Facetime for Mac 1.0.4

I have a macmini running MacOS 10.6.8 and recently purchased in Apple Store the new FaceTime. Installed it and I can't activate it with my Apple ID. Any thoughts??

Found a solution.
The 1.04 version of FaceTime definitely has a bug.
Solution? Revert back to the previous version.
If you have a recent or near recent cloned backup of your previous system and the earlier version of FaceTime is in your previous system backup, you can simply drag out the new, improved version out of your Applications folder (the new, bug ridden 1.04 version I placed in my home folder. ) drag out the dock icon, as well (as it may still be linked to the new version of FaceTime).
I dragged out of my cloned system backup (still located in my Applications folder) my previous 1.02 version of FaceTime into my current system into my current Applications folder and then dragged the FaceTime icon back down into my OS X Dock.
Click on the FaceTime icon in the Dock and voila, you will have a working FaceTime version, again!
Once you have a working FaceTime back, you can decide if you want to drag the new version (still saved in your Home folder) into the OS X Trash and empty.

  • Problem with facetime for mac

hello guy! I've got a problem with facetime for mac.My sister has a I-pod touch fourth generation with factime but i cna't phone her a message come on my mac.It say "xxx can't receive facetime's calls"!Can you help me??

    Thanks, Dah•veed.
I did see mention of using Google Public DNS while I was searching the forums prior to posting, but to be honest didn't think it was a DNS-related problem.
However, to rule it out I've set the prefered DNS servers on my router to Google's, but FaceTime still disconnects after 4-5 seconds when calling between me and my brother-in-law.  It doesn't matter who initiates the call.
As a test, before I made the changes to my router, I logged into FaceTime as him on my MBP and tried calling myself on my iMac, and that was successful.
The same test between the two iMacs when they were here was unsuccessful, so now I'm definitely thinking it's something on the '08 iMac.
Now I just need to figure out what...

  • Where is my FaceTime for Mac?

    Hi everyone,
I just purchased FaceTime for Mac, but I have not received a confirmation e-mail nor do I find the app anywhere on my MacBook? What do I do? Where can I find it?
Thans in advance for your kind help!

I'm having the same problem.  I'm running 10.7.3 and I've tried calling friends and family, one who has the latest generation iPod touch, and one who has another new MacBook Pro, and while my call pops up on their screen when they click "accept" the system gets stuck in a continual "connecting" mode.  When they call me, nothing on my end happens while on their end the calls are ringing.  What can I do to fix it?

  • My facetime for MAC wont allow a facetime iphone to connect

When I call my fiance using facetime for Mac, she attempts to connect but it wont allow her to; yet I can facetime between iPhones with no problem.  Why is this and can it be corrected?

I would recommend taking a look at the troubleshooting steps found in the article below.

Nope. I do the same exact thing. If you have DVD's and blu-rays you can't download a free application called Handbrake. You can set it to Apple TV2 automatic format and they will come out as playable m4v's that can play I'm iTunes. All you have to do is turn on Home Sharing in both iTunes and your Apple RV and you'll be good to go!

  • Can I call an iPhone (international number) using FaceTime for Mac?

I have a MacBook Pro. My husband, who's stationed in Okinawa, has an iPhone 4 with an international phone number. If we are both in a wifi area, does FaceTime for Mac work when calling an international number??

    Yes.
Note that iPhone must be using iOS4.1 (or later) to FaceTime to Mac (or iPod touch).
On your Mac in your wi-fi area, click "Contacts", find and click on his iPhone's number. If he is connected to compatible wi-fi, he will get your invitation.

  • Cannot sign in to Facetime for Mac

Try as I might, I have been unable to sign into FaceTime for Mac on my Mac.  Each time I try, I get the the little twirling circle, then eventually end up with a response in red saying, "Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again."
There is nothing wrong with my network connection. I'm able to access anything else that I want through the connection.  I have deleted and reloaded the FaceTime for Mac application, I have checked that I have all settings for location, date and time, and everything else, set up as outlined in all the discussion boards with all required permissions.  I'm running the latest versions of all software. Still no joy, I'm  just not able to access FaceTime from my Mac.
Anyone have any other suggestions?  The folks at the Genius Bar seemed unable to offer any ideas.

This is a follow up to my initial posting.  I placed a call to Apple Support this afternoon.  After the initial agent there was unable to resolve the issue, I was transferred to a more senior technical person.  He stepped me through a whole bunch of trouble-shooting exercises, none of which worked.  He then had me go into a utilities mode and into an area to "repair permissions" on my hard drive, an evolution that took several minutes, and from what scrolled up my screen, looked as though there were quite a few repairs to be made.  The tech said this isn't unusual, and most were probably very minor.
Anyway, after the utility completed, he had me restart the computer, then try again with the FaceTime activation. This time, the activation went through without any problem.  I have no idea what "repair permissions" does, but it did resolve my problem and allowed me to activate FaceTime.

  • How can I get sound in Facetime for Mac?

I bought the Facetime for mac about two weeks ago in my macbook pro. But I can't use it to talk with my father in Ipad2. There is no sound. I can here from my father but my father could hear nothing from me. I don't know why. I need help please. Thank you.

  • I am new to Facetime for Mac, is there a place that I could try it

I bought Facetime for Mac a week or so ago. It is loaded on my Macbook Pro.
I have run Facetime with my iphone and it works OK except for the feedback loop (as expected). I also used it with an iPod Touch and again it worked fine. When I use it with another friend that has a Macbook I do not see or hear him but he can see me and hear me fine.
Is there a place that I can try it out with another user on a computer not a phone?
    Jim

The person I was having problems connecting on FaceTime has resolved their problems and now I can FaceTime with them with out any problems. Thus I have no need to find a place to try it. It would be nice if Apple had a piece of their support group that you could connect to on FaceTime. Maybe if you could talk to their sales people over FaceTime that would be another option that should not cost them much and yet provide a nice service.

  • FaceTime for Mac won't install!

I downloaded the beta for FaceTime for Mac, but after I started to install it, I get an error message saying I needed a "Security Update 2010-005". (Example below)
I went to the Apple downloads and downloaded the update. I go to install it and I get an another error message saying, "You cannot install Security Update 2010-005 on this volume. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update". (Example below)
I checked my computer and I'm up to date with all my updates. Help please!

It seems you didn't read the system requirements on the Facetime for Mac download page:
    +"Requires Mac OS X v10.6.4 Snow Leopard or later."+
Your signature say's you are running Mac OS X 10.5.8 Leopard, which would also explain why you are unable to install the Security Update for Snow Leopard.

Remove it according to the developer's instructions and see whether there's an improvement. Back up all data before making any changes.

  • Facetime for Mac won't get past "verifying"

No e-mail message is being sent. I hit "resend"...nothing.
Can't get beyond this part, so it doesn't work.
It says to follow the instructions in the e-mail to verify the address. I am not getting an e-mail, so I have no instructions. Is there a way to "verify" my address that will circumvent the need to receive the e-mail? I seem to remember doing some sort of verification process to get my daughter's ipod touch Facetime to work. I poked around in mobile me and couldn't find anything.
I added DNS entries for 8.8.8.8 etc.
I am on WIFI on each laptop going through an Airport Extreme hardwired to cable "modem".

  • Setting up FaceTime for Mac

I've successfully installed FaceTime on my 27" iMac using my Apple ID and MobileMe email address. Tried to do the same with my wife's Apple ID and MobileMe on my second iMac (a 21.5") but to no avail. Ditto with my daughter's Apple ID and MobileMe email on the same iMac. I'm either told the ID is "permanently unauthorized" or "invalid". Could it be that both of these are secondary IDs on my main MobileMe account and not standalone IDs?

I tried installing facetime BETA for Mac. But it says:
You are missing a critical security patch. Please use Software Update to install Security Update 2010-005
Will Facetime BETA work on MacBook Pro with 10.6.3 Snow Leopard Version?
    What should I do?
You only need to ask in one place, but I will answer here, too.

  • How do I get facetime for mac desktop

How do I download facetime for my mac desktop computer?

I just responded to another post regarding Facebook for Mac.  Your Mac must have OSx 10.6.6 or later.  If your Mac satisfies this requirement, go to the App Store, where it is available for 99 cents US.
