Facetime issue!

So I went on my facetime on my IPod and when I log in it says:
Facetime Activation
An error has occurred during activation.
Try again.
So I did all the thing that I thought of:
Shut down the device
Went on my wifi and went Off and then back on.
Turned on my facetime off and the back on.
Any other suggestions please my gf is at London for vacation and we went to talk and we can't

Hi, I have a situation that I really don't know how to resolve, I have been using iPod Touch since the second generation and I've been using the backup to restore everytime I buy a new iPod Touch.
Now, the last iPod Touch I bought was the 4th generation 32 GB, with that iPod on iOS 4.1 I enabled the FaceTime account with email address and it worked normally.
Two days ago I got my new iPhone 4, it is on iOS 4.1 and I restored it as always, with the backup of my 4th gen iPod Touch, all worked normally.
The problem is this: I can't enable FaceTime now, I go to settings>phone and there is the on/off toggle for FaceTime, but here is what happens, I turn it ON, but when I go back to the homescreen the toggle return to OFF position by itself, I've tried reset all settings and restarting the iPhone but same happens, I think there is some kind of conflict because the iPod Touch 4th gen works with e-mail and maybe the iPhone can't read that or something like that. As a new iPhone the on/off FaceTime toggle works normally on the iPhone.
I need a way to reset the FaceTime settings but the only impossible option for me is restore as new and loose the backup that I've been using for a very long time that has a lot of information and work.
Please help me!!

  • I have a FaceTime issue on my iPhone 5. Recently updated my iPhone with OS 7.0.4

    Hello there,
I am not able to connect to anyone via FaceTime. It just does not connect.
Recently I have updated my iPhone to iOS version 7.0.4 which should resolved any FaceTime issues but it has gone the other way and stopped my good working FaceTime app. Any steps which I should follow? Instagram is also not working properly, it wont upload photos, but I am least bothered about this as FaceTime is my real concern.
    Thanks,

    Hey there VRG18,
It sounds like you are unable to connect to anyone using FaceTime. I recommend these troubleshooting steps from the article named:
    iOS: Troubleshooting FaceTime
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3367
    Resolve issues with FaceTime calls
If you encounter issues making or receiving FaceTime calls, follow these steps:
Ensure that your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is up to date.
Verify that FaceTime is enabled in Settings > FaceTime.
If the issue persists or if you see the message "Waiting for Activation", try toggling FaceTime off and then on again. See the Activating FaceTime section of this article for more information.
If you don't see the FaceTime setting, ensure that Camera and FaceTime are not disabled in Settings > General > Restrictions.
Verify that the date and time are set correctly:
Tap Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically.
Verify that both parties are connected to a Wi-Fi network or a cellular data connection and have an active Internet connection.
FaceTime uses push notifications to send and receive invitations. Verify push functionality using Mail or other applications that use this feature.
Verify that you have the correct phone number or email address.
    Restart your device.
If using FaceTime over a Wi-Fi network, proceed to the "Wi-Fi network issues" section in this article.
There is additional troubleshooting in the article if needed.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,

  • Facetime issue becoming overbearing!!!

Has APPLE released any troubleshooting on how to fix this Facetime issue?! It's becoming overbearing
My Apple ID and password are verified but I cannot access it. I tried synching it with iTunes, changing the time zone etc but that still didnt work
Does anybody out there have any solutions?

    Hi catherineh14,
If you are having an issue with all other FaceTime users being unable to see or hear you from your iPhone, and you have already tried resetting you phone, I would suggest the next step is to test in a different Wi-Fi environment.
If this does not resolve your issue, back up the data on your iPhone and then restore it as a new device. See this article -
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Best,

  • Is anyone else having FaceTime issue?

I am having FaceTime issues and wanted to know if anyone else was having issues? It says server is busy on my iMac and won't let me access Face Time

I had a similar issue but mine said cannot verify username and password.
To resolve this i went to generals: App store and clicked on my apple id. when a pop up shows click on view Applie id account. There select the payment process and select NONE in the type of card instead of your visa or mastercard. save it and then you can try getting into facetime., It should be good. It worked for me. Good luck. Lemme know how it goes

Facetime is not in the App store. It is part of the iOS. You access Facetime on the phone via the contact section. Facetime needs to be activated in Settings. The only reason you may not have it is if you purchased the device in an area where Facetime is prohibited by law.

  • Facetime issue - after installing a new logic board due to liquid damage.

I installed a new logic board this week.. after installing the os x operation system and then upgrading it to mavericks and i used migration assistant to load my backuped user from an external disk.
I tried to log in using my apple id ( which is verified) it couldn't log in beacuse "could not sign in. please check your network connection and try again"
and i did all the updates of mavericks. i tried also before installing mavericks i thougt upgrading will fix it..
    i saw on forums that i should add 2 DNS's (8888 and 8844) didn't work.
i tried connection to my phones hotspot - didn't work.
i also went to the firewall thing to allow it recieve cennections..
    pleassee help!!
is there a way to reinstall the facetime or something?!?!?!

My problem solved could possiblly be your solution: Check to make sure your system serial number is being read by your logic baord.  If the tech forgot to reenter the serial number, it's a known issue for Facetime and Messages (apparantly not know enough yet though, no tech bulliten exists on the topic).
I spent several days trouble shooting my inablility to login to my account with Facetime or Messages (other cloud services worked) after upgrading to Mavericks.  I went as far as doing a clean install on my hard drive after spending two hours with a baffled mac tech in a retail store and many hours searching the message boards.
I have never had a logic board (or hard drive) replaced on my Macbook Air, but somehow after the Mavericks update the logic board stopped reading the serial number on my system.  It took a call to Apple and a ticket opened to engineering to figure this out (after I uploaded log files).
They were puzzled I experienced this without a logic board replacement, but it was indeed the root cause of the facetime and messages apps failing to log in, and said they'd run in to it recently more than once.
Wish I knew how to post this unbiquitously across all the boards for folks to troubleshoot by simply looking at their system info in the Apple menu; Apple scheduled an appointment for me at an Apple genius bar and it was fixed in fifteen minutes.

  • Facetime issues

Facetime works great, the only issue I have is that it wont wake my iPod up when there is an incoming call. I know it should since it does it for some other folks I know. Is there some setting I'm missing, is this a known issue, is there any thing I can do to fix it?
    Thank you for your time.

    Welcome to Discussions, jroro_99
    (1) Wake your iPod manually and ask someone to FaceTime you again.
If your iPod still does not recognize an incoming call after you wake it, turning your iPod's Settings > Airplane Mode ON and then back OFF to refresh the wi-fi connection may get FaceTime working again. Test by letting your iPod go back to sleep to see if it wakes for a call now.
    (2) If refreshing does not help after you let your iPod go back to sleep, restart your iPod:

  • FaceTime issue on MacBook Pro retina.

    HI guys.
OK another head head scratcher I'm having an issue with FaceTime on my MacBook Pro 13" retina Running mountain lion.
It it to was working fine until about a month ago.
Now it just won't let me connect at all regardless if it's me that is ringing out or someone ringing me.
The issue is it drops connection when I go to answer or if who I am ringing answers Never had this problem before.
it rings fine & when I click accept it says connecting then it beeps 3 times & tells me it's failed.
i Know it can't be my Apple ID as FaceTime works without any problems on my iPad But it does have issues on my iPhone 4 8gb But that's a different issue FaceTime just hangs when I go to answer on my iPhone.
i Have so far tried several things logging out of iCloud then back in.
Logging in with a different Apple ID & trying it from a different user account.
ALl all have the same result so all I can conclude there must be something on the Mac itself.
The mac does have norton antivirus for mac installed which the subscription has expired on months ago I have tried allowing the FaceTime app through the firewall & I have also disabled norton too but still the same result.
anyone had the same issue or come across this before if so how did you resolve it?
    cheers guys thank you.

  • Facetime issues mavericks

    Hi,
I am responsible for converting many people from PC to Mac, telling them that upgrading the OS in Mac is eamless. And it has been for a long time. Until the Mavericks.
With Mavericks I am experiencing subtle issues. But, Facetime is a big one.
I tried for the first time to FT with Mavericks and while I could see the other side, I could not hear them. And they could neither see me or hear me. I tried with a few different contacts and had the same results.
I have checked through preferences and there isn't any adjustments I could make. I have searched the forums and I see that people are having difficulties with FT on Mavericks although not like my difficulties.
I wonder if anyone here can shed some light on what is going on. Has Apple dropped the ball finally? Is it becoming more like a PC now where you have to wait for the unofficial beta testers report problems to Microsoft so they can fix it in time - maybe in the next update?
Perhaps not for this forum, but is there a way to go back to the previous edition of the Mac OS?

    Hi Mon amant,
too bad, i believe you have the same problem i'm having. It seems like Apple doesn't want to fix this problem.

  • TS4185 Mac Facetime Issues now that i have iphone

i recently got an iphone and i have had a mac for a long time.  before i had my iphone, my mac facetime worked all the time.  now that the iphone is running, i cant get my facetime to work on the mac anymore.  call fails as soon as it is answered.  help

    Hey there LKalbach,
It sounds like you unable to make a call from your Apple ID in iMessage because the calls fail. I would start by checking to see if perhaps your computer needs to be re verified with FaceTime.
    Activating FaceTime for Mac
Use your Apple ID to register and use FaceTime. FaceTime registration validates your Apple ID and email address for use with FaceTime.
If you are unable to activate FaceTime, try the following:
Sign in to FaceTime for Mac using a valid Apple ID. After you validate the email address for use with FaceTime, other FaceTime users can connect to you using that email address. If you encounter issues registering or using an Apple ID account:
Ensure that you have an active Internet connection.
Verify that you are using a valid Apple ID at appleid.apple.com. You can also create an Apple ID or reset your password from this website.
Check that your email address is verified in FaceTime > Preferences. If FaceTime > Preferences shows your email status as "verifying," follow the instructions in the verification email that was sent to complete the process.
Toggle FaceTime off and on in FaceTime > Preferences.
If still unable to Sign In follow the instructions in FaceTime, Game Center, Messages on OS X: Troubleshooting Sign in
If are still unable to make calls with FaceTime, I do not know if you have tried these steps from the following article, but I would try them next:
    Troubleshooting FaceTime for Mac
You can make FaceTime calls using the FaceTime app. You can call FaceTime users whose contact information is in Contacts. You can add contacts and edit contact information in either FaceTime or Contacts. To place a video call, you may use a phone number or email address.
If you encounter issues making or receiving FaceTime calls, try the following:
Verify that FaceTime is enabled in FaceTime > Preferences. If the issue persists, or if you see the message "Waiting for Activation", try toggling FaceTime off and then on.
Verify that the Date, Time, and Time Zone are set correctly:
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences > Date & Time > Date & Time.
    Enable "Set Automatically".
Click the Time Zone tab and confirm the closest city is correct.
Verify that both parties are connected to an active broadband Internet connection.
See Mac OS X: Troubleshooting a cable modem, DSL, or LAN Internet connection.
Consult Using FaceTime behind a firewall for necessary ports to open in firewalls, security software and routers.
If you encounter issues using a Wi-Fi network, use standard Wi-Fi network troubleshooting to resolve interference and other issues.
Verify the phone number or email address being used is the correct one activated for FaceTime. You can verify that you are using a valid Apple ID at appleid.apple.com. You can also create an Apple ID or reset your password from this website.

  • FaceTime issues between 2014 retina MacBook Pros

Another person with whom I have regular rMBP-to-rMBP FaceTime sessions can no longer initiate FT sessions to me without the message "...unavailable for FaceTime call..." appearing on screen. This happens even when I am available and expecting the call. Both of us use 2014 rMBP laptops running Yosemite 10.10.1. If I initiate the session, my call will only appear on the other person's iPhone...not their rMBP. Perhaps one of us is overlooking something... or perhaps it's related to Yosemite's 10.10.1 issues? I'm unable to determine the cause. Does this mimic a problem experienced by anyone else?

That's a good question... I don't know. Nobody else has tried. I'll have to find another correspondent and get back to you.

  • 2012 Macbook FaceTime Issues

    Good Morning Everyone,
I would just like to ask if anyone could help me with this issue, I have got a Macbook 2012. And like 2 days ago, i go to use FaceTime and it says Power Saver Mode, Click FaceTime to resume. I do as it says, but nothing happens. The FaceTime camera green light is always on, even though FaceTime quite clearly isn't working.
Any help would be much appreciated!
    Cheers
    Alec

    click system preference
    energy saver
remove check mark "slightly dim the display while on battery power"
    then reload face time
    you're done

  • Facetime issues on iphone 4

Okay so my mother has an iphone 4. She went to facetime my brother and it had her enter in her apple id and password. Now all it says when she tries to facetime is connecting then lost connection. Not sure if she entered in her apple id and password wrong or what. She did get an email from apple saying that her apple id was used to connect to an iphone 4.
Any ideas on how to fix face time?
One other thing i noticed is that she put the same id and password in under the itunes settings and it can not connect to the itunes store.

  • Apple ID Problem - iMessage/FaceTime issues

Hello, I ran into an issue this morning, and am seeking some assistance. I was trying to tackle this problem on my own, but I decided it would be better to just ask the community .
This morning, I ran into an issue with no explanation. It suddenly happened, with no warning. When I checked my iPod Touch this morning, everything seemed normal. But, I tried to send my friend something through iMessage, and it didn't send. I first thought it was a simple Wi-Fi issue, but no matter how many times I tried, no matter who I tried to send a message to. I didn't send. I am on a secure network, and merely a few meters from my Wi-Fi Router. I later discovered FaceTime wasn't working too. I asked my friends through another way of communication if it was also down for them, and they all said that it was working fine for them. I even tried my mother's Apple ID, and it worked fine (we're on the same network)!!! Though I only tried iMessage and FaceTime, I'm sure anything that requires an Apple ID will not work with mine.
A few hours, it just logged me out of iMessage, so I decided to try and log back in. I checked MULTIPLE TIMES if I was typing in my password correctly, and I was. Yet, it kept on saying, either:
    1. It cannot log me into iMessage, and to check my network connection.
    2. To type in my password AGAIN, and then #1 would pop up.
I don't know what would cause this, or what I could have done to trigger it, but if ANYBODY knows how I can fix this issue, that would be great! Thank you for your time!
