Facetime ok but lost Messages. email verification says sent link
Have been using Facetime and Messages many times with my family and friends. Messages is now requesting a re Start by logging in with id and p/w. Says cannot verify and sending link to email. Have double checked email and all is correct. So i am stuck in a loop and cannot access messages. Have powered off and on and still the same.
Some folks have discovered that changing their DNS service fixes FaceTime connection issues.
The ideal way is to configure your modem/router with DNS service, but often settings in System Preferences/Network on your Mac and Settings/Wi-Fi on your iPad will override the router settings. Try either of these;
OpenDNS

Palm Treo Pro - suddenly lost Messaging email and SMS?
Currently travelling overseas and no probs first few days but then was in Port Isaac with "no signal" and switching carriers and lost messaging - emails, sms etc. I can make outgoing calls and receive them but can't receive SMS. I can access web for weather updates, Facebook etc. I have done a few few soft resets with no success although one time I got an error message about device.exe - not every time though. The messaging won't work either through the nominated button or through the menu item. I do get the "thinking" whirling ball for 10s while it tries but nothing starts. Has my device.exe become corrupted somehow - can I replace it or do I need a hard reset? Should I install 6.5 if that is the case - don't really want to lose all contacts etc
Any comments appreciated - it is driving me nuts!
Post relates to: Treo Pro T850U (Unlocked)It is strange if web browsing works but not email. Unlike SMS, email should be using the same data connection as web. Are you roaming with your provider's SIM card or are you using a local SIM card?
I generally get a device.exe error if I close a program and it doesn't close correctly, or very occasionally if a program crashes for some other reason. I don't think I've seen it during startup. I doubt that the file has become corrupted, although I suppose it's possible.
There is no (official) 6.5 update for the Treo Pro. -
i need help really bad. im trying to sync music on my ipod, but a message comes up say " cannot synce photoes in ipod because the folder pictures cannot be found . what do i do ?
Try deleting the iPod Photos Cache folder. There may be more than one. For its location see:
iTunes: Photo sync creates iPod Photo Cache folder
Also, go to the Photos pane for the iPod in iTunes and make sure syncing photos is unchecked. -
im trying to install itunes but a message pops up saying this version is for 32 bit please use 64 bit installer, help?

I shared my apple id with my sons iphone. Now dont want him seeing my imessages. I changed my apple id on my phone for imessages and facetime. But he still is getting imessages sent to me? Help

Go to Settings > FaceTime, tap your Apple ID, and select Sign Out.
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive, tap your Apple ID, and select Sign Out.
You may also want to make sure his phone number is deactivated for your Apple ID:

Trying to change reset my Apple ID as I can't remember it, however it is sending an email which says invalid link or a list with the option to change password which can't be clicked on? Can anybody please help? Going around in circles! Grrrrrrrrrrr
Is this your machine or the company's? Machines that came with Snow Leopard or earlier installed come with system and software install disks that can be used to reisntall the iApps that came with the machine orignally.
If this is your machine and it came with Snow Leopard or earlier installed the disk will look slimialr to one of these:
If it is the company's machine see if they have the disks.
Do a custom install and then use Software Update to update iPhoto to the highest version that is available. -
Redeemed an iTunes gift card. New computer, need to answer security questions. Forgot answers, tried to reset them, but the reset email is being sent to an email that is deactivated. HELP.
You need to contact Apple to get the questions reset. Click here, phone them, and ask for the Account Security team, or fill out and submit this form.

Been trying to download apps for my iPad, just created my apple ID, the verification email keep saying in bold red letters that the ID is already in use, that I should only access the App world with that account, but at App world it says that the email account has nit yet been veryfied and resends the verification mail!! How can I solve this?
You can check to see if it is associated with one of your IDs by following this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5625, and entering the email address at step 2 to see if it finds an ID owned by you. If it doesn't, contact the Apple account security team and have them check into it by going to https://expresslane.apple.com, then click More Products and Services>Apple ID>Other Apple ID Topics>Apple ID account security.

Backed up mail files but lost messages when changing computers
I just switched computers, from one running OS X 10.3.9 to one running OSX 10.4.9.
On my old computer I created different folders in which I stored my emails. The Help on Mail said that to backup I had to save the files on
Home > Library > Mail
Home > Library > Application Support > Address Book
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.mail.plist
I did that and moved these files into the corresponding location in the new computer. I can see all the folders, but they are all empty. Have I lost my saved emails forever?The folders in the Mail application are empty. So the folders transferred, but the emails I had stored in them didn´t.
On the backups I made I can see:
- In the Home>Library>Mail folder:
1- a file named DefaultCounts
2- a file named LSMMap
3- a file named LSMMap2
4- a file named MessageSorting.plist
5- a file named MessageSorting.plist.backup
6- a file named Signatures.plist
7- a folder named Mailboxes with a folder named like each of the folders I had created in Mail (which are all empty), and a folder named like each of the folders I had created in Mail, next to the folder name is the extension .mbox. And inside each one of these are 4 files named content_index, Info.plist, mbox, tableofcontents
8- a folder named POPmypopaccountname which contains folders named Inbox.mbox, Delete Messages.mbox, Drafts.mbox, Sent Messages.mbox. Each one of these has 4 files named content_index, Info.plist, mbox, tableofcontents. This folder also has a file named MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded -
Need to update my IPhone 4 and connected to the itunes on windows XP. I clicked on update and waited. A message appears that says," Cannot update etc. Please check your network settings/config., etc... or try again later" and it's been happening for a while. Please help.
Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.

C6 Messaging Email not being sent
Hi,
I have a Nokia C6-00. The software version is 41.0.010. Type is RM-612
I am unable to send mail from the inbuilt email application. The mail just lies in the Outbox folder. I have configured my personal GMAIL account in my phone. I have deleted the account and recreated it, but still mails are not getting sent from my phone.
The signal strength is at its full.
Can anybody tell me how do I resolve this issue?

Amardeep VermaThis problem has nothing to do with her hardware or the Mail application.
If a message cannot be successfully sent for whatever reason, it will remain in the Outbox mailbox and not be sent.
A message moved to the account's Sent mailbox indicates the message was successfully sent by the SMTP server used to send messages with the account but is no guarantee the message will be delivered to the recipient's incoming mail server or be accepted by the recipient's incoming mail server.
Generally, this type of problem is at the recipient's incoming mail server - the recipient's incoming mail server may be blocking all messages received from the domain for the sender's email account/address (the portion of the email address after the @ sign or blocking a range of IP addresses for which the sender is included, etc.
The next place to check is the provider for the sender's SMTP server used to send messages with this account which is usually the email account provider but not always.
My .Mac account is my primary email account but I use my ISP's SMTP server to send messages with my .Mac account when connected to the internet at home - not .Mac's SMTP server. -
Getting notification tones but no messages/emails have been received...
My phone will give a notification tone and flash every few seconds but no emails or messages have come through and I'm finding it really frustrating. I've tried re-starting the device but as soon as I receive an email or text it happens again despite the messages being read. Any help much appreciated thanks
Click on your Messages icon then press your menu key and select View Folder. If you go through each folder, you'll probably find the messages that have been triggering those notifications. BlackBerry phones don't usually notify you of messages that aren't there so something has to be triggering it.
Do that and post back with your results.

I have downloaded the most recent itunes on my new computer with windows 8 but when I attempt to get in I get this message "The itunes library.itl file is locked, ona locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file." How do i fix this?
Repair iTunes Security Permissions
Right-click on your main iTunes folder and click Properties, then go to the Securitytab and click Advanced. Use the Change Permissions... button grant to your account (or the Users group) and SYSTEM full control of this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to Replace permissions entries... which will repair permissions throughout the library. When complete switch to the General tab, click in the Read-only check box to clear it, then click Apply.
If you don't have the option to change the permissions then use the Owner tab and Edit... button to take ownership from an account with administrator privileges. Tick the option to Replace owner on subcontainers and objects.
Repeat with the media folder if it isn't stored inside the main iTunes folder.
If you've brought over the library from another computer you may also want to remove any "mystery" identities (S<string of dashes & digts>) that have come over from the old computer...

I want a song purchased on my ipad with my apple id downloaded onto our home mac mini. So i can listen to it via that computer. However the mac is registered to my husbands apple id and it comes up with a message about 90days wait needed or something. What does this mean? And how do I get one measly song downloaded?!

It sounds like you are trying to change your login in the Tunes store through iTunes on your computer, which you can only do once in 90 days, which you don't need to do for this.
