Facetime: iPhone 4 to iPhone 5 uses plan minutes?!?!?!

I have a iPhone 4 and my friend has an iPhone 5. We Facetime all the time, and she just recently found out that her minutes from her phone bill was being all used up. I never had seen this before and i tried searching this up online but no help. So i just wanted to know if Factiming would use your carrier minutes or wifi only?

No it does not count against your voice plan. If you are using Wi-Fi, it does not count against your plan at all. If you are using a cellular connection, it counts against the data plan, but not the phone plan.
