Facetime....is it free when travelling out of the country?

Is it like skype or are there charges for using it out of country?

No charges, it just requires a WiFi connection.

  • I have an SIII and will be traveling out of the country.  Do I need to get a micro SIM card ? (I was told that Verizon has them for free but it needs to be set up and there was a charge for this.

I have a Samsung SIII and will be traveling out of the country. Do I need to get a micro SIM card instaslled for international ?  I was told Verizon has them free for customers but that it needs to be "sert up". Also, are there alternatives to going through the verizon data plan (which is very expensive.
    Thanks

Your phone already has a micro SIM card in the device so it can connect to the VZW network. You will need an international plan from VZW if you intend to use that SIM card. Otherwise you can get a new SIM card from the local carrier and setup the phone for global use with a separate APN with that carrier's specific information.

  • I have an iphone 5 w/hot spot but am traveling out of the country. If I turn off cellular data

I HAVE AN IPHONE 5W/HOT SPOT VERIZON PLAN AND AM TRAVELING OUT OF THE COUNTRY.
IF I TURN OFF CELLULAR DATA AND DATA ROAMING TO AVOID DATA FEES, IT DISCONNECTS MY HOT SPOT.
IS THERE A WAY TO TURN DATA OFF AND STILL UTILIZE HOT SPOT?

    Hi Friend,
If you turn off Cellular Data you are unable to use hotspot.
But you can turn on Airplane Mode and them turn on Wifi, then you can use Wifi wherever you are with Wifi connection. But remember, if you turn on Airplane mode, it automatically turn off your Wifi, so you need to trun on it again,
    Hope it will be helpful

  • Traveling out of the country, can I use a converter to charge

We will be traveling throught Europe and I want to be sure that I can charge our family's 2 iPod touch devices using a regular travel converter.  I know you cannot use a standard converter for a laptop but what about our iPods

You can use the standard charger for 110/220V 50/60Hz.  You do not need a converter, only an adapter to convert from the US flat prong plug to the plug shapes of the country you are in.  They are only a dollar or two each.

Yes, you can use a US Skype Number while you're out of the country.
Even if you're overseas your friends and relatives can call your US Skype Number at local rates. When they want to call you, simply sign in to Skype and answer the call when it rings – and you pay nothing to answer the call.

  • How can I unlock my iphone to use out of the country.I have a iphone 5

Im traveling out of the country, and I need to unlock my iphone 5 to use there. How can I do that?

You don't need to unlock your iPhone if you want to use it abroad. There's roaming
If, however you want to insert a SIM card in another country, you should contact your provider. Every provider has it's specific rules for unlocking so I can't give you a general answer

  • When using imessage with another iphone user, is it still free to message them if they're out of the country?

my friend is out of the country, and he wants use imessage, but i dont know if it will give me charges to my account and apple doesnt mention if it's only unlimited messaging within the country

iMessage uses data, just like an email, if I can use that analogy. It will not count as SMS, however I have read somewhere where some people have reported getting SMS charges when using iMessage. I believe it is impossible though, unless the message does not go through and you have send as SMS checked in settings if the iMessage fails.

  • Why can't I download a few books to my iPad? I've got an iTunes account.  I'm out of the country, but I was able to download a free book.

I m out of the country and trying to download a few books to iBooks. I was able to download d a free book, now it tells me to contact iTunes support.

    Did you contact itunes support?
You should not be able to use any country's itunes store from outside of that country.
"The iTunes Service is available to you only in the United States, its territories, and possessions. You agree not to use or attempt to use the iTunes Service from outside these locations. Apple may use technologies to verify your compliance."
    http://www.apple.com/legal/itunes/us/terms.html#SERVICE
It is the same for each country.

If you are in the US go here:

It could be in your country's Apple website like this (Canada - ca):

If its not there then try the regional apple website like:

  • How do i contact a verizon representative when I'm out of the country?  *611 doesn't work, neither does the 800

Help - I have no idea how to contact a representative - I used to call the 800 # but now it just refers me to *611 which I can't do out of the country, and I've had no success with the live chat on their website (doesn't appear to be working) - I'm also not on facebook, twitter, or google + - how am I supposed to get ahold of someone out of the country?

Use their calling card option. See International Support - Verizon Wireless.

  • How can I view the iMessages that were sent to me while I was out of the country?

How can I view the iMessages that were sent to me while I was out of the country? They never loaded, but people have told me that they sent me many iMessages while I was gone.
I figured they would load when I turned on my cellular data, but only my text messages loaded. I would like to see the iMessages I missed because I believe some of them were fairly important.
I would really appreciate somebody's help!

As far as I understand with this, iMessage works the same as regular txts. The iMessages are held on the messaging server for 72hrs if it's not picked up by then it expires. So those that you didn't get you will never get. Sorry.

Thank you for reaching out to us, Texasman. Sad to see that
you have left the VZW family, but it is definitely awesome to be able to
travel! Regarding your iPhone 5, the phone is unlocked for international usage.
Just need an active local SIM card that is compatible with your iPhone. Your local provider
may need to configure some settings under Cellular, but it should pick up signal. Just in
case, make sure that Settings>Cellular>Roaming>Voice & Data are
    active.
