FaceTime is not working in iPhone 4S using Vodafone in Kolkata, India

Hi,
I am using iPhone 4S model number: MD258AE/A. I bought it in Bahrain and using Viva FaceTime worked. But in Kolkata I am using Vodafone 3g. imessage got activated but I am not able to activate FaceTime. I tried sending message to UK number but it does not work. Even when I click on FaceTime icon in settings, it does responde and does go to facetime settings page. Sometimes later the icon disappear from settings page.
Please help.

When you say the apps don't open, are their icons still showing, or are they gone? And do you mean you never synced your iPhone before?

I understand all of this Meg; that is why I bought an Iphone; but never expected my phone not even give a at least a 24 or even 12 hours....I work 12 hour shifts and also would expect to have to charge each night but not twice a day or more. I am not always somewhere I can charge my phone.

I'm guessing it's a compatibility problem similar to that that T-Mobile in the US has. I'm not familiar with chat-r wireless, but I'm guessing it's not a supported carrier for the iPhone. If they can't tell you how to fix it, I'm guessing it's just plain not going to work.

The front-facing camera is available for use even without FaceTime. If you are having issues with your front-facing camera, I suggest troubleshooting the issue:

Facetime only works via WiFi. Are you trying to set up Facetime with a T-Mobile account?

what is the serial number? Phones bought in some Arab countries hav facetime disabled because of government regulations. Is facetime enabled in settings/facetime and settings/general/restrictions?

Check with your carrier to see if your plan supports sending of international SMS messages. If you are having trouble activating Facetime or Imessages turn them both off on your device and reset the device (Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for device to restart (no data will be lost)). Wait for the device to restart and wait a minute and turn Facetime and imessage back on and wait for activation. If that does not fix things read the following articles:
