangs at 'obtaining IP address'.
The curious thing is that it will happily connect via BTopenzone and seeing as I live in the middle of nowhere this will be taking my homehub connection. However, this isn't satisfactory as everytime I wake my phone up I have to then re-register via BTfon on the internet phone app.
I have a sneaking suspicion that it maybe that I have a setting blocking me from linking this phone, but have no idea how to proceed.
(oh, and I have been pressing the pairing button on the hub by the way!)

    Hi Geaves,
Well, yes and no. I'm already part of the Modaco forum folk. The issue I'm having isn't the same as those particular links (have gone through them thoroughly) - that issue is with the phone constantly dropping the wi-fi connection... I've never managed to get it to connect to my own home hub apart from with openzone.
I get the impression that this is something to do with the homehub setup - other people are having this issue, though only a handful it has to be said. Also, I have managed to get it to connect immediately with my sister's homehub2 - sadly she lives 450 miles away
Here's a snippet of something that may or may not spark some suggestions with those familiar with the ins and out of the BT homehub (which I ain't):
    Taken from the modaco forum:
'Aside from the SF's known v1.0 wifi quirks, it sounds as though there may be something strange in the router setup limiting the number of connections available to you, possibly because of maximising the number available to other passing BT customers ... I think you need to ensure that you aren't being excluded from your own router because of the way it is setup. Ordinarily your security might be setup to limit the number of (in-house) connections (by restricting the DHCP pool of addresses), or permit only devices already known (a MAC whitelist), or even having DHCP turned off with everything having its own static IP address. Those would normally be deliberate (manual) security setup choices, (but I dunno how your thing sets itself up). And all those (and probably many other) things could give the sort of grief you are encountering. But, although (or maybe because) I simply don't know the detail of how much of your router is reserved for your own use, I'd suspect that might be where the trouble lies. Certainly the first thing I'd want to investigate.'
Could this be something?_ I have 6/7/8 devices on my connected list, depending on wether the wife/daughter is on a laptop or not.
    Also, as a comment:
I have a Dell Streak phone (2.1) and a BT HomeHub2, guess what ... I have the same problem. I have noticed that the Streak leases everything single address on the hub and then never connects. Also what I see is massive amounts hits in the MAC table for the phone ... xxxx.xxxx.xxxx-1 xxxx.xxxx.xxxx-2 xxxx.xxxx.xxxx-3 etc. I have told the router to always lease a specific address to the MAC but no good. I think it's BT's software in the Hub.
Just putting two sides of the story down here as I really have no idea wether the fault is the hubs or the phones.

  • WiFi randomly stopped working and won't connect, PLEASE HELP

Okay, so, I have had my 32G, 3rd generation i-pod touch since Christmas and the WiFi has worked since day 1. Today, my WiFi worked all day until about 6 o'clock. I went to google something and it said that my WiFi wasn't connected. So, I went to settings and WiFi and clicked on my router. I entered in the password and it said it was "unable to connect". I have tried this multiple times, reset network settings, turned it off and back on, and tries some more and it still won't work. Then, I went to call Apple Support, but it was too late and the stupid 90 day thing where you can only get support for 90 days after purchase wouldn't have let me ask for help anyways! So, basically, what I am asking is: does anyone have a clue how I can fix my WiFi?
    Help is greatly appreciated!

You can start with this support article about troubleshooting WiFi on an iOS device.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1398
Normally I would also suggest that you update your iOS to version 5 which is out now, but you may want to hold off on that and see if you can resolve the WiFi issue with the troubleshootings steps in the article first.

  • IPhone 5: Cellular Data works but won't connect to password protected wifi?

I just got the new iPhone 5. It is now working on the AT&T network.
it will work on my public WiFi at home, but not on the private WiFi network, which I need it to work on. I keep typing in my password, and two letters before the whole thing it says "join" and even when I type in the whole password it does not join. it says unable to connect.
    Any ideas?

Your home wifi may possibly be having issues. Call the company that does your wifi and they should send someone out to service it.

  • Tried everything - ipad2 still won't connect to home wifi

    Situation
    - home network wireless router is a linksys wrt54g - no login
    - other laptops connect fine
    - ipod touch connects fine
    - new ipad2 works fine on home wifi until I upgrade to ios5.0.1
    - now see three bars in the upper left next to the word ipad, with a spinning circle to the right of that when I open Safari (just hangs trying to open any site)
    - new ipad2 works fine on other wifi (office, airplane, public hotspots) both before and after upgrade
    - set to DHCP with a local IP address of 192.168.1.102, subnet of 255.255.255.0, router of 192.168.1.1,
    What have I tried?
    - turning wi-fi off and on w/in the ipad2 wifi networks screen
    - hard reset of the ipad2 (home / power until apple logo, then release)
    - network settings reset
    - forget this network
    - power cycling the router and cable modem
    - manually deleting the ipad2 from the dhcp clients table via the router admin gui
    - switching on and off airplane mode
    - adding and deleting a client id from the network screen (by default it is blank)
Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

So - after spending an hour on the phone/hold with apple with no solutions - I did a reset of the router - leaving the default SSID of 'linksys' - and it now works.
