i have and ipad and my friend has an ipod and we both facetime each other but once in a while the screen freezes and ends are chat....is there anyway to prevent that from happening??

MacBook Pro to iPad FaceTime help!

I have a MacBook Pro and my mom has an iPad. When we try to FaceTime each other a message comes up saying the other is "not available for FaceTime". We don't understand why this doesn't work because we are using different email addresses to call each other. I have the same problem when I try to call my dad's MacBook Pro using my MacBook Pro. However, I have made calls from my MacBook Pro to multiple iPhones and vice versa. So why doesn't it work between iPads and other MacBooks? HELP!

You need OSX 10.8.2 Mountain Lion to have FaceTime on the Mac. Also an Apple ID with a valid e-mail address for the Mac.

If you share an Apple ID with your dad, you need to use a different contact address on one of the devices in order to FaceTime with him. I have 3 devices using the same ID on all of them and I can Message and FaceTime with all of them.

FaceTime help MacBook Pro 2011

Hello! I need help with my MacBook Pro 2011. I really would like to FaceTime my friends, but it does not let me. I am running Snow Leopard OS X 10.6.8. Do I need to get Lion? When I try to FaceTime someone, it goes through and says connecting, but then it randomly ends. I am so confused!

Check for updates to FaceTime in the Mac App Store.
Also, with FaceTime running, in the menu bar at the top of the screen, go to FaceTime > About FaceTime. What version?

My iPad accepts my password but won't let me on I mess or FaceTime

Texas Mac Man, we seem to have the same hardware and ios. Maybe you can help direct me to a solution for a similar problem. I tried everything as best i could on the relevant support page, but I'm still stumped.
Problem: when attempting to sign in to either Facetime or Messages, this alert appears: "Could not sign in, please check your network connection and try again" when signing in to your Apple ID
Device affected: iPad2
Device NOT affected iPhone5C
I have not tried turning off Airplane mode, out of fear that it might lock in on my mobile carrier and may charge me for data use from the iPad... I upgraded to the iPhone plan and eliminated the iPad data only plaN, keeping it on airplane mode ever since.
Details
1. The problem started after downloading and installing the latest iOS 8.1 for iPad.
2. I used this internet connection to download the iOS 8.1 update, and am now on Safari connected to the internet through this device to find out why Facetime won't work.
3. The wifi settings allowed the previous iOS to send/receive iMessages... And are sufficient to currently watch Netflix movies on this device... Given that iDevices don't change network settings from common use, and my iPhone can send iMessages while in airplane mode and on wifi, the settings must be correct.
4. I've successfully signed into my iTunes account on both my laptop and this device using the correct Apple email ID and password. I've successfully logged onto my Apple ID from the Apple website to confirm emails and IDs are verified, through Safari on this device.
5. My Apple ID is my current valid/alternate email address. I've signed into iCloud on both laptop and iPad using this password. I've emailed myself to and from my Apple ID email using this device. I've also tried signing into Facetime using my alternate Apple ID.
6. Time zone is correctly auto set to my nearest time zone town. When set manually, the problem is still present.
7. Cellular data connection is not subscribed for this device. This device with previous iOS has been able to use Messages through this wifi connection as it is currently configured. Attempts from various wifi/coffee spots to sign in using Apple ID and all possible alternates do not resolve the problem.
8. Even though this suggestion was not listed under this specific error message, I decided to try "waiting 24 hours" and the same error still results. It isn't clear if waiting means specifically not attempting to log in to iMessages.
I'll try waiting more and see where that gets me.

ive went to settings>facetime and theres a sign in page my apple id is already there i just have to put my password in, after i put my password in, it shows an email verification page, but it suddenly jumps back to the sign in page, so i cant log in, happens everytime, ive tried resetting all settings, set date to automatically, and rebooted device, any help would be appreciated

My daughter and I have our own iPads and iPhones with a separate Apple ID and email but her friends facetime her and it comes up on all devices since we upgraded to iOS 7. Why? I don't want her facetime or messages on my devices

I cannot log into Messages or FaceTime. I am getting an error message stating: the registering devise does not have appropriate credentials.

Please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried, until the issue is reolved. If there's no resolution after Step 3, post your results.
Step 1
Sign out of iMessage in the Accounts tab of the preferences dialog, then sign back in.
Step 2
Log out of your user account and log back in.
Step 3
Start the computer in safe mode and test, then restart as usual and test again.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.

I have an ipad2 and have been using facetime. suddenly it has stopped working and i can't understand why. when i try to contact someone, it appears to ring from my end, but doesn't at theirs.
