Facetime / iMessage Could Not Sign In...

Since I Updated iOS7 on my Iphone 4S... I try to sign in and I get the following error... any ideas or fix out there for this?

Update: Found a Fix...first go to settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup (towards bottom) >  Back up iPhone... once backup is complete then go to Settings>General>Reset (towards bottom)> erase all content and settings... after phone restarts... go through prompts then select restore from iCloud Backup. It will take awhile to restore if you have alot of data on Device but, worth it, to fix it... Note: make sure to save all data that isnt stored to the cloud before you do the reset ... any photos vids. etc.

    Try something really simple.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Or try this. Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
Or try this as well. Go to Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>On. Make sure it is set to On.
@Freckles888 ..... I really doubt that "millions of others" are having this problem. I think that news would be all over the airwaves and Apple would be taking more heat about it that we can imagine.

  • Imessage could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again

Since I updated yesterday I have been wanting to try Imessage on my Ipod Touch 4G, but I keeo getting this message:
imessage could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again
Any ideas? I checked internet it works in other apps, in email and in safari.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
The Apple ID does not have to be an iCloud listed one.
If you notice in System Preferences > iCloud or Internet Accounts you cannot enable the iCloud account for Messages.
Linc has posted a Starter Document for you to look at.
If you have upgraded from Lion then you could have an issue if your Serial Number is not on your Logic/Mother board.
This should be replaced if the board is replaced through Repair or Refurbishment.
Use the Apple Menu > About this Mac.
Click twice on the line that is the Current OS level.
This will change to the Build Number (Another counting method for the OS) and then to the Serial Number.
This should of course match the one on the back/base/battery compartment of your Mac.
Apple uses this to generate the Authorisation tokens for the app (And FaceTime and the Games Center)
If the Serial Number is Missing you will need to have it installed at an Apple Store or an Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP)

i bought ipod touch 4g for facetime.
    and i can't activate it!
it stops on ipod>settings>Facetime='FaceTime Activation, Could not sign in. Please Check your network connection and try again.'
i have used all the solutions for facetime but all in vain.

    2) All Ports are open verified with simple port tester (on windows 7 off course i changed the ip address)Ports are open.
    3) My Apple id is email (not ME one) contain combination of alpha numeric, small and capital.
    4) Restore 2/3 times ios 4.2.1
    5) Tried DNS Setting to Google's 8.8.8.8,8.8.4.4
    6) Created New ID in facetime and password entered carefully!
    7) Tried 3 apple IDs (i don't like this But i wanted to run facetime)
i also have Iphone 4 facetime works great on it! i love this feature!
i tried to install Tango on Ipod! it installed but stops responding connecting (on Ipod touch 4), so tango also not working. i am just informing about tango. I want facetime to wrok.
Please Help me! I think this is from Apple server side problem!
    Thanks in Advance

You may want to ask your question under a new discussion thread so you can be the Original Poster(OP) there. You will continue to receive emails from the other threads you have posted to. I think it will allow folks responding to focus on your particular situation. Also you will have to post your troubleshooting results only once.
Now that you are past the FaceTime login step, where are you in the troubleshooting steps in the iOS:Using FaceTime article at http://www.apple.com/support/ipad/facetime/?
Again, if you can ask and answer in a new thread/topic, that would be great.

  • FaceTime says "Could not sign in. Check your network connection and try again."

I can't sign in to FaceTime using a macbook air. I can sign in to iTunes, iCloud (so I know my sign in is correct and works) and others can use facetime on my network.  FaceTime says "Could not sign in. Check your network connection and try again."  using Time Capsule router with no problems ever. What can I do to sign in?

    Try This...
Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
    If no joy...
    Reset all settings
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.
This will return all iDevice settings to factory defaults... you will not lose any data.... But you will have to re-enter all of the device settings.

  • Facetime error "Could not sign in. please check your network connectivity and try again

When I try to log in to Facetime on my iMac, it gives me the an error. "Could not sign in. please check your network connectivity and try again" I have already tried fixing the time and I dont have any firewall installed

This could be a complicated problem to solve, as there are many possible causes for it. Test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Back up all data before making any changes.
Before proceeding, test on another network, if possible. That could be a public Wi-Fi hotspot, if your computer is portable, or a cellular network if you have a mobile device that can share its Internet connection. If you find that iMessage works on the other network, the problem is in your network or at your ISP, not in your computer.
    Step 1
Check the status of the service. If the service is down, wait tor it to come back up. There may be a localized outage, even if the status indicator is green.
    Step 2
Sign out of iMessage and FaceTime on all your Apple devices. Log out and log back in. Try again to sign in.
    Step 3
Restart your router and your broadband device, if they're separate. You may have to skip this step if you don't control those devices.
    Step 4
    From the menu bar, select
               ▹ About This Mac
Below the "OS X" legend in the window that opens, the OS version appears. Click the version line twice to display the serial number. If the number is missing or invalid according to this web form, take the machine to an Apple Store or other authorized service center to have the problem corrected.
    Step 5
Take the steps suggested in this support article. If you don't understand some of the steps or can't carry them out, ask for guidance.
    Step 6
    From the menu bar, select
               ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Network
If the preference pane is locked, click the lock icon in the lower left corner and enter your password to unlock it. Then click the Advanced button and select the Proxies tab. If the box marked SOCKS Proxy is checked, uncheck it. You don’t need to change any other settings in the window. Click OK and then Apply. Test.
The result may be that you can't connect to the Internet at all. Revert the change if that happens, or if iMessage still doesn't work. Remember that you must Apply any changes you make in the preference pane before they take effect.
    Step 7
    Select from the menu bar
               ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Storage
    and click
Block all sites from storing information on this computer
    Close the preference pane.
    Step 8
Make sure you know the ID and password you use with iMessage. Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Use the search box in the toolbar of the Keychain Access window to find and delete all items with "iMessage" or "com.apple.idms" in the name. Log out and log back in.
    Step 9
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
If iMessage worked in the guest account, stop here and post your results.
    Step 10
Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you start up, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound outputand Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. After testing, restart as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and test again.
If iMessage worked in safe mode, but still doesn't work when you restart in "normal" mode, stop here and post your results.
    Step 11
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.apsd.plist
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Restart the computer and empty the Trash.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 12
    Reset the NVRAM.
    Step 13
Reset the System Management Controller (SMC).
    Step 14
    Reinstall OS X.
    Step 15
If none of the above steps resolves the issue, make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or contact Apple Support. When you set up a support call, select "Apple ID" as the product you need help with, not the hardware model. That way, if you're not under AppleCare, you may be able to talk your way out of being charged for the call.

  • HT1766 since os7 update for ipad, I can't sign into Facetime. I enter username & password & the message I get back is "FaceTime Activation could not sign in. Pls check your network connect". There is nothing wrong with my wifi connect. What's up with this

Any takers on this question ? FaceTime is one of the apps I used all the time prior to Os7 update, now i can't get in because when I try to sign in, the message I receive says Activation could not sign in and I should check my network connection. My network connection works fine, I can use the internet or twitter or all the other apps which require a working network, but not FaceTime.......What's up with that ??

there has been a big problem with facetime and imessage. The best solution for this case is to restore your device http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Make sure you back it up. and I would set up facetime before you reinstall your backup and  make sure its working.

  • Can't signing in iMessage , (could not sign in. please check your network connection )

I has already enter correct apple id and connect to wifi but it still can't sign in to iMessage and faceTime . the notification shown (iMessage Activation . Could not sign in. please check your network connection and try again )

I GOT IT! I tried all of the other things people suggestions and nothing worked for me. Don't change your DNS.
I had to back up all of my everything, turn off facetime and iMessage, and reset my entire phone under settings>general>reset>erase all content and settings. back sure you back up contacts, pictures, apps, etc. on iCloud and your apple ID because it will all be gone. then configure your phone at sq. 1, and in the first couple steps you're gonna wanna skip registering your apple ID, and then move along until you're at the home page. then go to settings, turn on facetime, turn on iMessaging, try to log in. It should work after your phone has reconfigured. then go ahead, once iMessage is working, log into iCloud and your Apple ID so that you get all your **** back. I really hope this helped... blood, sweat and tears went into the process of finding this answer..

  • IMessage Could not sign in - Using Mac Pro

Completed the upgrade to Yosemite for laptop. Everything working just fine.
Completed the upgrade to my Mac Pro and iMessage is coming up with an error
"Could not sign in to iMessage.
Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again."
Everything else is working. Connected to the cloud. Connected to FaceTime.
iMessage is the only thing that's glitching.
I've tried logging in using my hotspot connection too to make sure it's not a true network issue.
Anyone else out there having this issue and hoping someone smarter than I resolved it.
I've read in other forums it could be something to do with the DNS so I've included a screenshot of that.
    Thanks for any help.

I was having the same issue and called Apple customer support.
They suggested to restart my Mac Pro (early 2009) in safe mode and login back to iMessage, it worked for me!
    Turn off your computer.
Turn it back on holding the shift key
You are now on SAFE MODE
Open iMessage and login back on, you will login without any problem!
At this point you can reboot the computer in NORMAL MODE!
    Hope it helps!

  • IMessage - could not sign in please check network connection

    Hi,
I have 3 macs and a couple of iDevies. All was working fine... Suddenly iMessage does not work on my iMac. All other devices tied to the account have no problem with messages. At first it gave me: "could not send the message please check network connection". After tinkering and waiting a couple of days I then tried to log out and then log in again... Bad idea; I now it gives me a similar message but that it cannot sign in.
AIM and all other internet services work without an issue, no problem with other Apple ID services.
Thanks for any and all ideas.
