FaceTime Failed: Calls between iPod Touch and Macbook Pro

when i try to place a call to someone who has FaceTime on an iPod Touch, she says she doesn't receive any calls and i get eventually get a "FaceTime failed" after a few rings. if the other party calls me (i'm using MacBook Pro with OSX Lion 10.7.1) and i answer, at first, it will say "Connecting..." then it will then show a "FaceTime failed". We both powered off our devices to no avail. Any ideas?

Somehow, it just fixed itself.

I am able to call my daughter's ipod touch using my mac book pro and the beta version of facetime, but whenever I try and use the ipod touch to call me it says that I am not available.

This is working for me.
Check the firewall settings on your Mac. The FaceTime application must be able to receive incoming connections for it to accept a call.
(A) Go to Apple Menu->System Preferences->Security->Firewall->Advanced
You may need to hit the lock and enter your password to get access to the Advanced option.
(B) Make sure that "block all incoming connections" is NOT ticked.
(C) In the application list, make sure FaceTime has "Allow incoming connections"
If this does not work, you may have a general network settings issue and incoming calls are not coming to your Mac. This is especially possible in a corporate network. Test with all firewalls disabled or on a different network.

Before the update I wasn't having any problems, but now when I try to connect with bluetooth I can pair, but it won't connect. It says I don't "have the necessary services" for bluetooth. Any ideas?

I bought a Macbook Pro and ipod touch 3 weeks ago. I am shocked and disappointed to learn that i'm not able to connect these devices via bluetooth. Searching through forums and discussion pages I see that this is by design. I fail to understand why.
On more occasions than I care to comment I have defended Apple products against sceptical attacks that dismiss the company's innovation as pure hype and suggest the proliferation of its 'locked' and 'exclusive' features signal the rise of the 'new dark side'. I have been left with little argument to continue this defence.
I regret that I will seriously reconsider my next purchase of an Apple product.

Both Ipod Touch and Macbook Pro Stolen, how do I get the photos in my photostream back at least?

My house was burglarized yesterday and I lost my Macbook Pro and my 3rd gen iPod touch with many photos and videos on it. I did have the photostream turned on but the computer that it was linked to was stolen. I want to get these photos back if possible but since iCloud doesn't seem to act like an actual cloud service I can't seem to find a way to do that.
Can I set it up on another computer and get the last 100 photos I took without the IOS device?

Photo stream still stores you photos from the last 30 days (up to a max of 1,000), so all you need to do is connect to icloud with some device/computer, turn on photo stream and voila.

Did you restore the iPod using this iTunes library/computer?
Make sure that yo have the right boxes checked to sync the media

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync all music and resync
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

WRT400N connection issues with iPod Touch and MacBook

I'm a newbie, so please bear with me.
I recently upgraded to the WRT400N from a Linksys BEFW11S4.
Since the change, the connection to iPod Touches and MacBooks at the house have been shaky at best. The connection frequently drops out completely on the iPod Touch even if it's right next to the router.
I've tried resetting the router, changing settings on the iTouch and MacBooks, but the problem persists. I don't want to mess with the router settings as I'm not experienced in that area.
Can anyone please help me?

You can try the below mentioned settings.
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop).In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
On the set-up tab change the MTU Size to 1365 and click Save Settings...
Once you return to the set up page click on the Security tab and uncheck Block Anonymous Internet Requests and click on Save Settings...
Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304 Change the RTS Threshold to 2307 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...
This should fix the issue for you.

Syncing mail between iMac G5 and Macbook Pro

I work at home on a G5 and regularly read and then delete or file my emails. I regularly sync between my G5 and Macbook Pro, which I use when traveling. My syncing routine works fine with the address book, calendar, etc., but when I go my Macbook Pro Mail account after syncing, the inbox is still full of mail that I have already read and filed on the G5. Is the syncing routine designed to replicate the mail accounts or do I need to reread, delete, and file the emails on the Macbook as well.
PS: I am using email accounts with cox.net, i.e., not mac.com accounts.

The underlying issue here is that you have chosen to use POP3 rather than IMAP mail accounts. Only IMAP mailboxes are 'synchronized' by default: it is virtually impossible to synchronize POP3 mailbox content.

How do I sync Pages and Numbers between my iPad and Macbook Pro?

I know there is a way to use iTunes to sync my Pages and Numbers files between my iPad and Macbook Pro, but I can't seem to find the app or software or instructions. The exact same way as in the old version.
Option 1) Select the content desired to sync and sync.
Option 2) Drag and drop the content onto the device.
If the side bar is needed/desired, typing Cntrl + S will display it.

Using airplay to appletv from a 4th gen ipod touch and macbook air

The new continuity features with iOS 8 are awesome, but they do take some setup to work properly. Browse through that article and find the section that is relevant to your issue and follow the instructions

When syncing Contacts, does IPod Touch or MacBook Pro take priority?

With the iPod connected to the computer go to the Info pane under the iPod (device). At the bottom there is an Advance section. That section includes the option (check boxes) to replace specific information on the iPod with that on the computer. Is that want you want?

Handoff won't work between iPad Air and Macbook Pro

I'm trying to get handoff to work between my iPad Air and Macbook Pro (Late 2013). I have tried turning all devices on and off again, turning the handoff on and off again and turning iPhone Cellular Calls on and off again on both devices.
Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

This fixed your connectivity problem. However, I don't think this has actually fixed any problem.
I think this Handoff feature is buggy. I have three devices -- a MBP, an iPad Mini, and an iPhone 5 -- and I have done "the dance" you've described and only one of my devices, the iPhone, is now Handoff capable. The iPad Mini still doesn't support Handoff.
I think there is a problem in the software and that all of this signing in, signing out, powering on, powering off, is just getting the devices to clean themselves up so that stuff can start from a fresh slate and attempt to work together again...sort of. It's not necessarily guaranteed.
