Facetime not available

Me and my sister both have an iPhone 4.
I tried calling her via Facetime by pressing the Facetime button beneath her Contact details.
Nothing happened and she did not hear anything.
She says that in her Contacts under my name there is no Facetime button.
We were both connected to Wi-fi.
What are we doing wrong?

(1) First be sure that your FaceTime Setting is set to "ON."

If you bought your phone in UAE where your government has disabled FaceTime then your phone is not FaceTime enabled and moving to another country will not change things. Your phone will not have FaceTime no matter where you take it

FaceTime not available in iPhone 4S

I had a new iPhone 4S, and the issue that I am experiencing until now is regarding the FaceTime since I don't have it in my iPhone 4S.I already checked on the Contacts > Info: Send Message, Share Contact, Add to Favorites are the only available button. Even in the Settings which is supposed to be located between the Phone and Safari. And also, FaceTime with Slide Bar (OFF) under Settings > Phone is NOT available.

Make sure it's turned on in preferences.
If the phone came from the Middle East (Qatar, UAE, KSA) FaceTime is permanently removed as it is banned by law there. There is no way to add it.

I am current in Sotheby's Africa and trying to FaceTime my daughter who also has the same ipad as me. My son in law also has the ipad. Despite using my daughters email, I cannot get through to her or my son in law. When I hit FaceTime I can hear the ringing tone, but after a while it comes up saying my daughter is not available, but she is sat by her ipad in the UK. I have checked everything is working so what can I do now to get through to her, especially for Xmas day.

FaceTime feature is not available on brand new iphone 5 from Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE)

We got a brand new iphone 5 from Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). We are living in Italy and we are trying to setup the FaceTime on brand new iphone 5 but to no avail. Is there a way to enable the FaceTime features?
Can Apple or the carrier are capable of doing it?

Unfortunately that device does not have FaceTime.

When a contact tries to call me on FaceTime, they are told I'm not available. In settings, it's turned on and I can call them with no problem immediately after they've tried calling me. Any ideas?

Try going to settings and turning FaceTime off, then back on again. A hard reset may also help(hold down the power button and the home button together until you see the Apple logo)

FaceTime - works fine calling from Mac to IPad 2. Calling from iPad 2 to Mac always have message saying the Mac side is not available or busy.

Calling Mac form Ipad2 works fine. I call from Ipad2 to Mac it is alway not available.
Both Mac and Ipad2 has OS 5 and the latest Factime app.
Please help.

I actually am experiencing the same dilemma as you!
My sister owns a MacBook White 13 inch and even though she is online my calls don't seem to go through!
Make sure the recipient has turned FaceTime on and that he or she is already signed in to FaceTime,

"not available for FaceTime" error after upgrading to Mountain Lion

I have an iPhone, iPad, MacBook and Mac Mini and have had no problems receiving FaceTime calls on any of these devices until I upgraded to Mountain Lion. Now everytime someone tries to call me on FaceTime they get an error that I'm not available. I can call them just fine.
Using my wife's iPhone I tried to debug the issue and found that after I toggle FaceTime off then back on using the Mac mini that I could receive a faceTime call. However, after a few days I am no longer able to receive a call.
Has anyone else had this issue and know of a fix?

Thanks, but this didn't work for me. I did a fresh install, so there was no subfolder in my Barnes and Noble folder.
I tried the second suggestion from NA Smith too, but that didn't work either.
I had this problem last year on my imac, and I gave up on Barnes and Noble. But I had one book I wanted to access (a diet book), and tried again on my new Macbook Pro.... same frustrating thing, even after all this time - shame on B&N!!!
So, I bought the one book again, this time at Amazon. I feel sorry for anyone who has bought many ebooks from B&N - they are definitely not even trying to be serious about their software - I assume the have a couple high-school kids working part time (?).

For some reason, when people try to connect to me via FaceTime, they get a message saying that "the user is not available to FaceTime."
In this particular istance ...
I try to FaceTime between two computers in my house, mine and my wife's.
My wife launches FaceTime and tries to connect to my computer, but gets the message that I'm not available for FaceTime. We are both on a wired network, not WiFi. Her computer is running Lion 10.7. I'm running 10.7.1. FaceTime is not running on my computer when she tries to connect. However, if I launch FaceTime, she still gets the message that I'm not available.
I can connect from to her via FaceTime from my computer, regardless of whether she has FaceTime running or not.
FaceTime has no preferences, so I guess there's nothing I can do there.
Are there some System Preferences that could cause this issue?

Facetime: user not available right away after dial

When I am trying to do a Facetime Call (Audio and Facetime video), it gives right away a message of "User not available for Facetime". This number used to work no problem before. I tried to do a test with another Iphone to find the reason why this happened. So I found out that it couldn't be a number block nor a Facetime being turned off. Anyone know the reason why it jumps directly to the message of "User not available"?
It seems like an auto-decline incoming calls, but Iphone does not have such option.

Theres nothing wrong with your phone, it could mean any if the following:
The person(s) you are callig have blocked you
The person(s) have a dead phone
The person(s) aren't accepting calls
