Facetime HD camera Macbook Air 6

Hi,
can anyone give me a hint how to get the camera to work? I want to use the camera with skype, but I can't figure out how.
Microphone and speakers work fine (kernel 3.12), but when I enable "skype video" there is no device listed.
My skype user account is in the video group.
According to the wiki https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ma … acetime_HD it does not work out of the box, but there is no information what needs to be done.

EDIT: He does not remember but thinks he had to install some firmware...

How can i update the phone number associated with my iMessage and FaceTime on my macbook air?

I recently moved to the US from Canada and have a new US #. I have updated the phone number on my apple ID but the iMessage and FaceTime on my macbook air are still connected to my old Canadian phone number. How can I update this? Thanks so much!

Associate your mobile number with your Apple ID, if you haven't already done so.
Sign out of iMessage on the Mac:
          Messages ▹ Preferences ▹ Accounts ▹ Sign out
and on the iPhone:
          Settings ▹ Messages ▹ Send & Receive ▹ Apple ID ▹ Sign out
Then, on the phone, tap
          Use Your Apple ID for iMessage
Sign back into iMessage on both devices and test.

Can't sign in on FaceTime on 2010 MacBook Air 10.6.7

I can't sign in to FaceTime on my MacBook Air. It says my Apple ID is not right or that I should check my network settings.
The strange thing is that it does work on my iPad 2. I'm using the same Apple ID and I'm on the same network. It also works on my iPhone on that same network. I'm even able to setup a FaceTime call between my iPhone and my iPad.
So what's wrong with my MacBook?

Changing the DNS may do the trick for your MacBook - at least for the network connection problem.

When I try to use FaceTime on my Macbook Air, I try to verify the email I want people to call me with, and it says verified, but soon an message comes up that says "Could not verify the email address. Please check your network connection and try again."

So our school lets us use Macbook Airs for the school year, and it has facetime on it. I know facetime isn't blocked because like everyone else is using it. So I decide to give it a try. I click the icon, it says enter your apple ID. I dont have one, so I click to make one, and do so. I then enter my apple ID and click next. The screen reads "People will call you using your email address. What email address would you like to use?" I enter my email address in the box below the message, and then go to my email and click the link, and sign in, thus verifying the email. I go back to the facetime window, and click next. At the top it says Verified, but when I click next it doesn't go on to the next step, it simply blacks out the next button so that I can not click it, and after a few minutes a message comes up that says "Could not verify the email address. Please check your network connection and try again."
So that is the issue, please help!!!!!
*Note-I repeat that I know it is not blocked by the school because everyone else uses it just fine.*

Since you are using one of the the school's Macbooks, it is quite possible that the time and date are not properly set on the computer that you are using. FaceTime will not work if you do not have the proper time zone set up for the location that you are in. This past week, there were a two other Macbook users I've helped by simply telling them to set the Date/Time properly. By the way, you described your problem very well, which makes it easier for us to help you. Hope this solves your problem -- if not, post back and I can suggest other remedies.

I buy a new MacBook Air (it come with FaceTime), I have Iphone 4S too. Its impossible make conection throught FaceTime! I try call and make one ringer and the call its down. Hi, yes now my problem regarding this is now solved, but now the BOOTCAMP and Windows 7 produce all time BSOD while starting, only with F8 and "abgesicherter Modus/safe mode" I can logon on.
Exact after starting Windows and have the BSOD the cam works again starting Lion :-(

Apple has tried a lot of stuff
deleted all caches (no result),
prevent Sophos to start automatically
prevent the iTunes helper to start automatically
use a new user profile
deleting specific EFI (?) information holding some keys with the left and the right hand, waiting for three reboots
Possible the last thing or the update to Lion may be the reason for the BSOD in Windows. Apple diagnostic does not show any errors in the system; I've used the intensive test, which takes 30 minutes.
Apple support pleased me to load an update of the Bootcamp drivers, but in safe mode I cannot install them because the windows installer service can't be startet.
So, that's my actual status.

Facetime preferences on MacBook Air

I don't understand the check box for iPhone cellular calls. If my iPhone is nearby and on WiFi, why would I want to use its cellular connection? I think I'm missing something.

I believe it's asking if you want to be able to accept facetime calls while you are NOT on wifi. Do you want to be able to receive (and send) facetime calls while using only cellular? If yes, check the box. If no, leave it unchecked.

My i phone search was deactived after my new iPad air had a production fault and had to return it. Now FaceTime is not working on our macbook air. any ideas how to activate FaceTime. it looks like it is working, ringing etc but does not connect.
